COLEMAN, ROBERT JR. - Robert Coleman Jr. of Pomona, died January 19, 2001 at Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Care Center. He was 63. DERENZIS, FLORENCE P. - Florence P. Derenzis, age 67, of Shelton, CT, formerly of Port Chester, NY, on January 21, 2001, at Greenwich Hospital. Born in Greenwich, August 29, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marie Filato Perrone. She was a retired secretary for Fortune Brands. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Derenzis, and by a brother, Lawrence Perrone. She is survived by 2 sons, Ernest Derenzis, of Monroe, CT and Louis Derenzis of Poughkeepsie, NY, one sister, Rose Vitti, of Port Chester, NY. Also survived by 4 grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, 9:30am, at Corpus Christi Church, 136 South Regent St., Port Chester, NY. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook, NY. FAILING, HAROLD I. - Harold I. Failing of Nyack, NY a longtime resident died Sunday January 21, 2001 at Summit Park Hospital in Pomona. He was 95. Mr. Failing worked as an industrial arts teacher for Nyack High School. He was with the High School for 33 years before retiring in 1964. He was a line coach for Nyack High School for 30 years. Mr. Failing was born December 14, 1905 in Lowville, NY to Ira and Florence Failing. He was educated in Lowville and graduated from Lowville High School in 1926. He earned a bachelors degree in teaching from Oswego State University in 1930. On August 6, 1931 he married Harriet Barnes at Christ Episcopal Church in Oswego, NY. Mr. Failing lived in Summit Park for the past 1 1/2 years. Before that he lived in Pearl River with his son from 1991 to 1999 and in Nyack from 1932 until 1991. Locally, he was a Chairman for the Industrial Arts Department at Nyack High School. Mr. Failing will be remembered for his love of his family, teaching, golf and hunting. He is survived by his son and daughter in law John and Diane Failing of Pearl River, daughters Ann Kuntz of Cincinnati, Ohio and Brenda Failing of Pearl River, 9 grandchildren Christopher Failing of Nyack, Shawn Failing of Highland Falls, NY, Amy and Amanda Failing of Pearl River, Lori Raboy of CA, Sherri Romaine of PA, Jeff Lenoff of CA, Karen Forg of OH, and Kristen Sheaherd of SC and 6 great grandchildren Jake Failing, Nicholas and Arianna Raboy, Jordan and Justin Lenoff and Justin Forg. FETT-BLOOM, ERNA TRUDE - Erna Trude Fett-Bloom, 71, a 31 year resident of White Plains, died January 20, 2001. She was born October 6, 1929 in Muenchweiler-An- Der-Rottalp, Germany to Johanna and Gustav Fett. She was educated in Germany. She married Howard Bloom September 24, 1963 in White Plains. She was a homemaker who attended Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains. survived by husband, Howard Bloom at home, one daughter, Mimi Wentworth of New Rochelle; a brother-in-law Lee and sister-in-law Joan and family; a sister-in-law Bethanne Lang and family; son-in-law Jeff Wentworth; father-in-law, Joseph Bloom; and a brother Erich Fett and family of Germany. GALLI, RINA - Rina Galli, a resident of Hartsdale, NY, died Sunday, January 22, 2001, at the age of 78. 'Rina is survived by her beloved husband, Primo Galli, her devoted children, James and his wife Janet Galli, Mary Louise and her husband George Berghorn, and Janet Galli, and her loving grandchildren, George Henry Berghorn and Jenny Lynn Galli. GRUNFELD, LORE L. - Lore L. Grunfeld of Sebastian, FL, formerly of Yonkers, NY, died January 15, 2001 at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach, FL. Born in Germany on June 26, 1920, she was the daughter of Samuel and Emma Hollander. On January 5, 1939, she married Ernst Grunfeld. Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years; two daughters, Marietta Miller of Oklahoma City, OK and Gabriella Kurtz of Yonkers, NY; four grandchildren, David and Michelle Kurtz, Lyanna Miller Gibbs and Peter Miller. HOEY, MARY FOUDY - Mary Foudy Hoey, a former sixty-five year resident of Port Chester died in her home January 3, 2001 in Sacramento, CA. She moved to Sacramento in 1984. She was born in Brooklyn, NY August 2, 1911 and moved to Port Chester in 1919. She was the daughter of the late Dennis Foudy and Bridget Barry Foudy. She was the wife of the late Lawrence J. Hoey of Port Chester and was predeceased by her brother, Thomas J. Foudy of Rye Brook. She is survived by a daughter, Anne Hoey Damiano of Baltimore and a son, Lawrence D. Hoey of Sacramento. A nephew, Thomas B. Foudy of Rye Brook also survives. From 1941 to 1943 Mrs. Hoey was employed by the Wright Aeronautical Company at Woodridge, NJ in the production of the B-29 Aircraft Bomber, which was instrumental in the effort of the Allied Victory of World War II. From 1965 until 1975 she was an employee of Westchester County, Administrative Services, Department of Social Services in White Plains. A Mass was offered at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Sacramento, followed by inurnment at St. Mary's Mausoleum, Sacramento.

