Edward J. Fitzgerald, 78, of Thompson Road, Cicero, died Tuesday. Born in Syracuse, he grew up in Cortland and lived most of his life in the Syracuse area. He retired in 1988 after 37 years as a pattern maker at Crouse-Hinds. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 191, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: None. Services: 10 a.m. Monday in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville. No calling hours. Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville, has arrangements. Terry J. Fontenot

Terry James Fontenot, 55, of Thomasville, N.C., formerly of Camillus, died Wednesday. Born in Eunice, La., he lived in Lake Charles before moving to Camillus. He worked for IBM for 32 years before moving to Thomasville, N.C. He was a member of the Central New York swimming community. He volunteered for Camillus Swim Club, Syracuse Chargers and West Genesee swim meets. He served in the Naval Reserve. Survivors: His wife, Jo-Anne Fontenot; a daughter, Traci Kowalewski of North Carolina; a son, Michael of North Carolina; his mother, Rose Fontenot of  Louisiana; his father, Vorise of  Louisiana; a sister, Beryl Romero of  Louisiana; two brothers, Toby and Sherman, both of  Louisiana; three grandchildren. Services: Will be in Lake Charles. Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, Greensboro, NC, has arrangements. Mary M. Loguidice

Mary Maccarone Loguidice, 74, of 138 Canal St., Canastota, died Thursday. Born in Canastota, she attended Canastota schools. She was a production worker at Stanton Paper Box Co. in Oneida and had worked with her husband operating Muckland Farms. She was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota. Her husband, Joseph, died in 1994. Survivors: Five brothers, Carmen Maccarone of Liverpool, Joseph Mancroni of Baldwinsville, Leonard Maccarone and Alfio Maccarone Jr., both of Canastota, and Sam Maccarone of Oneida. Graveside services: 11 a.m. today at St. Agatha's Cemetery. No calling hours. Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Canastota, has arrangements. Patricia Elizabeth Makowski, 65, of 8418 Theodolite Drive, Baldwinsville, died Thursday. She was born in Jersey City, N.J. She was a homemaker. Survivors: A daughter, Donna Townsend of Parish; a sister, Barbara Pitaressi of Jersey City; two brothers, Joseph Schreck of Franklin and Philip Schreck of Parish. Anthony J. Militi, 78, of Syracuse died Thursday. Born in Canastota, he lived 75 years in Syracuse. He retired in 1977 after 32 years at Allied Chemical. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a member of Knights of the Cross. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Mary Jane, died in 1990. Survivors: A daughter, Jamie K. Militi of Syracuse; a son, Jody A. of Syracuse; three sisters, Nancy Grenga, Mary Discenza and Connie Favalo, all of Syracuse; a grandchild. Services: 8:30 a.m. Monday at Farone & Son Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church. Burial, Assumption Cemetery. Edward J. Scherfling

Edward J. Scherfling, 84, of Baldwinsville and Big Moose died Thursday. Born in Marshfield, Wis., he graduated from Minoa High School and Oxford Institute. He retired in 1982 as a production manager at Rollway Bearing Co. after 40 years. He was a charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Baldwinsville, where he was a Sunday school teacher and choir member, and Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in North Syracuse. He was a former member and treasurer of Belgium-Cold Springs Fire Department. A son, Kenneth, died in 1964. Survivors: His wife of 55 years, the former Bernice R. Gauthier; three daughters, Linda Mayers and Karen Anders, both of Baldwinsville, and Tamala Smith of Rome; a son, Robert of Baldwinsville; two sisters, Halda Bader of Mattydale and Freida Dunn of Phoenix; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Monday in St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial, Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Betty J. Vanderpool

Betty Jane Vanderpool, 66, of 1700 W. Onondaga St., Syracuse, died Tuesday. Born in Syracuse, she graduated from Central Technical High School and received an associate's degree from University College. She retired in 1998 after 17 years with Kemper Life Insurance Co., where she worked in data input. She was a member of Four Square Gospel Church of God In Christ and was an usher. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion Dunbar Post 1642. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Survivors: Her husband, Darryl; two daughters, Gwen Riley of Atlanta, Ga., and Lisa Ruckman of Miami; a sister, Connie Mims of Syracuse; six brothers, Ronald and Duane Branch, both of  South Carolina, and Gary, Douglas and James Branch and Richard Jordan, all of Syracuse; five grandchildren. Services: 1 p.m. Monday in Four Square Gospel Church of God In Christ, Syracuse. Calling hours, 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the church, 218 Webster Ave., Syracuse. Garland Bros. Dana J. McCall, 88, of 17 Fifth Ave., Cortland, died Friday. He was born in Truxton and was a dairy farmer in the Truxton area for more than 40 years. He was a member of Homer Avenue Methodist Church, Cortland, Cortland Senior Citizens and Homer Grange. His first wife, the former Marjorie Johnson, died in 1986. Survivors: His wife, the former Audrey O'Donnell; two daughters, Shirley Howe of Zellwood, Fla., and Cynthia Owens of Schenectady; a son, Lawrence of Homer; a stepdaughter, Tamira Metzger of Norwich; two stepsons, Donnell Boyden of Scott and Daniel Boyden of Truxton; two sisters, Florence Smith of Norwich and Frances Beard of East Homer; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Ernest J. Archambault, 61, of 125 Brookside Lane, Fayetteville, died Tuesday. Born in Haverhill, Mass., he lived 22 years in Fayetteville. He graduated from Haverhill High School, Worchester State College, University of Arizona at Tucson and Assumption College. He retired in 2001 after 22 years as a psychologist with the Syracuse city school district. He was a member of May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors: His wife of 31 years, the former Rana L. Abbott; a daughter, Celeste A. Archambault of Syracuse; his mother, Cora A. Freniere Archambault of Haverhill; three sisters, Doris Herrick of Haverhill, Rita Shea of Canton, Mass., and Leona Verrichione of Milford, Mass.; four brothers, Paul and Donald, both of Haverhill, Henry of Harahan, La., and Leo of Derry, N.H. John Bocchino, 81, of Warners died Friday. Born in Warners, he lived 15 years in Lakeland and in Warners most of his life. He graduated from Warners High School. He was a machine operator with New Process Gear and previously worked for Smith Corona and Camillus Cutlery. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Warners, and a member of Camillus Senior Citizens. His wife, the former Josephine Szymanowski, died in 2000; a daughter, Joanne Giambrone, died in 2001. Survivors: A daughter, Roselyn McVicker of Solvay; a brother, Angelo of Warners; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Mark Edwin Conan Jr., 86, of 109 Overlook Drive, Syracuse, died Friday. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Syracuse University and SU's Medical School. He retired in 1991 as senior attending physician in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Joseph's Hospital and Community General Hospital. He was a member of the board of Catholic Charities and the American Red Cross. In 1990, he was named a letterman of distinction for crew from SU. In the 1950s, he was a founder and developer of Pee Wee Football. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife of 55 years, the former Patricia Eagan; two daughters, Patricia A. Conan of West Chicago, Ill., and Martha Conan Uittenbogaard of Chesapeake, Va.; two sons, Mark E. III and Timothy J., both of Syracuse; two grandchildren. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Ann's Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
