FERRARO, JOHN A. - John A. Ferraro, Sr., of Rye Brook, died January 22, 2001 at N.Y. United Hospital in Port Chester. He was 75. Mr. Ferraro was self-employed in Michele's Hair Styling on Westchester Avenue for 40 years. For the last 20 years, he worked side by side with his daughter Michele. He was born December 16, 1925 in Port Chester to Angelo and Mary Matturo Ferraro. He graduated Port Chester High School in 1944. Mr. Ferraro was served in the Army during WWII from 1944-1946. On November 24, 1957, he married Mary Ann Gallicano at Resurrection Church in Rye, NY. He was a lifelong local resident and a member of Corpus Christi Church. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Ferraro of Rye Brook, son John Ferraro, Jr. of Port Chester, daughter Michele Cabrera of New Fairfield, CT, son Larry Ferraro of Port Chester, his sister, Beatrice Pace of Port Chester, 6 grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father and mother. Calling hours are Wednesday 5 to 9 pm at James J. Gunipero Funeral Home, Inc., The funeral is Thursday at Corpus Christi Church at 10:45 am. FLYNN, SUSAN - Susan Flynn (nee Doherty) of Brewster died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at the age of 90. Born on November 12, 1910 to Maryann and John Doherty in County Donegal, Ireland where she was raised and educated. On February 7, 1947 she married William Flynn in St. Jean the Baptist Church in New York City. He died on June 18, 1973. Mrs. Flynn was a communicant of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Brewster, NY. She is the cherished mother of Mary Dolan of Brewster and Susan Rachis of Raleigh, NC, and loving grandmother of William, Maureen and Patricia. Mrs. Flynn was predeceased by her three sisters, Elizabeth, Nanna and Rosie and two brothers, Patrick and James. Family and friends are invited to Beecher Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. GALLI, RINA - Rina Galli, a resident of Hartsdale, NY, died Sunday, January 21, 2001, at the age of 78. Rina is survived by her beloved husband, Primo Galli, her devoted children, James and his wife Janet Galli, Mary Louise and her husband George Berghorn, and her loving grandchildren, George Henry Berghorn and Jenny Lynn Galli. GERSON, PHILIP B. - Philip B. Gerson, 35, a Stamford, CT resident, died of cancer, at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, CT, January 22, 2001. Mr. Gerson was born September 24, 1965, the son of Robert and the late Sandra Gerson, and was raised in Tarrytown, NY, where he attended the public schools. In Tarrytown he was active in Dad's Club, the Cub and Boy Scouts, school bands and was a member of the Sleepy Hollow High School tennis team. In Stamford, he coached his son's Little League baseball team. He graduated with honors from Colgate University and the Boston University School of Law. He was an elected member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, and received the American Jurisprudence Award from BU. A practicing attorney, Mr. Gerson was an associate in the New York City firm of Roseman & Colin. Survivors include his wife Beth, son Timothy, daughter Laura and his father. A Memorial Service will be held 1 pm Saturday, January 27, at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, at 2900 Summer Street in Stamford. JOHNSON, ALBERT L. "BUD" - Albert L. "Bud" Johnson age 84 of Oak Hill Avenue, Attleboro, MA died January 18, 2001 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the Husband of the late Margaret A. (Richardson) Johnson. He was born in Orangeburg, NY a son of the late George and Catherine (Edsall) Johnson. He had lived in Attleboro for the past two years having lived most of his life in Orangeburg. He had worked for the Orangetown Highway Dept. for many years before he retired in 1980. He was a former Chief of the Orangeburg Volunteer Fire Dept. and had later served as a member of the Orangeburg Fire Department Police. He was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Wawayanda Masonic Lodge #35 F. & AM of Sparkill, NY and had received their Dedicated Service award. He leaves two daughters, Evelyn J. Sanford and Pamela R. Furey both of Attleboro. Two brothers Raymond Johnson of Pomona, NY and Clarence "Chub" Johnson of West Newton, MA and one sister Marjorie Ostrom of Sparkill, NY, one grandson Joshua M. Sanford of Attleboro and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ida Holley, Charles "Whit" Johnson, William C. "Dick" Johnson and George C. "Ches" Johnson. MARTIN, DENA ANN - Dena Ann Martin departed this life on January 22, 2001 at the W.C.M.C. She was born on January 27, 1964 in Yonkers, NY to Beatrice Stewart and Jessie Martin Sr. She was a member of the Community Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Kaseem Mitchell, her father Jessie Martin Sr., siblings, Mavis Martin-Gilham, Eric and Jessie Martin Jr., and a host of other relatives and friends. Reposing, Friday 2-4 at the Brooks Memorial Home, 275 Warburton Avenue, Yonkers, and 7 to 9 at the Community Baptist Church, 156 No. Broadway, Yonkers. Funeral Service Saturday 9am at the Church. MONESTIME, MARIE ANGE - Marie Ange Monestime, a former Nyack resident, died in Bridgeport, CT on January 19, 2001. She was 40. Born on November 7, 1960 in Miragoane, Haiti. Marie completed her education through the Nyack School District. She was well appreciated at Pitney Bowes in Stamford, CT, where she worked for several years and received numerous awards for her leadership, team work, and hard work. She was a loving and caring individual. As a devoted daughter, mother, sister, cousin and aunt, her first priority was the well being of the family. