Dorothy Mae Wilson

Dorothy Mae Wilson, 81,a longtime resident of Port Chester, died Feb. 10, 2010 in Greenwich, Conn.

She was born to Everett and Rose (Woods) Kilpatrick on Apr. 10, 1928 in Port Chester, where she graduated from Port Chester High School and then was employed in the school system as a teacher’s aide.

She was active with St. Frances AME Zion Church in Port Chester, serving as stewardess, Buds of Promise, Sunday School teacher and in the choir.

Surviving are a daughter, Lois Dickey of Port Chester; three sons: Donald Wilson, Thomas Wilson, Jr. and Charles Wilson; seven grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren and others.

She was predeceased by brothers Everett, Robert and Van Kirk Kilpatrick and a sister, Nettie Kilpatrick Williams.

Jerry J. Powell

Jerry J. Powell, 66, of Hawthorne, a former of Port Chester resident, died February 14, 2010.

He was born Sept. 3, 1943 in Port Chester, where he lived most of his life.

He was the son of Jerry and Rafaela Powell.

He graduated from Port Chester High School and served in the CT Army National Guard from 1965-1971.

Mr. Powell was a plant manager at Marvel Mystery Oil in Port Chester for more than 35 years.

He enjoyed traveling, especially his trips to Italy, with his family.

He was also a diehard NY Yankees fan.

He is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Finamore and her husband, Joseph and Tammy Close and her husband, Gregory; his brother Frank and his wife Patricia; his three granddaughters; Lauren and Annalisa Finamore and Mia Close; his two nieces; Susan Martone and Catherine Panagrossi and his nephew, Frank W. Powell.

Robert "Bob" Sacharski

Robert “Bob” Sacharski, 82, of Harrison, died Feb. 16, 2010.

He was the husband of Florence (née Kilanowski), father of Eileen and father-in-law of Dr. Silvio Ceccarelli, who has a medical practice in Port Chester. He was the grandfather of Margaret, Peter and Michael.

He is also survived by a sister, Adele Zieniuk, and nephew Mark, wife Micheline and their two children.

Mr. Sacharski graduated from Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, Pa. with degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics.

He is a decorated veteran of WWII and was retired from the Comptroller’s Office of the City of New York.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc., corner of Leicester Street and Irving Avenue, Port Chester. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Willett Avenue, Port Chester. Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s cemetery in Greenwich, Ct.

Marion Walters

Marion Walters, 93, a longtime employee of Vaccaro’s Supermarket in Port Chester and a former resident of Rye, died Feb. 7, 2010.

She was born in Rye June 11, 1916, one of eight children born to Nicholas and Mary Genovese LaRussell.

Mrs. Walters attended local schools and worked at Vaccaro’s Supermarket for many years.

She was married to Michael Walters who predeceased her.

She loved the sun and walking at Rye Beach with her companion of 20 years, John Kirwin. She also loved vacationing in Maine with John and his family at the home of his daughter Mary Ford who helped care for her and was with her at her passing.

Mrs. Walters is survived by her sisters: Bonnie Travis, Rose Evans and Ann Hannah and brothers: Nicholas Jr. and Paul.

She was predeceased by her brothers Frank and Andy.

Marie McCullough Macri: Worldly nurse

Marie McCullough Macri died Dec. 19, 2006 in Bellevue, Wash. of A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). She was 84.

Born Feb. 27, 1922 to William J. and Irene Mc- Cullough, she graduated from Port Chester High School in 1939.

After graduating from St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in New York City, she joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, serving on Tinian and Guam Island in the Pacific.

She returned to Port Chester and worked for many years in the office of Dr. Arthur Diedrich.

In 1955 she married Joseph A. Macri, Lt. USCG, living at various times in St. Louis, Puerto Rico and Japan before moving to Bellevue, Wash. in 1960.

She was active in St. Louise de Marillac Church, playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles and rooting for the Seattle Mariners baseball team.

She is survived by her husband Joseph, sons Joseph (Chris) and Michael (Jan), daughters Catherine (David), Susan and Theresa (Ron), and grandchildren J.R., Joshua, Morgan, Dylan, Oksana, Alexandra, Carley and Angelina, many nieces and nephews and a sister, Emily Abel of West Palm Beach, Fla.

