Vilma Tuniszewski
SCHENECTADY - Mrs. Vilma Tuniszewski, who worked on Wall Street in New York City at one time, died Dec. 5 at the Hallmark Nursing Home after a long illness. Mrs. Tuniszewski, of Altamont Avenue, was 90.
Born in New York City, Mrs. Tuniszewski had lived in Schenectady for many years.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Regina Ann Bretzman, Douglas V. Bretzman and Eric Schultz.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Parkview Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, Colonie.

Vaughn Ramsey Ward
REXFORD - A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday for Mrs. Vaughn Ramsey Ward, 62, of Riverview Road, who died Friday at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a long illness. The service will be held at the Glenridge Grange, Pashley Road, Burnt Hills.
Born in Clayton, N.M., Mrs. Ward earned a bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico. She received her master's degree from the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College in 1968. She also pursued graduate work in folklore through the Cooperstown Graduate Program.

She taught English at Niskayuna High School from 1962 to 1964 and from 1969 to 1982. She was staff folklorist at the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council from 1982 to 1989.

Mrs. Ward was a member of the Gnostic Center of Ballston Spa.

Survivors include her husband, George Ward; two sons, Peter Ward of Northampton, Mass., and Nathaniel Ward of Albany; her mother, Golda Ramsey of Schenectady; and four grandchildren.

There are no calling hours.

Burial will be private.

Arrangements are by the Jones Funeral Home of Schenectady.

Van Theodore Flanders
GREENFIELD CENTER - Van Theodore Flanders, who was a firefighter for the city of Saratoga Springs until retiring due to disability, died Dec. 2 at home. Mr. Flanders, of Greenfield Center, was 55.
Born in Saratoga Springs, Mr. Flanders was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School.

Survivors include a son, Peter P. Flanders of Vermont; a daughter, Melissa N. Flanders of Massachusetts; his father, Van C. Flanders;;a brother, Malcolm Flanders of Saratoga Springs; and a granddaughter.

The service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the William J. Burke & Sons-Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.

Thomas H. Schrom Sr.
ROTTERDAM - Thomas H. Schrom Sr., who was a heavy equipment operator for more than 31 years for the town of Rotterdam Highway Department, died Tuesday at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Mr. Schrom, of Putnam Road, was 65.
Mr. Schrom was born and educated in Schenectady.

He retired from the highway department in 1983.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Ellis Schrom, whom he married Sept. 22, 1956; four daughters, Cynthia A. Treski, Terri L. Cellini and Lynn M. Maliszewski, all of Rotterdam, and Barbara J. Waters of Glenville; two sons, Thomas H. Schrom Jr. and David W. Schrom, both of Rotterdam; his mother, Ruth Martin VanWagenen of Rotterdam; and 11 grandchildren.

The service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway at Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Viewland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rotterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 101 Princetown Road, Schenectady, NY 12306.

Paul `Skip' Wilson Sr.
STILLWATER - Paul W. "Skip" Wilson Sr., who was a life member of the Troy Amateur Radio Association, died Wednesday at home after a long illness. Mr. Wilson, of Elm Lane, was 62.
His radio call sign was KE2XF. He provided emergency radio communications during the tornado of 1998, which hit the communities of Mechanicville and Stillwater.

Mr. Wilson was born in Amsterdam.

He was a bus driver with the Orange Transit Co. of Anaheim, Calif., for several years before retiring due to disability.

Survivors include his wife, June Smith Wilson; two sons, Timothy and Paul Wilson Jr., both of Georgia; a daughter, Sylvia Jackson of Georgia; two stepdaughters, Christine Demick of Stephentown and Nicholle Smith of Waterford; a brother, David Wilson of California; a sister, Zetta Ennist of California; and several grandchildren.

