Patricia Bartels
CLIFTON PARK - Mrs. Patricia Bartels, 71, of Plaid Place, died Friday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after being stricken.
Mrs. Bartels was born in Schenectady and moved to Brandon, Vt., at an early age. She was a graduate of Brandon High School.
Later, she returned to the Capital Region and worked for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady as an administrative assistant.
Mrs. Bartels was a member of the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Richard D. Bartels, died in 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Garry Bartels of Apex, N.C., Richard A. Bartels of Downingtown, Pa., and Douglas Bartels of Clifton Park; a brother, Thomas Farr of Birmingham, Ala.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, 971 Route 146.
Burial will be in Jonesville Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9.

Robert W. Webster
QUEENSBURY - Robert William Webster, 79, of Wayne Court, died Friday at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a sudden illness.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Webster was a longtime resident of Saratoga Springs.
He was employed for 20 years by the Espey Manufacturing Co. as an electronic packaging designer.
Mr. Webster also worked at Tele-Resources in Clifton Park.
An Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, he served in Europe with the 8th Air Force and was discharged as a sergeant.
Mr. Webster was a member of the Gurtler Bros. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 420 in Saratoga Springs and a communicant and usher at the church of Our Lady of the Annunciation.
His wife, Frances Filakovsky Webster, died October 26.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Webster Halbert of Ridgefield, Conn., Robin Webster Wendell of Queensbury and Michele Webster Yager of Gansevoort; a son, Allan Webster of Davie, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, 448 Aviation Road.
Burial with military honors will be private in St. Peter's Cemetery, Saratoga Springs.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 this afternoon at the William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs.

Mary Mancini, 92, operated Mancini's Grocery Store
PALATINE BRIDGE - Mrs. Mary Gotti Mancini, operated Mancini's Grocery Store in Palatine Bridge from 1931 until 1954, died Sunday at the Palatine Nursing Home. Mrs. Mancini, of West Skyline Drive, was 92.
Born in Brown Station, Ulster County, Mrs. Mancini lived in Canajoharie and attended school there. She was also a resident of Palatine Bridge.
Mrs. Mancini was active in the Mancini family real estate business for many years. She was a member of St. Peter and St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Canajoharie. She also played the church organ in her younger years.
Mrs. Mancini was a member of the Palatine Literary Society.
Her husband, Rocco T. Mancini, whom she married May 6, 1928, died last year.
Survivors include three sons, Alfonso R. Mancini of Penfield, Monroe County, Ralph G. Mancini of Guilderland and Rocco T. Mancini of Palatine Bridge; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Mancini of Newton, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, and at 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Peter and St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Cliff Street, Canajoharie. Calling hours will be from 5 this afternoon until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Spring burial will be in St. Peter and St. Paul Cemetery.

Richard `Ike' Bell, owned Ike's Place in Charleston
CHARLESTON - Richard "Ike" C. Bell, who owned and operated Ike's Place in Charleston, died Sunday at home after a long illness. Mr. Bell, of Corbin Hill Road, was 71.
Born in Gloversville, Mr. Bell was educated in Fultonville schools.
He was a truck driver for Cobleskill Stone Products, retiring in 1999. Mr. Bell also worked at the Glen Mohawk Milk Association of Fultonville for 13 years. He and his father operated the former Bell Dairy Farm at one time.
Mr. Bell was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of the Esperance Elks Lodge 2507, Johnstown Moose Lodge 1185 and was a former member of the Charleston Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Nita Pedrick Bell, whom he married Aug. 22, 1953; five sons, Richard J. Bell of Canajoharie, Randal C. Bell of Carlisle, Clayton "Terry" Bell of Palatine, Steven L. Bell of Charleston and Alan W. Bell of Ames; a brother, Dewey Bell of Charleston; a sister, Clara B. Bronk of Canajoharie; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie. Calling hours will be from 5 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date in Christian Church Cemetery, Charleston.