ISERNIA, MARIA - Maria Isernia, a Suffern resident died Monday, January 22, 2001 at the Ramapo Manor Care Facility at the age of 65. Mrs. Isernia was born on February 3, 1935 in Avella, Italy to Luigi and Lucia Esposito where she was raised and attended schools and married Nicola Isernia on February 5, 1956. Maria worked as a line operator for Avon Products for over 15 years. In addition to her devoted husband Nicola, she is survived by her loving children Auggie Isernia of Warwick, NY, Louis Isernia of Doylestown, PA, and Josephine Mania of New Hempstead, NY; her dear brothers and sisters, Giuseppe and Antonio Esposito, Giuseppina D'Avanzo and Anna Canonico, all of Italy; and her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Louis Jr, Christina, Vincent, Joseph and Gina Isernia. Her sister Angelina Palma died earlier. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern. Entombment will follow in Ascension Cemetery. JANANGELO, PETER - Peter Janangelo a lifetime resident of Hawthorne passed away January 19, 2001. He was 83. Born in Fairlawn, NY March 6, 1917 to Dominic and Maria Picenti Janangelo, he worked for 40 years as a Foreman at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. A much decorated Veteran of WWII serving as a staff Sgt. in Co. B. of the 46th Armored Infantry Battalion participating in the D-Day invasion of France. His wife Yolanda passed away August 1992. 'He is survived by 2 sons Peter of Hawthorne and Joseph of Chicago. He is also survived by a sister Lucy of Queens and a brother John of Hartford CT. Reposing at the Maher Funeral Home, Pleasantville Thursday 4-9PM. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10:00AM Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne. Interment Gate of Heaven.

KMETZ, MARY ANN - Mary Ann Kmetz, of Upper Nyack, died on Saturday, January 20, 2001 at the age of 52. Born to James J. and Ann (Pagnozzi) Lynch on August 8, 1948 in Nyack where she attended schools and Rockland Community College. Ms. Kmetz worked for The Rockland Journal News as an advertising manager for over 14 years, retiring in 1995. She was also a volunteer for cancer mount program of the American Cancer Society. She is survived by her mother, Ann Lynch; one daughter, Tammy Lee Kmetz and one son, Jeff Kmetz, both formerly of Garnerville; a daughter -in -law, Antonette Mazzucco; a brother, Michael Lynch of West Nyack; a sister, Marsha Seebach of Salisbury Mills and a former husband, George Kmetz. KUHN, ALFRED G. - Alfred G. Kuhn of Peekskill, died January 21, 2001 at the age of 71. He was born on July 26, 1929 in Queens Village, NY, the son of George and Margaret Kuhn. Mr. Kuhn served in the United States Marine Corps. He participated in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart for his efforts in battle. On August 3, 1980 he married Antoinette Bernadette Pintasilgo at the Church of the Assumption, Peekskill, she survives. Stepdaughter Marcella Bernard, stepson Robert and Michael John Orlando, and stepdaughter, Lisa Mowbray, as well as seven grandchildren also survive Mr. Kuhn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 24, at 10 am, Church of the Assumption, Peekskill, followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery. MACK, ANNA - Anna Mack (nee Szwayka) a lifelong Yonkers resident died on Monday January 22, 2001 at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry. She was 83 years old. She was born on July 29, 1917 to Dmytro and Christina Szwayka in Yonkers where she was raised and educated. Mrs. Mack was an executive secretary for many years before her retirement in 1989. Mrs. Mack a member of St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church and a member of their Mother's Club. She was also a member of the Acry Club. She is survived by her son, Stephen Mack of Yonkers, NY, 2 grandsons, David of Waynart, PA. and Daniel of Yonkers and 2 great grandchildren, Desiraye and Dillon. NOLAN, DOROTHEA A. "GRANDMA" - Dorothea A. Nolan died Saturday, January 20, 2001 at Northern Manor Nursing Home, she was 57. She was born September 5, 1943 in Manhattan to Gino and Louisa Solari. Dorothea worked at Northern Manor as a Nurses Aide, then went to work at Jawonio and was currently working at Stony Point Day Care. Dorothea is survived by her husband of 20 years, Thomas, her children Nicanor "Nick" Medina of Garnerville, Michelle