KNOX, PATRICIA R. - 71, of Warwick, previously of the Bronx, NY, died Thursday, February 7, 2002 at home. Before moving to Warwick three years ago, she lived in Beacon, NY. She was the wife of the late Robert I. Knox who died in 1994. She is survived by one son, Robert Knox of Yonkers; four daughters, Barbara McGay of Yonkers, Jeanne Linkens of Warwick, Margaret Stern of Marlboro, NJ and Patricia Ann Nelson of Pine Bush, one sister, Margaret Roth of Jupiter, FL, nine and one half grandchildren. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday, February 8, 2002 at the Lazear-Smith and Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. LOCKWOOD, CATHERINE T. - Catherine T. Lockwood, a former resident of Yorktown, died Wednesday at Sky View Health Care Center. She was 86. She was born in the Bronx on September 26, 1915, the daughter of William G. and Dorothy Wind Marr, and was raised in No. Tarrytown. Mrs. Lockwood graduated from New Paltz State Teaching College and began her career in Shrub Oak, and then the Croton School District, where she retired in 1971. She married Harold T. Lockwood at Holy Name of Mary Church on November 11, 1942. The couple moved to Boca Raton, FL, then to West Palm Beach, and finally to Yorktown in 1993. Mr. Lockwood died in 1993. She belonged to the NYS Teacher's Association. Survivors include 3 sons; Harold, Jr., of Croton, William, of Yorktown, and Robert, of Cortlandt Manor; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by 1 brother, William G. Marr, Jr. The Funeral Mass is Saturday at 10 AM at St. Christopher's Church. Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 at EDWARD F. MAZZA, JOSEPHINE M. - Josephine M. Mazza, age 77, of Danbury, CT, formerly of Ossining, died on Tuesday, February 5 at the Danbury Hospital. Mrs. Mazza was born February 28, 1924 in Pelham, NY, a daughter of the late Michael and Loretta (DeFeo) Pisacreta. She was educated in Mount Vernon, NY public schools, and was a longtime resident of Ossining, NY, where she was a member of the Golden Agers Senior Citizens Club. Mrs. Mazza had relocated to Danbury eight years ago, and most recently had resided at Laurelridge, of Ridgefield. While residing in Danbury, she was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Mrs. Mazza is survived by her daughter, Laura Marchisio of Danbury, CT, her son Albert J. Mazza of Croton, NY, her brother Michael Pisacreta, of Mt. Vernon, NY, four granddaughters, Dianna and Michelle Marchisio, Claudine Chamorro, and Alexandra Mazza, several nieces and nephews, and her former husband, Albert Mazza of Rhode Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 9 at Holy Name of Mary Church, Croton, NY, at 10 am. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. MILITE, CAROLE A. - Carole A. Milite, of White Plains. Died January 29, 2002. She was 60. Born November 15, 1941 in New Rochelle to Edward and Helen Goldstein. NAZARIO, DANIEL - Daniel Nazario of Yonkers died on Wednesday February 6, 2002 at age 84. Born on May 10, 1917 to Gregory and Antonio Nazario in Yonkers where he was raised and graduated from Saunders H.S. Mr. Nazario worked as an Electrician for the N.Y Railroad System for over 15 years. Retiring in 1985. He served his country during World War II with the 7th Army in Germany with General Patton. He was discharged as a Staff Sgt. Daniel is survived by his brother Frank Nazario and his two sisters Phyllis Frederico and Rose Nazario all of Yonkers. OLSZEWSKI, IDA (PONTERIO) - Ida Olszewski, devoted mother, homemaker, and family member, formerly of Port Chester, NY, died February 4, 2002 in San Jose, CA. Born in Carpanzano, in the province of Cosenza, Italy, on February 20, 1920. Daughter of Bruno and Giovina Ponterio (deceased). She moved to Port Chester in 1927 and was a 1938 graduate of Port Chester High School. married on October 7, 1945 to Louis Joseph Olszewski. Ida and Louis moved to San Jose, CA in 1999. She was predeceased by her brother John Ponterio and her sister Mary Ponterio Vallette. She is survived by her husband Louis of San Jose, CA and brother Bruno M. Ponterio of Rye Brook, NY. Devoted mother of Robert Olszewski of San Jose, CA and Lynn Dziekan of Austin, TX, grandson Todd and Scott, nephews, nieces, and many dear friends. Burial was on February 7, 2002 in San Jose, CA. RAFFA, STANLEY P. - Stanley P. Raffa died February 6, 2002. He was born in