John M. Kring
Native of Fulton
ALEXANDRIA BAY - John M. Kring, 62, of Alexandria Bay, died Feb. 21, 1998, at Geneva General Hospital.
A native of Fulton, he was the owner of Thousand Islands Produce and Greenhouses in Alexandria Bay. He dealt with several Syracuse produce markets.
Mr. Kring served 22 years and was past president of the Alexandria Bay School Board.
He is survived by his companion, Sandy Caputo of Alexandria Bay; three sons, Timothy and Tad, both of Naples, Fla., and Levi of Alexandria Bay; a daughter, Charlene of Alexandria Bay; a stepson, Ralph Caputo of Alexandria Bay; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Caputo of Alexandria Bay; three brothers, Roger of Chicago, and James and Norman, both of Fulton; four sisters, Lois Proietto, Mary Wagar and Victoria Willowby, all of Fulton, and Janice Kelly of Philadelphia; two grandchildren; and his former wife, Virginia Williams.
Costello Funeral Service, Alexandria Bay, had charge of arrangements.

Glenn R. Fleming
Worked as a car salesman
PHOENIX - Glenn R. "Cal" Fleming, 77, a resident of Main Street, died March 9, 1998, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.
A native of Volney, he resided in Fulton prior to moving to the Phoenix area in 1936.
He was a car saleman at Burritt Chevrolet in Hannibal and Oswego, retiring in 1978 after 25 years. He also raised horses and was involved in horse racing.
Mr. Fleming was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater as a chief torpedo-man.
He was noted in "Fire, Family and Friends" by Leslie Williams and was a member of Oswego River Phoenix Chapter #270 and Callimachus Masonic Phoenix Lodge 469.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rita A. (Potter) Fleming, who died in 1987.
He is survived by two sons, William J. of Washington, D.C., and Glenn R. II of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Debra Erickson of Tonawanda; a brother, Leonard of Fulton; a sister, Madeline Wall of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix, has charge of arrangements.

John Calpeter
Retired operation engineer
FULTON - John Calpeter, 91, of 100 Rochester St., Fulton, died March 8, 1998, in the A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Calpeter was born in Syracuse and had been a resident of Fulton for the past 11 years.
He was a retired operation engineer with the J.D. White Co., Syracuse.
Mr. Calpeter was a member of the Operating Engineer Local #545.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Calpeter, in 1984.
He is survived by one son, Paul Calpeter of Fulton; two sisters, Rose McCallops of Ogdensburg and Lena Reale of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., Fulton, with the Rev. Richard Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
Calling hours will be held from 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home, 224 W. Second St., Fulton.

Arthur S. Moore
Died today in Syracuse
OSWEGO - Arthur S. Moore, 79, of Route 176, Scriba, died March 10, 1998, at Crouse Irving Hospital, Syracuse.
He was the husband of Irene (Knosp) Moore.
Arrangements with Nelson Funeral Home are incomplete at this time. A complete obituary will appear in Wednesday's edition.

Myron F. Ballard
U.S. Army veteran
AUBURN - Myron F. Ballard, 46, died March 8, 1998, at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of Elizabeth Ballard and the late Myron O. Ballard.
Mr. Ballard was a resident of Auburn and was employed by First Union at the Finger Lakes Mall.
He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam era.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia of Auburn; a son, Myron of Fort Hood, Texas; two daughters, Theresa and Sylvia Ballard of Auburn; his mother, Elizabeth Ballard Gomon, and stepfather, William Gomon; three brothers, David and Thomas Ballard of Oswego, and William Ballard of Galena, Mo.; a sister, Elizabeth Ballard of Oswego; two stepbrothers, James Gomon of Maine and Robert Gomon of Oswego; two stepsisters, Sylvia Smith of Oswego and Grace Pritchard of Myrtle Beach, S.C. a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday from the Pettigrass Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.

Hazel C. Howard
Mount Pleasant UMC member
FULTON - Hazel C. Howard, 78, a former resident of 112 N. Seventh St., Fulton, died Aug. 5, 1998, at Sunrise Nursing Home in Oswego following a long illness.
A native of Oswego, Mrs. Howard resided most of her life in Fulton. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Volney and was also a member of the Women of the Moose, Fulton Lodge.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lyle W., who died in 1995.
Surviving are a daughter, Jean M. Howard of Fulton; a son, Bernard L. Howard of Fulton; a sister, Helen VanPatten of Hannibal; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Volney.
Calling hours will be held from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
Contributions may be made to the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2862 county Route 45, Fulton, NY 13069, or Sunrise Nursing Home, 17 Sunrise Drive, Oswego, NY 13126.

