BROWN, RUTH BUTLER - Mrs. Ruth Butler Brown died on August 13 at Nathaniel Witherell in Greenwich, CT. She was the widow of Raymond D. Brown, Sr. They were longtime residents of Scarsdale. Mrs. Brown is survived by a stepdaughter, Roberta Brown Mosher of Old Greenwich, CT, a stepson, Raymond D. Brown, Jr. predeceased her. A private graveside service was held August 15 at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.

BRUNDAGE, DONALD CLARK - Donald C. Brundage of New Rochelle, NY died Saturday, August 12. Donald was 82. He lived in Port Chester from 1946 to 1991. Mr. Brundage was born May 7, 1918 in Armonk, NY to the late James Chester and Mabel Hunter Brundage. He worked in the hardward business for nearly 50 years, starting his career at DK Allen in Greenwich, CT and from 1952-1988 at Frank L. Rocky Hardware in Port Chester, NY. He served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945 as a Technical Sergeant and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the attack. He was married October 26, 1946 at Summerfield Methodist Church in Port Chester to Jean Burns. Mrs. Brundage died October 5, 1987. Mr. Brundage was actively involved with the Port Chester Boy Scouts and enjoyed photography and cars. He is survived by his son Richard Brundage and granddaughter, Allison Brundage, both of Millwood, NY. Visitation will be at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. on Wednesday, August 16, 2000 from 5-9 PM. Funeral service will be on Thursday, August 17 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Middle Patten Cemetery, Banksville, NY. BRUNSMAN, MARY PATRICIA - Mary Patricia Brunsman of Pearl River died Saturday August 12, 2000 at her residence. Born September 30, 1942 to Elmer and Ann Taneyhill Brunsman in Baltimore, MD. A 1965 graduate of Good Counsel College in White Plains she earned a Master Degree in Library Science from Long Island University in 1967. Director of the Nanuet Public Library for 30 years. A member of the American Association of University Women and the Nanuet Rotary Club. She married her husband James J. O‘ Malley September 8, 1979 at St. Anthony‘s Church, Nanuet. A Pearl River resident for over 20 years, she formerly resided in Nanuet. She was an exceptional person in her courage and generosity to everyone. Beloved wife of James J. O‘malley. Loving daughter of Ann Brunsman of Montgomery, NY and the late Elmer Brunsman, Sr. Caring sister of Elmer Brunsman, Jr. of Montgomery, NY. CALDWELL, RAYMOND T. - Raymond T. Caldwell, Sr, a longtime resident of Mount Vernon, NY, died on Saturday, August 12, 2000 at Mount Vernon Hospital in Mount Vernon, NY. He was 88. Mr. Caldwell was born on June 2, 1912 in Asheville, NC to George and Pearl Tinsley Caldwell. He was educated in Clearfield, PA and graduated from Clearfield High School. He attended St. Paul‘s College in Lawrenceville, VA. On June 2, 1979, he married Dolores Patterson. Mr. Caldwell will be remembered for his love of sports. He is survived by his wife Dolores; son, Raymond, Jr.; a sister, Mildred Holley; three brothers, Earl, Nathaniel and William Caldwell; also several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Calling hours Thursday, August 17 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Lee O. Wood Funeral Home. Funeral service to follow at 12 Noon at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

CHASE, LESLIE R. - Leslie R. Chase, a longtime Peekskill, NY resident, died at Middletown Park Manor Nursing Home on Sunday, August 13, 2000. He was 75 years old. Mr. Chase was born in Peekskill November 3, 1924, the son of Leslie and Anna Naylor Chase and was graduated from the Peekskill High School, class of 1942. During World War 2, Mr. Chase served in the US Navy as a Signalman Second Class aboard a submarine chaser. He was awarded five battle stars for his Navy Service. Mr. Chase was married to Rosemarie Gilmartin on December 25, 1944 at the Assumption Church Rectory, Peekskill; she survives. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator by Teamsters Local 456, Elmsford, having worked at various construction companies and sites in the area. Mr. Chase is survived by his wife Rosemarie Chase of Middletown, two daughters, Donna L. Chase of Bloomingburg, NY and Janice DeRonda of Austin, TX, one son, Leslie T. Chase of Peekskill, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family is requesting that contributions in Mr. Chase‘s memory be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 149 Madison Avenue, NYC 10016. Visiting will be at the Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, Peekskill on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 12 noon, with Rev. Robert Hoag, officiating. COHEN, SANDRA - Sandra Cohen, of Hartsdale, NY, died August 13, 2000. She was born in the Bronx, NY on April 3, 1932 to Carl and Bessie Chaikin. She was a graduate of New York University and received a Masters Degree in Education. She taught elementary school for 26 years in the Mt. Vernon Public Schools before retiring in 1987. She lived in Mt. Vernon for 30 years before living in Hartsdale for the past 16 years. She is survived by her beloved husband, Harvey, of 46 years, daughter Shari DiPaola of Bedford , her sister Corrine Edelbaum of Hartsdale, mother-in-law Yetta Cohen of Miami Beach, as well as two sons-in-law and three grandchildren. CUOZZO, EDITH - Edith Cuozzo, a longtime resident of Yonkers died on August 13, 2000 at the age of 89. Beloved sister if Ida O‘Connor of Highland Park, NJ and the late Caroline Chiaverini, Sadie Depota, Rose Falcone, Anthony, Alphonse and Joseph Cuozzo. DOWNS, JOHN G. - John G. Downs, a New Rochelle resident, died on August 11, 2000. He was 72. Mr. Downs was born in Boston on September 15, 1927 to the late Thomas J. and Margaret R. (Quinn) Downs. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #8. In 1965, he married Louise Dormi. Mr. Downs was a Science Teacher at Albert Leonard Junior High School for 18 years before his retirement in 1980. In addition to his former wife, Louise, Mr. Downs is survived by four children, John G. Downs, Jr. of Syracuse, Jo Ann Snow of Amityville, Rosemary De Renzo of Largo, FL, and Toni Migliore of New Rochelle. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. DUSANENKO, TEDDY B. - Teddy B. Dusanenko of New City, died on August 12, 2000 at Nyack Hospital. He was 82 years old. Mr. Dusanenko was born August 18, 1917 in Newark, NJ to John and Ann Dusanenko. Mr. Dusanenko has lived in New City since 1956, prior the Bronx. He retired after 35 years as a driver for the New York Daily News. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School and played with the Ukrainian American Tridents Basketball Team. He was a member of New City Senior Citizens Club #1. He was one of the founders of the New City Ambulance Corps, and still a member; He was District Leader of the Board of Elections; Committee member of the Republican Party; longtime member of the Ukrainian American Legion and Commander for 12 years. He was also a veteran of the United States Army in World War II in the 88th Division "Blue Devils", and was Rockland County Veteran of the Year 1994. His wife Harriet died in 1997. He is survived by two sons, Theodore of Valley Cottage and Gerald of New City; a daughter, Andrea Hartwick of Upper Nyack and three grandchildren, Heather Ann Olivo of Hoboken, NJ; Tara Ann Hartwick of Upper Nyack; and Johanna Maria Dusanenko of Santa Anna, Costa Rica. EIKENBERG, EVELYN A. - Evelyn A. Eikenberg (nee Weber), 91, of Bloomington, IL, died of natural causes on August 13, 2000 at Asta Care Center of Bloomington. Mrs. Eikenberg was born November 27, 1908 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of Conrad Weber and Maggie Ott Weber. On May 29, 1935, she married John H. Eikenberg in Baltimore, MD. He died January 29, 1984. Evelyn was a lifetime member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasantville. She is survived by her sons Richard (Joyce) Eikenberg of Bloomington, IL and John M. GAFFIGAN, WALTER P. - Walter P. Gaffigan, 78, of Springfield, IL, died at home on Sunday, August 13, 2000. Walter was born May 4, 1922 in Springfield, IL to John F. and Mary H. Albright Gaffigan. On May 5, 1944, he married Loretta M. Liggett. Mr. Gaffigan was a Springfield resident most of his life. He formerly resided in Valhalla from 1961-1981 and Somers from 1981-1995. He retired from IBM after 33 years in the Data Processing/Marketing Dept. He was a member of St. Agnes Church; Knights of Columbus; a Marine Corp. Pilot during WWII and the Korean War; member, Holy Name of Jesus, Valalla and St. Joseph‘s, Somers, NY. He is survived by his wife, Loretta M. Gaffigan of Springfield, IL; one daughter, Patricia J. Griffin of Philadelphia, PA; one son, Michael R. Gaffigan of Sydney, Australia; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Herbert T. GAITHER, HESTER - On August 7, 2000 Mrs. Hester Gaither took her journey to Heaven. Mrs. Gaither has been a citizen of Yonkers, New York for a number of years. She was also a member of Mesiah Baptist Church