and her husband Omar Medina-Escribano of Garnerville. She is also survived by her mother Louisa Solari of Haverstraw, father Gino of Italy and her grandchildren Gina and Christina Escribano. PAGANO, GIUSEPPE - Giuseppe Pagano of Sleepy Hollow died January 21, 2001 at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. He was 91. Mr. Pagano was born March 19, 1909 in Roscigno Province Salerno Italy to Nunzio and Rosina Pagano. Mr. Pagano served in the Italian Army in World War II. He lived in Sleepy Hollow for the past 10 years. Before that, he lived in Yonkers. He is survived by 2 sons, Tino Pagano and his wife Esther, Nunzio Pagano and his wife Teresa, two daughters Rosetta and her husband Almerigo, Josephine and husband Nicolino and grandchildren Emilio, Peter, Tina, Madeleine, Lina and Rocco. PECUSHOK, LUBA (NEE SERNIAK) - Luba Pecushok (nee Serniak) of Yonkers, died on Sunday, Jan. 21. 2001. She was born on December 10, 1919 in Old Forge, PA. She moved to Yonkers in the late 30's. She married the late Michael Pecushok on October 20, 1945 in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Yonkers. She worked for many years for the Jacobson Pharmacy. She was a parishioner of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church. Devoted mother of Karen and Michele Pecushok. Predeceased by brother Harry Serniak. Reposing at the Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. A Thursday viewing will be held at the Kearney Funeral Home in Old Forge, PA. POPOLIZIO, GEORGE J. - George J. Popolizio age 84, also known as George Ross the Magician and Clown died on January 19, 2001. George was born August 10, 1916 in New Haven, CT. In 1946 he married Ruth G. Olynn who also performed with George through the years. George was president of the Million Dollar Harmonica Club. In his earlier days he worked in show business where he was a theatrical agent as well as a Ring Master for the circus. In his later years he was a magician and clown for children's birthday parties. George is survived by two brothers, Gaetano and John Popolizio, two sisters, Vera Giaimo and Olga Klien as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Ruth who died in 1990. Visiting will be at Adams-Cordovano Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9 to 11AM.The Funeral Service will be at 11:00AM at the Funeral Home. SCHWARTZ, DR. NATHANIEL - Dr. Nathaniel Schwartz, 83 years old, died peacefully on January 20, 2001 after a long and courageous fight with Parkinson's Disease. Nat was a respected dentist who was deeply loved by his family, friends and patients. SCOTT, HARVEY E. - Harvey E. Scott, 82, of Bradenton, FL, died January 19, 2001 at IHS of Bradenton. Mr. Scott was born in Orangeburg, NY on December 19, 1918. He resided in Albany, GA until 1986 when he relocated to Manatee Co. He was a retired Machinist. Mr. Scott was a member of Saints Peter and Paul The Apostles Catholic Church in Bradenton, FL. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received The Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Scott of Bradenton, FL, 2 daughters, Donna S. Spagnola of Bradenton, FL; Debra S. STINSON, VIRGINIA M. - Virginia M. Stinson, a resident of Verplanck for the past 40 years, died at her residence on January 21, 2001. She was born in Peekskill to John Mastrangelo and Mary Costello Mastrangelo. On October 17, 1948, she married Edward Stinson in Peekskill. She was a talented seamstress who once taught sewing at Singer Sewing in Peekskill. She also worked for the NYS Employment office. She was a member of the Peekskill Garden Club, The Woman's Club of Peekskill, and a Parishioner of St. Patrick's Church in Verplanck. She is survived by her husband Edward Stinson of Verplanck, her daughter Patrice A. Stinson of Summerduck, VA, her son Francis E. Stinson of Westhills, CA, also her brothers John Mastran of Moorestown, NJ and Col. Joseph Mastran of Alexandria, VA. Also many nieces and nephews. ACCATTATO, CARLO S. - Carlo S. Accattato of West Haverstraw, NY, died suddenly Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at Good Samaritan Hospital; he was 72. Carlo was born May 4, 1928 in New York City to George and Josephine Accattato. He served in the US Army as a Sergeant in the Korean War. Upon returning from the war, he married Mary Hoffmann on May 19, 1956 at St. Joan of Arc in the Bronx. Carlo worked at MABSTOA