Dobbs Ferry to Clemente and Carmella DelGrande Raffa on July 11, 1929. After graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School, Stanley served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1952-1954. Stanley was a brick mason and with his brother-in-law owned Scogna and Raffa Construction in Dobbs Ferry for 35 years. He retired in 1991. On April 19, 1952 Stanley married Angela DiDonato at Sacred Heart Church in Dobbs Ferry. He was the Chief of the Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Fire Department from 1973 to 1975. During his tenure as Chief, he started the junior firefighters program. He saw the need to build the future of the fire department. Many of the active firemen today started in the junior program. Stanley was past president of the Embassy Club in Dobbs Ferry, which he helped build. Surviving besides his beloved wife, Angela, are two sons, Stanley and Gary both of Dobbs Ferry, one daughter Daryl Sudlow of Cortlandt Manor, four grandchildren Gary-John, Samantha, Derek, and Sean, one brother Charles of Dobbs Ferry, three sisters Clementine Scogna of Tarrytown, Mary Cox of Oregon and Frances Grande of Dobbs Ferry. RENNER, CATHERINE L. - age 85, of Patterson, NY died Wednesday, February 6, 2002 in Carmel, NY. Mrs. Renner was born November 9, 1916 in Bronx, NY to Francis and Camille Lyden. She had graduated from Brewster schools. Mrs. Renner married Earl B. Renner in Pawling, NY. Mrs. Renner died in 1986. Mrs. Renner was a matron at the Putnam County Sheriff Dept. for 13 years, retiring in 1980. She had lived in Patterson for most of her life and was a member of the Patterson Senior Citizens and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Renner is survived by three sons Francis Benjamin Renner of Norfolk, VA, Earl D. Renner of Brewster, NY, Donald Renner of Wappingers Falls, NY, and a daughter, Mary C. Butler of Carmel, NY. RICE, BRIAN H. - Brian H. Rice, 57, of Yonkers died on February 6, 2002. He was born on June 8, 1944 in Yonkers to Helen M. and John P. Rice who predeceased him. Brian was the loving brother of James E. Rice and his wife Ruth A. Rice of White Plains, NY, and Robert J. Rice and his wife Marie Rice of Montclair, NJ. He is also survived by his nephews Michael J., Neil B., and Sean Rice and nieces Kristen Rice Lavan and Tara Rice. After graduating from Xavier High School and Manhattan College he served a tour of duty with US Army Airborne at Ft. Bragg, NC. RODRIGUEZ, PHILIP NICHOLAS - Philip Nicholas Rodriguez of West Haverstraw died Monday, February 5, 2002, he was 17. Phillip was born October 8, 1984 in Nyack, NY, to Pamela Marie (Bicknell) and Robert Rodriguez. He is survived by his parents, brothers Matthew, Joseph Rodriguez, and David Alexander Bicknell, maternal grandparents William T. and Harriet M. Bicknell, paternal grandparents Abraham and Nelida Rodriguez, aunts, uncles, and cousins. My son was like a big teddy bear, full of life and love for others and had a big heart. He gave to anyone who was in need even of him. He had many hopes and dreams for his life and future. Most importantly he knew Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. SARANITA, ANTHONY ("TONY") - Anthony "Tony" Saranita of Suffern, NY, suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 5, 2002 at his home. He was 50 years old. Mr. Saranita was born on January 4, 1952 in NYC to Frank and Irene Saranita. He was the Manager of the Tallman Sunoco for the past ten years. He also worked for S. Rachels & Co. Newspaper Distributors in NYC. Tony was a member of the Ramapo Valley Ambulance Corps for the past 20 years and a member of the Newspaper and Mail Deliverers' Union. He married Grace Capriola on February 24, 1973 at St. Andrews Church in NYC. She survives him. He is also survived by his two brothers, Joseph Saranita of Rockaway, NJ and Frank Saranita, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV. Tony is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. SLATER, KATE (MCKINNEY) - Kate McKinney Slater, 78, died February 6 in Baden, PA after a long illness. Resident of Sleepy Hollow, NY from 1964 until 1998, when she returned to her Pittsburgh birthplace under the care of her daughter Hilary. survived by her devoted husband of 55 years Milton of Sleepy Hollow; daughters Nancy (Frank) Loorie of Ventnor, NJ; Nell Slater of Minneapolis and Hilary (Jeff) Mincenberg of Baden, PA. Graduate of The Ellis School in Pittsburgh, The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, NY and received a B.F.A in Drama from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1945. Preceded in death by parents William S. and Helen (Metcalf) McKinney and brother William of Pittsburgh. Stage and radio actress, stage director, puppeteer, loving wife and mother. She served as Senior Warden, vestry member and Sunday school teacher at Christ (Episcopal) Church in Tarrytown. She was a member of the founding Board of the Community Opportunity Center and was a dedicated volunteer for 30 years at Phelps Memorial Hospital. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Association. THOMAS, LORENZO JOSEPH - Lorenzo Joseph Thomas, a longtime School Administrator, died of cardiac arrest on Saturday, January 12, 2002, at INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax, Virginia. He was 80. A retired Assistant Principal from Mount Vernon High School, "Renny", as family and friends called him, was known in Westchester County for his service with the Youth Bureau of New Rochelle, the Disaster Relief Team of the American Red Cross, Con Edison Scholarship Committee, Omicron Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and for his work in track and field. An All-American from Morgan State (BS) and a graduate of New York University (MA), Lorenzo had the distinction of being the first from an all-black college invited to tryouts by an NFL team (Chicago Bears). A teacher and coach, he was elected to the Morgan State Hall of Fame, served in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II, and was Captain of the Military SOISSONS All-Star Football Team. Lorenzo was the first black named Chief Field Judge for Olympic Invitational Trace, a member of the Westchester Sports Hall of Fame and a Track Official in the XXIIIrd Olympiad. Thomas moved to Fairfax, Virginia in October, 1997, and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wilma; a son, Joel of Mamaroneck; a daughter, Lori Austin of Fairfax, and an adopted brother, Luther, of New Rochelle. TIETZ, VIOLET H. - Violet H. Tietz, a 13 year resident of Nanuet, NY died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on January 27, 2002. Mrs. Tietz was born October 11, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY. She will be remembered for her strength, determination, courage and her smile. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carol and Robert Viviani of Nanuet, daughter and son-in-law Penni and Donald Widmayer of Nanuet, son and daughter-in-law Theodore and Debra Tietz of Nanuet, son and daughter-in-law Laurence and Leslie Tietz, Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Theodore in 1997. ZURZOLO, VITO - Of Mamaroneck on February 7, 2002. He was 76. Vito was born in San Vito, Italy to Bruno and Brigida (nee Montesano) on December 1, 1925. He worked as a Greenskeeper for Hampshire Country Club and later as custodian for the Mamaroneck Library. He is the beloved husband of Carmela (nee Paonetti) and the cherished father of Julie Maida and Maria Croce. He is survived by four grandchildren as well as a brother Trentino of Italy. BARTRAM, CHARLES (SKIP) - 68, of Sunset Beach, NC, died Tuesday, February 5, 2002. Born in Danbury, CT on June 26, 1933, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Anna E. Bartram. He was a retired fireman with the Bedford, NY Fire Department having serving as Chief and was a US Army veteran. He also retired from Burke Heat, Hawthorne, NY. Skip was a member of the Fire Chief's Benevolent Plan of New York, the Calabash Elks Lodge and the Property Owners Board of Directors at Sea Trail Plantation, and was associated with the National Association of Oil Heat Service Managers and the Sea Trail Man's Golf Association, Sea Trail Men's Golf Association, Sea Trail Master Association and President of the Sea Trail Property Owner's Association. Surviving are his wife Joan DePalo Bartram of the home and his daughter, Deborah Bartram, South Salem, NY. BOYLE, ALLEN - Allen Boyle, formerly of Wappingers Falls, died on September 11, 2001 at The Pentagon. The son of the late Richard and Pauleen, nee Prudhome, Boyle. He was born in Yonkers, NY on October 3, 1970. He was raised in Wappingers Falls, NY and graduated from Ketchum High School and ITT, Arizona. He was employed by Radoom Electric