Patsy V. Silvestro: Retired carpenter

Patsy V. Silvestro, 63, a resident of Croton-on- Hudson and formerly of Port Chester, died July 10, 2011.

He was born Jan. 15, 1948 in Bronxville, N.Y. to the late Thomas and Rosanna Christiano Silvestro.

He was raised and educated in Port Chester, graduating from Port Chester High School in 1966.

Mr. Silvestro was a retired carpenter.

He is survived by his daughters Patricia Silvestro- Gaylord and Tracie Silvestro; grandchildren Jarius, Jordan and Jason Gaylord; sisters Mary Silvestro of Port Chester, Vera Gardell of Stamford, Conn. and Rosanna Silvestro of Yorktown Heights.

He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Silvestro.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Fri., July 15 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc., Irving Avenue and Leicester Street, Port Chester.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Sat., July 16 at Corpus Christi Church, 136 S. Regent St., Port Chester, with interment to follow at Saint Mary’s cemetery in Rye Brook.

Joseph A. Zygman, Sr.: Retired sheet metal worker

Joseph A. Zygman, Sr., 80, a resident of Port Chester, died July 11, 2011.

He was born Dec. 3, 1930 in Port Chester to the late Joseph and Mary Cully Zygman.

He graduated from Port Chester High School in 1948.

He was married Apr. 1, 1950 in Greenwich, Conn. to Patricia Martin who died Aug. 8, 2009.

Mr. Zygman was a sheet metal worker for 63 years with Local #38 in Brewster, N.Y.

He was a member of the 9th District Vets in Glenville, Conn. and was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Port Chester.

He is survived by his sons Joseph Zygman, Jr. of Port Chester and Michael Zygman and wife Maria of Somers and by his granddaughter Micaella Zygman of Florida.

He was predeceased by his son John Zygman and sister Mary Ann Zygman.

Celia Gendalia Archino: Former P.C. resident

Celia Gendalia Archino, 83, of Miami, Fla., died peacefully at her home on June 30, 2011.

She was born in Port Chester on Oct. 10, 1927, but lived most of her life in Miami.

Mrs. Archino was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph.

A loving mother and grandmother, she will be missed by her devoted children Joseph (Kathleen) Archino, Karen (Tony) Senzatimore and Janice (Luis) Leon.

She is also survived by her brother Frank (Marilyn) Gendalia and family of Port Chester.

She will be remembered as a loving and caring grandmother and great-grandmother.

Burial took place at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic cemetery in Miami.

Donations may be made in her memory to St. Dominic’s Church, 5909 NW 7th St., Miami, FL 33126.

Gabriel Ismael Leon

Gabriel Ismael Leon, 22, of Port Chester, formerly of Ecuador, died June 30, 2011.

Ricardo Delacruz

Ricardo Delacruz, 64, of Port Chester, died July 4, 2011.

Doris Mainiero

Doris Mainiero, 84, of Port Chester, died July 5, 2011.

Vera Capuano

Vera Capuano, 95, of Stamford, Conn., previously a 50-year resident of Pelham Manor and sister of a Rye Brook woman, died July 9, 2011.

She was born in New York City May 29, 1916 to Louis and Generosa Cossa.

She graduated from Immaculata High School in New York City and was married to A. Edward Capuano who predeceased her in 1983.

Mrs. Capuano enjoyed both a professional career and life as a homemaker.

In addition, she was an active volunteer at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, with local Cub Scout groups, the Ladies of Charity and was an active member of the Manor Club.

She is survived by three children: Lorraine Capuano, Edward (Liz) and Robert (Andrea); four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Jill Ciraldo of Rye Brook.

Margaret Nolan West: Homemaker and secretary

Margaret Nolan West, 92, a resident of Boca Raton, Fla., died peacefully on Feb. 5, 2010 at The Hospice by the Sea.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1917 in Port Chester to the late John and Rosetta Grey Nolan.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard “Duke” West, in 1997 whom she married on Oct. 20, 1939. They lived in Port Chester to raise their family until their retirement in 1976 when they moved to Boca Raton.

Besides being an exceptional homemaker, she was employed by the law firm of John Hughes in White Plains and for Hawkswell & Smith in Port Chester.

She is survived by her beloved children, Karen West Mignone of Coconut Creek, Fla. and John Nolan West and his wife Patricia of Westport, Conn.; her loving grandchildren, Christine Mignone of Norwalk, Conn., Michael Mignone and his wife Nicole of Clark, N.J., Andrew West and his wife Jennifer of Portland, Ore. and Allison West of Westport.

Also surviving are her sister, Ann Nolan of Greenwich, Conn., her great grandsons, TJ and Jake Savvaides of Norwalk and her expectant great granddaughter due in March.

In addition to being a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her love of family and special friends was a pivotal part of her life. She gave of her time and energy to many endeavors like volunteering at the Boca Raton Medical Center for many years. Margaret touched the lives of many with her generous love, kind spirit and her wonderful smile.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 260 Westchester Ave., Port Chester. Craft Memorial Home in Port Chester is in charge of the arrangements. There are no calling hours.

Mickey (Margaret) Matturro

Mickey (Margaret) Matturro, 83, of Rye Brook, died Feb. 2, 2010.

She was born Oct. 14, 1926 in the Bronx to Thomas and Mary (Scafuta) Milo.

She was the wife of the late Vincent Matturro, mother of Joseph (Angela) Matturro; Maria (Billy) Bottiglieri and Tomianne (Michael) Maggio; grandmother (Mima) to her eight grandchildren: Mathy (Barry) Terrill; Vincent (Bree) Matturro; Billy (Samantha) Bottiglieri, Mickie Bottiglieri, Michael Bottiglieri, Melissa Bottiglieri, Vincent and Christopher Maggio and greatgrandma to Grady J. Matturro.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Matturro touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her loving and generous ways and her loyalty and devotion to her family and friends. Her hobby was spending time with her grandchildren. Her radiant smile illuminated the room, and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her. To know her was to love her.

José Contreras

José Contreras, 55, of Port Chester, died Feb. 5, 2010.

Salvatore D. Verrastro

Salvatore D. Verrastro, 86, formerly of Rye Brook, died Feb. 10, 2010 at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born in Port Chester Mar. 8, 1923 to the late Vito and Domenica Maria Verrastro.

A longtime resident of Rye Brook, he had been residing in Weston, Conn. at the home of his daughter and son-in-law for the past nine years.

He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, the former Christine Racanello, who died in 2001.

He graduated from Port Chester High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Panama.

Mr. Verrastro enjoyed spending time with his family above all else.

He was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed golfing, football, baseball and horse racing.

He was a longtime parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester and presently of Saint Francis of Assisi in Weston where he had served as an usher and participated in many parish activities.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Denise Verrastro Sisca and Robert A. Sisca, and his grandchildren Cristina and Robbie. In addition, he is survived by 21 nieces and nephews.

One of seven brothers, he was predeceased by Dominick, Daniel, Leonard, Carl, Paul and John.
