Harold Lee Boak Sr.

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Harold Lee Boak Sr. of Manchester, formerly of Seneca Castle, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at Geneva General Hospital.
Calling hours were held Saturday, Nov. 6 at Sainsbury Funeral Home in Shortsville, where funeral services followed. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery in Shortsville.
Contributions may be made to Shortsville Ambulance, or to Sands Cancer Center in Canandaigua.
Mr. Boak was born in Waterloo, and had served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He was employed by Spancrete of Manchester until his retirement, and also worked at several other concrete facilities. He was a member of the Laborers International Union of America, the Geneva American Legion and the Waterloo VFW posts.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Prudy Boak; two sons, Harold Lee (Becki) Boak Jr. and Thomas (Lori Dana) Boak; three stepsons, Steven (Dawn) Lester, Larry (Wanda) Days and Wendell Dumas; three sisters, Gladys McNanney, Marbette (Frank) Backus and Garnette Cramer; and five grandchildren, Ryan and Tammy Boak, Avery and Garrett Boak and Megan DeFrance Lester.

Barbara J. Gibbs

PHELPS - Barbara J. Gibbs, 75, of 1 South Ave., died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Friends called Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 7 at the United Church of Phelps, with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Phelps Historical Society, 66 Main St., Phelps 14532.
Barbara was born March 10, 1929, in Albion, the daughter of E. Kirke and Elizabeth Chadwick Bell. She was a member of the United Church of Phelps, and an active member of the Phelps Historical Society. She enjoyed playing bridge, sometimes belonging to three different groups. Barbara also loved traveling.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Gerald H. Gibbs; two daughters, Patricia Gibbs of Geneva and Marsha Gibbs of Phelps; three sons, Laurence (Margaret) Gibbs of Cary, N.C.; Roger Gibbs of Penns Grove, J.J.; and Marc (Michele) Gibbs of Alton; and five grandchildren, Michael and Katherine Gibbs, and Christopher, Elizabeth and Alyssa Gibbs,
She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Bauer.

Ruth E. Mourey

LYONS - Ruth E. Mourey, 79, of Jackson Street, went to be with the Lord Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends and family called Tuesday, Nov. 2 at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home in Lyons. A memorial service was Wednesday, Nov. 3 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyons, with the Rev. Jack Bailey officiating. Inurnment will be in Alton cemetery.
Ruth was born April 8, 1925, in Phelps, the daughter of Marion and Rose Burgess Clark. She was employed at Computer Consoles in Rochester as an inspector.
Ruth was an avid bowler and was a member of the Newark Archery Club.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Clare "Curley"; three children, Ron (Susan) Mourey of Newark, Patricia (Robert) Manning of Lyons and Sherry (Michael) Galle of Lyons; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Judy Mourey of Huron; three sisters, Ellen (Bud) Mourey of Alton, Louise (Don) Davenport of North Rose and Dorothy Monji of North Rose; one brother, Robert Clark of Florida; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and several aunts, including Margaret Higgins of Lyons.
She was predeceased by her son James, who died in 1985; and her brother, George Clark, who died in 2004.

Sharon Ann Robinson

NEWARK - Sharon Ann Robinson, 64, formerly of Newark, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004) in Brantingham.
A memorial Mass was held Friday, Nov. 5 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glenfield, Lewis County, with a reception following. The family would like to give special thanks to the community for their love and support.
Memorials may be made to Finger Lakes Radiation Oncology Center, 2 Coulter Road, Clifton Springs 14432, or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, Lowville 13367.
Sharon Ann was born Jan. 25, 1940, in Clifton Springs, the daughter of James and Georgia Post Quigley. Sharon lived in Newark for many years until her retirement from Newark Country Club in 1966. She and her husband, George, moved to Brantingham Lake in 1997, where she was an active and dedicated member of the St. Mary's-St. Thomas Woman's Guild. Sharon was a loving wife, mother and friend.
She is survived by her husband, George; two daughters, Lori Robinson and Susami Smith; two sons, Peter (Kinuyo) Smith and James (Annabelle) Smith; grandchildren, Benjamin, Susan, Clayton, Sean, Connor and Samuel; a sister, Mary Lou Driscoll; her mother, Georgia Quigley; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, James; and her sister, Helen Margaret.

Julia M. Burgess Craw Stearman

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Julia M. Burgess Craw Stearman, 97, of Candor, formerly of Geneva, passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004 at Lakeside Nursing Home in Ithaca.
Friends called Sunday, Nov. 7 at the Candor Funeral Parlor and Monday, Nov. 8 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs, where funeral services followed at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the Candor Emergency Squad and Fire Department in Julia's memory.
Julia was born May 25, 1907, in Sayre, Pa., the daughter of Fred and Ora Burgess, and had lived in the Auburn, Geneva and Suffern areas. She was a member of the Methodist Church and enjoyed reading and needle work. Julia was an avid baseball fan and loved to watch the New York Mets and her grandson playing high school baseball. She was retired from Avon Manufacturing in Suffern.
She is survived by her daughter, Frances L. "Larrie" Bishop-Stevens of Candor; a brother, Russell (Evelyn) Burgess of Clifton Springs; granddaughters, Michelle (Francis) Foster, Norraine "Lin"(Dan Garner) Brown, Andrea "Ande" (Jeffrey) Maas, and Erin and Keelan Craw; a grandson, Eric Craw; great-grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Bennett, Stephanie Brown, Arminda Mattoon, Brelin Mattoon, Rhyne Maas, Kristofer Brown, Isaac Craw; great-granddaughter, Olivia Bennett; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her first and second husbands, Charles M. Craw and Ralph Stearman; a son, Terrence; a brother, Fred; and a sister, Frances.