and was installing the new security system at The Pentagon at the time of the attack. He is survived by his wife, Ronda; three sons: Dylan, 3; Allen, 2 and Nathan, 2 months; three sisters: Dorothy Hylwa and her husband Bryan of Maybrook, NY; Vickie Duffield and her husband Dave of Connecticut; Kathleen Boyle of Yonkers; three brothers: Gary Boyle and his wife Angie of Mahopac; Robert Hohn and his wife Sandra Lee of Schenectedy; and Paul Hohn and his wife Helene of Arizona. BURAKOWSKI, CARL P. - Carl P. Burakowski of Montebello, NY and a former Garnerville resident died Tuesday February 5, 2002 at the age of 72. Born in Suffern, NY. Carl was retired from Avon Products in Suffern and the Pearl River School District. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. CIAMARRA, CAMILLE - Of Yonkers, passed away February 5, 2002. She was 91 years old. Mrs. Ciamarra was the beloved wife of the late Nicola. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ciamarra, by her son Robert and his wife Lidia (nee Wislocki) Ciamarra; and by her cherished grandchildren, Robert Jr, Nicholas and Joseph. Wake to be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday February 7, 2002 and Friday, February 8, 2002 at the SINATRA MEMORIAL HOME, INC, 601 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers. Funeral Mass 9:30 am on Saturday February 9, 2002 at St. Ann's RC Church, Yonkers. Burial follows at Ferncliff Cemetery.

CIARDULLO, VINCENT F. - Vincent F. Ciardullo, Sr. "Jimmy" passed away on February 6, 2002. He was born in New Rochelle on March 12, 1929, the son of Santo and Rosina Ammarato Ciardullo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Vincent married Ida Arancio on August 19, 1951. Surviving him is his loving wife, Ida Ciardullo, daughters, Deborah Carilli and her husband, Carl, Carolyn Miceli and her husband, Gerald, a son, Vincent F. Ciardullo, Jr. and his wife, Theresa; grandchildren, Andrea, Carl, Jr., Matthew and Michael Carilli; Patrice and Jack Ciardullo, his brother, Fedele Ciardullo. He was predeceased by his sister, Louise Walker and his brother, Samuel Ciardullo. Visitation at George T. Davis Funeral Home, 14 LeCount Place, New Rochelle on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. DAWN, IDA MAY - formerly of Scarsdale and White Plains, on February 4, in her 87th year. Graveside burial at Montefiore Cemetery in Queens at 1:30 pm, Thursday, February 7. survived by her children Alice Rosemarie of Boston, MA, Carolyn of California, and Robert of Fayetteville, NC, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association of Eastern Massachusetts, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA.

DIVICO, LOUIS A. - Louis A. DiVico, 85, of Elmsford, died in Ft. Collins, CO on February 5, 2002. He was the son of Peter and Angelina DeNunzio DiVico. He worked at Sonotone Corp. as foreman and was a self-employed photographer, and owner of Creative Image Photography. On October 7, 1944 he married Theresa A. Marzolla in Tarrytown. During WWII he served in the US Army Air Corps. In Elmsford he was a member of the American-Italian Club and congregant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He loved golfing, swimming, playing the piano and photography. Survivors include his wife Theresa, two daughters Joanne, Gail, one brother Eugene and grandson Erik Williams. FAVROT, MARCIA - Of Garrison, died Sunday, February 3, 2002. Born June 30, 1947 in Houston, TX, she served on the boards of the Johanna A. Favrot Trust for Historic Preservation and the Favrot Fund. She supported the Natural Resources Defense Council, Open Space Institute, Constitution Marsh, Manitoga, the Garrison Arts Center, the Alice Curtis Desmond and Hamilton Fish Library, the Philipstown Depot Theater, Garrison Union Free School, and the Poughkeepsie Day School. Marcia is survived by her husband, Daniel Anderson; daughter, Annie Rose Anderson; siblings, Celestine Arndt, Romelia Favrot, Jeanette Favrot Peterson, and Laurence deKanter Favrot. Her life will be celebrated at St. Philips Church in the Highlands on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, Marcia's family requests that donations be sent to the Marcia Favrot Memorial Fund at Open Space Institute, 1350 Broadway, Suite 201, NYC, 10018. The funds will be used to restore a large gazebo and trail leading from Garrison's Landing to state park land.
