Audrey H. Landschoot

PHELPS - Audrey H. Landschoot, 82, of 75, Mason St., died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005 at Geneva Living Center North.
Friends called Monday, Oct. 24 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services followed, with the Rev. Ron Boyd officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery in Phelps.
Mrs. Landschoot was born on Dec. 3, 1922, in Clifton Springs, the daughter of the late John and Lenora Scheer Schefke.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
She is survived by three sons, Richard (Eileen) of Phelps, Dennis (Ruth) of Tuscumbia, Ala., and Brian (Cathy) of Oaks Corners; daughter-in-law, Linda Carmichael of Victor; 12 grandchildren, Kimberly, Lisa, Robert, Sheri, Valerie, Eric, Amy, Tammy, Arielle, Tiffany, Travis and Colby; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Henry (Irene) of Newark and Arthur (Diane) of Phelps; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Landschoot; and two sons, Kevin and David.

Edward P. Simpson

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Edward P. Simpson, 68, formerly of Walworth, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005 at Geneva General Hospital.
Friends called Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home in Newark. Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the First United Methodist Church, South Main Street in Newark. Burial will be in Boxwood cemetery in Medina.
Memorials in his name may be made to the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 165 E. Union St., Newark 14513.
Mr. Simpson was born Jan. 4, 1937, in Blaisdell, the son of Edward J. and Althea Perry Simpson. He had worked for Xerox in Webster for 20 years and retired in 2001 from the U.S. Postal Service in Rochester. Ed graduated from Medina High School in 1955 and graduated from State University College at Brockport. He served with the Marine Corps. a member of the Walworth United Methodist Church, he sang with the choir, and served as trustee, youth leader and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Walworth Lions Club and a volunteer with the United Way in Walworth.
He is survived by his son, Mark (Maureen) of Henrietta; daughters, Jean (Robert Jr.) Bendix of Newark, Barbara (David) Thieme of Laguna Neguel, Calif., and Molly (Margaret) Crowley-Perry of Brighton; 10 grandchildren; and a nephew.
He was predeceased by his sister, Flora Simpson.

Paul Bankert

PHELPS - Paul Bankert, 72, of Melvin Hill Road, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 at his home.
Friends called Thursday at the Eacker Funeral Home in Phelps. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday, Sept. 9 at the St. Francis Church in Phelps. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery in Phelps with full military honors.
Friends may contribute to their favorite charity in Paul's memory.
Paul was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Clifton Springs, the son of the late Prosper and Flora Champagne, and lived on Melvin Hill Road all of his life. He served his country in the Army during World War II. Paul worked for GW Lisk in Clifton Springs and was a member of St. Francis Church in Phelps. He enjoyed flowers, antiques and gardening. Paul was a good hearted man with compassion who always put his family before anything. He will be sadly missed by all of his loving friends and family.
He is survived by his brothers, Thomas (Betty) Bankert of Phelps, George (Margaret) Bankert of Gorham, Robert (Sandra) Bankert of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.

Spiridon 'Spiros' Lolis

PHELPS - Spiridon 'Spiros' Lolis, 57, of 53 Mary St., died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Friends called Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Trisagion Prayers were at 7pm Tuesday evening. Funeral services were Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by funeral services at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Rochester. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery in Phelps.
Spiros was born March 2, 1948 in Skiathas, Greece, the son of the late Panagiotis and Panagiota Lolis. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Rochester. Spiros owned and operated the Astoria Restaurant in Phelps for 25 years and he loved horse racing.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ermioni 'Addie' Lolis of Phelps; son, Panagiotis 'Pete' (Shelley) Lolis of Phelps; daughter, Vasiliki 'Vicky' Lolis of Phelps; one brother and four sisters, living in Greece; several nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was predeceased by two brothers Evangelos and Etali Lolis.

Maria Galusha

SENECA FALLS - Maria Galusha, 72, of Haigh Street in Seneca Falls, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo.
The family received friends at the Doran Funeral Home in Seneca Falls. A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls, with the Rev. William Laird, pastor, as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Columbkille cemetery in Seneca Falls.
Contributions may be made to St. John Bosco School, 81 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls 13148, or the American Diabetes Association, Central New York Region, 1603 W. Genesee St., Syracuse 13204.
Maria was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Seneca Falls, the daughter of the late Gerard and Antoinette Bianchini Manzari. She was a lifelong resident of Seneca Falls where she was a graduate of St. Patrick School and Mynderse Academy. She had worked for 42 years as legal secretary for the Miller & Miller Law Offices of Seneca Falls. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls, a member and past president of the SMS Auxiliary of Seneca Falls and a member of the Waterloo Post 6433 VFW Auxiliary and the Marine Corps League Auxiliary of Waterloo. She had belonged to T.O.P.S. for many years. Maria was an avid bowler, she was the first woman in the area to become a member of the 600 Club for bowling.
She is survived by her husband, Dominick Galusha II of Seneca Falls, whom she married Feb. 4, 1961; two sons, Dominick Galusha III of Colonial Heights, Va., and Jerry (Nancy) Galusha of Seneca Falls; four grandchildren, Brittany Galusha and Dominick Galusha IV, Daniel and Phillip Galusha; two sisters, Angela (Paul) Fera of Phelps, and Clara (Robert) Dreitlein in Liverpool; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Robert E. Lewis

