Catherine Comtois Gleason
POESTENKILL - Mrs. Catherine Comtois Gleason of Poestenkill died Sunday at Albany Medical Center after a long illness.
Mrs. Gleason was born and educated in Cohoes.

She was a nurse at St. Peter's Hospital and at various nursing homes, retiring several years ago due to her health.

Mrs. Gleason was a communicant of the former St. Agnes Church, Cohoes. She was the widow of Roland Comtois.

Survivors include her husband, John S. Gleason; four daughters, Marion Heroux of Poestenkill, Kathy Comtois of Florida, JoAnn Comtois of Cohoes and Lori O'Konski of Alabama; five sons, Roland Comtois of Pleasantdale, Kenneth C. Comtois of Cohoes, Darrin and John Gleason Jr., both of Cohoes, and Michael Gleason of Clifton Park; a brother, Kenneth Radliff of Cohoes; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Dufresne Funeral Home, 216 Columbia St., Cohoes. Calling hours will be from 5 this afternoon until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the Looby Funeral Home, Cohoes.

Dorothy L. Bergeron
BALLSTON SPA - Mrs. Dorothy L. Bergeron, who was a secretary for the Union Star and what is now The Daily Gazette, died Saturday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Mrs. Bergeron, of West High Street, was 80.
Born in Griffith, Ind., Mrs. Bergeron lived in Scotia before moving to Ballston Spa 30 years ago. She worked as a secretary for HUD and was a real estate broker for many years.

Mrs. Bergeron was a member of the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Her husband, Donald Bergeron, died in 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna F. VanScoy of Ballston Spa and Kathy Marchesiello of Charlton; four sons, Robert Bergeron of Watervliet, Thomas Bergeron of Schenectady, John Bergeron of Clifton Park and Jack Degen of Richmond, Maine; a brother, Russell DeReamer of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and 12 grandchildren.

The services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church. Calling hours will be from 4 this afternoon until 7 tonight at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 25 Hyde Boulevard.

Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church, 101 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa, N.Y.

Ellen May Larucci
SCHENECTADY - Private services will be held for Mrs. Ellen May Larucci, 92, of Kings Road, who died Sunday at the Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Larucci was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Larucci was a homemaker.

Her husband, Thomas Larucci, died in 1965.

Survivors include a daughter, Harriet Bowman of Mt. Airy, N.C.; two sons, Richard Gabriel of Womlesdorf, Pa., and Francis Larucci of Hatfield, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

There are no calling hours.

Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home.

Helen Smith
LEWES, Del. - Mrs. Helen Dittmar Smith, who worked for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for 25 years, died Saturday at the home of her son after being stricken. Mrs. Smith, of Lewes, was 89.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Smith lived in Scotia and Altamont before moving to Clearwater, Fla. in 1973. She relocated to Lewes in 1998 to be with her son.

Mrs. Smith retired from GE in 1965 as a team leader in the Mica Products Division.

She was widow of Danforth Dittmar and Tom Smith.

Survivors include a son Robert Charles Barry of Dewey Beach and Lewes, Del.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Route 1 and Five Points, in Lewes, Del. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Scotia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Historic Lewes Cat Society, P.O. Box 353, Lewes DE 19958.

Local arrangements are by the White Funeral Home of Scotia.

John P. Urban
BURNT HILLS - John P. Urban, 53, of Van Voast Drive, died Saturday in a hunting accident in the town of Tompkins, Delaware County.
Born in Schenectady, Mr. Urban was a lifelong area resident. He was educated in Schenectady schools.

He was employed for 35 years by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady in its large steam turbine generator department.

Mr. Urban was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century Club.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Williams Urban, whom he married Aug. 23, 1969; three daughters, Laurie Bridegroom of Johnsonville, Pamela Monaco of Lindenhurst, Ill., and Janet Urban of Dallas, Texas; a brother, James C. Urban of Central Islip; two sisters, Loretta Becker of Rotterdam and Marsha Feret of Richmondville; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kazyaka Funeral Home, 819 Eastern Ave., Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church.

Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.

Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady 12308, in memory of Mr. Urban.

Katherine Pfaffenbach
SCHENECTADY - Mrs. Katherine M. Jelenic Pfaffenbach, who owned and operated Kathy's Beauty Shop in Rochester at one time, died Sunday at Northeast Special Care Facility in Rhinebeck. Mrs. Pfaffenbach, of Locust Avenue, was 82.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Pfaffenbach was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School.

She lived in Schenectady most of her life.

She was a dietician at Ellis Hospital for five years.

Mrs. Pfaffenbach retired as secretary of the Schenectady Police Department Community Center.

She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 357 and 1895 Ladies Auxiliaries.

Mrs. Pfaffenbach was a member of Emmanuel Frieden Church.

Her husband, Warren H. Pfaffenbach, died last year.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Davies of Rotterdam and Valerie Riggi of Schenectady; three sons, Ante, Vaughn and Karl Jelenic, all of Schenectady; a brother, Robert W. Haman of Jupiter, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Vale Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Emmanuel Frieden Church, 218 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY 12307.

Margaret D. White
ROTTERDAM - Mrs. Margaret D. White, who was a floor supervisor for the F.W. Woolworth Co. in Schenectady for nearly 27 years, died Sunday at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady. Mrs. White, of Third Avenue, was 87.
Mrs. White was born and educated in Schenectady. She retired from Woolworth's in 1976.

Mrs. White was a former president of the Clan MacCrae Ladies Auxiliary and a life member of the Carman Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for more than 50 years.

She was a member of the Carman United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Oliver P. "Bucky" White, died in 1957.

Survivors include a son, Harry O. White of Rotterdam; a daughter, Janet F. Towle of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, William Smylie of Schenectady; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carman United Methodist Church, 2350 Hamburg St., Schenectady, NY 12303.

Marie C. Sullivan
MIDDLEBURGH - Miss Marie C. Sullivan, 74, of Huntersland Road, died Sunday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., Miss Sullivan was an office manager for Sears-Roebuck Co., first in New York City and later in Chicago when that office was moved. She was a communicant of St. Catherine's Church.

Survivors include a sister, Lillian Gannon of Middleburgh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine's Church. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 63 River St.

Burial will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine's Church or the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, P.O. Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.

Mario D'Agostino
SCHENECTADY - Mario D'Agostino, 67, of Woodlawn Avenue, died Sunday at home after a short illness.
Born and educated in Pondeladone, Province of Caserta, Italy, Mr. D'Agostino served in the Italian Army. He came to this country in 1968, settling in Schenectady. He lived on South Avenue for 30 years before moving to Woodlawn in 1998.

He worked in construction in Italy and in Switzerland. He also worked in construction for the Mason and Labor Union Local 190 out of Albany for several years and the Palma Lumber Co. on Kings Road for 10 years. Subsequently, Mr. D'Agostino was a machinist in turbine blade manufacturing at the General Electric Co., retiring in 1995. After retiring, Mr. D'Agostino was employed by Gridley Crane & Sons and by Albany Pool.

Mr. D'Agostino was a communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maria DiCaprio D'Agostino, whom he married in 1960; two daughters, Nicolina "Niki" Doepel and Maria "Lafeal" D'Agostino-Gannon, both of Schenectady; a son, Staff Sgt. Giuseppe D'Agostino of Schenectady; three brothers, Modini, Francisco "Chi" and Lazio D'Agostino, all of Pondeladone; three sisters, Andreanna, Rosa and Angela D'Agostino, all of Pondeladone; and five grandchildren.

The services will be held at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the N. Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, Union at North Jay streets, and at 9 a.m. a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place.

Calling hours will be from 5 this afternoon until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
