GRESSER, JANET ETHEL - Janet Ethel Gresser, age 71, of Thornwood, New York, died on Saturday, December 7, 2002, at the Brandywine Nursing Home. Mrs. Gresser was born on May 21, 1931 in New York, New York. She raised children, worked at a local florist, volunteered at The Westchester Country Medical Center and was employed for many years as an Administrative Assistant at Rose's School of Dance in Hawthorne. Mrs. Gresser, a longtime supporter of the performing arts, was a cherished board member of Mt. Pleasant Community Theater. She was a tireless and dedicated worker in whatever capacity she served. Mrs. Gresser was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her husband Mitchell predeceased her in 2000. She is survived by her daughter Leslie Garcia and her husband Larry of Thornwood, NY. Her son William, his wife Tracy and their children Zachary and Rachel of Arlington, MA also survive her. A private graveside ceremony for immediate family was held on December 9th. HICKS, ANN P. - Ann P. Hicks of Stamford, CT, formerly of Greenwich, CT and previously of Rye, NY, died December 8, 2002. She was 77. Mrs. Hicks was born August 14, 1925 in Harrison, NY, to Charles and Katherine (Reale) Pascale. She grew up and attended Harrison schools. She was married to the late Herman Faiola, lived in Rye, NY, from 1955 until 1975, and had three children Thom Faiola of Steamboat Springs, CO, Nancy Reddington of Rye, NY, and Cathi Faiola Hayford of Nantucket, MA. She was later married to the late S. Milton Hicks and lived in Greenwich, CT from 1975 until 2001. Mrs. Hicks was a realtor for Preferred Properties in Greenwich for 12 years. She will be remembered for her generosity, lively wit and devotion to her children and two grandchildren. HOYLE, LYDIA L. - Lydia L. Hoyle, 97, of Stroudsburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2002 at Stroud Manor Nursing Home in East Stroudsburg. She was the beloved wife of the late James Hoyle. Born on January 4, 1905 in Closter, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Estella (Johnson) Oliver. Lydia moved to Monroe County, PA from Blairstown, NJ and was a resident there for the past 12 years. Prior to retiring in 1962, she operated James Hoyle Plumbing and Heating Company of Nyack, NY for many years. She was a member of the Nyack Board of Education as well. Surviving are her two daughters, Joan Mitchell of Blairstown, NJ and Lois Hanley of Stroudsbrug, PA; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. All those who loved her will miss her. Private services will be held at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 with Reverend Raymond Poortra officiating. ZEPATOS, SPERO J. - Spero J. Zepatos 81, of Coral Springs, Florida formerly of Bronxville, NY passed away on June 12, 2003. Born in New York City, he is survived by Sophia, his beloved wife of 54 years, his sister Dena Michael, his children Jerry, John, Thalia and Christopher, their spouses and seven grandchildren. He served as an Air Force Navigator in World War II. He was a Certified Life Underwriter, former President of Prophet Elias Green Orthodox Church, and member and former officer of the Order of AHEPA. WIGHTON, EDNA (NEE MC ELMEEL) - Edna Wighton of Yonkers died on March 20, 2003 at the age of 88. She was born in New York City on February 27, 1915 to Edward and Harriet McElmeel. She is survived by her daughter Joan Manno and three sons: Richard and Grace Wighton, John and Rhoda Wighton, and Charles Wighton; her sister Mrs. Jean Girsch, her 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Wighton, her son William Wighton and two brothers: Edward and Douglas McElmeel, and son-in-law Carmine Manno. Visiting Saturday and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. TOMPKINS, RICHARD L. - Richard L. Tompkins, Sr., 81, of Narrowsburg, NY and longtime resident of Hartsdale, NY, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at the home of his daughter in Hopkinton, NH. Mr. Tompkins was born March 8, 1922 in Yonkers, NY, the son of Frederick L. and Leah (Munson) Tompkins. