Cassiphine Springer Hilfiger

PHELPS - Cassiphine Springer Hilfiger, 90, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 at the Geneva Living Center South.
Friends attended a funeral service Friday, Aug. 6 at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Cassie's memory, to the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Rd., Rochester 14609.
She is survived by her sons, Edmond (Ruth) of Geneva and Raymond (Sharon) of Farmington; daughter, Lawanda (Charles) Fowler of Phelps; daughter-in-law, Betty Hilfiger of Geneva; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clinton; son, Leonard, and 21 brothers and sisters.

Steven N. Weeks

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Steven N. Weeks, 45, of Stephens St., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Friends called Thursday, Aug. 5 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 6 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family for the needs of his children.
Steve was born Jan. 7, 1959, in Rochester, the son of Norris and Pat Heck weeks, and had lived in this area all of his life. He attended Midlakes High School and was employed by Sunshine Bulk Commodities Inc. in Phelps. Steve enjoyed motorcycles, camping, and repairing anything he could. As his children would say, "My dad could fix anything."
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy; his two children, Siarra and Alex; his parents, Norris and Pat Weeks, four sisters, Linda Weeks (Mark) Benzer, Jeanne Weeks (Kurt) Conley, Gail Weeks (Bob) Warrick and Jennifer Weeks (Pete) Corsi; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Daniel G. "Mike" Carr

MANCHESTER - Mr. Daniel G. "Mike" Carr, 89, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Canandaigua after a brief illness.
Friends called Wed., Aug. 11 at the Kennedy & Son Funeral Home in Canandaigua. A funeral service was held immediately following visitation. Interment will be in Lakeview cemetery in Penn Yan.
Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
A native of Penn Yan, he was the son of Jerome and Nancy Conklin Carr. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Carr served with the Army, 105th Infantry, 27th Division in the Pacific Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for meritorious service and valor.
For many years he worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Canandaigua, retiring in 1977 as fire marshal. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 355 in Penn Yan.
He is survived by his children, Diana (Charles) Otterson of Canandaigua, Michael (Maureen) Carr of Canandaigua and Kevin (Wanda) Carr of Rossburg; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Terry) Keys, Daniel Otterson, Seth (Susan) Carr, Melissa Carr and Eli Carr; great-grandchildren, Schuyler Carr, Sydney Carr and Andrew Keys; and his loving companion, Mary Mader of Manchester.

Bill Emerson

SENECA CASTLE - Bill Emerson, 71, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004.
Friends called Friday, Aug. 6 at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A funeral service was Saturday, Aug. 7 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca Castle Fire Department, P.O. Box 59, Seneca Castle 14547, or to a charity of one's choice.
Bill was born May 9, 1933, in Geneva, the son of Maude and Charles Emerson. He was a graduate of Geneva High School and served two years in the Army.
Bill had worked for Bob Stenzel Chevrolet in Geneva and retired from the town of Seneca as water superintendent. He was a member and commissioner of the Seneca Castle Fire Department and was a Seneca Town Councilman.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Martha; four children, Cheryl (Joe) Martin of Geneva, Terry (Mike) Bloniarz of Geneva, Fred (Vicki) Emerson of Phelps and Ken (Wendy) Emerson of West Henrietta; three grandchildren, Melissa and Kathryn Emerson of Phelps and Noah Emerson of West Henrietta; one sister, Ethna Updyke of Clifton Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four siblings, Richard Emerson, Violet Smith, Edna Raes and Anna Sabin.

Jacqueline E. Whiting McAllister

PHELPS - Mrs. Jacqueline E. Whiting McAllister, 66, of 60 Clifton St. died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at her home.
Friends called Monday, Aug. 9 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the funeral home with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Phelps Volunteer Fire Department.
Mrs. McAllister was born March 26, 1938 in Searsport, Maine, the daughter of Frank and Estelle Moulton Whiting. She was a member of the United Church of Phelps. Mrs. McAllister served as a medic in the Army. She was a past member of the Phelps Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping and fishing and being with family and friends. She was also an avid bingo player.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ned McAllister; children, Robin (Mike) Manley of Wolcott and Ned (Sandra) McAllister of Waterloo; grandchildren Cory D. Lilyea Jr. of Wolcott and Victoria Ann McAllister of Palmyra; brother, Frank H. (Lucy) Whiting of Maine; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert J. Thomas

