Thomas A. McHenry Jr.
Mr. Thomas A. McHenry Jr., 77, formerly of Corning, N.Y., passed away Saturday at Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility where he had resided since Jan. 23.
He was born on July 21, 1924 in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., the son of Thomas A. and Elizabeth Homan McHenry Sr. He was a graduate of Alexander Hamilton H.S. in Elmsford, N.Y.
Mr. McHenry served in the Army during WWII from 1943 until 1945. He was stationed in France, Belgium and Germany with the 7th Armored Division and attained the rank of sergeant.
From 1958 until his retirement, Mr. McHenry enjoyed golf, caning and refinishing furniture and dining with his friend Micheline McKinney.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Thomas G. and Corey McHenry of Rosewell, Ga. and Don and Lucy McHenry of Johnstown, N.Y.; one daughter and her husband, Mary Kate and Lee Gentile of Wrentham, Mass. He is also survived by one sister, Betty Beaulieau of Yorktown, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. McHenry was united in marriage to the former Mary Catherine "Mickey" Miller in 1949. Mrs. McHenry passed away in 1997. He was also predeceased by a brother, Jack McHenry.
Friends may visit the family at 6 p.m. today at the home of his son, Don McHenry, 201 W. Second Ave., Johnstown, N.Y. A memorial Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent's Church in Corning, N.Y. Interment will take place at St. Mary's cemetery in Corning, N.Y. in the spring. Donations may be made to the St. Patrick's Memorial Fund, 205 Glebe St., Johnstown, N.Y., or All Saints Parish-The Corning-Painted Post Roman Catholic Community, 222 Dodge Ave., Corning, NY 14830-1899. A private viewing will take place at Ehle Funeral Home, Johnstown, N.Y.
Olin Michael Rumrill
Olin Michael (Dogcatcher) Rumrill, 60, of 5936 Route 29, St. Johnsville, died Saturday, Feb. 16, at Little Falls Hospital, with his beloved wife and family at his side.
Olin was born on May 7, 1941 in Northville, N.Y., a son of the late Raymond and Dorothy "Looman" Rumrill and received his education in Stratford schools.
His marriage to the former Aleta Mae Johnson took place in Oppenheim on Oct. 21, 1967 with Max Lyons, justice of the peace, officiant.
He was employed at times in several local companies including Fred Clemmins Sawmill, Ralph Horender Construction, Allegro Shoe, Adirondack Bat Factory, Telerico, Daniel Green, and his latest employment was owner of Olin Rumrill's Woodcrafts from which he donated many items to local charities. Olin was also dog warden for St. Johnsville, Oppenheim, Stratford and Ephratah.
Olin always enjoyed being an outdoor sportsman, whether hunting, fishing or just camping.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years, Aleta; five sons and their wives, Arthur and Colleen Rumrill of Johnstown, Robert and Karen Rumrill of Fort Plain, Richard and Eva Rumrill of Lassellsville, Michael and Cindy Rumrill of Ephratah and Brian and Tina Rumrill of Salisbury Center; two daughters, Anna Tennant and her friend Bill Douce, of Lawrence, Mass., and Gail Rumrill and her friend Harry Vogel III of Little Falls; one brother, Raymond Rumrill of Dolgeville; a sister, Sue Rashbach of Frankfort; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Levitt and Dorothy Hool; and one grandson, Shawn Smith.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. William Hayes of Lassellsville will officiate. Interment will take place in the spring at Ephratah cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, consider donations to the family. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
Richard A. Rzesos
Richard A. Rzesos, 59, of County Highway 110, Broadalbin, died suddenly Saturday evening at home after being stricken.
He was born on May 4, 1942 in Amsterdam, the son of John and Bernice Kraus Rzesos. He was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1960 and was a lifelong area resident.
He was employed with the Schenectady GE and later with Local 7 of Albany as a steam fitter/plumber for 32 years until the present. He served in the Army National Guard and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife, the former Rose E. Da Biere, whom he married
on Jan. 24, 1970; one sister, Mary Ann Baker of Ballston Lake; one aunt; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a sister, Jeanette Rzesos; three half-brothers; and three half-sisters.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at De Stefano Funeral Home, Route 5S, Amsterdam. Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed at 9:15 a.m. by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Church. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel cemetery.