Nancy Pierce, 53, librarian at Johnstown High School
JOHNSTOWN - Mrs. Nancy J. Pierce, who was a librarian at Johnstown High School for 26 years, died Saturday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Mrs. Pierce, of West Street, was 53.
Born in Gloversville, Mrs. Pierce was a graduate of Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
She retired from Johnstown High School in September of this year.
Survivors include her husband, James Pierce, whom she married June 16, 1971; two sons, Jeffrey Pierce of Johnstown and William Pierce of Gloversville; a daughter, Susan Bolebruch of Gloversville; two sisters, Dale Dayton of Corinth and Shirley Wintermute of Meco; a brother, Michael Smith of Sacramento, Calif.; her parents, Harold and Hattie Boyer Smith of Lassellsville; and a grandson.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St. Calling hours will be from 5 this afternoon until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Cremation will take place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

Willard H. Whitney, taught at the University at Albany
BANGOR, Maine - Services were held for Willard Hall Whitney of Bangor, who worked at what is now the University at Albany. He died Oct. 10.
Born and raised in Calais, Maine, Mr. Whitney moved to Bangor in the mid-1930s. He was a 1940 graduate of Bangor High School and a 1944 graduate of the University of Maine.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.
After the war, Mr. Whitney was a repatriation officer for the International Refugee Organization. After his service with the IRO, Mr. Whitney continued his study of foreign languages at the Sorbonne, the University of London and Oxford University.
He returned to Maine in 1953. He taught at high schools in Winterport and Bar Harbor, Maine, and Norwich, Conn. In 1964, Mr. Whitney began work at what is now the University at Albany, chiefly as a supervisor of foreign language student teaching. He retired in 1984 and returned to Bangor shortly thereafter.
Survivors include his wife, Therese Whitney; a son, Richard Whitney of Bangor; and a daughter, Catherine Whitney of Guilderland, N.Y.
Burial was in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, Maine.
Arrangements were by the Brookings-Smith Funeral Home.

Dorothea Eckert
REXFORD - Mrs. Dorothea Harrington Eckert, who was employed in the cafeteria program at Shenendehowa Central School for 20 years, died Friday at home after a long illness. Mrs. Eckert, of Sugar Hill Road, was 81.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Eckert was a 1938 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She lived in Rexford for the past 46 years.
Mrs. Eckert worked for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for several years. She retired from Shenendehowa Central School in 1987.
She was a member of the Shenendehowa Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Henry Eckert; two daughters, Judith Sitterly of Mechanicville and Janis Eckert-Twohy of Lake Port, Calif.; a son, Jeffery L. Eckert of Penn Yan; a sister, June Trask of Morrisville; and four grandchildren.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
Arrangements are by the Catricala Funeral Home, Clifton Park.

John A. Shoop
JOHNSTOWN - John A. Shoop, who was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, died Sunday at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Mr. Shoop, of North East Avenue, was 76.
Born in Gloversville, Mr. Shoop was a graduate of Gloversville High School and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Shoop was a self employed carpenter for several years. He was later a carpenter for Treher & Jung Inc. in Gloversville. He retired as a self employed area contractor.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville.
Mr. Shoop was a member of Pleasant Square Volunteer Fire Department for 51 years. He was a former member of Star Scout in Boy Scout Troop 15 of Sacred Heart Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Gugenberger Shoop, whom he married in 1983; a son, John J. Shoop of Gloversville; a stepson, Albert Gugenberger of Casa Grande, Ariz.; four daughters, Valerie Shoop and Judy Swart, both of Gloversville, Jane Cancio of Galway and Barbara McGrattan of Fairport; three stepdaughters, Susan Tagliatela and Patricia Capparello, both of Gloversville and Nancy Insogna of Caroga Lake; a sister, Jean Cox of Lakeland, Fla.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, followed at 10 at Sacred Heart Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
Contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.

John H. Sator
GUILDERLAND - John H. Sator, who worked for 40 years for the former New York Telephone Co., died Sunday at the Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville after a long illness. Mr. Sator, formerly of Cherry Lane, was 96.
Mr. Sator was born in Utica.
He retired from the New York Telephone Co. in 1965. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Mr. Sator was a 50-year member and past master of the Clinton Hampton Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge 347.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary C. Murphy of Ballston Lake and Joan M. Meister of Old Town, Maine; a son, John R. Sator of Enterprise, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be at a later date.