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Julien; five brothers, Joseph, Paul, John, Henry (Brown), Serge and one sister, Marie; as well as a son, Gerald Francois. She will be missed dearly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2001 at 9AM at St. Ann's R.C. Church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack, NY. NADEAU, EDWARD O. - Edward O. Nadeau, a resident of Ossining, died Monday, January 22, 2001. He was 62. Mr. Nadeau was a veteran serving in the US Air Force. He served as an Eucharistic Minster of St. Ann's Church and was also an active member of the Ossining Moose Lodge. Mr. Nadeau is survived by his wife Jackie, four sons, Richard, Ronald, Robert and Edward, three grandchildren, Danielle, Patricia and Andrew. PELTON, MARJORIE ANNE - Marjorie Anne Pelton of Syracuse, NY passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2001 in Inova Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, VA. Marjorie was born on May 21, 1945 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. She grew up in Mamaroneck, NY, where she attended the Rye Neck schools until moving to Scarsdale, NY. She graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1963 and obtained a degree from Syracuse University. She became involved in local politics while working in the Syracuse City offices and on political campaigns for then City Auditor Roy Bernardi. She was asked by now U.S. Congressman James T. Walsh to assist in two campaigns for him, the first being his Primary run for County Executive, and later, in 1988, his campaign for the U.S. Congressional Seat for the 25th District in New York. In 1989 she became the Office Manager for Congressman Walsh's Washington D.C. office. Marjorie also worked as Coordinator for the Congressional Nominations to the U.S. Service Academies from the 25th Congressional District. In a statement today, Mr. Walsh said "Marge was not only a loyal and trusted employee, she was a friend. Mrs. Walsh and I, as well as our entire staff, are deeply saddened by her passing." Marjorie will be remembered for her dedication, her strong sense of duty and allegiance, the warmth and caring she extended to others, as well as her sense of humor. She is survived by her father, Russell G. Pelton of Larchmont, NY, her brother William E. Pelton of New York City, her sister Marilyn P. Barringer of Montrose, NY, one nephew, four nieces and two great-nieces. Services will be held on Thursday, January 25 at Presbyterian Church, 11 Jones Street, Monticello, NY at 2:00 PM, with interment at Rock Ridge Cemetery, Monticello. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent in memory of Marjorie to the American Heart Association.

PITOCCO, HELEN - Helen Pitocco, a resident of Port Chester died January 22, 2001. She was 82 and born September 30, 1918 in Yonkers, NY to the late Frederick and Anna Danleo Moscowitch. She graduated from Hastings on Hudson High School and moved to Port Chester in 1941. She was married June 15, 1941 at Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Yonkers, NY to Peter A. Pitocco. Mr. Pitocco died June 20, 1995. Mrs. Pitocco was a homemaker. She is survived by her son Peter A. Pitocco, Jr. of Port Chester, NY daughter Lorraine P. Baird of Norwalk, CT., a brother, Stephen, Moscowitch of Staten Island, NY and two grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brothers, William and Alexander Moscowitch. Visitation will be at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. on Thursday January 25 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. SHAW, RICHARD R. - Richard R. Shaw, of Yorktown Hgts., passed away on January 21, 2001. He was 43. Mr. Shaw was born November 26, 1957 in Staten Island, NY to Richard H. and Jean (Schaefer) Shaw. He attended Monsignor Farrell High School. He received a Bachelors of Science Degree from Polytechnic Institute of NY in Brooklyn, where he majored in mathematics and minored in computer science. He also attended graduate studies at the Polytechnic Institute in Hawthorne, NY. Mr. Shaw worked as technical lead/software engineer for BAE Systems in Yonkers. He has been with the company for over 20 years. On April 26, 1985 he married Ann Bergenson at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale. His interests include Hockey (Ranger Fan), science fiction, computer and video games, reading, cooking and especially being with his family. He had a lengthy softball career as pitcher and shortstop. He was a member of R.S.N.D. of Staten Island. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his loving wife Ann of Yorktown Hgts., beloved father to Kristin and Kerri, brother to Elizabeth McGowan of Yorktown, Phyllis Plohetski of Endwell, NY, Barbara Marren of Brick, NJ, Robert Shaw of Hoboken, NJ and Russell Bergenson of New Rochelle, NY, son-in-law to Richard and Myrna Bergenson of Yonkers, NY. SKIDMORE, VIOLET M. - Violet M. Skidmore died on January 18, 2001, after a long illness. She was born on July 24, 1925 in Monsey, NY, to Clarence and Amelia (Rogers) Eckerson. She was a former employee of Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, NY, before moving to Pompano Beach, FL, where she worked for the City of Oakland Park for several years. She is predeceased by her husband Paul G. Skidmore and a brother Chester Eckerson. She is survived by two sons, Garry of Grahamsville, and Paul of Hyde Park. She is also survived by a brother Charles Eckerson of Grahamsville, and two sisters, Jennie Kruithof of Chestnut Ridge, and Genevieve Dell'Olio of Orangeburg, and 7 grandchildren. The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimers Assoc.

