Rosemary Simpson

PHELPS - Rosemary Simpson, 75, died Saturday, July 19, 2003 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home in Clifton Springs.
Friends called Thursday, July 24 at the Doran Funeral Home in Seneca Falls. Funeral services were Friday, July 25 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Martha Forisha, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church of Seneca Falls, officiating. Burial will be in Restvale cemetery in Seneca Falls.
Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 100 Northern Concourse, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, 13220-3049.
Rosemary was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Seneca Falls, the daughter of the late Arthur and Audrey Meeks Scharett. She had resided in Phelps for most of her life. She owned and operated Rosemary's Diner in Phelps for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Audrey Smith of Newark; five grandchildren, Judy (Todd) Murphy, Patty (Jason) Colegrove, Rose (Jeff) Barnhart, William (Melissa Soback) Reed, and Kenneth (Melissa) Mason; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Mancuso of Scranton, Pa., and Dorothy Kieffer of Lodi; five brothers, Charles Scharett of Dallas, Frank (Bernice) Scharett of Waterloo, William (Cindy) Scharett of Tennessee, Joseph (Luzanne) Scharett of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Donald Scharett of Lodi; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Norman Caster, who died in 1952; one sister, Marion Sachs; and one brother, John Scharett.

Sgt. Heath A. McMillin

CANANDAIGUA/CLIFTON SPRINGS - Sgt. Heath A. McMillin, 29, a beloved husband, son, father and friend, was killed Sunday, July 27, 2003 while honoring and serving his country in Iraq.
Friends called Saturday, Aug. 2 and Sunday, Aug. 3 at Halsted-Patrick Funeral Home in Manchester. A Funeral Mass was Monday, Aug. 4 at St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua. Interment was in St. Rose cemetery in Shortsville.
Donations in Heath's memory may be made to the family for a memorial fund to be set up for the children.
Heath was born May 24, 1974, in Clifton Springs, the son of Mark and Etta McMillin. He was a graduate of Midlakes High School, Class of 1993. He served four years active duty in the Marine Corps and four years in the Army National Guard. He was due to be discharged from the Army National Guard in March 2003, but was activated Feb. 14 for deployment to Iraq.
Heath and Kelley were married Feb. 9, 2003, five days before deployment, and had plans to renew their vows at St. Dominic Church in the spring of 2004, after his return home.
He is survived by his wife, Kelley Crowley McMillin; his three children, Michael McMillin, Mary McMillin of Phelps and Robert McMillin of California; his parents, Mark and Debbie McMillin of Clifton Springs and Etta K. (Ray Croteau) LaMott of Maine; his grandparents, Donna and Bud Woodhams of Manchester, and Jackie VanderWerf of Clifton Springs; his in-laws, Francis and Sally Crowley of Farmington; his siblings, John (Shirley) McMillin of Lyons, Jason (Laura) McMillin of Clifton Springs, Jennifer McMillin of Rochester and Cassie (Paul) Sabatino; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim (Sarah) Crowley of Shortsville, Dan (Bonnie) Crowley of Michigan, Amy (Tim) Martin of Colorado and Carrie (Steven) Giambra of Rochester; nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

Robert L. Schreiber

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Robert L. Schreiber, 75, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home.
Friends were invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, Aug. 8 at the Spa Apartments Chapel in Clifton Springs with the Rev. Albert Kamm officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Agnes cemetery.
Donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Spa Apartments Activity Fund.
Bob was born March 4, 1928, in Buffalo, the son of Edward and Amelia Schreiber and had lived in Clifton Springs for over 45 years. He served with the Army in Korea and retired from the maintenance department of Clifton Springs Hospital. Bob enjoyed bowling and was an avid Buffalo Bisons and Cleveland Indians fan.
He is survived by three brothers, Francis (Ann) Schreiber of Buffalo, Brother Albert Schreiber of the Redemptorist Order in Brooklyn, and Paul Schreiber of Buffalo; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.

Ruth Fluent Bulkley

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Ruth Fluent Bulkley, most recently of Clifton Springs and a longtime resident of Savona and Boonville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 10am on Saturday, Aug. 23 in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 33 Church St. in Savona. Interment will be in Bath National cemetery at the convenience of the family.
A member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newark, Ruth had also been a faithful and devoted member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Savona.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, and was committed to her family and her faith.
She is survived by her daughters, Ruth (David) Fitch of Geneva, Kathryn (James) Bedette of Canandaigua; sons, Neil F. Bulkley of Corning, Frederick (Billie VanNeil) Bulkley of Pulteney; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Sims of Watkins Glen and Beatrice Wells of Bath; aunt, Mildred Higbie of Savona; and niece; three nephews; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Warden L. Bulkley, in 1998; and her sister, Dorothy Johnston.

