Karl R. Scott, 86, of Haights Gulf Road, Truxton, died Friday. He was born in Greenwich, N.J., and graduated in 1933 from high school in Belvedere, N.J. He lived in the Truxton area for 55 years. He retired after working 38 years as a farmer and also worked for the Cortland County Highway Department. He was a member of Truxton Methodist Church, Cortland Bulk & Dairy League and Albright Grange 440 for 53 years. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and received the Distinguished Flying Cross with three oak leaf clusters. Survivors: His wife of 61 years, Vera; four daughters, Nancy Hollon of Carlisle, Pa., Linda Mageske of Tucumcari, N.M., Ann Baker of Chickasha, Okla., and Susi Scott of Anchorage, Alaska; five sisters, Arlene Shaw of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Mary Moreken of Summerfield, Fla., Elsie M. Dionne of Rye, N.H., Kathryn Vischansky of Smithfield, N.C., and Jacquelyn Chando of Phillipsburg, N.J.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday in Truxton Methodist Church. Burial, Truxton Cemetery. Calling hours, 1 to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Cortland, has arrangements. Janet Walsh Sees, 81, of 700 E. Brighton Ave., Syracuse, died Friday at Loretto. She graduated from Barberton ( Ohio) High School and Notre Dame College, South Euclid, Ohio. She retired 1986 after 20 years as a schoolteacher in Rome. Her husband, Eugene E., died in 1982; a son, Stephen X., died in 1976. Survivors: Three daughters, Mary Karpey of Riverview, Fla., Nora Scaglione of New Hartford and Monica Lasher of Hudson; two sons, Michael of Liverpool and E. Gregory of Needham, Mass.; a sister, Eleanor Sever of Mansfield, Ohio; a brother, Victor Walsh Jr. of Sudbury, Mass.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, West Liberty Street, Rome. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, Rome. Zachary U. "Zack" Webb, 27, of 129 Lincoln Ave., Syracuse, died Tuesday. He was a victim of a shooting. He was born in Syracuse. He attended Syracuse public schools and received a GED. He formerly worked for Wegmans. Survivors: His wife, Tamiesha D. Brantley-Webb; three daughters, Sa'Tese R. Webb, Qua-Niah N. Webb and Qua-Nira R. Webb, all of Syracuse; two sons, Y'Ram Adams-Webb and Nyzier, both of Syracuse; his mother and stepfather, Brenda Judge and Robert Bryd of Syracuse; his father, James L. Webb of Syracuse; a sister, Rosalyn R. Byrd of Syracuse; his maternal grandmother, Hattie Judge of Greenville, Miss.; his paternal grandmother, Betty Webb of Syracuse. Charles J. Courtney, 67, of Skaneateles died Saturday. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he lived there for 20 years. He also lived in the Binghamton area and in Camillus. He graduated from St. Mary's Christian Brothers' Grammar School in Belfast. He retired in 1998 after eight years as superintendent of buildings and grounds for the West Genesee schools in Camillus. He was former superintendent of buildings and grounds for the Vestal school district. He was founder and teacher of the Courtney School of Irish Dancing in Syracuse and Binghamton, a member and former president of the New York State Association for Superintendents of Buildings and Grounds and a member of Camillus Elks Lodge 2367. Survivors: His wife of 33 years, the former Sandra J. Tilton; a daughter, Lisa Courtney of Skaneateles; and other relatives, living in Northern Ireland. Services: Private. He was a 30-year member of CNY Softball Umpires Association, a past president of Jaycees, and a former member of the Camillus Elks Club and the Optimist Club of Camillus. He was a Marine Corps veteran. Survivors: His wife of 42 years, the former Kay Thompson; two daughters, Kelly Leavery of Brewerton and Denise Luker of New Hartford; three sisters, Anne Trontoski of Nevada, Elinor Tripp of Oregon and Penelope Bennink of Clymer; a brother, Colin Fitzgerald of McDonough; two grandsons.
