Mary Anne Vageline
Larimore, ND -- Mary Anne Vageline, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2001 at the Deaconess Health Center of Northwood, ND.
She was born October 27, 1916 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Carl and Anna Mary (Charnakas) Pranys.

She was raised and grew to womanhood in Amsterdam, where she also received her public education.

Mary was united in marriage to John Vageline, Jr. on January 9, 1944 in Schenectady. After their marriage, the couple lived and worked on a dairy farm in Schenectady. Mr. Vageline preceded her in death in 1991, at which time she moved to Larimore. Mary became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Larimore in November, 2000, where she had lived since.

Surviving members of her family include three sons, Robert Vageline and his wife Ramona and Peter Vageline, all of Larimore, and Thomas Vageline of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; three grandchildren and two great–grandchildren; and two sisters, Vera Joralemon and Lee Zakarka, both of Amsterdam.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Carol and brother Peter.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. from the Second Reformed Church in Rotterdam.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore, ND, is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Wilson
Schenectady -- Joseph Wilson, 70, of Albany St., Schenectady, died Saturday, March 30, 2002 at Ellis Hospital.
Mr. Wilson was born on February 8, 1932 in Albany, New York and was a lifelong area resident.

He was educated in Albany schools and was self–employed in various types of employment. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, MaryBeth Wilson; a daughter, Kimberly Parisella of Albany; four nieces, Bernice Gilmore, Lola Thomas, Jennette Brown and Lori Akbar, all of Albany; two nephews, Lewis and Tony Brown, also of Albany; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A graveside service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Parkview Cemetery in Schenectady. There will be no calling hours.

Memorials in his memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Eleanor B. Winfield
Rotterdam -- Eleanor B. Winfield, 79, of Fayette Drive, passed away Wednesday at Ellis Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Schenectady, she was a 1940 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She was an employee of the Marriott Corporation at the General Electric Research and Development Center for more than ten years before retiring.

She was a member of the George Hope Chapter #271 Order of Eastern Star, a former active volunteer with the Rotterdam Boys Club, and an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her mother, Delina Bouck, who died January 19 of this year, and her husband of 48 years, Richard R. Winfield, who died in July of 1989.

Survivors include a son, Gary Winfield of Rotterdam; two sisters–in–law, Pauline Winfield of Rotterdam and Elsie Lewis of Scotia; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home today from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 550 Ontario St., Schenectady, NY 12306 in her memory.

Loys Vivian Veronica Wright
Marsden, TN -- Loys Vivian Veronica Wright, 88, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 after a brief illness.
She was born on September 26, 1913, in Schenectady, where she raised her two daughters while her husband worked for General Electric Company as a research chemist. A graduate of McGill University in Quebec, Canada, Loys was a community volunteer with the girls' schools and the public library. She was a lifelong gardener, reader and viewer of public television. She and her husband moved to Nashville 25 years ago to be with their family. Loys was actively involved with Meade Valley Garden Club, Horticultural Society of Middle Tennessee, Cheekwood, NPT Channel 8 and the Harding House Condominium Association.

Survivors include her daughters, Molly (Richard) Schneider of Nashville, TN and Jen (Brian) Hamilton of Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada; her grandchildren, Claire Schneider, Deborah (David) Lank, Julie Schneider, Megan Hamilton and Christopher Hamilton; and a brother, Noel Wright of Tallahassee, FL.

She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Wilson Wright, her father, J. Gilbert Wright (also the father of “Silly Putty“), her husband of 50 years, James Marsden, and a brother, L.M. Wright.

Her body was donated to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

Visitation at the home of her daughter, Molly Schneider, will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nashville Public Library, Richland Park Branch, 4711 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37209, or to the charity of your choice.

Eileen L. Antonelli
Schenectady -- Eileen L. Antonelli, 77, of Schenectady, died December 7, 2002 at Ellis Hospital after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Yonkers, she was the beloved daughter of the late Stanley and Evelyn Longendyke, and beloved granddaughter of the late Victor and Annie Longendyke.

Mrs. Antonelli moved to Saugerties in her youth and was a graduate of Saugerties High School. She had been a resident of Schenectady since the early 1940's.

A homemaker, Eileen was a volunteer patient representative at Ellis Hospital for many years.

Eileen was a member of the Schenectady Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the St. Joseph's Leisure Club, Our Lady of Fatima Senior's Club, Scotia–Glenville Senior Citizens, Inc., A.A.R.P. Chapter 4324, and also a member of the First Baptist Church of Schenectady.

She was the beloved wife of 58 years to Henry “Hank” Antonelli.

She was the beloved mother of Henry V. Antonelli of Albany; and loving grandmother to Lisa M. (Robert) Scaccia of Malta.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the DeMarco–Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, the Rev. Carole Miller officiating. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service in Mount Marion Cemetery, Saugerties.

Charlotte Schwender Bennett
Rotterdam -- Charlotte Schwender Bennett, 89, of Helderberg Avenue, died Friday at the Baptist Retirement Center in Scotia with her family around her.
Born in Brooklyn, Charlotte lived on Scotch Ridge Rd. in Duanesburg, until moving to live with her daughter in 1985.

She was a member of the Bellevue Reformed Church. Charlotte was a seamstress and homemaker, and she loved her gardening and animals.

Charlotte was devoted to her family and friends

Her husband, Herbert G. Bennett died December 1, 1984.

Charlotte is survived by her devoted daughter, Charlotte C. Boff of Rotterdam; her loving son, Herbert G. Bennett Jr. of Clinton, NY; seven grandchildren and 14 great–grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. at the White–VanBuren Funeral Home, 1779 Main St., Delanson.