Transit in Manhattan until his retirement and then worked for Meals-on-Wheels of Rockland County. Carlo and his wife were active members of St. Gregory Barbarigo Church. Carlo is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary, his children and their spouses Carlo L. (Zoraida) of West Haverstraw, Michael (Maria) of Wilmington, NC, Anthony (Patricia) also Wilmington, NC and Regina (Nicolo) DiCara of Haverstraw, 15 grandchildren. BOWE, VICKI N. - Vicki N. Bowe of Suffern, NY passed away on February 5, 2001 at the age of 44 years. Vicki was born on May 22, 1956 in Suffern to Phillip and Joan E. (Barr) Nappo and has been a life long resident. Vicki was a customer service representative with Orange & Rockland Utilities and was active in community affairs. She was co-founder of Volunteer Hose Co. # 1 Ladies Auxiliary where she held the positions of Vice President and Treasurer. Vicki was secretary of the Suffern Touchdown Club and a guild member of St. Pius X at Tagaste Monastery. Survivors include two beloved sons, Thomas and Matthew; her parents Phillip and Joan Nappo; one brother Phillip Jr. and wife Georgi; two nephews Phil III and Kevin and a longtime companion Rob Carlson. There are many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Vicki will be deeply missed by all. Vicki also volunteered at the Ramapo Ecumenical Ministries Soup Kitchen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 am at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Suffern. Burial will follow at the Cemetery of the Ascension in Airmont. CHASE, JOHN M. - John M. Chase in Rhinebeck, NY, formerly of Yonkers, died on Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at age 79. Born on Jan. 28, 1922 to John and Louise (Mason) in Yonkers where he was raised and educated. Mr. Chase was the owner of Johnny‘s Transmissions in Yonkers for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. On May 13, 1978, he married Anne (Kenny) Whalen in Yonkers. She survives living in Rhinebeck. John was a World War II Army Vet, seeing action in Italy and North Africa. He served as an Aircraft Mechanic and was involved with the 99th Pursuit Squad. Mr. Chase is survived by his brother Reginald (Leon) of Bermuda, five sisters, Marguerite Johnson of Cleveland; Marie Jones of Cleveland; Frances Barnes of Beverly Hills; Grace Green of Florissant, Missouri; and Susie Thomas of Lucamcari, New Mexico. He is also survived by 8 stepchildren: Richard Whalen of NYC; Michael Whalen of Brooklyn; Thomas Whalen of Ossining; Marianne Whalen of Yonkers; Frances Whalen of Bedford Hills; Diane Umar of Yonkers; Jeannine Rodrigues of Yonkers; and Ellen Flanagan of Vero Beach, FL. Mr. Chase was predeceased by his brother Stewart Chase and a stepson Lawrence Whalen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 pm. Dearest husband of Margaret (nee Deegan); Dear father of Donald, Jr., (Terri), Michael (Larraine), Kevin (Ericka), Robert (Chung), Timothy and the late Thomas; Dearest grandfather to Sean, Ian, and Donald Francis III; Best Friend and Brother to Mary (John) Schilling and John (Eileen) Counihan; son-in-law to Winifred Deegan; & brother-in-law to James (Kay) Deegan and David (Dorothy) Deegan. EDSALL, MARY - Mary Edsall (Paddock) of Sturgis, MI, formerly of Pearl River and Spring Valley New York died January 31, 2001. She was 91. Mrs. Edsall was married November 15, 1930, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Homer Edsall, who died October 21, 1997, her brother in law Robert and sisters in law Ida and Marie. In Spring Valley she was a member of the St. John Russian Orthodox Church where she sang in the Choir for over 50 years. She was a member of the Pearl River Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed playing cards, bowling, dancing and socializing with friends and family. Surviving is a son John and daughter in law Judith of Marshall, Michigan, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, sister in law Evelyn and Eleanor and brothers in law Harold and Kenneth. A Memorial Service for the immediate family was held in Sturgis. Visiting will be held Friday February 9th, from 3-5 and 7-9PM at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John on Saturday February 10th at 9am. Interment will follow at The George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to a church or charity of the donor‘s choice.
