GOODRICH, GLADYS - Gladys Goodrich, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on April 8, 2001 at Sound Shore Medical Center. She was 80. Ms. Goodrich was born on April 24, 1920 in Camden, NJ to the late Chester and Dora (White) Goodrich. She worked as a Jewelry Maker for Accesso-Craft. Ms. Goodrich is survived by three nephews, James Abel and Todd Abel, both of New Rochelle, and Eaton Abel of Mahopac, and two nieces, Deborah Bukvosky of New Jersey and Dawn Clarizio of Mahopac. Visiting will be Tuesday 5-9 pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

GUILIANO, ANTHONY J. - Anthony J. Guiliano of Yonkers died on Friday, April 6, 2001 at age 84. Born on August 31, 1916 to Joseph and Domenica (Marganella) Giuliano in Pescara Province of Corvara, Italy, which he left at age two to come to Yonkers where he was raised and educated, graduating from Yonkers High School. Mr. Guiliano worked as a track foreman for the New York Central Railroad for over 41 years, retiring in 1983. On May 9, 1943 he married Rose Manuli in Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers; she survives living in Yonkers, and they both are still parishioners of Sacred Heart Church. Besides his wife, Rose, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Michael (Dorothy) Fuccella of Yonkers and his granddaughter, Michelle; his two sisters, Gilda Grimaldi of Yonkers and Mrs. Emil (Mary Ann) Patrick of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews. Mr. Guiliano was predeceased by his two brothers, Joseph Giuliano and James Giuliano who was killed in action during World War II. HILL, SADIE M. - Sadie M. Hill, a resident of New York City for 26 years, on April 7, 2001. Born August 8, 1938 to Roosevelt and Mary Williams. A resident of New Rochelle for many years and a graduate of New Rochelle High. Survivors are, her devoted companion, Stanley Harris, of New York City, 4 daughters, Montrose Hill, Oneonta, NY, Norma and Lolita Hill both of New York City, and Franchone Hill, Butner, NC, 3 brothers, Fradzell, Wydell and Melvin Williams, 4 sisters, Evelyn Chavis, Hazel Murray, Mariann Pearson and Delilah Rashad, 9 grandchildren, 1 great grand. JACOBSEN, GLADYS - Gladys Jacobsen, 88 of West Hartford, CT, formerly of Scarsdale, NY, died April 8, 2001. She was born October 8, 1912 in Norway to Kristen and Martine Christensen. Gladys was predeceased by her Husband Alfred in August 1998 and Son Andre G. in 1971. Mrs. Jacobsen was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. Gladys is survived by three sons, Martin of Enfield, CT, Alfred, Jr. of Thornwood, NY and Norman of Hartfort, CT, one daughter Linda Barile of Mays Landings, NJ, ten Grandchildren and twelve Great Grandchildren. KELLY, JOSEPH J. - Joseph J. Kelly of Bronxville, on April 8, 2001. Husband of Elizabeth (Lil), Father of Kevin and Joann, Grandfather of Erin Elizabeth Molloy, brother of Anne Craven. Mr. Kelly was a Police Officer for the Eastchester Police Department. He retired in 1981 having served for 28 years. He was the former President of the Eastchester P.B.A. Mr. Kelly was a Former Commissioner of the Eastchester Fire Department, having served two five-year terms. Mr. Kelly was born May 1, 1916 in Tullamore, Offaly, Ireland to John and Margaret Kelly. He was educated in Tuckahoe School System, graduating from Tuckahoe High School. On April 7, 1950 he married Elizabeth Leonard at the Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe. Mr. Kelly served in the US Army during World War II, between 1940-1946. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart while serving with the 31st Infantry Division before being honorably discharged after the War. He was a member of the Leonard Morange American Legion Post of Bronxville, and the VFW DiRenzo Post Eastchester. Calling hours at the Fred H. LAIDMAN, GLORIA F. - Gloria F. Laidman, a 52 year resident of Thornwood, NY died April 9, 2001 at her home. She was 83. She was born July 23, 1917 in Yonkers to Elsie and Charles Fitzpatrick. She attended Roosevelt High School where she was also a teacher. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA and her Masters of Science from New York University. On July 1, 1941 she married James Snowdon Laidman. Mrs. Laidman was an agent for the Cornell University Cooperative Extension Agent for Westchester County. She retired in 1981. She was active in the Thornwood Girl Scouts, the PTA, the Women‘s Club and the Pleasantville Garden Club. Mrs. Laidman is survived by her children Geoffrey (Hettie) Laidman of Waynesboro, VA, Janis (Gregory) Vogt of Fairport, NY and Patrick (Terri) Laidman of Thornwood, her brother Charles W. Fitzpatrick of Ridgefield, WA, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her husband passed away in 1964. Arrangements are handled by Beecher Funeral Home, Inc., Pleasantville, NY. LEIB, FREDERICK L. - Frederick L. Leib, a resident of Crugers, died Saturday at Tree Top Nursing Home. He was 87. Mr. Leib was a retired Security Officer for Pepsico, in Purchase. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II. Born in the Bronx on Sept. 16, 1913, he is survived by his wife, Julia Stecker Leib, of Crugers, a son Steven, of Barberton, OH, a daughter Lorraine Terlecki, of Yorktown Hgts., a sister Ethel Fox, of Largo, FL, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. MCDERMOTT, BRENDAN - Brendan McDermott a New City resident died Monday, April 9, 2001 at Nyack Hospital. Born June 17, 1932 in Durrow, Co. Offaly, Ireland to Patrick and Mary Piogeon McDermott. A carpenter for Local 608, Mr. McDermott was a member of the Offaly Hurling Team and also a member of the Celtic Golf Club. PERROTTA, CHRISTI NE - Christine Perrotta of Suffern, NY died Sunday April 9, 2001 at home at the age of 82 years old. Christine was a volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital, a member of the senior citizens club in Montibello and the Heart Guild in Suffern. TIRELLI, LOUIS D. - Louis D. Tirelli, a longtime Croton resident, died Sunday at Phelps Memorial Hospital. He was 83. He was a retired Foreman for the NY Central System, and its successor railroads. Mr. Tirelli was born in the Bronx on Nov. 30, 1917 to Domenico and Nicolina Pannella Tirelli. He served in the US Army during World War II, being a proud member of the 63rd Infantry Division. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star during his service. He married Tillie Rofi at Our Lady of Pity Church on July 14, 1946. She survives and lives in Croton. A parishioner at Holy Name of Mary Church, Mr. Tirelli belonged to the Croton Sr. Citizens, and the Chemical Engine Co., where he served as Treasurer. Besides his wife he is survived by a son Louis, of Wilton, NY, 2 daughters, Linda Herrmann, of Ossining, and Janice Beck, of Clark Summit, PA; a sister Angelina Schepis, of Long Island, and 7 grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Dan and Albert, and a sister, Adeline Albero. The Funeral Mass is Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church. Friends may call at EDWARD F. TUOHY, MARTIN J. - Martin J. Tuohy of Stuart, FL, a 33 year resident of Mamaroneck died on April 8, 2001 at age 64. He was born September 15, 1936 in the Bronx to Martin and Mary Staunton Tuohy. Martin was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes and Iona College and served in the US Navy. He was a retired NYC Firefighter and also retired from NY Sheet Metal Local 28. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara; her son Michael and wife Margaret Tuohy of Mamaroneck, son Thomas Tuohy of San Francisco; daughter Patricia and husband Anthony DeStefano of Oakhurst, NJ, daughter Elizabeth and husband Matthew Groo of Hoboken, NJ; four grandchildren, Aidan and Brendan Tuohy, Anthony and Matthew DeStefano and sister Evelyn Sullivan of Plainview, NY. VETRANO, MADELINE BYRNES - Madeline Byrnes Vetrano of Tarrytown died on April 8, 2001 at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry; she was 79. Mrs. Vetrano worked at John Charles Ltd. in Tarrytown for 30 years. She was born November 15, 1921 in Tarrytown to Andrew and Gertrude Higle Byrnes. Mrs. Vetrano was a lifelong resident of Tarrytown. Locally, she was an active parishioner of the Church of the Transfiguration. Mrs. Vetrano will be lovingly remembered for her deep faith in God and her devotion to her family. She is survived by three daughters, Sr. Patricia Vetrano, R.S.M., a Sister of Mercy, Bobbi Wittenberg of Ardsley and Joan Malone of Tarrytown. Loving sons-in-law, Stephan Wittenberg and Daniel J. WANDER, DONALD PAUL - Donald Paul Wander, of Spring Valley, NY on April 9, 2001. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association #351 of NJ MANUEL and member of the American Legion Post 1682 in New City NY. He was also a member of the Tin Can Sailors. He was Executive Director of the Rockland County Bowling Association and member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a retired Watch Engineer for Bell Atlantic in Suffern, NY. ADAMOVIC, GENEVIEVE ANN - Genevieve Ann Adamovic a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow, died on April 8, 2001 at home. She was 59. Miss Adamovic was born in Tarrytown on July 23, 1941 to Paul and Genevieve Kaleta Adamovic. She graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School in 1959. She returned to school later on and recently graduated from Westchester Community College. She had been a secretary for various businesses in the area over the years. Genevieve is survived by her mother Genevieve of Sleepy Hollow, her brother, Peter and his wife Mary of Irvington, and her nephew Paul of Irvington. BROWN, KENNETH H. - Kenneth H. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Brown of Orlando Avenue, Ardsley, NY, passed away on March 14, 2001 in Jacksonville, FL. He was 93. He graduated from Ardsley High School and Savage College and New York University. He was the physical education instructor and coach at Ardsley High School until 1953 when he was appointed principal of the Concord Elementary School. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Golder of Elmsford, Miss Laura Brown of Ardsley, NY, Mrs. John Zotz of Sarasota, FL and one brother, Douglas, of Springfield, IL. Private interment will be held at St. Augustine beside his late wife, Marion Brown.

