Henry J. Dickinson

CLIFTON SPRINGS/PHELPS - Mr. Henry J. Dickinson, 94, of 11 E. Main St., Clifton Springs, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 at the Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home.
Friends called Friday, Feb. 20 at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service was Saturday, Feb. 21 at the funeral home with the Rev. William Reigle, pastor of the Phelps Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. John Seefried, chaplain at the Spa Apartments. Spring interment will be in Rest Haven cemetery in Phelps.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Phelps Baptist Church, 28 Church St., Phelps 14532.
Henry was born Jan. 19, 1910, in Clyde, the son of John and Nellie S. Malchoff Dickinson. Henry operated his family's farm in Clyde for many years. He was employed at the Empire State Pickling Co. in Phelps as fleet superintendent and later retired from Phelps Electric. He was a resident of Phelps for 40 years and then Clifton Springs for 25 years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer who also enjoyed traveling. He was an associate member of the Phelps Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Florence "Peg" E. Dickinson of Clifton Springs; and several cousins.

Emma I. Edington

WATERLOO/PHELPS - Mrs. Emma I. Edington, 89, of 369 E. Main St., died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 in the Huntington Living Center.
Friends called on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service was Sunday, Feb. 15 at the funeral home with the Rev. Phil Tennies, chaplain of the Huntington Living Center, officiating. Spring interment will be in Oaklawn cemetery in Oaks Corners.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Emma was born Dec. 26, 1914, in Waterloo, the daughter of Andrew and Alice L. Estes Bishop She was a former employee of Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls.
She is survived by one son, Robert (Mabel) Bishop of Waterloo; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Doris) Rayburn of Rochester; two stepsons, Ronald Edington and John (Nancy) Edington of Phelps; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Walter (Mary) Hauf of Waterloo, Mrs. Alice Young of Waterloo, Mrs. Paul (Velma) Avveduti of Seneca Falls, Mrs. Thelma Kelsey of Waterloo, and Gladys DelPapa of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Edington, who died Dec. 22, 1985; two brothers, Richard and Joseph DelPapa; and three sisters, Annabelle DelPapa, Clara Bishop and Helen Erway.

Barbara A. Eggleston, RN

NEWARK - Barbara Ann Eggleston, RN, 64, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Family and friends attended a memorial service on Friday, Feb. 20 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home in Newark.

Barb was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Rochester, the daughter of the late Walter R. and Anne B. Mileski Kreger. She had worked for Genesee Hospital for several years and recently at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Canandaigua as a nurse. Barb was a past bowler and enjoyed gardening, reading and had a special love for animals.
She will be missed by her daughters, Susan Eggleston of Florida, Deanna (Terry) Crooks of Newark, and Wendy (Michael) McDermott of Clifton Springs; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Matthew Kreger of California; sister Susanne (Douglas) Heath of Scottsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert W. Gittens Jr.

PHELPS - Robert W. Gittens Jr., 56, of Hayes Road, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 with his loving family by his side.
Friends were invited to call Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the Eacker Funeral Home in Phelps. A funeral service to celebrate his life was Thursday, Feb. 19 at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Oak Lawn cemetery.
Friends may contribute, in Bob's memory, to the Finger Lakes Community Cancer Center in Clifton Springs.
Bob was born Sept. 24, 1947, in Cortland, and had lived in the Phelps area all of his life. He retired from Goulds Pumps after service as a security guard. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, award winning artist and woodcarver. He was happiest helping friends and family while passing on his life knowledge to those closest to him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gail; sons, William Gittens of Waterloo and James Gittens of Corning; a daughter, Catherine Dietschler of Lyons; his parents, Robert and Mary Gittens; three brothers, William Clyde Gittens of Johnson City, Steve Gittens of Lyons and Jack John Gittens of Geneva; two sisters, Susan Goodman of Waterloo and Jean (Jim) George of Hammondsport; eight grandchildren; many adopted children and grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary "Eleanor" Lapresi

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Mary "Eleanor" Lapresi, 79, of West Main St., passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 with her loving family by her side.
Friends called Tuesday, Feb. 17 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday, Feb. 18 at St. Felix Church in Clifton Springs. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Agnes cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ontario-Yates Hospice.
Eleanor was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Newark, the daughter of Joseph and Mary V. Bramante. She was a lifelong resident of Clifton Springs, where she raised her family. Eleanor and her husband, Francis, were known by many for selling flowers in the summer and Christmas trees during the winter at their home in Clifton Springs. She was a loving wife to her husband, Francis, and devoted mother to her sons, Frank and Dominic.
She is survived by her sons, Frank Lapresi of Clifton Springs and Dominic Lapresi of Rochester; a brother, Donald Bramante of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Lorraine Austin of Newark; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis D. Lapresi, in 2000.