She was predeceased by her parents and a sister Irene.

Services were held at St. Louise de Marillac RC Church on Sat., Dec. 23.

Anne Kochanowicz

Anne Kochanowicz, 89, of Port Chester died Dec. 24, 2006.

Antonio Greco

Antonio Greco, 96, a Port Chester resident, died Dec. 26, 2006.

He was born Oct. 25, 1910 in Roccasecca Provinca Frasinone, Italy to Vincenzo and Rosa Greco.

On Feb. 14, 1931, he married the late Bernarda Fraioli.

He is survived by his four sons: Luigi, Tommaso, Mario and Folco Greco, all of Port Chester, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Rosa.

James W. Vaccaro

James W. Vaccaro, 70, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, died December 27, 2006.

He was born Sept. 7, 1936 in Port Chester to James and Maria Santaciro Vaccaro. He was raised and educated in Port Chester, graduating from Port Chester High School in 1954.

Mr. Vaccaro was married Sept. 27, 1959 at Saint John the Evangelist Church in White Plains to Marylyn Fuller.

He was a retired maintenance foreman for the Mamaroneck School District, having put in 28 years when he retired in 1992. He was previously an electrician.

Mr. Vaccaro was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Port Chester. He was also a member of the Port Chester Yacht Club and the Port Chester Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife Marylyn Vaccaro of Port Chester, sons James W. Vaccaro Jr. and his wife Virginia, Charles H. Vaccaro and his wife Balbina, grandchildren Nicole, Kristen, Kayla, and Amy Vaccaro.

Mr. Vaccaro was predeceased by his brothers Joseph “McGee,” Anthony “Cagie,” John “Scotty” and Vito Vaccaro and sisters Anna Mecca, Catherine Greico and Marge Bracciale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Rosary School Tuition Assistance, Central Avenue, Port Chester, NY 10573.

Adeline R. Tocco

Adeline R. Tocco, 82, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, died Dec. 28, 2006 at Port Chester Nursing Home after a short illness.

Mrs. Tocco worked for Life Savers Inc. in Port Chester and IBM Cafeteria in White Plains.

She was born June 20, 1924 in Port Chester to Romeo C. Benvenuti and Yolanda H. Giorgi. She was educated in Port Chester and graduated from Port Chester High School in 1944.

Mrs. Tocco was a member of Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester and a past member of Port Chester Emblem Club.

She is survived by her husband Ernest, daughter-in-law Josie Tocco, grandchildren Christy and Danny, brother Albert, sister Amelita, inlaws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family members who died earlier include her son Ernest, brother Lawrence Benvenuti and sister Emma Vesio.

R. Scott Tucker

R. Scott Tucker, 36, of Greenwich, Conn., formerly of Rye and the son of Rye Brook residents, died Jan. 6, 2007.

He is survived by his wife Catherine and children Matthew and Melissa, parents Ann and Robert Tucker of Rye Brook and brother Kyle Tucker.

He will forever be remembered for being a loving father, husband, son, brother and friend as well as for his passion for literature, poetry, music, athletics, teaching and Lake Bomoseen, Vt.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Scott’s name to the Brunswick School, 100 Mayer Ave. Greenwich, CT 06830.

Martha Knudson

Martha Knudson, 86, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, died Jan. 8, 2007.

She was born Jan. 25, 1920 in Port Chester to Henry and Bessie Wright Braun.

She was married to John Knudson who died Jan. 25, 2003.

Mrs. Knudson was a retired assistant librarian for the Port Chester High School.

She was a member of All Souls Parish/Port Chester Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her daughters Karen Eisenburg and Beth Watson, the latter of Port Chester, and son Jan Knudson.

Donald C. Richards

Donald C. Richards, 71, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, died Jan. 8, 2007.

He was born May 13, 1935 in Port Chester to Robert and Frances Bailey Richards.

He was raised and educated in Port Chester, graduating from Port Chester High School. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute in Troy, N.Y. with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

He served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1959.

Mr. Richards was the owner of D.C. Richards Insurance Company in Port Chester for many years until his retirement in 2003.

