Virginia M. McAllister

PHELPS - Virginia M. McAllister, 78, formerly of Phelps, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons.
Calling hours were Sunday, Dec. 29 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 30 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Spring burial will be in Resthaven cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Wayne County Nursing Home, Route 31, Lyons, 14489, or to a charity of one's choice.
Virginia was born Sept. 29, 1924, in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of the late Oscar and Hazel Bassett McAllister. She was a past member of the Phelps Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Beth (Marcial) Garcia of Newark, Stephen (Mary) McAllister of Phelps, Michael McAllister of Lyons, Harold (Jackie) McAllister of Phelps and Bonnie (Clarence) Fagner of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jessica McAllister, Jennifer Garcia, Brandon Garcia, Heather Grace McAllister, Tim and Todd Young, Lynn Russo, Oscar McAllister, Ronald Russo and Alicia Fagner; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; son, David; and grandson, Luis Garcia.

Irene M. Liss

ORLEANS - Irene M. Liss, 86, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2002 after a long illness.
There were no prior calling hours. Friends were invited to attend a memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Mon., Dec. 30 at St. Felix Church in Clifton Springs.
Memorial donations may be contributed to the Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home, Activity Fund, 2 Coulter Rd., Clifton Springs, NY 14432.
Irene was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Orleans, the daughter of Angelo and Mary Fabrizi and was a lifelong resident of Orleans. She owned and operated Irene's Beauty Shoppe for over 50 years and was also a member of St. Felix Church.
She is survived by her son, Gregory Liss; her daughter, Mary Jo (Kevin) Albert; six grandchildren, Roan (Bianca) Ciardi, Tae Ciardi, Jacob Liss, Adam Liss, Jeffery Albert and Christine Albert; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Clementine Fabrizi; her brother, Frank Fabrizi; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Liss; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Liss; her brother, John Fabrizi; and two sisters, Edith Fabrizi and Josephine Warmuth.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.

Blanche D. Krieke

PHELPS - Blanche D. Krieke, 83, of 1850 Spafford Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
There were no prior calling hours. Friends were invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, Dec. 29 at the United Church of Phelps, with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Contributions may be made to the United Church of Phelps, 58 Main St., Phelps, 14532, or to a charity of one's choice.
Mrs. Krieke was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Camden, the daughter of the late Harvey and Harriet Russell Dunn. She was past president of the Wampsville Parent Teacher Association, a member of the Phelps Croquet Club and a member of the United Church of Phelps.
Mrs. Krieke retired from Hubbard Industries in Wampsville with more than 20 years of service. She also worked part-time at Whitson's Pharmacy.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan C. Carney, of Phelps; son, Leslie (Terry) of Ellington, Conn.; son-in-law, James Carney of Sacramento, Calif.; grandchildren, Michelle Dayton of Cheshire, Conn., Robert Schofield of North Hampton, Mass., Kim Schofield of Weston, Conn., Steven (Christine) Carney of California, Jeffrey Carney of Auburn, Wash., and Shawn Carney of Phelps; great-grandchildren, Tesia, Nicholas and Madi of California, and Haely of Washington; a brother-in-law, Homer Dale of Camden; sister-in-law and brother-on-law, Virginia and Harold Root of Winston Salem, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edmund, who died in 1996; brothers, James, Lawrence and Walter Dunn; and sisters, Mabel Dale, Ella Strail and Jennie Armstrong.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.