NEW PORT RICHEY/GENEVA - Robert E. Lewis, 86, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Geneva, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005 in New Port Richey.
A Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2005 at the Presbyterian Church in Geneva. Burial will be in Glenwood cemetery in Geneva, at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church, 59 W. Main St., Shortsville, 14548; the Presbyterian Church, 24 Park Place in Geneva, or Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 6807 Rowan Road, New Port Richey, FL 34653.
Robert was born in Canandaigua, raised in Shortsville, and retired to New Port Richey 27 years ago from Geneva. He was a regional coordinator for Customer Equipment Service, employed by the American Can Co., and was a veteran of the Army Air Corps in World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Arthur M. (Laura) Lewis of Geneva, and Thomas E. Lewis of Iowa City, Iowa; a sister, Mary Converse of Clifton Springs; a brother Alfred Lewis of Fresno, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Lucile Lewis of Little River, S.C.; brothers-in-law, Robert Lannon of Clifton Springs and Maurice Maney of Geneva; three grandsons, Daniel of Geneva, Devyn and Grant of Iowa City, Iowa; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian B. Lewis.

Wilma L. Nellis

NEWARK - Wilma L. Nellis, 68, of West Miller Street in Newark, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 at the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends called Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home in 127 E. Miller St. in Newark. Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the funeral home with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Newark cemetery.
Memorials in her name may be made to Finger Lakes Region American Lung Association, 1595 Elmwood Ave., Rochester 14620.
Mrs. Nellis was born April 25, 1939 in Phelps, the daughter of W.Richard and Gladys Goodman Smith. She retired from the Newark-Wayne Community Hospital where she worked in the office. Previously she had worked for Comstock Foods and Bloomer Brothers in Newark. Wilma was a 1955 graduate of Phelps Central School.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years Donald E. Nellis; her son, Edwin (Donna) of Newark; daughters, Donna (Ed) Bedette of Lyons, Joanne Nellis of Newark and Bonnie Jones (Gere Otterbein) of Newark; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Wiliera of Rome; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Clyde C. DeLong

PHELPS - Clyde C. DeLong, 79, of 728 Route 96 in Phelps, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
There were no prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
Clyde was born on Jan. 16, 1926, in Interlaken, the son of the late Frank and Cecil Hilkert DeLong. Clyde was best known for his work on small engines.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane DeLong of Cortland; daughter, Cledette (Gary) Sherman of Cortland; two step-daughters, Sondra (Michael) Henry of Cortland and Betty Jane (John) Bull of Homer; four grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bertha Ferris of Interlaken, Blanche Christensen of Interlaken, Frances Steen of Ithaca, Bernice Coleman of Romulus, Winfred (Beverly) DeLong of Interlaken, Frank Delong of Ovid and James and Guy DeLong of Interlaken.
He was predeceased by sister, Beatrice Rosekrans and brother, Marcus DeLong.
Funeral arrangements have been made by the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.

Irene Goodman

PHELPS - Irene Goodman, 93, formerly of Route 14 North, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005 at the Clifton Springs Hospital Extended Care Unit.
Friends called Thursday, Sept. 15 at the Eacker Funeral Home, 47 Main St. in Phelps. Funeral services followed in Oaklawn cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the Phelps Ambulance Fund in Irene's memory.
Irene was born March 16, 1912, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Burton and Grace Kerrick, and had lived in the area all of her life. She was an avid bowler and loved taking care of her family. She will be sadly missed by all her loving friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Hazel (Albert) Bragg of Geneva; sons James Goodman of Geneva, Elmer (Celia) Goodman of Bristol, and Roland (Rose) Goodman of Geneva; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and sister Jean Wilson of Stanley.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen; daughters, Jane Campbell and Eugenia Goodman; and stepdaughter, Sylvia LaBour.

William Merscher

CLIFTON SPRINGS - William Mershcer, 83, of 181 Spring Run in Clifton Springs, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2005 at his home surrounded by his family.
In keeping with his wishes there were no prior calling hours.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 to celebrate the lives of both Martha and William Merscher at the Clifton Springs Hospital Chapel, 2 Coulter Road in Clifton Springs, with the Rev. Albert Kamm officiating.
Friends may contribute to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs 14432, in William's memory.
William was born July 15, 1922, the son of the late Washington and Theda Merscher and lived in the area most of his life. He was retired from GW Lisk and later returned to work for Voplex in Canandaigua. He served his country in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Phelps American Legion, the Phelps Sons of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. He was a private pilot and loved wood working.
He is survived by his children, Susanne Dreher of Clifton Springs, Jack Fischer Jr. of Glens Falls, Fred Merscher of Phelps and David Merscher of Canandaigua; sister, Peg Lindner of Clifton Springs; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Martha; and his sister, Betty.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.
