ALEXANDER BUS BALDWIN

LYONS/PHELPS - Alexander bus Baldwin, 87, formerly of Bohner Road in Phelps, died Monday (June 30, 2003) in Amherst, Mass.
There were no prior calling hours. A private funeral service was held on Saturday (July 5) at Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St. in Lyons, with the Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel officiating. Burial will be in South Lyons cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Nature Conservancy, 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203-9869.
Bus was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Sayre, PA, the son of Gilbert and Pearl Hausnecht Baldwin. He managed convenience stores for Connie Cosgrove in Newark for many years. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy. He moved to Massachusetts to be near his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Baldwin of Greenfield, Mass., and Kathy Baldwin of Homer, Alaska; a brother, Thomas of Massachusetts; a sister, Betty Bender of Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Ardy, in April of 1995.

Louise Blanch

LYONS - Louise Blanch, 88, died Sunday, July 6, 2003 at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
Friends called Tuesday, July 8 at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home in Lyons. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, July 9 at St. Michael's Church, with the Rev. Edward Dillon celebrating. Burial followed in the South Lyons cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Michael's Church, 3 Holly St., Lyons, 14489.
Mrs. Blanch was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Clyde, the daughter of Rocco and Angeline Jammerino DiSanto. She had worked for 20 years for National Biscuit Co. in Lyons before they closed. She then worked as a nurse's aide at the Wayne County Nursing Home for another 20 years until her retirement. Louise was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. She was also a member of the Golden Agers.
Louise was the caregiver of the family and a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by a son, Arthur (Gilda) Blanch; two daughters, Barbara (Richard) Smith and Judy (James) Tuck, all of Lyons; six grandchildren, David, Richard, Darcy, Denna, Tracy and Debra; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry (Angie) DiSanto of Clyde; three sisters, Emma Quataro of Shortsville, Lucy Ubergo of Newark and Florence Kowalczyk of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, in 1991; a granddaughter, Kim Heidenreich; sisters, Alice Bennett and Mamie DeAugustine; and brothers, Joseph Blanch and Rocco Blanch.

Christina L. Main

PHELPS - Christina L. Main, 82, of 220 Main St., died Monday, July 7, 2003 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Friends called Wednesday, July 9 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Thursday, July 10 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Phelps. The Rev. Anthony Calimeri celebrated. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery in Phelps.
Contributions may be made to the Phelps Volunteer Ambulance, 7 Exchange St., Phelps, 14532 or Masses may be offered.
Mrs. Main was born May 16, 1921, in Murraytown, Pa., the daughter of the late Henry and Katherine Cahill Palmer. She was a member of St. Francis Church and the Phelps Golden Agers.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clinton J. Main, of Phelps; three sons, Michael (Sheri) Main of Elmira Heights, John J. (Rita) Main of Newark and Paul (Jackie) Main of Newark; grandchildren, Victoria, Christopher, Cody, Ethan and Kendall; sister, Kathryn Palmer of Elmira; brother, Francis Palmer of Elmira; sister-in-law, Madeline Palmer of Elmira; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother, James Palmer.

Omer J. "Joe" Couillard

GORHAM - Omer J. "Joe" Couillard, 65, of County Road 24 in Stanley, died Friday, June 20, 2003 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan.
Friends called Thursday, June 26 at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. Funeral services were Friday, June 27 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Arthur Becker officiating. Burial will be in Shuman cemetery in the town of Potter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, Finger Lakes Region Inc., 1595 Elmwood Ave. Rochester, 14620; or to the Region 19, New York Special Olympics, P.O. Box 857, Canandaigua, 14424.
Joe was born July 2, 1937 in Boston. He owned and operated his own auto body shop in Gorham for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Diane "Becky" Couillard; eight children, Joseph (Laura) Couillard of Monks Corners, S.C., Edward (Julie) Dodge of Phoenix, Clifford (Alice) Dodge of Williamson, Michael Couillard of Florida, Jason (Dana) Dodge of Clarksville, Tenn., Renee (Kenneth) Boyer of Colorado Springs, Colo., John (Hazelle) Couillard of Phelps and Christopher (Erin) Couillard of Gilbert, Ariz.; eight grandsons; two sisters, Dorothy Orlandi and Alice Mascarelli, both of Massachusetts; one brother-in-law, Arthur Becker; longtime friends, Larry and Kathy Bacher of Penn Yan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Spencer David Dodge, who died Feb. 16, 1995.

