Betty L. Evans

PHELPS - Betty L. Evans, 77, of 12 Ontario St., died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at her home.
There were no prior calling hours. Friends were invited to attend a funeral service Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Phelps Ambulance Inc., PO Box 81, Phelps 14532.
Mrs. Evans was born on June 10, 1928, in Shawmut, Penn., the daughter of the late John and Alice Keller Carr. She retired after 20 years of service with the Newark Developmental Center. The most important thing in Betty's life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Harry T. Evans of Geneva; daughters, Donna (Gary) Gray of Waterloo and Judy Sheffield of Williamson; grandchildren, Tammy (Michael) Maher of Rochester, Tina (Steve) Collins of Georgia, Danny Evans of Oviedo, Fla., Amy Sheffield and Jenny Sheffield both of Williamson; five great-grandchildren; five brothers; three sisters and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by husband, Frederick Evans.

Louise C. Payne

SHORTSVILLE - Louise C. Payne, 90, of County Road 7 in Shortsville, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Friends called Monday, Dec. 12 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Dec. 13 at St. Felix Church in Clifton Springs. Burial will be in St. Agnes cemetery.
Louise was born July 15, 1915, in Rochester, the daughter of the late Paul and Elvira Finewood, and had lived in the area all her life. She was a member of St. Felix Church for many years and served as a member of the Pastoral Council. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was an avid bingo player and helped run St. Felix Church's bingo hall for many years. She took great pride in keeping her lawn and property in immaculate condition. Louise's chronological age might have been 90 years, but in mind and spirit she wasn't a day over 70. She will be sadly missed by all of her loving friends and family.
She is survived by her son, Roger "Pinky" Payne of Clifton Springs; daughter, Janet (Bob) Reed of Stanardsville, Va.; granddaughter, Kiran (Timothy) Woodson; grandson, Jay; great-granddaughter, Amber and another great-grandchild on the way; nieces, Jean, Lois, and Arlene and nephew Bob.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alden Payne in 1999.

Frances I. Satterlee

PHELPS - Mrs. Frances I. Satterlee, 56, of 304 Newmiller Road, in the town of Junius, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 in her home.
Friends called Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service was Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 in the funeral home. The Rev. Ellen Donnan Carroll, pastor of the Junius Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial will be in Southwick cemetery in Junius.
Memorial contributions may be given to Happiness House-Finger Lakes Cerebral Palsy Association, 731 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva 14456.
Frances was born Aug. 24, 1949, in Seneca Falls, the daughter of Elmer C. and Meredith Vosburg Perry. She attended school at Geneva Elementary and Waterloo High School. She was a home health aide for 14 years, a certified nursing assistant for five years and later was the manager of the hot dog stand at Waterloo Premium Outlets.
She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Satterlee; one son, Brian (Honie) Allen of Clyde; four daughters, Rockeal (Jim) Lobner of Junius, Kim (Don) Grigg of Dallas, N.C., Kelly (Terry) Wherle of Delaware, Ohio, and Bobby Jo (Jay) Gillespie of Jonesboro, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; 10 brothers and sisters; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Robert L. Maslyn

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Robert L. Maslyn, 73, of 739 County Road 7, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Friends called Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps, where the American Legion paid respects at 7 p.m. that evening. A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Dec. 12 in St. Francis Catholic Church in Phelps. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery with full military honors by the Phelps American Legion.
Memorial donations may be made to the Seeley B. Parish Phelps American Legion, 1346 Rte. 96, Phelps 14432.
Bob was born on April 22, 1932, in Geneva, the son of the late August and Anna Johnson Maslyn. He was a member of St. Felix/St. Francis Catholic Community. Bob was an Army Veteran and was a very active member of the Seeley B. Parish Phelps American Legion Post #457. He was a former Post Commander and was currently on the Executive Committee. Bob retired after 30 years from the Rochester Operating Engineers Local #832. He was also a longtime member of the Buckhorn Sportsman's Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elsie Maslyn; son, Robert Jr. (Darlene) Maslyn of Geneva; daughter, Kathy (Jeff) Melito of Phelps; step-daughter, Sandra (Richard) Doges of Atlantic Beach, N.C.; grandchildren, Mary Anna and Nikolas Melito and Carrie (Adam) Moore; step-grandchildren, Tina Calhoun and Kristen Hawley; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Riley and Rowan Moore; step-great-grandchildren, Hayden and Harrison Calhoun, and Alex, Ashley and Allysa Hawley; two brothers, Francis (Doreen) Maslyn of Waterloo, John (Carol) Maslyn of Phelps; sister, Judy Maslyn of Phelps; sister-in-law, Jean Maslyn of Phelps and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Mert Maslyn.