until she moved of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 3 years ago. She will be mourned by her 2 daughters, Mrs. Thelma Ford of Yonkers, New York and Mrs. Geraldine Rogers of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren. GAUKER, MARY T. - Mary T. Gauker of Yorktown Hgts, NY passed away on August 12, 2000. Mary was 89 years old. Born in New York City on March 21, 1911, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Rooney. Mary lived in Yorktown Hgts. for the past 18 years, moving here from the Bronx. She was a member of St. Patrick‘s Church and the Horizons Senior Citizens of Yorktown. Her husband Andrew passed away in 1960. She is survived by her daughter Anne Gotzen and two sons John and Andrew Gauker. Five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive her. Her sister Teresa Pollet also survives. MASTERSON, CLARA - Clara Masterson of Suffern, NY, died on Sunday, August 13, 2000 at Ramapo Manor Home. She was 97 years old. Mrs. Masterson was born on June 4, 1903 to George and Ada Smith in Tuxedo, NY. She is the wife of the late Walter Masterson, Sr. He died in 1950. A son, Robert Owen Masterson also died earlier. RUOTOLO, LOUIS N. - Louis N. Ruotolo of Eastchester, died on August 13, 2000 at his residence. He was 73. Louis is survived by his loving brother, Michael Ruotolo and sister-in-law Rita, as well as many nieces and nephews. His sister Mary Minuni died earlier. STRUETT, WALTER - Walter Struett of Valley Cottage, New York died Saturday August 12, 2000 at Nyack Hospital, he was 82. Walter was born June 19, 1918 in Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany to Adolph and Ida (Bohnert) Struett. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a POW in Germany. SUROVICH, JOHN - John Surovich of Dobbs Ferry died on August 13, 2000. John was born in Tarrytown on March 27, 1911 to John and Mary Surovich. John worked for G.M. at the Tarrytown plant. He was a W.W.II Army veteran. John is survived by three sisters, Mary Turco of Dobbs Ferry, Anna Nappi of Mt. Kisco, and Pauline Collelo of Port St. Lucie, FL. She loved to paint and was a wonderful piano player. Mrs. Wichtendahl is predeceased by her husband Charles, and daughter Roberta. MAZZUCHELLI, PETER - Peter Mazzuchelli, Sr., age 96, died on August 12, 2000 at Albert Einstein Hospital in the Bronx. His wife Susie died on the same day August 12, 1997. He is survived by his daughter Emma Cocozza and two sons Peter, Jr. and Robert P. Mazzuchelli. Also surviving are four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and other family members in Italy. Visiting at the Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. in Eastchester Monday evening from 6-9 pm. Service at the Funeral Home Tuesday morning at 10 am followed by entombment at Ferncliff Mausoleum.

MCENTIRE, MARION V. - Marion V. McEntire, of Salisbury Mills, NY, formerly of New City and Kunkletown, PA died at home on August 13, 2000. She was 75 years old. She was born on August 30, 1924 in Bronx, NY to Louis and Dorothy Hernkindt Motta. She was married to the late Walter McEntire. Mrs. McEntire, a homemaker, was a former employee of Sears Rosebuck in Nanuet, NY and a member of the Altar Rosary Society at Queen of Peace Church in Broadheadville, PA. She is survived by five sons, Glen Walter McEntire of Lancaster, MA, Daniel W. McEntire of Salisbury Mills, NY, Peter W. McEntire of Hampton, VA, David W. McEntire of Kunkletown, PA and Paul W. McEntire of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Eugene Motta of Social Circle, GA and Gerald T. Motta of Johnson, NY; one sister, Dorothy McDermott of Cape Coral, FL; 15 grand and 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 15, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. MURPHY, MARTHA A. - Martha A. Murphy (Dunn) a lifetime resident of Hastings -On-Hudson died on August 13, 2000 at the Cabrini Nursing Home. Born on August 23, 1919 in Hastings-On -Hudson to the late Richard T. and Nora Dunn, she was 80. On December 28, 1945 Martha married her loving husband, John in St. John the Evangelist Church in New York City. He predeceased her in 1995. Beloved mother of Joanne (John) Carroll of Granite Springs, NY, Ellen (David) Parker of Hastings-On-Hudson, Janet Murphy of Hastings-On-Hudson, and Marti Murphy of Grand Junction, Co. Fond grandmother of Patrick and Meghan Carroll and Brian and Sean Parker. Cherished sister of Dorothy Bingham of Hastings-On-Hudson and the late Richard T. and Francis Dunn, Eileen Audevard, Leonora Graham and Lois Maher.
