CARBONE, JOSEPHINE - Josephine Carbone of Yonkers, formerly of Mount Vernon, died on October 15, 2001. She was 88. Josephine was born in Italy on August 3, 1913 to Joseph and Marguerite Rossi. She was employed by Gimbel's in Cross County for ten years, retiring in 1978. Josephine married Nicholas P. Carbone on October 29, 1939 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He died on November 22, 1983. She is survived by her sons, Joseph and wife, Joanne of Garrison, Pat and his wife, Carol of Larchmont and daughter, Susan Carbone. She also leaves behind three brothers, Anthony, Harry and James Rossi and her sister, Louise Pepe. One brother, Dominick died earlier. She is survived by her grandchildren, Donna Cooper and husband, Richard, Joseph Carbone, Jr., Stephen Carbone and Lisa Carbone, as well as great-granddaughters, Jenna and Courtney Cooper. Friends may visit Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 10 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. CARTISANO, MARY CARTISANO - Mary, 81, and Louis Cartisano, 77, of Plantation, FL, died suddenly due to injuries from a car accident. Mary, originally of Mechanicville, NY was a manager at the Empire Brush Company in Port Chester, NY. Lou was a World War II veteran who fought in the Pacific. He owned and operated the Port Chester Auto Parts Store before moving to Florida. Together, they truly found special happiness. Their marriage - and their love for family and friends was an inspiration to all who knew them. Mary and Lou are survived by Mary's nieces Sandra Williams of New Port Richey, FL, Terry Jones of Mechanicville, NY and their children. As well as Lou's children Janet Keefe of Dallas, TX, Skip Rameor of Greenwich, CT, Jerry Lee LeBlanc and Judy Cartisano both of Dayton, OH, Toni Cartisano of Branford, CT. His brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Shirley Cartisano of Monroe, CT, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many Special Friends. COUGHLIN, JOHN G. - of Pomona, N.Y, died tragically & heroically as a result of the World Trade Center Tragedy. John was born on Nov.17,1957 in Englewood, N.J. to Vincent & Mary Coughlin. John married Patricia Looby on May 9, 1981. John served in the U.S Marines from Oct 1976-Oct 1979. John was a member of the Emergency Service unit of the New York City Police Dept., serving as a Sgt. on Truck 4. John was a member of the Rockland Co. Shields, the Rockland Co. Marine Corps. League and the David B. Roche Vol. Fire Dept. John was very active and involved with the Toys for Tots Drive's with the Marines. He is predeceased by his father and a brother Daniel. DAMBROFF, CAROL - Carol Dambroff, of Greenwich, CT, formerly a resident of Croton, Dobbs Ferry and Scarsdale, died on October 10, 2001 at the Greenwich Woods Health Care Center, Greenwich, CT. She was 87. She was born in Manhattan on May 10, 1914 to to Rebecca and Joseph Bandes. She was married to Nathan Dambroff on June 13, 1937 and was his loving wife until he predeceased her on March 7, 1991. She worked as a stage manager at Radio City Music Hall and on Broadway before devoting herself to her family. She is survived by two loving children David Dambroff of Dobbs Ferry and Susan Dambroff of San Francisco along with three loving grandchildren Rebecca and Daniel Dambroff and Natalie Strassheim, all of whom will deeply miss her love, generosity, caring, sharing, spontaneity, entertaining manner and infectious smile. DARRETTA, ELIZABETH - 77, of Nokomis, Florida, died October 11, 2001. She was born in White Plains, and moved to Nokomis in 1984 from Armonk. She had been a Business Office Manager with New York Telephone until her retirement in 1979. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Robert J. Darretta; a son, Micheal Spears of Monroe, N.C; a sister, Charlotte Lombardo, of Thornwood, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Gourlay of Astoria, N.Y. DIXON, EDWIN "ALLEN" - 91, of Sloatsburg, N.Y. Formerly of Mahwah, N.J. On October 17,2001. Beloved husband of the late Elsie R. (Sisco) Dixon (1984). Loving father of the late son Edwin A. State Firemen's Ass'n and the N.J State First Aid Council. He joined the Ambulance Corps in 1939, and in 1949 became a life member and was state exempt. GREENE, ARTHUR J. - Arthur "Art" Greene passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on October 17, 2001. He was born in Chelsea, MA on August 23, 1926 to Arthur and Kathryn Greene. He was a New City resident for 44 years. Arthur served in the United States Navy as a Pharmacist's Mate during World War II. After graduating from Boston College in 1950, Arthur joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent; he retired in 1980. Arthur is survived by his loving wife of nearly fifty years, Catherine "Kitty" Greene of Malden, MA; his children, Stephen of Bridgewater, CT, Mary of New City, NY, John of Tulsa, OK, Katie of Durham, NC, Carol of Seattle, WA, Janice of Montville, NJ , his son and daughter in-laws, his nine grandchildren John, Michael, Stephen, Max, Annie, Connor, Chelsea, Sean and Tucker. He is also survived by his brothers Robert and Richard, sisters Joan, Carol and Ann, as well as many nieces and nephews. JAMES, WARREN G. - Warren G. James of Tuxedo, NY died Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 78. Mr. James was born in Sloatsburg, NY on April 11, 1923 to Warren and Edna James. He attended and was graduated from Suffern High School. He served in the US Army during WWII. James married Annamae Sampson in 1965 in Cornwall, NY. He worked for First Federal Savings and Loan now known as Provident Bank for over 39 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1643 in Sloatsburg and a member of the United Methodist Church in Sloatsburg. Mr. James is survived by his devoted wife Annamae of Tuxedo, NY, his loving daughter Leslie Roberts of Highland Mills, NY his sister Mrs. Irving (Dolores) Livingston from Gloversville and 3 nieces. KING, RICHARD P. "RICH" - Richard P. "Rich" King, 69, died of cancer on October 15, 2001 at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY. A