He was a member of the Port Chester American Legion Post 93, Port Chester Rotary Club, the 40/40 Club, the Port Chester Chamber of Commerce, the Port Chester Old Timers Athletic Association, and was active in the Republican party.

Mr. Richards was predeceased by his brother, Robert F. Richards.

Johanna M. “Joan” Murphy

Johanna M. “Joan” Murphy, 85, a longtime resident of Rye Brook, died Jan. 13, 2007.

She was born Apr. 1, 1921 in County Kerry, Ireland to Patrick and Elizabeth Carmody Fleming.

She was raised and educated in Ireland and graduated from Hackney School of Nursing in London, England during World War II.

She immigrated to the United States in 1948 and was married Sept. 9, 1950 to Cornelius Murphy at Saint Ann’s Church in Brooklyn. Mr. Murphy died in 1987.

They settled in what is now Rye Brook in 1950, and she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester.

Mrs. Murphy became a naturalized United States Citizen in July 1955.

She was a member of the Rye Brook Senior Citizens and the Port Chester Irish American Association.

She was an avid bridge player, loved dancing and enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her son Shaun Murphy and his wife Patricia; daughters Elizabeth “Erin” Murphy and her husband Jon Schmidt, Eileen Parciasepe and her husband Peter; five granddaughters; brothers James and Michael Fleming, the latter of Port Chester, and sister Maureen McDonough of Rye Brook.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Neil J. Murphy, who died in 1990; brothers Patrick and Sean Fleming and sister Margaret Casey.

Nicholas Renna III

Nicholas Renna III, 43, of Brookfield, Conn., brother of a Rye Brook man and the husband of Shawna (Burlinson) Renna, died Jan. 13, 2007 in White Plains.

He was the son of Nicholas and Marian (Ciardullo) Renna of West Harrison.

In addition to his parents and wife, Shawna, he is survived by three children: Nicholas P. Renna, Collin Richard Renna and Chloe Nicholette Renna; two brothers, Michael L. Renna and Anthony J. Renna and his wife Berit of Rye Brook.

Frank Joseph Amann

Frank Joseph Amann, 86, of Congers, N.Y., father of a Port Chester man, died Dec. 9, 2007.

He was born Jan. 30, 1921 in Manhattan to George and Elise (Beco) Amann.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, first with the 100th Infantry Division, then with the Texas 36th Infantry Division.

He received the American Service Good Conduct Medal, European African Medal, Victory Medal and was a Purple Heart recipient

He went to Stuyvesant High School and Textile High School and then Community College of New York.

Mr. Amann worked as a display man for Montgomery Ward for two years, W.T. Grant for one year, and F.W. Woolworth for 40 years before retiring in 1985.

He had a love for music, art and Volkswagens.

He is survived by his children Frank and wife Pat; Kristine Kahl; Elissa Brady; Edward Sexton and wife Lorraine of Port Chester; Malcolm Sexton; Margaret Moose and husband Dewey; Elizabeth McKinley and husband Bob; Steven, Christopher and Richard Amann.

He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a brother Adalbert and his wife Virginia.

He was predeceased by his first wife Alice Bauer, second wife Elizabeth Hynes-Sexton and brother George.

Christina Telesco

Christina Telesco, 81, of Port Chester died Oct. 2, 2007.

Rita Bay

Rita Bay, 86, of Rye Brook died Sept. 11, 2007 in her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Oct. 20, 1920 in Detroit, MI and her family moved to the Port Chester area soon after.

On Dec. 10, 1949, she married the love of her life, Joe Bay, who died in 1971

Mrs. Bay is survived by her two daughters, Rita Banahan and Barbara (Robert) Buzzeo; five grandchildren: Kathleen (William) Prout, James (Michelle) Banahan, Kevin Banahan, Helaina Buzzeo and Mat (Alicia) Buzzeo.

Also surviving are five greatgrandchildren, two nieces and one nephew

Mrs. Bay loved to cook, bake, garden and decorate her house for all the holidays, and she especially loved being with her family.

Those who predeceased her, including her husband, are two sisters, Evelyn Miner and Marie Vishkoff, a brother, Carl Hyler, her parents, Samuel and Mary Olson Hyler, and grandson Brian Banahan.