Arthur P. "Pat" Day

PHELPS - Arthur P. "Pat" Day, 59, of 638 Fisher Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002 at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Friends called Saturday, Dec. 28 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps, and Sunday at the Clifton Springs Methodist Church. A Masonic Service was held at 2pm, followed by funeral services with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery in Oaks Corners.
Memorial contributions may be made to Garoga-Sincerity Lodge 200, 67 Ontario St., Phelps, 14532, or to a charity of one's choice.
Mr. Day was born Sept. 21, 1943, in Geneva, the son of the late Clifford and Irene Logan Day. He retired from Garlock Sealing Technologies in Palmyra with over 35 years of service. He had worked for Phelps Cement Products and was a courier for the Ontario National Bank.
Mr. Day was a member of the Garoga-Sincerity Lodge 200 F&AM;, where he was a Right Worshipful and past Master, and was Grand Director of Ceremonies from 1994 to 1996. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Royal Garoga 425 where he was a past and present patron. He was also a member of Damascus Temple and was a life member of Ontario-Seneca-Yates Masonic Charities.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Jean Goodall Day; brothers, Thomas W. Day of Phelps, Francis E. (Rita) Day of Phelps, Clifford J. Jr. (Anna) Day of New Holland, Pa., Bernard M. (Nancy) Day of Lancaster, Pa., and Michael R. (Sharon) Day of Phelps; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Howard (Helen) Goodall of Manchester, Kenneth (Betty) Goodall of Sterling, Judy (Phil) Kneut of Clifton Springs, Betty (Gary) Steurrys of Clifton Springs and Diane (Robert) Smith of Phelps; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends.

Edward Joseph Babiarz

PHELPS - Edward Joseph Babiarz, 87, of 4 Needham Ave., died Saturday, December 28, 2002 after a brief illness.
Calling hours were Wed., Jan. 1, 2003 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Thursday, Jan 2 at St. Francis Church in Phelps. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, 14432 or to the Salvation Army.
Mr. Babiarz was a Navy veteran of 10 years and served during World War II. He owned and operated the County Inn in Phelps for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion for 56 years, a member of the Geneva VFW, and was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Phelps.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susana; two sons, Peter of Williamsville and Paul of Liverpool; a daughter, Elaine Harrison of Holden, Mass.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Emil of Canandaigua and John of Ocala, Fla.; and a sister, Lottie Swietoniowski of Auburn.
He was predeceased by his brother, Edmund, of Weedsport.

Frances Marie Wetmore

PENN YAN - Frances Marie Wetmore, 95, of Penn Yan, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002 at the Geneva Living Center North.
Friends called Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Weldon Funeral Home. Funeral services were Sunday, Dec. 22 at the Second Milo Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Busch officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the House of John, Clifton Springs, 14432, or to the Penn Yan Ambulance Corps.
Frances was born July 29, 1907, in Milo Center, the daughter of Sidney John and Elizabeth Hause Seager. She was a seamstress, retiring in 1969 from Michael Sterns in Penn Yan after 20 years.
Frances attended the Milo Center Country School and was a member of the Milo Center Methodist Church. She also attended the Second MIlo Baptist Church and was a member of the Penn Yan American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, William Chris (Janice) Larsen of Clifton Springs; daughters, Elizabeth (Clark) Switzer of Milo Center and Doris Larsen Davie of Geneva; stepdaughters, Lillian Gelder, Jane Wetmore, Shirley Rider, Kay Deisenroth, Barbara Fredericksen and Louise Finger; brother-in-law, John Larsen; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Kjar, Jennie Peterman and Helen Cross; an abundance of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husbands, William R. Larsen, Milford Daines and Thomas Wetmore; son, Carl S. Larsen; son-in-law, Edward Davie; sisters, Grace Seager, Alice Wayand and Nellie Mortensen; brothers, Edward, Harold and Harry Seager; stepsons, Thomas and Robert Wetmore; stepdaughters, Iva Detberner and Betty Parano; sisters-in-law, Hazel Friskie, Elsie Jensen and Ruth Kelly.

Eliza Fritz Schillhour

CANANDAIGUA - Eliza Fritz Schillhour, 87, of Tillotson Street, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at the F.F. Thompson Continuing Care Center.
There were no prior calling hours. A memorial service to celebrate her life was Friday, Dec. 20 at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home in Canandaigua. Interment will be in Sand Hill cemetery in the town of Seneca.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road North, Rochester, 14609-5896.
Mrs. Schillhour retired from Elm Manor Nursing Home in Canandaigua after 12 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and liked doing crafts.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Benjamin V. Schillhour; one daughter, Margaret (Walter) Mattoon of Clifton Springs; three sons, Edward "Sonny" (Pauline) McCormick of Geneva and Fred (Hazel) McCormick Sr. and Harry (Marty) McCormick both of Canandaigua; 21 grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her children, Douglas McCormick, Sheila McCormick, Mary "Molly" Davis and Rosalie Battan.