BURGER, ELEANOR (GENOVESI) - Eleanor Burger 72, of Katonah, NY entered Heaven on Friday, April 6th after a long illness with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Bedford, NY on November 21, 1928 to Amato and Maria Genovesi. Eleanor worked at the Reader‘s Digest before retiring to raise her children and was a life long resident of Bedford and Katonah. On April 23, 1955 she married John G. Burger at St. Patrick‘s Church, Bedford, N.Y. She is survived by her husband and two daughters Teri McDonough of North Salem and Mary Sue Welch of Ridgefield, CT. Loving son-in-laws Ken McDonough and Jack Welch. Beloved grandchildren Ryan and Colin McDonough and Shannon and Molly Welch. She also leaves behind loving brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-niece. She will be remembered for her giving heart, her love of cooking and her endless love and devotion to her grandchildren. She will always be known as "Mama". DANIELLO, JAMES - James Daniello of Yonkers died on April 7, 2001. He was 86 years old. James was born on December 23, 1914 in Mt Vernon to Anthony and Carmella DePaolo Daniello. Mr. Daniello married the former Jennie Gotto who predeceased him. Early in his life he worked with the family business, Daniello Produce on 4th Avenue in Mt. Vernon. James later became a district manager for Standard Wine and Liquor Corp. in Queens until his retirement. His family said Mr. Daniello was an avid golfer and he was devoted to his church. Beloved father of James of Yonkers and Janet Nold of Irvington. Dear brother of Albert of Boca Raton, FL, Josephine Daniello of New Rochelle and the late Andrew and Joseph. DEVANY, FRANCES - Frances Devany (nee Kennedy) of Yonkers died on Sunday, April 8, 2001 at age 98. Born on October 10, 1902 to Lawrence and Margaret Kennedy in Yonkers where she was raised. Mrs. Devany worked as a cook for Mary the Queen Convent until her retirement. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel C. Devany. Devoted mother of Daniel C. and the late Barbara Devany. DORRIEN, ROSE - Rose Dorrien of New City, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2001. Rose was born in New York City on August 14, 1915 to James and Bridget McEvoy Connelly. Rose was a New City Resident for 23 years and prior she lived in New York City. Rose was a resident of Friedwald House and led a very active social life both with the staff and residents, and will be greatly missed. She was also a very active member of R.S.V.P. of Ramapo where she touched the lives of many children. Rose was a Mets Fan and enjoyed watching sports and was also an avid reader. Rose is survived by her children, Richard and his wife, Linda of New City, Ann Amantes of Tobyhanna, PA, one brother, Peter Connelly of Finksburg, MD, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. FREUND, STACEY ANNE - Stacey Anne Freund, a resident of White Plains, died as a result of a homicide in the City of New York at the age of 35. Stacey is a graduate of Harrison High School. Stacey‘s husband, Enrique Morrero, her son, Joseph Morrero, her parents, George and Sandra (Godin) Freund, and her sisters, Andre D. Freund of White Plains and Dianne R. Jakubek of Virginia Beach, VA survive her. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 12, 8:00 pm at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home.