Eleanor "Elly" Ruth Seager

CLIFTON SPRINGS/WATERLOO - Eleanor "Elly" Ruth Seager, 79, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 at the Huntington Living Center Special Needs Unit.
Friends called Feb. 15 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Feb. 16 at St. Francis Church in Phelps. Spring interment will be in St. Agnes cemetery in Clifton Springs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chad R. Pappert Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Kathy and Robert Pappert, 12 Silver St., Clifton Springs, 14432.
Elly was born July 20, 1924, in Boston, Mass. The daughter of Joseph and Anna Henkel Vogel. She worked for the John Hancock Insurance Co. of Boston.
During World War II she met Harold Seager, whom she married Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947.
After moving from Boston to Penn Yan and then to Phelps, Elly cared for her growing family while enjoying the community life of Phelps and Clifton Springs. Elly was a member of the St. Felix-St. Francis Catholic community.
She was also a Buffalo Bills fan and an avid NASCAR fan.
She is survived by children, Elaine (Alan) Canne of Clifton Springs, Marilyn (Al) McDougal of Waterloo, Ronald Seager of Palmyra, Joseph (Johanna) Seager of Midlothian, Va.; Steven (Nataliya) Seager of Crofton, Md.; and Kathleen (Robert) Pappert of Clifton Springs; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Ernestine (Jim Swingle) Gaylor of Penn Yan; and brother-in-law, Charles (LaJean) Seager of Rupert, Idaho.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold, who died Oct. 14, 1983; her grandson, Chad Pappert; and her sister, Marie Vogel.

Paul B. VanDeMortel

PHELPS -Paul B. VanDeMortel, 86, of 1555 State Route 488, died peacefully Monday, Feb. 16, 2004 at the House of John in Clifton Springs.
Friends called Thursday, Feb. 19 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 20 at the United Church of Phelps with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven cemetery in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, 14432.
Paul was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Phelps, the son of Benjamin and Mary VandeMortel. He graduated from Clifton Springs High School and the Navy School of Music in Washington, D.C. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Paul was a rural mail carrier for many years after retiring from the Navy, then retired from the Untied States Post Office in 1973. A lifelong musician, Paul played the tuba and string bass in the Navy and then string bass in a local group, "The Hi-Fi Four" for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Donald (Ruth) Wilson; and John (Mary) Wilson, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and very special friends, Wendy and Sean Cowan and their children.

Lewis E. Bidleman

NEWARK - Lewis E. Bidleman, 74, of Newark, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 at the Wayne County Nursing Home after a long illness.
There were no prior calling hours. Memorial services will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Wayne County, 1475 County House Road, Lyons, 14489.
Lew was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Lyndonville, son of Donald and Paulina Porter Bidleman. He was a mechanic for the state Transportation department for 17 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a past exalted ruler for Newark Elks Lodge 1249. He was an Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War. He as a member of August Mauer American Legion Post 286.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Wilma Campbell Bidleman; one son, Will of Clifton Springs; one daughter, Cindi Massi of Pasadena, Md.; one grandson, Tony Massi of North Hollywood, Calif.; two brothers, Porter of Altamont and Roger of Vero Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law, Bernard Campbell of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, George.

Nancy Drinkwater

NEWARK - Nancy Drinkwater, 68, of South Main St., died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Friends called Friday, Feb. 20 at the Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home in Newark. A funeral Mass was held Saturday, Feb. 21 at St. Michael's Church in Newark. Spring burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery in Oaks Corners.
Memorials may be made to Genesee Region Home Health Care, 513 W. Union St., Newark, 14513.
Nancy was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Newark, the daughter of Anthony and Mary Mazzeneca Pellicano. She retired from Acme Markets in Canandaigua, and was a health aide at the Ontario County health facility. She was a senior companion for Newark Developmental Center and a member of St. Michael's Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Lori (Chris) Robson of Waterloo; three sons, Leo V. Pickard Jr. of Geneva, Paul Pickard of Clifton Springs, and Michael (Patricia) Pickard of Liverpool; one brother, Angelo (Alice) Pellicano of Lyons; nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and her devoted and loving companion, Donald Nicoletta of Newark.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Sherri Ann Gage, in 1986; three brothers, Angelo "Pepsi", Louis and Peter; and three sisters, Theresa, Concetta and Grace.

Harold K. Lyon

NEWARK - Harold Kenneth Lyon, 84, of Grace Avenue, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Family and friends called Tuesday, Feb. 24 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home in Newark. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newark, with the Rev. William Mugnolo officiating. Burial will be in Port Gibson cemetery in the spring.
In memory of Harold, please direct contributions to the church memorial fund.
Harold was born Oct. 4, 1919, in Port Gibson, the son of the late Kenneth and Margaret Lyon. He retired from Papec Machine Co. in Shortsville, where he worked as an engineer. Harold loved to tinker with things and was very particular with everything he did. At one time in his life, Harold was an avid hunter.
In honor of his service during World War II, the Air Force flag was flown at the funeral home.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Marian Pruner Lyon; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Bernard Austin Jr. of Syracuse; granddaughter, Stephanie (Douglas) McCall of Auburn; great-granddaughters, Vienna and Ellone; brother, Raymond (Jean) Lyon of Port Gibson; sister-in-law, Gladys Davidson of Phelps; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, William Lyon.