Harold E. Hayes

LODI - Harold E. Hayes, 71, of 1526 Caywood Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at Geneva General Hospital.
Calling hours were held Friday, Dec. 19 at Covert Funeral Homes, Main Street in Ovid. A funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 20 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tony Roberts, pastor of the Ovid Federated Church, officiating. Burial will be in West Lodi cemetery.
Harold was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Lodi, a son of the late John and Gladys Conklin Hayes and graduated from Ovid High School. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict and had been a lifetime resident of Lodi. He was known as an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. Harold will be fondly remembered as an avid gardener and NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Westervelt; daughters, Terry (George) Swartout of Maryland, and their children, Carrie, Matt and Joey; Connie (John) Wrend of Virginia and their children, Ben and Michael; Cindy Xavier of Waterloo and her children, Adam, Eric, and Kristen; and Sandy (Tom) Dunn) of Phelps and their daughter, Bonnie; a son, Mickey (Lori) Hayes of Florida and their children, Dillon and Jessalyn; brothers, Harry (Roberta) Hayes of Lodi and Don (Cheryl) Hayes of Maryland; and sisters, Betty Austin of Ithaca, and Mildred Murinchak of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicky Becker in 1993; and his siblings, John, Helen, Ellen, Dave, Dick, Frank, Jerry and Shirley.

Richard G. Biesenbach

GENEVA - Richard G. Biesenbach, 65, of 5259 Old Lake Road, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002 in Geneva General Hospital.
Friends called Sunday, Dec. 22 at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home in Geneva. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 23 at 9:30am at the funeral home and at 10am in St. Stephen's Church. Burial will be in Glenwood cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Lake Road Fire Department.
Richard was born in Rochester and had been a resident of Geneva for many years. He was a graduate of DeSales High School, Class of 1955, and was retired from the town of Geneva, following over 20 years of service.
Richard was a member of the West Lake Road Fire Department, the Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club and was a member of St. Stephen's Church.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Hooper Biesenbach; his daughter, Kathryn (Randy) Phillips of Penn Yan; his son, Thomas (Robyn) Biesenbach of Phelps; five grandchildren, Ryan and Adam Biesenbach and Justin, Brady and Colin Phillips; one brother, Donald (Christa) Biesenbach of Geneva; his sister Joan Iredale of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine Jane Kamm

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Catherine Jane Kamm, 81, entered into eternal glory Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002.
In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Kamm was cremated; the family will observe a private committal service at a later date. Her family extends an invitation to a memorial service celebrating Catherine's life and ministry Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Spa Apartments Chapel, 11 E. Main St., in Clifton Springs.
The family asks that contributions in her memory be directed to the Catherine J. Kamm Memorial Scholarship for Vocal Music, c/o Finger Lakes Community College, 4355 Lakeshore Drive, Canandaigua, 14424 or to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 1 Prospect St., Clifton Springs, 14424.
Cathy taught vocal music at Finger Lakes Community College for 25 years, and continued to give voice lessons to many individuals who came to study in her home. Her love of music and her passion for teaching were evident in every aspect of her living.
She will be tremendously missed by her family, her church family, her many friends and her students.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, the Rev. Albert H. Kamm, of Clifton Springs; daughter, the Rev. Deborah J. Kamm, of Manchester Center, Vt.; son, Michael M. (Kelli) Kamm of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Kamm of Geneva; seven grandchildren, Gnon Choi, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Michael Jr., Katherine, Anthony and Christopher; great-granddaughter, Serena; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother, Robert; and her son, Jeffrey A.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.
