AMUSO, ANTHONY - Anthony Amuso, a lifetime Mt. Kisco resident and a retired carpenter died at the Northern Westchester Hospital on October 17, 2002 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Dorothy (DeSilva) Amuso. Devoted father of Rocco Amuso of East Amherst, NY. Loving grandfather of Amy and Steven. Fond brother of Ralph and Dominick Amuso, Carmella Magliochetti and Teresa Intrieri and the late Rocco Amuso, Frances Castaldo and Catherine Berte. Friends may call at the Oelker and Cox Funeral Home, 262 Main St. on Friday from 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Saturday at 11 am followed by interment at St. Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions to St. Francis of Assisi Church preferred.

BOWSKY, EMMA CATHERINE - Emma Catherine Bowsky, a long-term resident of Tarrytown, died Monday, October 14, 2002, at the Andrus Retirement Community in Hastings-on-Hudson. Mrs. Bowsky was born in Rhinebeck, NY on November 21, 1908, to Milton J. and Katherine (Heeb) Van Tassel. She graduated from Vassar Hospital School of Nursing in 1930 and became a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Bowsky practiced as a pediatric nurse at Babies' Medical Center Hospital in NYC. On July 28, 1938, Emma married Chandler Bowsky at her family home in Rhinebeck. The couple originally lived in Yonkers. Then, the Bowskys made their permanent home in Tarrytown, where they were active in their community. Mr. Bowsky died in 1993. Mrs. Bowsky enjoyed her gardens and was a founding member of the Tarrytown Garden Club an half-century ago. Her gardening skills were brought indoors as she tended to arrangements in patients' rooms for nearly 50 years as a volunteer at Phelps Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Bowsky was also a member of the Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns Circle Club. There will be a Graveside Service Saturday, October 19, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at Rhinebeck Cemetery in Rhinebeck. Officiating at the Service will be Pastor John Malfetti of the Third Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinebeck, where Mrs. Bowsky was baptized and confirmed. CALVEY, FRANCES M. - Frances M. Calvey of Tarrytown died on October 15, 2002 after a short illness. She was 76. Mrs. Calvey was born in Queens, NY on July 27, 1926 to John and Domenica Imbornoni Santangelo. On November 19, 1949, she married John H. Calvey in St. Joan of Arc Church in Jackson Heights, NY. She and her husband settled in Tarrytown more than 40 years ago. During her career as a legal secretary, she worked for Morrie Slifkin, Mario Giovanelli and, most recently, for Jeffrey Shumejda. She was a member of the Exchange Club and Transfiguration Women's Club. Mrs. Calvey is survived by her loving husband and best friend, John. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Santagelo and his wife Clorinda of Torrance, CA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Ponzio. Visitation will be at COFFEY FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, from 7-9 PM and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. CONROY, THOMAS J. - Thomas J. Conroy, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Wednesday, October 16th at the Montrose Veteran's Administration Hospital. He was 89 years old. He was born on December 8, 1912, to Thomas J. and Ellen Flynn Conroy in New York City. He was raised and educated in Mt. Vernon, graduating from Mt. Vernon High School. Mr. Conroy was a Manager of Gas Operations for Consolidated Edison in Eastview, NY for about 30 years, until his retirement in 1978. During WWII, he served in the US Army as a Lieutenant and a Shooting Instructor. He was stationed in the United States. Mr. Conroy was a member of the National Rifle Association and his hobbies included hunting and ice skating. On February 22, 1942, he married his first wife, Anne O'Lear at St. Paul The Apostle Church in Yonkers. She died in 1989. On January 16, 1990, he married his second wife, Grace Thomas, in Sacred Heart Church. She survives and lives in Yonkers. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his daughter, Kathleen Mead of Dallas, Texas. He was predeceased by a brother and two sisters: John, Mary and Helen Conway. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, October 19th, at 10:30 AM. DI GIACOMO, ANN T. - Ann T. DiGiacomo died October 16, 2002, at Westchester Co. Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Hastings-on-Hudson on July 14, 1920, to Nicholas and Sophia Tishuk Emerick. She had been married to the late Frank DiGiacomo, who predeceased her in 1994. She was a communicant of St. Augustine Church and a volunteer at the Sisters of the Sick Poor. Ann was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. Surviving are two daughters: Lorraine Rumsey of Poughquag, NY and Ann Slader of Mahopac, NY. Also surviving is a sister, Catherine Monteleone of Harriman, NY; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ann will be in repose at Leach & Thomas, Inc., 32 State Street, Ossining, NY, Friday, 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial, St. Augustine Church, Saturday, 11 AM. FERENTINI, IGINO - Igino Ferentini, 71, a Yonkers resident for 31 years, passed away on October 16, 2002. Beloved husband of Lina and the dear father of Joseph and Maria Pia. GALTO, MARCIA - Marcia Galto, a resident of Ossining, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002. Marcia was born in Croton on Hudson on May 12, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Dominick and Louise (Evans) Corea. She was 70. Marcia was a loving mother and grandmother who lived for her family. She also enjoyed flower gardening in her yard. Marcia is survived by her husband, Louis, her daughter Susan (Butch) Jones, her son Louis (Sharon) Jr., four sisters, Ginny Jahoda, Janet Williams, Jean Gamba, and Louise Zarillo, her grandchildren Stacey Jones and Nicholas Galto and many nieces and nephews. AMATO, ANNE P. - Anne P. Amato of Sleepy Hollow, died on Tuesday, December 10, 2002. She was 74. Mrs. Amato was born on June 12, 1928 to Blaze and Agatha Matuscin Ballas in Tarrytown. She graduated from North Tarrytown High School in 1936. She retired from Sleepy Hollow Bank where she was employed as a clerical worker for over 30 years. She was a member of Sleepy Hollow Seniors and a parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Church. She is survived by two sisters: Mary Middleton of Cortlandt Manor and Frances Murray of Sleepy Hollow as well as a brother, Frank Ballas, of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as a brother-in-law Sam Amato and a sister-in-law Irene Amato, both of whom reside in Sleepy Hollow. She was predeceased by her husband Morris Amato, a brother, Louis Ballas, and a sister Tracy Heenan. BISIGNANO, ANGELA A. - Angela A. Bisignano of Harrison, died on December 9, 2002 at the age of 71. Born on September 7, 1931 to Angelo and Ida (Fraioli) Notorgiacomo, Angela worked for many years as a switchboard operator for Neiman Marcus. In 1954, she marred William Bisignano at St. Vito's Church. In addition to her husband "Bill," she is survived by a son, William Bisignano, Jr. of Hopewell Junction, daughter Joyce Casailinova of Stormville, brother Daniel Notorgiacomo of Mamaroneck; sisters Gilda Varbaro and Ann Gianetti, both of Harrison and Lucy D'Antonio of Florida. BUCKLEY, DORAS SAVACOL - Doras Savacool Buckley died peacefully on December 11, 2002 in New City, after a long battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her husband William Buckley, son William, daughters Madeline, Ellen and grandchildren Billy, Matthew, Kara, Morgan, Konnor, Meg and one great-grandchild Ben. She loved them all. CARSON, DOROTHY C. - Dorothy C. Carson, 88, of Chatham, NY, formerly of Mt Vernon, died Thursday December 5th. Ms. Carson was born July 10, 1914 in Mount Vernon. With over 60 years of experience as a bookkeeper, she worked for Sid Harvey's and Petroleum Heat and Power, both of which were located in Mount Vernon, and later, for B&G Alarming Sounds in Pelham. Ms. Carson was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, now located in Bronxville; a member of its Choir and Director of the Children's Choir. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Boggus of Virginia Beach, VA; sister Evelyn Vazac of New Concord, NY; three grandchildren: Michael of Virginia Beach, VA, Robert of Staten Island, NY and Susan Constanza of Easton, PA. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.. CHAPARRO, ELIZABETH M. - Elizabeth M. Chaparro, a Buchanan resident, died Tuesday at Lawrence Hospital. She was 44. She was born in NYC on October 22, 1958, the daughter of Simon and Madeline Cummins Lovett. They reside in Yonkers. Elizabeth is also survived by her husband, Pastor Roberto Chaparro of Buchanan, and their children, R.J., Joseph, Bethany, Sarah, and Mary, also her grandmother, Madeline Cummins, a brother John Lovett, a sister Martha Cesaitis, seven nieces, and four nephews. Her Funeral Service is Friday at 10 am at the Peekskill Assembly of God, 245 Watch Hill Road, Cortlandt Manor, where the family will receive friends on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. ETIENNE, REYNOLD B. - Reynold B. Etienne of Monsey, NY, passed away on December 5, 2002. He was 71 years old. Born on November 23, 1931, Reynold was a 40 year Rockland County resident. He was employed by both the Clarkstown School District and Boces. He is survived by his faithful companion Claudette Calypso, two sons, six daughters, three sisters, two brothers, and 12 grandchildren. FENZEL, CATHERINE (CURTIN) - Catherine (Curtin) Fenzel, 52-year resident of Eastchester, died on December 11, 2002. A former university instructor, she taught in schools in the Bronx and Westchester. Mrs. Fenzel graduated, cum laude, from Hunter College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned a Master's Degree in Education at Fordham University. For many years, Mrs. Fenzel wrote a social column for The Eastchester Record, and contributed poems and articles for family-oriented magazines. Mrs. Fenzel was a Speech Therapist at Lavelle School for the Blind, and a Reading Specialist in Armonk, Thornwood and Eastchester schools. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Alfred; her children Alfred, Joseph, Peter and Marianne; 12 grandchildren and sister Marita Bisceglia. FITZGERALD, TRACY LYNN WINDT - Tracy Lynn Windt Fitzgerald of Nanuet NY, formerly of Morris Plains, NJ and Belgrade Lakes, ME, soulmate of Michael Kevin Fitzgerald, got her wings on December 11th, 2002. Tracy was the loving and caring mother of Sarah "Sassy" Beatrice Fitzgerald and Cody Michael Fitzgerald. She was the joy and favorite daughter ("Gotcha, Joni!") of her mother, Valerie Franklin Windt and Arthur Gustuv Windt (deceased) and the fun-loving sister of Arthur "Skip" Windt, Jr. (deceased), Gary Windt of Morris Plains, NJ, Valerie "Joni" Saathoff of Morris Plains, NJ and Scott Windt of Virginia Beach, VA. Tracy is survived by her brother and sisters-in-law, Marsha Windt, Jim Saathoff, Debbie Windt, and Joe, Irene, Brian, Claire, Pat, Maureen and Kevin Fitzgerald. FREEMAN, CATHERINE R. - Catherine R. Freeman of Mount Vernon passed away on December 8, 2002. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 25, 1915 to Thomas and Catherine Gargan. She married William Freeman in 1937. He predeceased her in 1940. Catherine was employed by Chemical Bank as a bank supervisor for 35 years. Active in her church and community, she was a past President of the Ladies of Charity, held various positions within the Catholic Daughters of America and belonged to St. Joseph's Leisure Club in Bronxville. She was a communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul parish. Catherine is survived by her son William and wife Elizabeth Freeman of Boynton Beach, Florida, and daughter-in-law Angela Freeman of Pelham; her three grandchildren: Will, Stephanie and Samantha, and two great-grandchildren: Aspyn and Kendall. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Gargan of Dallas, Texas. Her son, Brian Freeman of Pelham, predeceased her in August, 1999. KELLEY, JAMES J. - James J. Kelley, Jr. of Haverstraw died Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was 73. James was born on January 18, 1929 in Ellington, CT, the son of James, Sr. and Hazel (Prentiss) Kelley. James was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. from WWII. He was a member of the Leo Lader Post #130 American Legion of West Haverstraw, the Haverstraw Senior Citizens and the North Rockland Senior Citizens' Club. James was a retired Colorist, having worked for Ciba-Geigy for many years. James is survived by his wife Mary (Gizzi) Kelley, a son James and wife Desiree Kelley of Delmar, NY; a daughter Theresa McSharar of Pomona; two brothers: Douglas and wife Lien Kelley and Cyril and wife Mary Kelley, all of Florida; a sister, Elaine Gartner of IL and one grandson Traviss McSharar. LESLIE, DOROTHY - Dorothy (Dottie) Leslie, 80, a longtime White Plains resident, died December 9, 2002, at home. Born November 26, 1922 to Suzanne Bella and Joseph Diana. She was the widow of the late Joseph C. Leslie, who predeceased her on August 27, 1994. They were married in White Plains in 1949. Mrs. Leslie worked at Bloomingdale's Department Store for many years, and after that, she was a Nurse's Aide at various nursing homes throughout Westchester. She is survived by her sister, Josephine DeMarte. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. LEVY, ARTHUR L - Arthur Levy, Ph.D, an Eastchester resident, died on December 10, 2002 at the age of 85. He was the Chief of Clinical Chemistry at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Selma Kaplan, his granddaughter Kimberly Tornatola and her husband Chris, a grandson Benjamin Stevens, two great-grandchildren Ariana and Justin, a sister Lilian Covitch. LOMIENTO, PAULINE - Pauline "Penny" Lomiento, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, died December 11, 2002. She was 76 and born October 15, 1926 in Port Chester to the late Salvatore and Grace Galimi Pugliese. She was raised and educated in Port Chester and graduated from Port Chester High School in 1944. She was married October 19, 1947, at Holy Rosary Church to Mr. Anthony "Cooks" Lomiento. Mr. Lomiento died in 1961. She was a secretary at SUNY Purchase for many years until her retirement in 1991. From 1991 to the present, she was a member of the office staff of J.J. Cassone Bakery in Port Chester. She was a parishioner of the Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester. Mrs. Lomiento enjoyed bingo and trips to the Bahamas. She is survived by her son, James Lomiento; brothers: Carl Pugliese and Fred Pugliese, all of Port Chester; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Maria "Boobie" Lomiento, and sister Millie Dena. Visitation will be on Friday, December 13, 2002 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Funeral Mass will be 1:00 PM Friday at Corpus Christi Church, South Regent Street, Port Chester, NY. Entombment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook, NY. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Lomiento may be made to the Corpus Christi Youth Center or the Holy Rosary Youth Center.