Edward J. Cavanaugh Jr.

PHELPS/CLIFTON SPRINGS - Edward J. Cavanaugh Jr., 75, passed away peacefully after a long illness Friday, Dec. 2, 2005 at the Clifton Springs Hospital.
Family and friends called Friday, Dec. 9 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. Dupont Parkway in New Castle, Del.
Memorial contributions may be made to the House of John.
Mr. Cavanaugh was born and raised in Wilkes Barre, Pa. After graduating high school, he entered the Air Force, where he served in the Korean conflict. He was later stationed in New Castle where he and his family moved and called home. He moved to Clifton Springs in 1990, from 1204 Wilmington Road, New Castle, where he lived since 1963. He retired from the Diamond State Telephone Company after 32 years. He worked part-time for ACE Hardware of New Castle and Village Hardware of Newark. He also worked part-time for Paul's Auto Mart in Clifton Springs. He was a past deputy chief and is an honorary member of the Good Will Fire Company in New Castle. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge 2281 of New Castle and the American Legion Post 12 of Hagerstown, Md.
He is survived by his two sons, Keith (Cheryl) of Newark and Kenneth (Maria) of Wilmington, Del.; three grandsons, Ryan of New Castle, and Matthew and Andrew of Wilmington; three granddaughters, Megan of Newark, Michelle and Miranda of Glasgow, Del.; also his three brothers, Carl and Harold of Newark, and Charles "Bud" of Millsboro; and his sister, Cheryl Thornton of Smyma, Del. During the past several months, Mr. Cavanaugh lived with is cousins, JoAnn and Paul Burnett of Clifton Springs, who cared for him during his long illness.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mildred R. (Blackburn) Cavanaugh; and his beloved son, Kevin.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.

Genevieve Cook

CLIFTON SPRINGS/PALMYRA - Genevieve Cook, 97, entered into rest Monday, Jan. 9, 2006.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 12 at the Palmyra Reformed Church, 232 Canandaigua Road.
Memorial donations may be made to the Palmyra Ambulance Squad, Route 31, Palmyra; or the Palmyra Reformed Church.
She is survived by special friends, Shirley Schoonerman, Louise Ondra and Orva Gale; a niece, Betty (Norman) Lush of Palmyra; a nephew, George Lemoyne of Palmyra; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Donald C. McLaughlin

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Donald C. McLaughlin, 79, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home.
In keeping with Don's wishes, there were no prior calling hours or services.
Don was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Geneva, the son of Aloysius and Anna Carlson McLaughlin. He lived in the Finger Lakes area all of his life and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and he was an avid skeet shooter. He served in the Navy during World War II and was retired from NYSEG in Geneva.
He is survived by his children, Donna of Chesapeake, Va., Dan (Jackie) of Newark and Debra of Ovid; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Edith "Ann" Costley McLaughlin.

Howard Dwight Hickok

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Howard Hickok, 95, of County Road 27, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 at the Clifton Springs; Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
In keeping with his wishes there were no prior calling hours. A memorial service to celebrate Howard's life will be scheduled at a later date. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Riverview cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the Clifton Springs Baptist Church in Howard's memory.
Howard was born Feb. 6, 1910, in Stanley, the son of the late Arthur R. and Kathryn Hickok, and had lived in the area all of his life. He served his country in the Army during World War II. Howard was retired after 30 years of service at the Newark Developmental Center, where he was a mechanic.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia Wheaton Hickok; son, Howard Wayne Hickok of Clifton Springs; niece, Marian Waldron of Ocala, Fla.; and nephew, James Lewis of Waterloo.
He is predeceased by his sisters, Olive Lewis and Doris Fulton.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs.