Dorothy A. Farnsworth

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Dorothy a. Farnsworth, 95, of Dewey Avenue, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003.
Friends called Tuesday, Aug. 12 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the funeral home with the Rev. Douglas Allen, of the Canandaigua Baptist Church, officiating.
Friends may contribute in Dorothy's memory to the Ontario County Humane Society.
Dorothy was born Feb. 3, 1908, in Shortsville, the daughter of Arthur and Alice Bounds and had lived in the area all of her life. Dorothy was an airplane spotter for Ontario County during World War II. She enjoyed gardening, entertaining and cooking for her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Robert) Mays of Sheldon, Vt.; eight grandchildren, Kim, Joette, Lisa and Jill Smith and Shawn, Heather, Rodney and Kevin Mays; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bud, in 1979; and daughter, Elaine Smith in 2000.

Jacob M. McDonald

GENEVA - Jacob M. McDonald, 19, of 1893 Nine Foot Road, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003.
Friends called Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the Palmisano Funeral Home. Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 14 at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery in Moravia.
Jacob was born Aug. 30, 1983, the son of Mark McDonald and Sharon Caster Williams. He was very active in Boy Scouting Adventurers in Phelps.
He is survived by his father, Mark of Waterloo; his mother, Sharon (John) Williams of Texas; his sister, Katrina McDonald of Texas; paternal grandmother, Beryl McDonald of Waterloo; maternal grandparents, Gerald (Ann) Caster of Phelps/Texas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Frank H. McDonald.

Cole Hartford Stevenson

PHELPS - Cole Hartford Stevenson, infant son of Mark and Jill Young Stevenson, died Aug. 5, 2003, and is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
Friends attended a memorial service for Cole on Saturday, Aug. 9 at the United Church of Phelps, with the Rev. David Herrmann officiating.
Contributions may be made to the SIDS Alliance, 1314 Bedford Ave., Suite 210, Baltimore, Md., 21208.
Cole was born May 24, 2003 at Geneva General Hospital.
He is survived by his parents; maternal grandparents, William and Bonnie Youngs; maternal great-grandparents, Lia Newkirk, Donnie Spencer and Floria Youngs; paternal grandparents, Duncan Stevenson, and Jerry and Jean Lipsius; paternal great-grandmother, Ginny Ireland; maternal uncles, Mike and Robert Youngs; paternal uncle, Todd (Darcy) Stevenson; paternal aunt, Jennifer Lipsius; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and great-cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.

James C. Fagner

CANANDAIGUA - James C. Fagner, 46, of Greg Terrace, loving son and father, passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2003 at Thompson Hospital.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Fuller Funeral Home, in Canandaigua. Burial will be in Phelps cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sands Cancer Center or Camp Good Days and Special Times.
James was born in Canandaigua and was a lifelong resident of Canandaigua. He had been employed by Canandaigua Wine for the past 9 years.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Jane Fagner, of Canandaigua; sister, Betty (Stephen) Schmidt of Penfield; brothers, Sam (Laila Busby) Fagner of Hopewell and Lewis (Lori) Fagner of Shortsville; nieces and nephews, Ken and Sarah Jackson of Rushville, Sarah Jackson of Canandaigua, and Jennifer and Victoria Tillack of Shortsville; aunts and uncles; special great-aunt, Vera Campbell; and several close friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Herman Fagner.

Albert F. LaShier

PENN YAN - Albert F. LaShier, 85, of 4031 Bath Road, died Thursday, Aug., 14 2003 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital.
Friends called Monday, Aug. 18 at the Weldon Funeral Home in Penn Yan. Funeral services followed at the funeral home. Burial will be in Whitehaven cemetery in Rochester.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
Albert was born March 21, 1918, in Binghamton, the son of Frederick and Minnie Butler LaShier. He was a salesman for RCA Whirlpool with Morris Distributing in Rochester.
Mr. LaShier was a devoted husband, and a loving and caring father, who loved his home in the country. He was also an avid hunter and liked boating.
Mr. LaShier served with the Army Air Corps during World War II as a bomber in a B17. He was shot down over Germany in 1944 and was a prisoner of war for 18 months. He served his country with courage and conviction..
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie; sons, Albert F. Jr. of Manchester, Steven E. of Canandaigua and Richard D. (Gloria) of Baltimore, Md.; daughter, Cynthia (Henry) McGovern of Plattsburg; grandchildren, Corey, Richard Jr., Thomas, Patrick and Paul; two nephews; and one niece.

Edna Hazell Reese

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Edna Hazell Reese, 96, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at the Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home.
Friends called at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, in Clifton Springs, with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Interment will be in Pioneer cemetery.
Donations in Edna's memory may be made to the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, Noah Fund or the Spa Apartments Activity Fund.
Edna was born May 5, 1907, in Flint, the daughter of Frank and Lena Brown, and had lived in the area all of her life. She had made the Spa Apartments her home for the last 25 years. Edna was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Clifton Springs Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah's.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Dorothy) Hazell of Manchester; daughter, Audrey Smith of Titusville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Darwin Reese; and one son, William Hazell.