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Colonel during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He worked as a Police Officer in Westchester County for the Parkway Police. Mr. Tompkins was an avid hunter and fisherman, and belonged to the Bear Swamp Hunting Club and the Beaver Brook Rod and Gun Club. He is survived by a son, Richard L. Tomkins, Jr. of White Plains, NY; daughters Mary Jane Devine of Hopkinton, MA and Patricia A. Tomkins of Hopkinton, NH and seven grandchildren. Calling hours will be held at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord, NH, today, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Burial will take place at a later date in Yonkers, NY. SELVAGGIO, JOHN S. - John S. Selvaggio on March 21, 2003 after a long illness. John was born in Harrison on July 22, 1921 to Carmelo and Mary (Bianca) Selvaggio, Sr. During World War II he was in the Navy assigned to the "Seabees". Afterwards he worked as a commercial artist for Fawcett Publications and later CBS. He was the beloved son of the late Carmelo and Mary Selvaggio. The devoted brother of Carmelo "Junior" Selvaggio, Theresa Selvaggio and Esther and her husband James Egan. He was also the loving uncle to Kevin and Mary Lou Egan, Susan Egan and James Egan and the proud great-uncle to Emily and Gregory. John will be reposing on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 East Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10 am at St. Gregory the Great R.C. SCHMIDT, DOROTHY MARGUARITE FREER - Dorothy Marguarite Freer Schmidt was called home Monday, March 17. Born on October 22, 1911 in New Paltz, NY to William and Ella Johnson Freer. She moved to Yonkers, NY, with her parents as a young child. Dorothy was a member of Messiah Baptist Church for more than 40 years. When she retired from the New York Cardiac Center in Yonkers, she spent her time swimming, exercise classes and did volunteer work teaching the mentally disabled to swim as well. She was also a member of the Nepperhan Community Center Senior Group #15. She is predeceased by her husband Russell Schmidt, two brothers Augustus and Kenneth Freer and great-grandson Zarry Remonte Ponder, Jr. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Shirley Smith and Joan Miller; grandchildren Charles Braswell, Darleen Ponder, Kirk Smith, Jr. and Jared Miller, Daren, Leonard, and Theodore Smith; great-grandchildren: Chantel and Shante Braswell, Kevin and Malcolm Ponder, and Dejan K. RICCI, RICHARD V. - Richard V. Ricci, a longtime resident of Port Chester, died peacefully on March 20, 2003 in Glen Cove, NY. Born on July 24, 1913 and graduated from Port Chester High School where he was President of his Senior Class and Captain of the football and golf teams. He was an officer and past President of the Port Chester Old Timers Athletic Association. He was married to the former Margaret McLaughlin who died in 1994. He is survived by his son Richard M. Ricci of Denver, CO and Melissa R. Stewart of Oyster Bay, NY, grandchildren John M. Stewart and Elena F. Stewart, daughter-in-law Lloyd Ricci and son-in-law Dr. John M. PLATT, MARY J. - Mary J. Platt, a longtime resident of Ossining, died Saturday, March 22nd, 2003 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. Mary was born in Quebec, Canada on March 15, 1912 and was the daughter of George and Josephine (Flynn) Tapp. She was 91. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Marie Ortega and Joan Myers; five sons: George, Joseph, Clyde, Andre and Christopher; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 7-9 PM with the Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10:00 AM, at St. Ann's Church. The interment will be private. PIZZARELLO, SUE M. - Sue M. Pizzarello, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, died March 20, 2003. She was 85, and born January 5, 1918 in Port Chester to the late Alfred and Liberata Storti Ricci. She was raised and educated in Port Chester and graduated from Port Chester High School in 1936. She was married January 11, 1941 at Corpus Christi Church to Mr. Joseph B. Pizzarello. Mr. Pizzarello died June 2, 1992. She was an employee of the Avon Corporation in Rye, NY for 22 years until her retirement in 1982, as an accounting clerk. Mrs. Pizzarello was a parishioner of the Holy Rosary Church and a member and past President of the Saint Ann's Sodality. She was also a member of the Mothers Club of the Holy Rosary School. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Trifiletti and husband Vincent of Mamaroneck and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her brothers Michael and Anthony Ricci, and sister Millie Ricci. Brother Richard "Lenny" Ricci also died March 20, 2003. APAR, HARRISON STEPHEN - Harrison Stephen Apar, on March 21, 2003, Philadelphia. Born November 29, 1987, Philadelphia. Beloved son of Elyse and Bruce, brother of Elissa, grandson of Roslyn ("Rozzy") and Dr. Leonard Middleman ("Da"); nephew of Linda and Robert Apar, of Linda, Therese and Marc Middleman; cousin of Natalie Apar; of Kiernan, Kathryn and Lauren Middleman. AUGUSTIN, MARY T. - Mary T. Augustin of Greenwich, CT, passed away on March 21 at United Hospital in Port Chester, NY. She was born January 24, 1914 in Greenwich. She and her late husband John D. Augustin were the founders of Augustin's Farm in Greenwich. She is survived by three children Veronica Major, John Augustin and Tim Augustin, three grandchildren and six nephews. WEIR, ANNE G. - Anne G. Weir of Harrison died on June 16, 2003, after a long, productive and happy life. Born to Amelia and Henry Gronholz on June 7, 1921, in New Rochelle, where Anne and her sister Whilimena "Willy" were schooled. Anne married Alexander Weir in 1939. He predeceased her in 1974. Anne was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great RC Church, and worked as a nurse at St. Agnes Hospital for many years, after which she volunteered in many organizations. Anne is survived by her children William, Sandra Vaughan, Douglas and Jeffrey and their spouses, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren she loved so well. There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 11 AM at St. Gregory the Great RC Church, followed by interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery. PURDY, EUGENE (GENE) - Eugene (Gene) Purdy died in a nursing home in Bridgeport. He is survived by his wife Bernadette of 100 Grandview Avenue, Port Chester, two sons Dennis and Keith, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

AUGELLO, MICHAEL A. - Michael A. Augello of Monsey died on June 15, 2003 at Ramapo Manor Nursing Home. He was 73. Born on October 1, 1929 in Bronx, NY to the late Guiseppe and Angela Tenacio Augello. On October 19, 1946, Michael married Rosaria Guzzetta in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in the Bronx. Michael was a retired teamster for HRH Construction for over forty years. Survivors include his devoted wife Rosaria of Monsey; two loving children, Michael J. Augello of Woodridge, NJ and Claudette B. Hough of Nanuet, NY; dear sisters, Anna Nassisi of Sunrise, Florida, Antoinette DelBiondo of Spring Valley, Lucy DeClary of Cape Coral, Florida, and Pauline Paduano of Hollywood, Florida; and one cherished granddaughter, Melody Wachtel. The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 17 and June 18, 2003 from 5-9 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY. HANNA, EMILY - Emily (Lily) Elizabeth Hanna, 91, died on June 12, 2003 at Calvary Hospital after a brief illness. Born November 9, 1911 in Belfast, Northern Ireland to the late James and Emily Fallows Johnston, she was the eldest of four children. Her brothers Frederick, John and sister Roberta predeceased her. On June 21, 1941 she married Rupert Hanna in the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon, NY. Mr. Hanna passed away on June 4, 1983. Lily is survived by her daughter Sheila and son-in-law Edmond Fitzgerald and her son Johnston Hanna and wife Laura. In addition she leaves four grandchildren, Vincent Fusco, Diane McCann, and Christian and Jonathan Hanna and a step-grandchild, Mark Fitzgerald. She is also the great-grandmother of Thomas, Andrew and Juliette Fusco, Lily and Wylie McCann and Marilyn Fitzgerald. For the past twenty years Lily worked at the Pelham Children's Center where she is affectionately known as "Grandma." Grandma will be missed by her colleagues and the many children she cared for at the center over the years. