Louis Curioli

January 1, 1900 - January 1, 1900

Louis Curioli, age 71, died on August 11, 2008 at the Rosary Hill Home. Son of the late Remo and Pauline Curioli, he was born on March 13, 1937 in the Bronx, N.Y. Louis was a printer who graduated from the New York School of Printing in Manhattan. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1959. He married Vera Mele in 1961 and had three children, Christopher Curioli and his wife Mary, Therese Mercurio and John Curioli and his wife Dawn. Brother of Peter Curioli and his wife Antoinette, Lawrence Curioli, Geraldine Sweeney and her husband John and the late Paul Curioli who was a victim of the September 11th, World Trade Center attack. Also survived by his sister-in-law Kathi Curioli. Grandfather of Carolyn, Sarah and Laura Curioli, Kaitlynn and Johnny Mercurio, Jordan, Nicholas and Michael Curioli. Friends who wish may visit on Wednesday from 2-4 to 7-9 p.m. at WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME. INC., Eastchester. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 14th, 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe followed by cremation at Ferncliff Crematory, Hartsdale. Sebastian “Sal” J. Leone, 85, of Eastchester, NY. died on January 3, 2010 at his home. Beloved husband of Helen (Myskow) Leone. Loving father of Michael (Charmane) Leone, Jeanne Longhitano, Michele (Thomas) Capolino, Sally Ann (Louis) Tripodi, Lynn Leone, and Marianne Leonelli. Dear brother of Frank and the late Antoinette, Rosie, Yolanda, Mike and Rocco. Loving grandfather of Vincent, Jessica, Korynn, Alexis, Danielle, Kristin, Alexander, Michael, and Gregory. Cherished great grandfather of Sophia, Isabella, Andrew, and Steven. Sebastian Served in the U. S. Army during WWII before entering into the restaurant business. Mary Farrell Denning

February 4, 1943 - January 8, 2010

Mary Denning (nee Farrell), 66, of Eastchester, NY passed away with her family by her side Friday, January 8, 2010 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center after complications with her battle with lymphoma.
Mary was born February 4, 1943 in Endrim Ferbane, County Offaly, Ireland.

Mary immigrated to the United States in November 1960 where she met and married her husband Philip Denning in New Rochelle, NY in 1965. Mary is survived by her husband Phil and their six children: Elizabeth Sheehan and her husband Jim of Hawthorne, Michael and his wife JoAnn of Eastchester, P.J. and his wife Ann Marie of Pelham Manor, Doreen of Larchmont, Caroline Inello and her husband Ray of Eastchester and Neal and his wife Tara of Eastchester and fifteen grandchildren who lovingly caller her “Boo Boo.” Mary is also survived by her brother Paudraig and sisters Lilly, Bernadette, Josie and Breeda and 32 nieces and nephews and was predeceased by her brother Jerry Farrell (2003).

Mary was an active and longstanding member of various organizations within the Irish and Eastchester communities most notably the American Irish Association of Westchester, the County Offaly Association and the Eastchester Irish-American Social Club. Mary was honored as an aide to the grand marshal of the first ever Eastchester St. Patrick Day Parade in 2005 and as the grand marshal in 2006. Mary was an aide at Scarsdale High school and worked for New York Telephone when she came to the U.S.

Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother; a giving member of the community and for her pride in her Irish heritage.

Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main St. Eastchester and her funeral mass will be Wednesday at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church 53 Winter Hill Rd, Eastchester and will be laid to rest at Holy Mount cemetery, Eastchester.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Aisling Community Center (www.aislingcenter.org) or The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe (www.communityfund.org).

John H. Gorrebeeck

July 15, 1941 - January 10, 2010

John H. Gorrebeeck, 68, of Eastchester, died on January 10, 2010. Beloved husband of Eda Perito Gorrebeeck. Loving father of Audrey (Joseph) Gherardi, and Lisa (Christopher) Hatheway. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Dwyer Gherardi, Juliet Gherardi, and Emily Hatheway. Dear brother of the late Edith Ferraco. John worked for the City of Mt. Vernon in the Parks Department for 39 years. The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC, Eastchester, Wednesday from 2-4, 7-9PM. A Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 14th at 10:30am followed by cremation at Ferncliff Crematory. Ralph Cancro, Ph.D.

June 28, 1928 - January 12, 2010

Ralph Cancro, Ph.D, 81, of Bronxville, NY, died on January 12, 2010. Beloved husband of Marcella (Rosignoli) Cancro. Loving father of Lawrence (Luise) Cancro, Barbara (Frank) Carr, Susan Brown, and Lorraine Cancro. Dear brother of Robert Cancro, MD. Cherished grandfather of Laura Marie Cancro, Lisa Cancro, Andrew Carr, Cristina Carr, and Emma Brown. Dr. Cancro served as a member of the US Army Air Corps during WWII, having served in the Air Transport Command, before obtaining a B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Columbia University, NY, NY.
He practiced in this area of psychology for fifty three years. At the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, N.Y. he served as Director of Psychological Services for 23 years and as Co-Director of Mental Health Services for a similar period of time. While at the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, in addition to clinical and supervisory responsibilities, he initiated and participated in research projects, lectured in seminars, and conducted workshops at colleges and universities in the tri-state area. Following his tenure at the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, he was an attending psychologist at St. Agnes Hospital and Medical Center in White Plains, New York, and later at the Westchester Medical Center, NY. He also had an active private practice for over 50 years. The rank of Professor Emeritus in Psychology was conferred by Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, where he taught Psychology for 25 years and Chaired the Department of Psychology and was Director of the Counseling Center for many years.

