John D. Mallon Jr., 73, of Bridgeport, Conn., died Monday. Born in Auburn, he attended St. Aloysius parochial school and Auburn East High School and moved away in the mid-1950s. Among survivors: Two brothers, Thomas of Union Springs and Paul of Auburn. Services: 9 a.m. Saturday at Farrell's Funeral Service and 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Auburn. Milton M. Mason Jr

Milton M. "Bucky" Mason Jr., 71, of Oneida Healthcare Center Extended Care Facility, Oneida, died Wednesday. Born in the town of Sullivan, he moved to Oneida Healthcare in 1999. He retired in 1985 from Madison County Highway Department after 20 years. He was a member of the bowling league and president of the resident council at Oneida Healthcare. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors: His wife, the former Sharon Newland; four daughters, Kathy Sheldon and Susan Rood, both of Oneida, Cheryl Robertson of Canastota and Judy Leighton of Peterboro; two sons, Perry and Mark, both of Canastota; three sisters, Beatrice  Schmidtka of  Texas, Ada Jeffers of Dansville and Shirley Wiggins of Florida; three brothers, Albert of Munnsville, Marvin of Smyrna and Charles of Middletown, Pa.; 13 grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at J. Homer Ball Funeral Home. Burial, Grove Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 201 James St., Canastota. Thomas Drew Mosher, 41, of Louisville,  Colo., died June 28. He grew up in Syracuse and attended Nottingham High School. He graduated from Union College in Schenectady and received a master's degree from Syracuse University and a law degree from the University of Denver. He was an administrator of computer systems in Boulder,  Colo. Survivors: His wife, the former Marina Whorrall; a daughter, Brenna Mosher, at home; his parents, John and Elizabeth Mosher of Syracuse; a sister, Sarah Clark of Newport, R.I.; two brothers, John of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Eric of Park City, Utah. Ruth G. O'Brien

Ruth Genevieve O'Brien, 93, of Las Vegas died June 28. She lived in Syracuse 91 years before moving to Las Vegas. She graduated from Syracuse City Normal School and Syracuse University. She retired as a principal for the Syracuse City School District and had been an elementary school teacher at Syracuse city schools and a demonstration teacher at Syracuse City Normal School and Syracuse University summer school. She was a member of Assumption Church, the Corinthian Club and the Rescue Mission. Survivors: Two brothers, Robert of Las Vegas and Gene. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Assumption Church, 812 N. Salina St., Syracuse. Burial is private. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, Las Vegas, had arrangements.

Joseph Reale Jr

Joseph Reale Jr., 73, of North Syracuse, died Thursday at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center, Syracuse. Born in Syracuse, he had lived in Central Square and Florida. He owned and operated Atlas Sales for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Elks Club in Florida, Brooklawn Golf Club and bowled in American Bowling Congress tournaments. He was a horse breeder at Rojo Stables in Central Square. Survivors: His wife, the former Rosemary Atkinson; a daughter, Noreen R. O'Brien of Cicero; a son, Mark A. of Baldwinsville; three sisters, Rosemary Paduana and Barbara Piraino, both of Syracuse, and Noreen Falcone of Skaneateles; five grandchildren. Services: 8:15 a.m. Saturday at Pirro and Sons Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Daniel's Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. He attended University of Kansas and Westchester Community College. He was formerly employed at New Process Gear. Survivors: His wife, Marion, of Syracuse; two daughters, Shanna Smith and Dinee Johnson, both of Syracuse; a son, Quenzelle of Syracuse; his mother, Mather Brown of Liverpool; his father, Earnest Boston of Beacon; three sisters, Lorraine Elijah of Binghamton, Jacqueline Canada of Syracuse and Ernestine Boston of Joliet, Ill.; seven brothers, Raymond, Michael, Richard and Tyrone E. Burke, and Sterling Boston, all of Syracuse, David Boston of Schenectady and Robert Boston of Albany; four grandchildren. Services: 5 p.m. Saturday at Garland Brothers Funeral Home. Eddie Lee Starling, 69, of 821 E. Brighton Ave., Syracuse, died Tuesday. He was born in Webster County, Georgia. He attended public schools in Georgia. He retired in 1987 as a bus driver for Centro after 20 years. He was a member of Amalgamated Transit Workers Local 580. He had worked as a chauffeur for the D.W. Winkleman family and had been a union steward at General Electric Co. He was a charter member of Tucker Missionary Baptist Church and was an original member of Flying Eagles Gospel Group for more than 40 years. His son, Willie C., died previously. Survivors: His wife, Dorothy, of Hawkinsville, Ga.; three daughters, Mary Nelson of Liverpool, Nicole McKinney-Campbell and Arcenia C. Bembrey, both of Syracuse; a son, Eddie D. of Groton, Conn.; a sister, Louella Knighton of Syracuse; three brothers, Sylvester of Newark, N.J., Eugene and Benjamin, both of Syracuse; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
