Hilda Budlong
Mrs. Hilda Budlong, 94, of Brussels Road, Wells, N.Y., died Wednesday evening at the Hallmark Nursing Home in Rotterdam, N.Y. following a long illness.
She was born on July 23, 1907 in Pittsfield, Mass. She was the daughter of Richard and Ethel Birchall Phair. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Wells United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Roland Budlong of Schenectady, N.Y.; one daughter, Lois Winslow of Edgewater, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her husband, Matthew Budlong, whom she married
in May of 1929, died on Nov. 2, 1990.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Spring burial will take place at Algonquin cemetery, Wells, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to Wells United Methodist Church or Wells Ambulance Corps.
Rosina D'Antonino
Rosina D'Antonino, 77, of Johnson Avenue, Johnstown, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Jan. 16, at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1924 in Johnstown, the daughter of Joseph and Antonia Pagano D'Antonino. She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1943.
She worked for 33 years as a payroll clerk for the former MCA Records in Gloversville and retired in 1987.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church.
She is survived by one sister, Frances Piraino of Johnstown; one niece, Antoinette Nellis of Gloversville; one nephew, Joseph D'Antonino of Gloversville; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Anthony D'Antonino, in 1973.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown. Prayer services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Johnstown. The Rev. Donald Czelusniak, pastor of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, will officiate. Entombment will take place in the family mausoleum in Mount Carmel cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Estelle Bishop
Estelle Hortense Bishop, 81, of Second Avenue, Gloversville, died Monday evening, Nov. 19, at St. Johnsville Nursing Home, after a long illness.
She was born May 14, 1920 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Emmitt and Hortense Lasher Conover.
She worked 25 years for Crescendoe Glove Co. as a glove worker and 25 years for Coleco Manufacturing.
She was of the Protestant faith.
The only known survivors are her close friend, Mrs. Dorothy Blowers, and her family, of Caroga Lake.
There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place in Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by Barter & Donnan Funeral Home.
Margaret Booth
Mrs. Margaret E. Booth, 85, of 38 W. Main St., Mayfield, died peacefully Monday evening at home.
She was born July 9, 1916 in Mayfield, the daughter of Elmer and Ella Sparr Bellen. She was a lifelong resident of the area.
She was employed as a glove worker for many glove shops in Mayfield and Gloversville.
She enjoyed fishing in Canada with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Penny Booth Sweet of Mayfield; a brother, Don Bellen, and his wife, Anja, of Mayfield; and a sister, Ellen Bellen of Mayfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Her husband, Leon "Red" Booth, died Oct. 11, 1969. She was also predeceased by four brothers, Charles, William, Forest and Robert Bellen, and a sister, Mary Bellen.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Northville Funeral Service Inc., 401 Bridge St., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will take place in Edinburg cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville.
Albert V. DelCostello
Albert V. DelCostello, 75, of Voorhees Road, Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday morning at his home after a brief illness.
Born in Amsterdam on May 12, 1926, a son of Michael and Serafina Frescura DelCostello, he was a lifelong area resident and attended Amsterdam High School.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II serving in China and Japan aboard the U.S.S. Estees.
He worked as a carpenter and woodworker all of his life. He first was employed by the Carpenters Union Local 7 of Amsterdam. Later he worked at the U.S. Naval Depot in Scotia, N.Y. He also was a self-employed contractor until his passing.
He attended his naval ship reunions for the U.S.S. Estees every year and traveled to many different places across the country for them.
Mr. Del Costello was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam.
He married
the former Antoinette Petrosino on June 5, 1949.
In addition to his beloved wife, survivors include: one loving son, Ronald DelCostello of Amsterdam; two loving daughters, Deborah A. Labate of Amsterdam and Patricia Tompkins of Schenectady; three dear brothers, Michael DelCostello of Amsterdam, Herman DelCostello of Gloversville, N.Y., and Carmen DelCostello of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. today at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Fort Johnson, N.Y. Calling hours were Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice in care of the funeral home.
Irving G. Denton Jr.
Mr. Irving G. Denton Jr., 55, of Fort Plain, passed away at his home suddenly on Thursday, November 22, 2001. He was born on Oct. 18, 1946 in Fort Johnson, the son of Irving and Nellie (Litchfield) Denton Sr. In 1971, in Amsterdam, N.Y., he married
the former Joan Mulchy. Having served in the U.S. Army, he was an auto mechanic. He was a member of the the Wanderer's Car Club of Cooperstown, N.Y.
He is survived by his wife Joan of Fort Plain; a daughter, Marcy Denton of Mayfield, N.Y.; a son, Shane Denton of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren; his mother, Nellie Nardo of Johnstown; two sisters, Delores Jennings and Marilyn Jennings, both of Fort Plain; several nieces and nephews.
Public calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at the Ottman Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Cherry Valley, N.Y., with the family in attendance. There will be no public funeral services at this time. As per family request, in lieu of flowers, donations in Irving's memory may be made to his family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home.
Hyman Glick
Mr. Hyman Glick, 82, of Sinclair Road, Edinburg, died Thursday evening at his home following a long illness. He was born on Sept. 19, 1919, in Latvia, Russia. He was the son of Alexander and Sonia Horwitz Glick. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was employed as an accountant by the New York City Rent Commission, retiring in 1984. Survivors include his wife, Rita Long Glick of Edinburg; two sons, Norman Glick of San Mateo, Calif., and Gary Glick of Portland, Maine; one daughter, Barbara Glick Read of Woodstock, Vt.; one brother, Harry Glick of New York, N.Y. Six grandchildren also survive him.
A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Robinson cemetery, Edinburg. Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Service.
Edward Nelson Montville
Edward Nelson Montville, 52, of Congress Street, Schenectady, died Friday, Nov. 23, at St. Claire's Hospital, Schenectady, following a long illness. He was born on March 21, 1949, in Elizabeth, N.Y., the son of Nelson and Helen Jerome Montville. He lived in Gloversville at one time and was last employed at a restaurant at the State Capitol building in Albany.
He is survived by two daughters, Melissa A. Pellegrino and Lynn M. Montville, both of Gloversville; two sons, Edward N. Montville Jr. of New Jersey and Jason J. Montville of Gloversville; one step-daughter, Lisa Almy of Schenectady; his fiance, Gloria Westcott of Schenectady; two brothers, Elmer Montville of Greenfield Center, N.Y. and Robert Montville of Schenectady; five sisters, Liza VanEtten of West Milton, N.Y., Linda Coons of Kentucky; Patricia Keefe of Schenectady, Lisa Montville of Schenectady, Brenda Hendricks of Kentucky; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will received friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill cemetery, Gloversville.