Doris A. Thoms Falkey

PHELPS - Mrs. Doris A. Thoms Falkey, 85, of 144 W. Main St., Apt. 110, died Thursday, June 19, 2003 in the Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waterloo.
Friends called Monday, June 23 at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service was Tuesday, June 24 at the funeral home. The Rev. William Reigle, pastor of the Phelps Baptist Church and the Rev. Carlton Carpenter, a retired Baptist minister, officiated. Burial will be in the Rest Haven cemetery in Phelps.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Phelps Baptist Church or CBI International, 1501 W. Mineral Ave., Littleton, CO 80120-5612, for the Gary Gilbert family mission.
Doris was born March 27, 1918, in Phelps, the daughter of Albert J. and Viola M. Tyler Goodman. She was a lifelong Finger Lakes resident. Earlier in her life, she was a member of the Waterloo Baptist Church, where she volunteered as the church secretary for 20 years and for many years was a Sunday school teacher. After moving to Phelps, she attended the Phelps Baptist Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts and also taught ceramics for many years.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roberta (Armin) Winters of Waterloo; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence "Peg" (Henry) Dickenson of Clifton Springs and Sue Schauppenahuer of Shortsville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert E. Thoms; her second husband, Lynn Falkey; and one daughter, Viola Jean Thoms.

Paul C. Maslyn

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Paul C. Maslyn, 86, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home.
Friends called Wednesday, June 25 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. Funeral services were Thursday, June 26 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Felix Church in Clifton Springs. The Rev. Edward Dillon officiated. Interment will be in St. Agnes cemetery in Clifton Springs.
Friends may contribute in Paul's memory to the American Heart Fund or the Clifton Springs Fire Department.
Paul was born in Clifton Springs, the son of Sylvia and Peter Maslyn, and had lived in the area all of his life. He owned and operated his own farm on Pearl Street Extension until his retirement in 1982. Paul was a member of Farm Bureau, Ontario County Cooperative Extension and a lifetime active member of St. Felix Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jane Lindner Maslyn; children, Stephen (Julie) Maslyn of Phelps, Susan (Alfred) Cooper of Potter, Thomas (Sindy) Maslyn of Clifton Springs, George (Judy) Maslyn of Clifton Springs, Peter (Kathy) Maslyn of Clifton Springs, Paul (Sylvia) Maslyn of Clifton Springs, Michael (Lori) Maslyn of Shortsville, Christopher Maslyn of Seneca Castle, Teresa (William) Rodgers of Phelps and Mary (William) Bair of Arcadia, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; and soon to be two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Sylvia; son, Daniel; and brother, James.

Louise M. Scherbyn

WATERLOO - Mrs. Louise M. Scherbyn, formerly of 360 E. Main St., died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 in the Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home.
In keeping with Louise's wishes, there were no calling hours. The funeral service was Monday, June 23 at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The Rev. Dr. Peter Crego, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Seneca Falls, officiated. Burial will be in the Maple Grove cemetery in Waterloo.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of one's choice.
Louise was born in Waterloo, the daughter of William F. and Margaretha Saltzman Menzer. She was a lifelong resident of Waterloo and was best known for her love of motorcycles. She founded, in 1950, the Women's International Motorcycle Association and served as president of the association for 25 years.
She is survived by one nephew, William (Evelyn) Scherbyn of Phelps; three nieces, Virginia Richardson of Parma, Ohio; Geraldine Carroll of Clifton Springs and Dotti Cooper of Newark.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Scherbyn, who died Sept. 6, 1974.