Calling hours will precede the funeral Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Spring interment will be held in Grove Cemetery, Quaker Street, NY.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude for the loving care given to our loved one by the employees of the Baptist Retirement Center.

Mildred Blowers
Gloversville -- Mildred Blowers, 79, formerly of Gloversville, died December 6, 2002 at the Mount Loretto Nursing Home, Amsterdam following a long illness.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville where services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Ellen Shanahan Cody
Niskayuna -- Ellen Shanahan Cody, 88, formerly of Dover Rd., died Friday, December 6, 2002 at Glens Falls Hospital.
She was born on December 11, 1914 in Buffalo, New York, and was an area resident of Niskayuna since the early 1940's. She went to college at Chapel Hill in North Carolina.

Mrs. Cody worked at Union College as an administrative assistant at Wells House, then as an administrative director for the NYS Broadcasters Association for 25 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Mohawk Golf Club.

Mrs. Cody was predeceased by her husband, Charles P. Cody in 1996.

Survivors include one son, Jon Cody of Niskayuna.

Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10:30 from the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St. and 11:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. There will be no calling hours.

Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Tina A. (Wood) Dailey
Johnsonville -- Tina A. (Wood) Dailey, 27, of Clum Road, died suddenly on Thursday, December 5, 2002 from injuries sustained in a tragic motor vehicle accident on Route 67 in Schaghticoke. She was the daughter of Douglas and Kathleen (Dagostino) Wood, and the beloved wife of Patrick J. Dailey.
She was born in Schenectady on March 16, 1975. A lifetime resident of Clifton Park, Tina was a 1993 graduate of Shenendehowa High School. Following high school, Mrs. Dailey earned her BA from SUNY Potsdam in 1996 and then her master's in education from SUNY Albany in 2000.

Tina had a great love for travel and the arts, but most of all, for children and her family. She will be sadly missed by her first grade students which she taught at Okte Elementary School. Tina had been a teacher with the Shenendehowa School District for six years. She had been very active in their clubs and organizations.

Tina was a congregant of the United Methodist Church of Valley Falls.

In addition to her parents of Clifton Park, Tina is survived by her husband, Patrick, to whom she was married on July 30, 1999. She is also survived by one sister, Lori Sievers and her husband, Eric, of Latham; her maternal grandmother, Helen Rice of Schenectady; and her paternal grandmother, Edna Fisher of Rensselaer. Tina is also survived by her parents–in–law, Priscilla and David Chudzinski of Norwood, NY, and Elizabeth Dailey of Liverpool, NY, and the late John Dailey. Mrs. Dailey was the dear niece of Robert and Darlene Wood of Rensselaer, NY, Norman and Gail Dagostino of Prescott, AZ, Thomas and Patricia Diemer of Schenectady, and Joseph and Marjorie Melideo of Schenectady. She was the sister–in–law of Rebecca Dailey of Wilmington, NY; and step–sister–in–law to Ron and Cindy Dittmar of Chadwicks, NY, and Shelly Dittmar of Liverpool, NY. She was the beloved granddaughter–in–law of Glenn and Lorice Ibey of Norfolk, NY.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church, Route 146 in Clifton Park, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9 in Clifton Park, on Monday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Jonesville Cemetery.

A scholarship in Tina's name has been created and contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Tina A. Dailey Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Trustco Bank, 7 Clifton Country Road, Clifton Park, NY 12065, or at any Trustco branch.

The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.

Juliana R. Farrell
Schenectady -- Juliana R. Farrell, 94, of Union Street, formerly of Bruce St., Scotia, died Saturday, December 7, 2002 at Ellis Hospital after being stricken at home.
Born on August 9, 1908 in Hubbarton, Vermont, she was the daughter of the Rev. Edgar S. Vradenburg and Mara C. Ryall Farrell.

Mrs. Farrell attended Albany Business College and was employed as a secretary for the Schenectady Y.M.C.A., Scotia Board of Education and the American Cancer Society.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Schenectady, The Women's Society of the church, the Scotia Book Club, and a member of the P.E.O. (Professional Education Organization). She was an avid gardener, taking great pride in her roses.

Mrs. Farrell was married in 1934 to her husband, Edward A. Farrell, who passed away in 1982.

Survivors include two nieces, Alice Male of Prince Edward Island, Canada, and Doris Vradenburg Miller of Chelmsford, MA; and several great–nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 o'clock Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, 603 State Street, Schenectady. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday at the White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave., (Rt. 50), Scotia.

Burial will be at Vale Cemetery.

It is requested that flowers not be sent and memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church.

Gene F. Girard
Hyannis, MA -- Gene F. Girard, 79, passed in his sleep November 27 in Hyannis, MA.
A retired local real estate broker, OTB Commissioner, Vikings Restaurant owner and a Union College graduate, he was a WWII Army veteran, rerceiving a Purple Heart.

He is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Girard, and a niece, Michele Keith.

James R. Hines
Schenectady -- James R. Hines, 66, died Friday, December 6, 2002 at St. Clare's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Hudson, New York on July 8, 1936, he was the son of Claudine Thompson Hines and the late James E. Hines.

He was born and raised in Hudson, before retiring to Schenectady. He worked for Metro North and retired in 1995.

Mr. Hines is survived by a son, Andre Hines of California; two daughters, Anita Hines and Sonya Campbell, both of Hudson; five brothers, Ellison, James, William, Leonard, and George Hines; three sisters, Delores, Leila, and Murel “Leona”, several grandchildren and great–grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 11 at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St., Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service.

Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Schenectady.