Lynn H. Gehan
Long-time employee at Alcan
OSWEGO - Lynn H. Gehan, 70, a resident of Oswego, was pronounced dead at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton Aug. 4, 1998.
Born in Ogdensburg, he was a son of the late Harold and Audrey (MacLean) Gehan. A graduate of Oswego High School, he resided in Oswego for most of his life.
Mr. Gehan was employed with the Alcan Corporation for almost 30 years until his retirement.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army from 1950-52.
Mr. Gehan was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #2320 and the American Legion #268.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Robert (Maida) LaTulip of Oswego; a brother, Robert (Patricia) Gehan of Scriba; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Gehan, and a sister, Louise Gehan.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
The family requests that contributions be made to Our Lady's Youth Center, P.O. Box 1422, El Paso, Texas 79948.
Arrangements are in care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.

Ann M. Niger
Taught at Oswego schools
OSWEGO - Ann M. Niger, 77, a resident of 237 Munn St., Oswego, died Aug. 5, 1998, at Crouse-Irving Hospital in Syracuse.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Katherine (Melody) LaTour and was a life resident.
She was a graduate of the Oswego High School and Nazareth College, cum laude. She received her master's degree from Syracuse University and attended Middlebury College School of Languages.
Mrs. Niger taught French, Latin and English for several years at Oswego High School. She also taught at Kingsford Park School.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and was a former member of St. Paul's Altar Rosary Society.
She loved gardening and was an avid golfer and bowler.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, James Niger; two daughters, Alice Niger and Katherine Williams, both of Oswego; a son, John Niger of Oswego; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from St. Joseph's Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Ararngements are in care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made in Mrs. Niger's name to a charity of one's choice.

Marietta Maier
Long-time Altmar resident
ALTMAR - Marietta "Mary" Maier, 80, of Route 22, Altmar, died Aug. 5, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center.
A native of Rochester, she graduated in 1937 from Irondequoit High School. She moved to Altmar 22 years ago.
A member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pulaski, Mrs. Maier was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Francis J.; a son, John F. of Altmar; two daughters, Ann M. Gavin of Syracuse and Mary Ellen Bauman of Rochester; a brother, Jack Shea of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are with Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski.

Lottie E. Perkins
Native of Baldwinsville
FULTON - Lottie E. Perkins, 93, of Fulton, died Nov. 20, 1998, at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton.
Born in Baldwinsville, she was the daughter of the late Fred Andrews and Minnie Austin. She worked several years as a laborer at the Car Freshener of Watertown.
Mrs. Perkins was a member of the Granby Senior Citizens Group and a past member of the Oswego County Home Bureau Association.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne, in 1984; her son, Neil Perkins, in 1978; and her grandson, Wayne Perkins, in 1990.
Surviving are her daughter, Betty Mace of Fulton; her brother, Frederick Andrews of Hannibal; her sister, Doris Douglas of Fulton; three granddaughters, Annette and Maxine Perkins, both of Watertown, and Connie Henderson of Fulton; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Services and burial are private.
There are no calling hours.
Contributions can be made to Cody Volunteer Fire Department, Jacksonville Road, Fulton, NY 13069.

Thelma M. Duffy
Worked as homemaker
FULTON - Thelma M. Duffy, 74, of Fulton, died Nov. 20, 1998, at University Hospital.
A native of Lincoln, she was a homemaker.
Surviving are a daughter, Jean Ellen Aldrich of Hannibal; a son, Jack L. Harrington Jr. of Blossvale; three sisters, Ada Jeffers of Dansville, Shirley Wiggins of Florida and Beatrice Schmidtka of Oneida; five brothers, Charles Mason of Middletown, Pa., Milton Mason of Oneida, LeGrand Mason of Gerogia, Albert Mason of Munnsville and Jim Mason of Stockbridge.
Greenleaf Funeral Home, Syracuse, has charge of arrangements.