Victoria Hessney DiBona

MANCHESTER - Victoria Hessney DiBona, 73, died Thursday, July 10, 2003 after a long illness.
Friends called Sunday, July 13 at the Halstead-Patrick Funeral Home in Manchester. A funeral Mass was held Monday, July 14 at St. Dominic Church in Shortsville
Donations in Victoria's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 25 Beeman St., P.O. Box 208, Canandaigua, 14424.
Victoria was born Feb. 8, 1930, in Manchester, the daughter of Abbott and Frieda Hessney. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester and was an active member of the local Democratic party.
She is survived by one son, David (Jean) Frasca of Phelps; two sisters, Mary Ann Malark and Jennie Agosto, both of Manchester; two brothers, Joseph (Doris) Hessney of Geneva and Isaac (Dorothy) Hessney of Manchester; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara L. LaVancher Dresser

OVID - Barbara L. LaVancher, Dresser, 37, of 2118 Water St., went home to be with God, Monday, July 14, 2003, after a long and valiant struggle with cancer.
Calling hours were Thursday, July 17 at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid. A graveside service was Friday, July 18 in Union cemetery in Ovid.

Barb was born Oct. 29, 1965, in Blossburg, Pa., a daughter of John and Cheryl Wilcox LaVancher. She held a lifetime devotion to her children and family, choosing to be a stay-at-home mom, and for more than 10 years provided child care in her home for many parents in the community.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff; her daughters, Jessica, Katlyn, Kailani and Carin; her parents, John LaVancher of Tioga, Pa., and Cheryl LaVancher of Ovid; her sisters, Becky (Mike) Potts of Interlaken and Jen (Gary) Palmer of Ovid; a brother, Robert LaVancher of Clifton Springs; her nephews; her mother-in-law, Esther Dresser of Lodi; and her husband's family.

Carol D. Kuhlman

LYONS - Carol Diane Kuhlman, 45, of Lembke Road, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Family and friends called Saturday, July 19 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home in Newark. A funeral service followed Saturday at the funeral home.
In memory of Carol, contributions may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, 14489 or to Newark Wayne Hospital Auxiliary, P.O. Box 111, Newark, 14513.
Carol was born Aug. 7, 1957, in Newark the daughter of Russell and Yvonne Miller Kuhlman. She worked at Newark-Wayne Hospital for 27 years as a licensed practical nurse. Carol enjoyed reading, playing the Lottery and animals. She will be missed by her favorite pets, Crystal and Cocoa.
She will be missed by her sisters, Lori (David) Kuhlman-Horton of Phelps, and Kimberly Kuhlman and her friend, Dale McNeilly, of Savannah; brother, Thomas (Barbara) Kuhlman of Newark; nephews, Jason W. Allen, Klint E. Kuhlman, Thor R. Baker, Cree C. Baker, Heath D. Baker, Dean A. DeSain and a special nephew, Michael A. DeSain; great-nephew, Kody M. DeSain; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carol was predeceased by her father, Russell, on May 23, 1987; mother, Yvonne, on Sept. 13, 2001; and sister, Debra Baker, on Aug. 14, 1996.

David B. Tyman

PHELPS - David B. Tyman, 49, of Boston, Mass., died Friday, July 11, 2003 at the Pines of Peace in Ontario, as a result of lung cancer.
Friends called Sunday, July 13 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, July 14 in St. Francis Church. Interment will be in St. Francis cemetery at the convenience of the family.
It is suggested that contributions be made to the Pines of Peace, P.O. Box 238, 2378 Ridge Rd., Ontario, 14519.
David was born May 2, 1954 in Clifton Springs, the son of the late Raymond and Betty Chase Tyman. He was a 1972 graduate of Midlakes High School and graduated from the University of Rochester as an X-ray technician.
David worked at Strong Memorial Hospital for 14 years prior to moving to Boston where he worked for Brigham and woman's hospital for the last 16 years.
David will be sadly missed by his friends and co-workers in Boston and Rochester.
He is survived by three brothers, Mark Tyman of Sodus Point, Scot (Michele) Tyman of Phelps and the Rev. Gary Tyman of Rochester; nephew Scot Tyman and nieces, Carrie and Hannah Tyman, all of Phelps.