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday June 26, 2003 at 6:00 PM at the Manor Club, 1023 Esplande, Pelham, NY 10803. KENNEDY, AGNES - Agnes Kennedy of Suffern, NY passed away June 14, 2003 at the age of 87. Born in the Kingsbridge Section of the Bronx, NY to John and Mary (Monahan) O'Connor. Agnes was retired from the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Officer. She was predeceased by her husband George P. in 1994 and a daughter Kathleen Kennedy Sullivan. Agnes was the beloved mother of Jane and husband Patrick Burke of Montebello, NY, George P. and wife Patricia of the Villages, FL, Lorraine and husband Bernard Brady of Goshen, NY and Eileen and husband Jack Hughes of Crested Butte, CO. And was a beloved grandmother to 11 grandsons: Timothy (Joanne), Patrick (Maria), Michael, Paul (Christine) (Burke), John, George (Katie), Thomas (Kennedy), Justin, Damian, Rory (Brady), Timothy (Jill) (Sullivan) and beloved great-grandmother of ten: Molly, Anna, Patrick, Katherine, Daniel (Burke), Tucker, Tanner (Kennedy), Megan, Kennedy Kay (Sullivan), Declan. Allyson worked in Customer Service for the Telephone Company and also as an assistant for the White Plains Schools. She is the beloved wife of Salvatore Alfano. ANSALONE, AGNES, of Rye, passed away on November 14, 2008, she was 86 years old. She was born on June 14, 1922, the beloved daughter to James and Susan Stewart, beloved sister to four brothers. Agnes was a devoted wife to Anthony Ansalone. Agnes is survived by her family, Patricia Calvelli of Tuckahoe, Lorraine Vitale of Florida, Frances Gambacorta, of Pelham, Gerard Ansalone of New Rochelle, Catherine Fiumefreddo, of New Rochelle, Linda Quartironi of New Rochelle. Her daughter Theresa Lauricella, of Pelham and her son Arthur Ansalone, of Scarsdale both predeceased her. Agnes is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Church, and a lifelong resident of New Rochelle. Agnes devoted her life to her family, and her devotion to our Blessed Mother and the rosary was with her through out her life, we will all miss her dearly, but take comfort that the Lord blessed her in life and in Heaven. ANTINOZZI, LARRY, David Jr. on December 30, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer at age 52. Larry was born in Rye, NY to Larry and Inez (nee Celestino) Antinozzi. He graduated Rye High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Post University. Larry and his family moved to VA seven years ago where he was an award winning sales manager for Virco, Inc. His company specialized in school furniture and Larry’s dynamic personality propelled him to the top of his field. He was a mentor to many. Larry was an avid golfer, a member of Rye Gold and Fawn Lake Country Club. He loved to laugh and his winning personality and sense of humor endeared him to all. He is survived by his wife Aleene ( nee Nask), children Larry Antinozzi III, Audrey Antinozzi, his mother Inez, brothers Scott Antinozzi, Mickey Brea, and a sister Debbie Antinozzi. Memorial donations in Larry’s memory are being directed to Mary Washington Hospital Hospice, 1012 Southpoint Pkwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22407 Visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9. AUGONE, MARIE, a Yonkers resident, passed away January 7, 2008 at age 90. Born September 8, 1917 to Salvatore & Angelina Scarlata. Marie worked as a dress maker for E.D. Winter & Co. She was a member of the Bronx Senior Center at St. Benedict’s and also the Johnson Senior Center in Hollywood, Fl. Marie is the beloved wife of Louis Augone. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Louis Augone Jr. (Corine), Charles Augone (Barbara), MaryLou Merola (Anthony), Laura DeLuca Wani, Rosemary Saposnick, Joyce Covelli (Eddie) and Charlene DeAndrea. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Marie was the last of six siblings. Visitation Thursday January 10, 2008, 2-4 & 7-9.Funeral Mass Friday 10am St. Gregory the Great RC Church followed by interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery. BOCHICCHIO, CELESTE, of Mamaroneck, died November 7, 2008 at age 87. Born in New Rochelle on August 5, 1921, to Ralph & Kate Maria Michelle Cordore. Celeste graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1939. For many years she worked as a banker in New Rochelle. On February 17, 1946 she married Daniel J. Bochicchio. He passed away in 1992. Celeste is survived by her devoted son, Daniel Bochicchio of Mamaroneck, many loving cousins and friends including, Jack Farrell & Jean Gray. She is predeceased by her brother, Gerald Cordore. Visitation Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME 767E. Boston Post Rd Mamaroneck. 914-698-5968. Funeral Mass Monday 10am at Most Holy Trinity R.C. Church followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