Harold R. Wells

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Harold R. Wells, 79, of Dayton Avenue, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.
In keeping with his wishes, there were no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Nov. 4 at St. Felix Church in Clifton Springs. Burial will be in St. Agnes cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs 14432, in Harold's memory.
Harold was born April 27, 1925, in Lima, the son of Robert and Frances Wells and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a graduate of Clifton Springs High school, and served his country in the Air Force during World War II. He was employed by PaPec and Garlocks before retiring from Wright Components.
He was a member of St. Felix Church and was a member and past treasurer for the Phelps American Legion. He enjoyed smelting and fishing, gardening, playing cards and attending air shows throughout the area. Harold will be greatly missed by all he knew.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia "Pat" Wells; three daughters, Linda (Bill) DeVinny, Susan (John) Smith and Laurie (Jack) Caves; three sons, Robert (Donna) Wells, John Wells and his fiancee, Sue Wheeler and James (Angela) Wells; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, William (Jackie) Wells of North Carolina and Richard (Nancy) Wells of Canandaigua; and nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were entrusted to Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.

Robert E. Wheeler

GENEVA/MANCHESTER - Robert E. Wheeler, 77, of Keuka Lane in Friendly Village, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at home.
There were no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held Monday, Nov. 8 at the McGuigan Funeral Home in Geneva. The Rev. W. James Gerling, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Geneva, officiated. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hydrant Hose Co. 1 of Geneva Fire Department.
Robert was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Clear Lake, Minn., the son of Arthur and Hattie Edwards Wheeler. He graduated from Litchfield High School in Litchfield, Minn. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II from 1944 to 1945 and in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1945 to 1947; and in the Air Force from 1948 to 1953, serving in England, France, German, North Africa and Saudi Arabia.
Robert retired from the City of Geneva Fire Department after 25 years, and also retired from Abbey Industries as night supervisor. He worked part-time at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in the service department for 18 years.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post 457 in Phelps, VFW Post 2670 in Geneva, and was a life member of the Hydrant Hose Co. 1 of the Geneva Fire Department.
He is survived by ha daughter, Jayne (Jeff Warren) Wheeler of Canandaigua; a son, Terrence Wheeler of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Gordon of Oswego; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Mary Jane Merry Wheeler, in 1990.

Robert W. Donnelly

PHELPS - Robert W. Donnelly, 74, of 10 S. Newark St., died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at the Clifton Springs Hospital.
Friends called Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Thursday, Nov. 11 at the United Church of Phelps, with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven cemetery.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Phelps Community Library, 15 Church St., Phelps 14532.
Mr. Donnelly was born March 28, 1930 in Waterloo, the son of Kenneth and Edith Buisch Donnelly. He graduated from Waterloo High School in 1947 and attended Ag Tech at Alfred State University. He was a member of the United Church of Phelps and was involved in the community. He owned and operated the family farm, enjoyed golfing, skiing and hunting and was a member of the Bear Creek Lodge Association.
Mr. Donnelly was an avid reader and also enjoyed aviation but his greatest love was his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Liz Donnelly; a son, Brian (Gina) Donnelly of Newark; a daughter, Kathy (Brad) Jacobs of Phelps; four grandchildren, Peter Donnelly and Mitchell, Evelyn and Benjamin Jacobs; a sister, Marion Donnelly of Phelps; a sister-in-law, Gert Donnelly of Phelps; a niece, Lisa Donnelly; a nephew, David (Beth) Donnelly; and a great-niece, Olivia Donnelly.
He was predeceased by his fraternal twin brother, Raymond Donnelly; and a son-in-law, Robert Laurine.

Carolyn Dennis Fritz

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Carolyn Dennis Fritz, 66, of LaRue Road, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at home after a long illness.
Friends called Tuesday, Nov. 9 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the funeral home with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Finger Lakes Community Cancer Center in Carolyn's memory.
Carolyn was born Feb. 3, 1938, in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Edmund and Doris Dennis and had lived in the area all her life. She was retired from P&C; Foods in Canandaigua after 30 years of service. Carolyn was very artistic and loved making crafts and signs; she also enjoyed playing music on her guitar. Most of all Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Henry William Fritz; her children, Henry William (Sandy) Fritz III of Canandaigua, Dennis (Debbie) Fritz of Clifton Springs, Janet Krenzer of Waterloo, Cathy (James) Johns of Clifton Springs; a sister, Grace (Bill) Redfield of Florida; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Young; and her granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Fritz.

Carol Kittell

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Carol Kittell, 90, of Highland Ave., passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Friends attended a memorial service on Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Riverview cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the Alzheimer's Association, the Finger Lakes Community Cancer Center or the Clifton Springs Library in Carol's memory.
Carol was born in Yonkers, on Dec. 10, 1913, and graduated from the Crane School of Music at Potsdam in 1934. Following college, Carol began teaching music in Irondequoit. She was married to Harry Kittell Jr. on April 12, 1939, in Yonkers.
In June of 1939, Carol and Harry moved to Clifton Springs which they called their home for the next 60-plus years. She was a substitute music and elementary school teacher in the area. Carol enjoyed playing golf and gardening. She was a member of the Tourists Club, very active in the Clifton Springs Hospital Auxiliary, charter member of the Clifton Springs Country Club and loved to play bridge.
Carol is survived by one daughter, Barbara Sue (Reginald) Fortier of Watertown, Mass.; one sister, Alice Wolman of Mentor, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Ruth Kittell of east Greenbush; and several nieces and nephews.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, Harry, in 2000; and her son, John, in 1963.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.