The services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicville. Calling hours will be from 5 p.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Marion Poran
CLIFTON PARK - Mrs. Marion E. Poran, who was a real estate agent locally for many years, died Tuesday at the home. Mrs. Poran, of the Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home, was 79.
Born in Plattsburgh, Mrs. Poran lived in Clifton Park for more than 30 years.

She sold property in Schenectady and Saratoga counties for Mcabe & Willig, Welborne & Purdy and Realty USA, among others. She retired in 1985 with 20 years of sales service. She was also a homemaker.

Mrs. Poran was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Crescent.

She was the widow of Howard A. Poran.

Survivors include a son, Barton F. Poran of Malta; a daughter, Karen B. Poran of Dover, N.H.; and a grandson.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church, Crescent. Visitation will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Catricala Funeral Home, 1597 Route 9.

Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

Linda J. Valigorsky
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Mrs. Linda J. Valigorsky, who was a teller at the Ballston Spa National Bank, Ballston Spa, died Tuesday at Saratoga Hospital as a result of cancer. Mrs. Valigorsky, of Heather Lane, was 52.
Mrs. Valigorsky was born in Cohoes.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Joseph J. Valigorsky; a daughter, Kimberly Gizzi of Malta; a son, Joseph J. Valigorsky Jr. of Porter Corners; her mother, Helen Ashley Russett of Cohoes; a sister, Barbara Lampman of Cohoes; and two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, 167 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the William J. Burke & Sons-Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway.

Burial will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Restricted to Breast Cancer, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211; or Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

LeRoy Paul Dickinson Sr.
SARATOGA SPRINGS - LeRoy Paul Dickinson Sr., 80, of Jones Road, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter.
Born in Willsboro, Mr. Dickinson was educated in Keeseville.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Dickinson was a group leader for the Bendix Corp. defense plant in Scintilla for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Dickinson; two daughters, Barbara McCormick of Saratoga Springs, with whom he resided, and Robin Boller of Florida; four sons, LeRoy P. Dickinson Jr. of Illinois, Robert and Patrick Dickinson, both of Ilion, and Paul Neilson of Mohawk; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.

There are no calling hours.

A gathering will be held immediately after the services at the home of Barbara and Francis McCormick, 214 Jones Road, Lot 8, Saratoga Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Arrangements are by the William J. Burke & Sons-Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes.

Lee Strain
NISKAYUNA - Miss Lee Strain, 65, of Niskayuna Drive, died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
Born in Springfield, Mass., Miss Strain lived most of her life in the Schenectady area. She was a 1958 graduate of Mount Holyoke College with a bachelor's degree in mathematics.

Miss Strain was a computer programmer at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna. She also worked at the main plant of the General Electric Co. as well as its Research and Development Center. Miss Strain worked in the same capacity for GE in Connecticut and in Syracuse, retiring in 1992.

Survivors include two brothers, Donald Strain of Pleasant Valley and Richard Strain of Poughkeepsie.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.

Calling hours will be from 5 this afternoon until 7 tonight at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union St., Schenectady.

Laura Forman
SALT ROCK, W.Va. - Mrs. Laura DiPier Forman, 39, of Salt Rock, formerly of Schenectady, died Monday in front of the Huntington district headquarters of the Army Corps of Engineers after speaking in protest of the corps' policy on permitting valley fills at mountaintop removal sites.
Mrs. Forman was an environmental activist for the Ohio Valley Coalition for the past seven years.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Forman; a son, Donald Roy Forman of Salt Rock; her parents, Ralph "Jack" and Geneva DiPier of Schenectady; two sisters, Gayle Manion of Green Cove Springs, Fla., and Lynn DiPier of Fairbanks, Alaska; and a brother, Eric DiPier of Mesa, Ariz.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beech Fork State Park, south of Huntington, W.Va.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Laura Forman Fund Memorial for OVEC or the Donald Roy Forman Educational Fund at OVEC, P.O. Box 6753, Huntington, WV 25773-6753.

Arrangements are by the Reger Funeral Home in Huntington, W.Va.
