Frances Gargiulo

Mrs. Frances Marie Gargiulo, 95, of Union Street, Gloversville, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Nathan Littauer Hospital.

She was born on April 7, 1906 in Frankfort, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Onorata Frank.

Mrs. Gargiulo was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church and its Rosary Society, Cayadutta Chapter No. 166 of the Order of Eastern Star and the Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens Club, all in Gloversville.

She is survived by her sons, Donald Gargiulo, and his wife, Gale, of Cypress, Calif., George Gargiulo, and his wife, MaryAnn, of Gloversville and Richard Gargiulo, and his wife, Patricia, of Saratoga Springs; a daughter-in-law, Marion Gargiulo of Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Gargiulo, in 1960; and a son, Albert J. Gargiulo Jr.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church. The Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. Interment will take place in the spring in Mount Carmel cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Room to Grow Pre-K, 161 S. Main St., Gloversville, N.Y. 12078.

M. Eleanora Janeski

M. Eleanora Freightenburg Morck Janeski, 93, of Park Hill Adult Home, Amsterdam, and formerly of Northampton Road, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital shortly after being admitted.

Mrs. Janeski was born on April 20, 1908 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Samuel J. and Elizabeth McMourn Freightenburg. She attended the former St. Joseph's School and graduated from St. Mary's Institute, both of Amsterdam.

Mrs. Janeski was employed by Key Bank as a bookkeeper and later was a babysitter at the Amsterdam YMCA.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Amsterdam.

Mrs. Janeski is survived by one son, J. Michael Morck and his wife Gay-Anita of Escondido, Calif.; three grandchildren, Peggy Morck Young of Mayfield, N.Y., Thomas M. Morck of Latham, N.Y. and J. Christopher Morck of Selkirk, N.Y.; one great-grandson, Nico Hutcherson of Mayfield, N.Y.; and her former daughter-in-law, Mary Morck Tower of Tribes Hill, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Janeski was predeceased by her first husband, Kenneth J. Morck in 1967; her second husband, John S. Janeski in 1975; and three sisters, Frances Quandt, Elizabeth Vidulich and Miriam Woodson.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam. Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary, followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 156 E. Main St., Amsterdam. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's cemetery, Fort Johnson, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Janeski's name may be made to Our Lady of the Snow, Sacred Heart League or St. Mary's Church Development Fund in care of the mortuary.

Leo Levi

Leo Levi, 74, of Main Street, Fultonville, N.Y., passed away Friday, Dec. 28, at Albany Medical Center Hospital after being struck by a motor vehicle on Wednesday.

He was born on April 13, 1927 in Markt, Berolzheim, Germany, a son of Max and Lina Buelher Levi. He was a resident of Germany until he was 11. He lived in the New York City area and New Jersey for most of his young adult life. He attended high school in the Bronx, N.Y. at the Bronx High School of Science. He was a graduate of New York University earning his B.S. degree.

He was a World War II veteran of the Navy.

He was employed for over 20 years while living in Florida as a statistician for the state of Florida. He moved back to New York and New Jersey recently with his wife Reva, and finally lived in Fultonville, N.Y.

He attended Believer's Fellowship Family of God Church in Johnstown, N.Y. He was a man of God and he loved much.

He married the former Reva Briggs Rose after her husband Wilbur Rose passed away in 1987. They were married on Sept. 4, 1993.

In addition to his wife, survivors include seven stepchildren; several step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and cousins also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Faith Tabernacle, Warren Street, Johnstown, along with Believer's Fellowship Family of God Church. Interment will take place in Saratoga National cemetery in the spring with military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY 12072.

Janet M. Ormiston

Janet M. Ormiston, 68, of Stoneridge Landing, Inverness, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 17, at her residence under the care of her friends and Hospice of Citrus County.

She was born on April 16, 1933 in New York to the late Clifford and Mildred Cotton. She moved to Inverness in 1964 from Rensselaer, N.Y.

Mrs. Ormiston was the former owner/operator of a restaurant and one of the owners of The Leader-Herald newspaper in Gloversville, N.Y.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include two nieces, Linda Steele of Loudonville, N.Y. and Robin Belkavitch of Shodack Landing, N.Y.; one nephew, Donald Dawes of Averhill, N.Y.; five stepchildren; one step-grandchild; several friends including Pete and Gloria Wilson of Inverness, Fla.

Robert Oare Jr.

Robert Oare Jr., 75, of Church Street, Hagaman, passed away unexpectedly Saturday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 18, 1926 in Broadalbin, a son of Robert and Elsie Kisinger Oare Sr. He was a lifelong resident of the Fulton and Montgomery County area. He attended Gloversville High School.

He worked first for Mohasco in Amsterdam. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He then was employed as a millwright for General Electric Co., Schenectady, for over 25 years.

Mr. Oare was of the Protestant faith.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed camping.

He married the former Dorothy Orrey on Oct. 7, 1950. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Robert M. Oare and his wife Nancy of Amsterdam and Edward N. Oare and his wife Donna of Westerlo, N.Y.; two daughters, Bonnie L. Vascherault of Gainesville, Fla. and Laurie Smith and her husband Jeffrey of Schenectady; one brother, Gerald Oare of Gloversville; one sister, Kathleen Kucel of Gloversville; two grandchildren, Robert R. Oare and Arthur R. Vascherault; one great-grandson, Joshua Hunter Oare; two step-grandchildren, Julia Presley and Nattiece Taylor; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. Cremation will take place at Vale cemetery Crematorium in Schenectady. Burial will take place at Union Mills cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery County S.P.C.A. State Highway 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Marian S. Lobas

Mrs. Marian S. Lobas, 87, of Seven Hills Road, Northville, died Saturday evening at Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility following a long illness.

She was born on May 12, 1914 in Czechoslovakia. She had been a resident of Northville for 21 years and was a homemaker.

She married William S. Lobas on Dec. 9, 1941. He survives. She is also survived by one sister, Ann Prokop of Warren, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St. Burial will take place at Saratoga National cemetery.

Charlotte V. Therrien

Mrs. Charlotte V. Therrien, 81, of Nelliston, died Sunday at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, where she had been a resident.

She was born on June 17, 1920 in Ilion, N.Y., the daughter of John and Myrtle Mowrey France. She was raised and educated in Johnstown and resided there for many years.

She was employed at Baronet Litho in Johnstown for many years. Mrs. Therrien also worked as a hostess at Johnstown Holiday Inn and Johnstown Hotel and worked at the Juniorama clothing store.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters in Johnstown and was an avid bowler.

After her retirement, Mrs. Therrien was the caretaker for the Fort Klock Restoration in St. Johnsville, N.Y. and was a member of the Fort Klock Historical Society, the Adirondack Weavers Guild and was a published author of poetry and cookbooks.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl M. Burton of Johnstown; a grandson, James A. Longfritz; and a great-grandson, Joshua B. Longfritz of Johnstown; a niece; a nephew; and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her two husbands, William H. Christoff and Alfred Therrien; a brother, Chester France; and her son, Bruce W. Christoff, who died on Dec. 21, 1991.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, where funeral services will follow at noon. The Rev. Kenneth Dingman will officiate. Burial will take place at Fort Plain cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Fort Klock Restoration Fund in care of the funeral home.
