Bruce Hendricks Jr., 70, of Greenpoint Avenue, Liverpool, died Monday. Born in Elmira, he graduated from Onondaga Valley High School in 1949. He retired in 1991 after 19 years as a store manager for several Tops Markets in the Syracuse and Fulton areas. He had been a store manager for 19 years at Acme Markets. He was a member of Liverpool First United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis in Canandaigua. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors: His wife of 45 years, the former Viola VanAlstine; a daughter, Deborah L. Etta Iona "Sweetie" Jennings, 87, of 145 Charmouth Drive, Syracuse, died Thursday. Born in Florala, Ala., she attended Florida public schools. She was a machinist at General Electric for 10 years. She was a communicant of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mother's Board, sang in the senior choir and was a former usher. Her husband, Lucas, died previously. William J. Martin, 75, of Mexico died Sunday. Born in Canandaigua, he lived in North Syracuse and Fairport before moving to Mexico 20 years ago. He graduated from Syracuse University. He retired in 1993 from maintenance and security at the James A. FitzPatrick nuclear plant, Scriba, after 10 years. He also had managed Woodbury Lumber in Mexico. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife of 18 years, the former Edna M. Wright; a daughter, Sarah Martin of Syracuse; two sons, Chris of Constantia and Hugh of Central Square; two stepdaughters, Linda Raiti and Patricia Deloff, both of Pulaski; two stepsons, Stephen Powers of Cicero and Rockwell Powers of Red Creek; a brother, Henry of Rochester; several grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Elizabeth N. Morris-Pierce, 68, of Route 13, Cuyler, died Saturday. She was born in Philadelphia and had lived in Mattydale. She had been a local pastor at several Methodist churches. She was a secretary of Union Valley Cemetery Association, a member of the Advisory Board of Rural Services in Cincinnatus, choir director and organist for the South Otselic Methodist Church and member of the United Methodist Workers in South Otselic. Her first husband, the Rev. Norman Morris, died in 1990; her second husband, Wendall Pierce, died in 1995. Survivors: A daughter, Mary Franke of Clay; a foster son, Carl Metcalf of Syracuse; a brother, Edward Daniels of Cuyler; six grandchildren. Ann E. Melser Carey, 55, of 2401 32nd St. SE, Washington, D.C., died June 30 of cancer. Born in Syracuse, she lived here 25 years before moving to Washington in 1972. She graduated from State University College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse and earned a master's degree in 1972. She was a senior policy analyst for National Resources Conservation Service for 30 years and a soil scientist for the Environmental Protection Agency.