Robert Crowther
Robert Crowther, 50, of Gloversville, died early this morning at his residence.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1951 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Frank and Edna Latimer Crowther. He moved to Gloversville in 1995 and was employed by Lexington Day Treatment Center in Gloversville.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will directly follow at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. R.W. Williams will officiate. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill cemetery in Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to Lexington Center, 127 E. State St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
Marie Doyle
Marie (Ferrara) Doyle, 94, formerly of Phillips Street, Amsterdam, died Sunday evening at Wilkinson's Nursing Facility.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Riley Mortuary, 110 Division St., Amsterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church. Interment will take place at St. Mary's cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Jane H. Federico
Jane H. Federico, 58, of Water Street, Northville, died Feb. 18 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, where she had been a patient for one day.
She was born on June 2, 1943 in Cobleskill, N.Y., the daughter of Leslie and Dorothy Harroway. She was a graduate of Cobleskill College.
She was employed by the Northville Grand Union in the deli department for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Federico Sr. of Northville, N.Y.; one son, Harold Federico Jr. of Northville, N.Y.; one daughter, Lesley Federico of South Glens Falls, N.Y.; two sisters, Phyllis DeMarico of Lewiston, Vt. and Victora Grosso of Naples, Fla.
Funeral services and burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Northville Funeral Home.
Joanne Hemstreet
Joanne Hemstreet, 45, of Kingston, Mass., formerly of Bradenton, Fla. and Mayfield, N.Y., died Feb. 10.
A spiritual and loving mother of four sons, Brandon Ward of Edinburg, N.Y., Ryan Ward of Kingston, Mass., Thomas Keene and Korie Keene of Bradenton, Fla. Beloved by parents John and Frances Hemstreet of Palmetto, Fla. and the late Jane Wessell Hemstreet. Cherished by her sisters, Jacklyn Hemstreet of Duxbury, Mass., Janet McViney of Scituate, Mass. and the late Judy Hemstreet. She was a beloved family member to her fiance, Norm Connelly, his two daughters, Jessica and Sabrina, and his mother, Fran Connelly, all of Kingston, Mass. Joanne is survived by six nephews, John Longden, Keith Longden, Michael Hemstreet-Cartwright, Brian McViney, Todd McViney, Craig McViney and grandmother of Marissa Mancini. Also survived by a multitude of friends and loved ones.
Nita C. "Sally" Vanlone
Mrs. Nita C. "Sally" Vanlone, 89, of Maple Ave., Johnstown, died Saturday, January 5, 2002, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville after a long illness.
She was born March 07, 1912 in Gloversville, the daughter of Basil and Eva Vickery Webb.
Mrs. Vanlone attended the First United Methodist Church of Johnstown and Gloversville. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Amaranth, Acorn Rebecca Lodge, Eagles Auxiliary, and Bleecker Fish and Game Club, where she served as secretary for 35 years.
Mrs. Vanlone served as Bleecker Town Justice for a number of years.
She operated the former Vanlone Rest Home in Johnstown from 1950 to 1972. She then worked for the former Dexter Adult Home in Gloversville until she retired in 1975.
On June 30, 1934, she married
Mason C.J. Vanlone, who died February 1, 1968.
Survivors include: one daughter, Connie and her husband Rudy Hladik of Johnstown; two sons, Tom and his wife Gina Vanlone of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Bill and his wife Donna Vanlone of Miami, Florida; two brothers, Frederick Webb of Johnstown and Waldon Webb of Kentucky; six grandchildren, Tom, Chris and Connie Vanlone, Louanne Bruckner, Cathy Meher and Lisa Hayner; 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by one sister, Nina Morse, and one son, Daniel Vanlone.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. The Rev. R.W. Williams of Mountain Valley Hospice will officiate.
Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Fonda.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