His professional affiliations include the American Psychological Association, the Westchester Psychological Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Honorary Society in Psychology, and the Association of Rehabilitation Facilities of New York State, an organization in which he served as President in 1965-1966.

Dr. Cancro’s published and unpublished papers range from Psychological Disabilities of Cerebral Palsy, Psychotherapeutic Approaches in Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disabilities, to Laterality of Brain Lesion and Intellectual Dysfunction.

Visitation will be held at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC, Eastchester, on Thursday Jan. 14, 2010, from 2-4 & 6-8PM. Funeral Mass, Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe, Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at 10:30AM followed by entombment at the Gate of Heaven cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Dr. Cancro’s name to Melmark New England, 461 River Road, Andover, MA 01810 or www.melmarkne.org.

Carl Rella

May 13, 1940 - January 14, 2010

Carl Rella of Bronxville died on Jan. 14, 2010. Carl was born on May 13, 1940 in New Rochelle to the late Rose and Frank Rella. Carl is survived by his Aunt Esther Stanziale, Aunt and Uncle Frances and Edward Spallone, Uncle Frank Rocco and numerous cousins in the tri-state area. Carl is also survived by his family at the Tuckahoe House group home where he resided the last 15 years. Visiting Sunday from 2-5PM at the Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main St., Eastchester,NY. William T. Hahnau

William T. Hahnau, 84, of Tuckahoe died on Jan. 16, 2010 at his residence. Beloved husband of the late Rose Hahnau, devoted step-father of Dennis Alexion and his wife Susan and Susan Partica and her husband Paul, Cherished grandfather of Christine Dellaratta and her husband John and Mark Alexion and his wife Janice, and Lynn Dayton and her husband Matt and Michael Partica.Dear brother of Dorothy Plemin. Richard A. Davanzo

December 4, 1927 - January 17, 2010

Richard (“Dick”) A. Davanzo, 82, a long time resident of Eastchester, NY died on January 17, 2010. Beloved husband of the late Constance “Connie” Davanzo. Loving father of Richard and his wife Donna , and Ronald and his wife Lisa Davanzo. Dear brother of Norma Oronzio and the late Fay Gotti, Dorothy Curran, Joseph, Raymond, Armando (Gene), Paris (Pat). Loving grandfather of Christopher, Alyssa, and Stephen Davanzo. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Richard proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a 27 year veteran of the Eastchester Fire Dept., serving as a past President of the UPFA, and also as a past trustee of the NY Police and Fire Retiree Association. Richard loved to travel with Connie and friends. Maureen Prezioso

January 1, 1900 - January 13, 2010

Maureen Rita Prezioso, 67, of Scarsdale, died on January 13, 2010. She is survived by her devoted nieces Suzanne Prezioso Bracken (Robert), Marianne Schulz (Joseph) and nephew William Prezioso (Mary Kate). She is also survived by many grandnieces and grandnephews, along with lifelong friend Alice Mary Cella Brady. Maureen was predeceased by her loving parents Winifred and Francis McMullin. She was a proud graduate of Ursuline High School, New Rochelle and went on to work as a flight attendant for TWA, traveling the world for more than 40 years. The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC., EASTCHESTER, Thursday, January 21, 2010, 2-4, 7-9 PM. Peter A. McGregor

August 9, 1928 - January 23, 2010

Peter A McGregor, 81, died Jan. 23 2010. He was born in Edinburgh, Scot land on August 9, 1928 to the late Alexander P. and Elizabeth (Anderson) McGregor. He was instrumental in the development of polysomnography. He was the founder of the ASST (American Association of Sleep Technologist), formerly the APT. He was the world’s first registered sleep technologist and the administrator of sleep-wake disorder center at Montefiore Hospital, Bronx, NY. Peter is survived by his loving wife Barbara(Yatsko) McGregor, his dear children; Kenneth Dean Tucker, Barbara Tucker O’Brochta, Thirsa Ann Paray and Peter McGregor, Jr. and beloved grandchildren Adam Paray and Kimberky Tucker. Family to receive friends at the Westchester Funeral Home,190 Main St. Eastchester, NY on Tuesday Jan. 26 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Eugenia Kenney

May 5, 1920 - January 23, 2010

Kenney, Eugenia (Jeannie), nee Keyes: passed away peacefully on January 23, in Croton On Hudson. Predeceased by her husband, Delford Kenney. She is survived by her nieces and nephews in Canada, Janice, Phyllis, Gordon, John, Peter and Paul. Ms Kenney had a long and interesting career in the airline industry, working as a stewardess both at the original National Airlines, and later at Seaboard World. She and her husband were long time residents of Bronxville. A special thank you to the staff of the Skyview Nursing Home, who gave our aunt such wonderful care.