fun-loving, kind hearted wise man who was greatly loved in life and will be terribly missed in death. Beloved husband of Joan Chamberlain King. Loving father of Rick King and wife Audrey of Connecticut, Laurie Johnson of Minnesota, Karen Flegar and husband Paul of Putnam County and Scott Chamberlain of Westchester. KONZEN, JOHN - John Konzen of Peekskill died October 17, 2001. He was 70. He worked as a supervisor for the U.S. Post Office in Mt. Vernon, NY for 25 years before retiring . He then worked for the Lakeland School District as a custodian for 13 years. He was born on October 25, 1930 in NYC to Richard and Josephine Kirchmeyer Konzen. He served in the US Army in World War II era. On January 28, 1966 he married Edith Gorsline in NYC. He is survived by his wife Edith Konzen of Peekskill, one daughter Linda Forness, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, five sons Steve and Robert of NYC, John of Peekskill, Edward of Beacon, NY, Paul of Wallkill, NY; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. KURILECZ, ANNA - Anna Kurilecz, a lifelong Yonkers resident, died on Tuesday October 16th in St. John's Riverside Hospital. Anna was born on June 18, 1912. She graduated from Commerce High School in Yonkers and started working as a clerk at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City . During her forty seven years as a commuter, she became the head of a team of clerks. She substituted in a position usually held by a male employee. Anna had keen interest in gardening and was very knowledgeable about all aspects of it. She also served for several years in the Professional Women's Club of Yonkers. In the last years of her life, she was a faithful worker in the Sewing Circle of Christ the King Church. She leaves behind a sister Margaret of Yonkers, a brother Joseph, her sister in law Gloria of Ossining and a nephew ( her godson) Joseph Michael and his wife Debra of Weymouth, MA. LENIHAN, JOSEPHINE - Josephine Lenihan, a Scarsdale resident for 54 years died October 15, 2001. She was 88. She was born January 30, 1913 to James and Honora Cody. Josephine married Joseph V. Lenihan at Our Lady of Refuge Church in the Bronx on December 28, 1947. He died in 1966. She is survived by her sister, Mary Reilly of MA. Also surviving are her nephews, Raymond, Christopher and Patrick Walsh, Rev. Thomas Reilly and her niece, Claire Davies. MALONE, JOAN A. - Joan A. Malone of New City, NY died on October 14, 2001 in Nyack Hospital. She was born in Woodhaven, Queens on September 24, 1932 to William & Rose Brennan Kearney. Joan has been a New City resident for 30 years, prior Flushing, NY. She married Thomas Malone on October 14, 1961 in St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Woodhaven, Queens. She was a receptionist for Dr. Castro in New City, NY from 1982-1998 when the practice merged with the Langerman Eye Institute, Orangeburg. Joan retired in 1999. Joan was a member of St. Augustine's Church, New City and she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Joan was an avid gardener. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1995. METCALFE, JOHN H. - John H. Metcalfe, of Mamaroneck. died October 16, 2001 at age 80. Born July 4, 1921 in Erie, PA to Robert and Gertrude (Cannon) Metcalfe. He served in the Navy during WWII as lieutenant j.g. seeing action in both Normandy and Okinawa. From 1946 to the present John's career in media took him from Columbia Pictures in Hollywood to the Daily News in New York. He is survived by his wife, Ann Breen-Metcalfe, children, Alan Richard Metcalfe and Marianne Ebsworth and 6 grandchildren. NITOPI, CARMEN - Carmen Nitopi, 72 of Tappan, NY died on October 15, 2001. Beloved husband for 51 years to Edna nee Masiello. Devoted father of William and daughter in law Wei of Tappan, Daniel and daughter in law Carol of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ and Andrea Klemm of Tappan, NY. Loving grandfather of Jessica Klemm, Danielle and Stephanie Nitopi. Also survived by his loving sister Vera Franchino, his stepmother Rose Nitopi, two uncles, an aunt and numerous nieces and nephews. QUAGLIERI, RAFFAELE "RALPH" - Raffaele "Ralph" Quaglieri, 84, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, formerly of Yonkers, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York. Mr. Quaglieri was born in the Bronx, New York on May 4, 1917, the son of Pasequale and Maria Quaglieri. He was a World War II Air Force veteran, serving as a Morse code radio operator and mechanic, and taught Morse code to the guerrillas in Budapest. He also flew several missions as an AAF Aerial Gunnery. He received several medals for distinguished service. Mr. Quaglieri was a restaurateur, serving as captain of room service at the Americana Hotel in New York, general manager of the Factoria Restaurant in New York, and held managerial positions at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York and the Diplomat in Florida. He owned his own restaurant, Raffaele's, in Chester Heights. However, he was best known in Westchester County as maître-d' of several restaurants, including Nick Pastors in White Plains, Manzi's Restaurant in Hastings-on-Hudson, Il Giardino's and Ciao's in Eastchester. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Vaszko) Quaglieri, whom he married December 16, 1978. He is survived by two sisters, Helen O'Keefe and Theresa Quaglieri of Eastchester, New York, two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Jean Iannucci of Yorktown Heights, Kevin and Catherine Iannucci of Nutley, New Jersey, step-son, Christopher Iannucci of Yonkers, step-daughter, Lisa (Iannucci) Brinkley of Poughkeepsie; six grandchildren, Nicole, Travis and Samantha Brinkley, Erica and Rebecca Iannucci and Steven Casucci; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Theresa, a brother, Anthony, sisters, Connie, Amelia and Sue. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main Street in Eastchester, New York. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist, 670 Yonkers Avenue in Yonkers. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.