A funeral was held on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at the Falvo Funeral Home in Webster, NY for Robert J. Thomas, 53, of Webster, NY who passed away on August 6, 2004.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his cherished wife, Kathleen (Parmele) Thomas of Webster; daughter Leslie (Timothy) Acord and adored grandson, Austin of Rushville; brother Fred (Darlene) Thomas of Rochester; sisters Linda (Glenn) Waddle, Jean George, and Betty (Charles) Thompson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arthur (Rose) Parmele of Canandaigua, Linda Parmele (and the late Edward) of Holley, Patricia (Neil) Farnsworth of Key Stone Heights, Florida, Sharon (Charles) DeRuyter of Clifton Springs, and Robert (Colleen) Parmele of Clifton Springs, mother-in-law Dorothy Parmele of Clifton Springs, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was a bookbinder in Rochester for many years, most recently at Cohber Press. He married his wife, Kathleen, on August 29, 1997 and they resided in Rochester before moving to Webster. Bob was active with the Kidney Foundation and the MDA, being a kidney patient and also suffering from ALS.
Internment will be at a later date at the discretion of the family.
He will be sadly missed by many friends, neighbors, relatives and co-workers.

James D. VanCamp

PHELPS - Mr. James D. VanCamp, 73, of 1348 Mott Road, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Friends called Friday, Aug. 20 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 21 at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven cemetery.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Phelps Volunteer Ambulance Fund, 7 Exchange St., Phelps 14532; The Wide Awake Grange, 68 Main St., Phelps 14532; or to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. VanCamp was born Dec. 24, 1930, the son of the late Leo and Anna David VanCamp. He was a member of the United Church of Phelps and was an active member of the Wide Awake Grange. Mr. VanCamp was the custodian of the voting machines. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed staying at his camp in Canada. He also owned and operated the VanCamp Farm.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Naomi Ford VanCamp; children, Alan (Rob and Gary) VanCamp of Brockport, Kevin (Tammy) VanCamp of Phelps and Mark (Laurie) VanCamp of Phelps; grandchildren, Jeffery (Christy), Jeremy (Emily) and Justin VanCamp; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Alex; brother, Francis VanCamp of Phelps; sister-in-law, Elsie VanCamp of Phelps; three aunts, Carrie VanHemel, Lucille Dickens and Edith VanCamp; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Lewis "Bud" VanCamp, who died in 1973.

Ellis Allen

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Ellis Allen, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004 after a long illness.
There were no prior calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Phelps Historical Society, 66 Main St., Phelps, the Humane Society at Lollipop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, or to the Humane Society of Wayne County, 1475 County House Road, Lyons.
Mr. Allen was born July 12, 1920, the son of James and Mildred Godden-Smith Allen on the Isle of Man. He came to the United States in 1925 with his family.
He owned and operated Allen Heating and Plumbing along with several other businesses before retiring.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lois; a sister, Mary (Karl) Schaup of Waterloo; several nieces and nephews; and friend, Marion (Lowell) Maxwell.
He was predeceased by his brother, John
Arrangements were by the Cheney Funeral Home.

Jeanne E. Kelly

SENECA FALLS/CLIFTON SPRINGS - Jeanne E. Kelly, 73, of Ashton Place in Clifton Springs, formerly of Route 89 in Seneca Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Family and friends called Tuesday, Aug. 31 at the Doran Funeral Home, Inc., in Seneca Falls.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls 13148.
Jean was born July 29, 1931, in Passaic, NJ the daughter of Walter J. and Catherine M. Read Nicholson. She and her husband, John, lived in Springfield, NJ, for many years before moving to Seneca Falls in 1993. In 2001, they moved to Clifton Springs.
She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicope, Mass., where she received a bachelor of arts degree in education and history. She received her master of arts degree in education from Seton League of Seton Hall University. She was active as a co-leader in Girl Scouts in New Jersey. She was a member of the National Council of Catholic Women and a past member of the Board of Directors of Seneca County Birthright. Jean was a past member of the Seneca Falls-Waterloo Kiwanis Club. In addition, she was a former member of the league of Women Voters. After she retired, Jean typed in Braille for the Institute For The Blind in New Jersey.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Kelly of Virginia and Catherine (Kerry) Clendinning of Austin, Texas; one son, John "Jack" (Melissa) Kelly of New Jersey; and eight grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Kelly, who died Dec. 6, 2003.

Anna Ruth Burcroff

SHORTSVILLE - Anna Ruth Burcroff, 80, loving wife, mother and grandma died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic
Friends called Sunday, Aug. 22, at Sainsbury Funeral Home in Shortsville. Her funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 23 at the Presbyterian Church in Shortsville. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery in Shortsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the book of remembrance of the Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Burcroff was a graduate of Red Jacket High School. She was a member of Shortsville Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and was on the stewardship committee.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Stephen Baroody; and grandson, David Baroody.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob S. Burcroff.