TILLINGHAST, WILLIAM P. - William P. Tillinghast, a lifelong resident of Pelham, NY, died on January 19, 2001 at the age of 84. He was born February 29, 1916 in Mt. Vernon, NY to Harold and Dorothy (Pratt) Tillinghast. Mr. Tillinghast was a graduate of Pelham Memorial High School. He earned an AB Degree in English Literature from Harvard University and attended Graduate School of English Literature at Columbia University. On December 27, 1941 he married Loraine Tuttle Gregg at Huguenot Memorial Church in Pelham Manor, NY. Mr. Tillinghast served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Tillinghast worked as a Personnel Director for the Westchester Rockland Newspapers in White Plains, NY. He was with the company for 38 years before he retired in 1974. He was a member of the Huguenot Yacht Club. Mr. Tillinghast enjoyed weather forecasting, piano playing, bird watching, chess, and writing poetry and letters. In 1985 he published a book of poetry called Recollection. Mr. Tillinghast is survived by two daughters, Janet T. Fitzpatrick of Campbell Hall, NY and Susan T. Padin of Huntington, CT, two grandchildren, Keith M. and Reed W. Padin, one great granddaughter Abigail Rose Padin. He was predeceased by his wife Loraine and his sister Ruth Tillinghast. TREROTOLA, ANN M. "TOOTSIE" - Ann M. Trerotola "Tootsie," died peacefully at her home in Yonkers on January 23, 2001 at the age of 76. On June 25, 1944 Ann married her loving husband Philip in the Bronx. He survives. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and knitting and spending time with her family and grandchildren. ZACCHIO, MARGARET - Margaret Zacchio, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, died on January 23, 2001. She was 88 years old. Margaret was born on August 2, 1912 to Inneugenzo and Josephine Vetere DeFemio. She married Joseph Zacchio on June 28, 1931 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He predeceased her in 1979. Mrs. Zacchio was employed as a beader with the ILGWU in Yonkers. Margaret was a parishioner at St. Bartholomew's Church where she was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Margaret belonged to Group 6 Seniors in Bryn Mawr. Her family said she enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren which she loved very much. Beloved mother of Joseph (Frances), Eugene Zacchio and Kathryn (Salvatore) Petti. Loving sister of Albert DeFemio. She was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel, John DeFemio, and a sister, Angela Torre. Adored grandmother of five, great grandmother of 11. ANGELO, JOSEPHINE A. - Josephine A. Angelo died January 21, 2001. She was born in Yonkers on September 18, 1922, to Vincent and Concetta Addorisio. She was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Irvington High School. On November 19, 1944 Josephine married Charles Angelo in Dobbs Ferry. Together with her sister-in law Jean Cariot she owned the House of Charm Beauty Salon in Dobbs Ferry from 1954-1993. From 1993 to the present she has owned the House of Charm gift shop with her daughter Antonia. Josephine enjoyed traveling and collecting ethnic jewelry and folk art. Survivors include her husband Charles D. Angelo of Dobbs Ferry, her daughter and son-in-law, Antonia and Peter Goodspeed of Putnam Valley, NY, one sister Ann Gulli and a special cousin Maria (Nella) Sangiuliano. Mass of the Resurrection 9:30 am Wednesday at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Dobbs Ferry. Visiting Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, Inc. CIPOLLA, VINCENT P. - Vincent P. Cipolla, 94, of Haworth, NJ, died Jan. 21, 2001 in Heritage at Norwood, Norwood, NJ. He was born in NYC, lived in Staten Island and the last 60 years, Haworth. A Veteran of WW II, serving with the US Navy and the 4th Division US Marines in the Marshall and Mariana Island Operations in the Pacific, U.S. Navy 53rd Naval Construction Batt. - HDQ Co. and U.S. Marine Corp., 4th Marine Div-3rd Batt.-20th Marines. Before retiring in 1974, he was a Civil Engineer for the City of New York for 45 years. A member of the Dumont Senior Citizens, Dumont, NJ and Haworth Senior Citizens, Haworth, NJ, the Haworth American Legion Post #13, and a parishioner of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Closter, NJ. Surviving are his two daughters, Patricia of Haworth, Kris Stilwell of Valley Cottage, three grandchildren, Jessie Ann Stilwell, Francine McIntyre, Shawn Stilwell, his great grandson Christopher Stilwell, and his brother Victor E.
