Thomas "Mouse" VanDeMortel

PHELPS - Thomas "Mouse" VanDeMortel, 60, of 19 Church St., died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at Strong Memorial Hospital.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, Feb. 6 in St. Felix Church, in Clifton Springs, with the Rev. Mark Brewer presiding. Burial will be in St. Agnes cemetery.
Thomas was born March 11, 1945, in Clifton Springs, the son of the late Herman and Veronica (Mary) Herbert VanDeMortel. He really enjoyed classic cars and being an amateur artist.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas (Darleen) VanDeMortel of Phelps, and Russell William VanDeMortel of Clifton Springs; daughter, Catherine (Jim) Snow of Phelps; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Logan Snow and Erik, Tanner and Russell II VanDeMortel.
Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, David.

Daniel J. Webb

PHELPS - Daniel J. Webb, 46, of 12 Pleasant St., died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006 at his home, with his family by his side.
Friends called Monday, Feb. 6 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 7 in the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lynn Spence officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery in Phelps.
It is suggested that memorial donations be made to the Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Road, Geneva 14456.
Dan was born Sept. 17, 1959, in El Paso, Texas, the son of Joe Webb and Linda Main Burns. Dan was an active member of the New York State Muzzle loaders Association. He taught his daughters how to load and shoot a muzzle loader and was very proud of their accomplishments. Dan was an avid bowler and belonged to the H.E.P. Sales bowling team at Roseland Bowl. He was a true nature lover, and loved being outdoors and hunting and fishing. Dan cherished his time in the woods with the "Lannon Club", spending many special times hunting, fishing and camping, but above all else the most important thing in Dan's life was his three girls.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Karen Webb; their two daughters, Holly (fiance' Steven Orlopp) and Heidi Webb; mother, Linda Burns of Clifton Springs, father, Joe (Pat) Webb of Abilene, Texas; sisters and brothers, Kathy (Robert) Bezzek of Phelps, Donnie (Matt) Strub of Clifton Springs, David (Debbie) Webb of SanAntonio, Texas, Carla (Tim) Murrin of Sherman, Texas, Susan Webb of Austin, Texas; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and his adoring Lab, Sable.

Everett G. "Toby" Young

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Everett G. "Toby" Young, 83, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at the Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic.
Friends called Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Cheney Funeral home in Phelps. Funeral services were Wednesday, Feb. 8 in the Oaks Corners Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ellen Carroll officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Everett was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Phelps, the son of the late Clarence and Helen Travis Young. He worked as a payload operator for over 29 years, for the General Crushed Stone in Oaks Corners. He was a member of the Seeley B. Parish Phelps American Legion Post 457, a life member of the V.F.W. in Newark, the Waterloo Moose Lodge, the Saturday Night Mixed Bowling League and the Sunday I.O.O.B. League. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and country/western music.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
He is survived by his daughters, Helen Bowman of California, MaryAnn (Ronald) Reeves of Alabama, MaryJane (Charles Sr.) Ostrowski of Clyde and Betty (Robert) Anderson of Clifton Springs; loving companion of 17 years, Ann Amadio of Clifton Springs; brothers and sisters, Roger Young of Kentucky, Loretta (Robert) Young of Phelps, Nellie Campbell of Clifton Springs, Ames (Pauline) Young of Newark and Alithea Fillingham of Geneva; grandchildren, Tammy (John) White of Phelps, Gloria and Charles Ostrowski Jr. of Geneva, Kendra Cobb, Cody Ledbetter and Traci Reeves all of Alabama; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel M. Young in 1988; three grandchildren; three brothers and six sisters.

Marion Durfee

PHELPS/NEWARK - Marion Durfee, 92, of the Vienna Gardens Apartments in Phelps, formerly of Newark, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006 at the Clifton Springs Hospital.
Friends called Friday, Sept. 1 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home in Newark. Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 2 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Newark cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Mrs. Durfee was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Charles and Etta Crawford Mortford. She owned and operated a photography studio in Newark for 40 years with her husband, Kenneth. She was a member of the New York State Professional Photographers Association. Mrs. Durfee was a life member of the Park Presbyterian Church. She was a life member and past Matron of the Amitie Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a life member of the Newark Grange.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith (James) Walker of Savannah; three grandchildren, James Walker II, Jennifer (Ryan) Marriott and Michael Durfee; a great-grandson, Logan Marriott; two sisters, Dorothy Boynton of Newark and Evelyn Thraves of Sodus Point; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Durfee of Walworth; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Durfee of Newark and Jane Durfee of Illinois.
Mrs. Durfee was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, in 1988; a son, Marvin, in 1997; and two sisters, Gladys Garver and Ruth Krichhoff.

Anastasia J. Denison

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Anastasia Denison, 83, of Broad St., passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Friends called Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Patrick Funeral Home in Clifton Springs, where services followed. Burial was Wednesday, Aug. 23 in Riverview cemetery.
Friends may contribute to the Finger Lakes Community Cancer Center, or to the Clifton Springs Fire Department in Anastasia's memory.
Anastasia was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Clifton Springs, the daughter of Edward and Bernetta Lindner, and had lived in the area all of her life. She worked for the Clifton Springs Hospital for many years. Anastasia loved to spend her time with her family whom she adored. She will be sadly missed.
Anastasia is survived by her daughter, Ann Denison of Clifton Springs; sister, Jane Maslyn of Clifton Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1972; sisters, Sally and Margaret; and brother, Edward.

Gladys M. Edwards

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Gladys M. Edwards, 85, of Kendall Street, traveled to heaven Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006 at Clifton Springs Nursing Home.
There were no calling hours. A memorial service was Monday, Aug. 28 at the Clifton Springs Hospital Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Ontario County Humane Society.
Gladys was born June 20, 1921, in Hornell. She graduated from Haverling High School in 1939. She then received her registered nursing degree from Arnot-Ogden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She practiced nursing in several capacities, but spent the majority of her career caring for the employees of Garlocks in Palmyra. She and Raymond Edwards wed on July 4, 1967 and resided at 48 Kendall St. for many years.
She is survived by loving friends, who became family, Eileen, Michael, Michaela and Jack Tiffany of Phelps; sister, June Craig of Boulder, Colo.; five nephews and their wives, Paul (Holly) Craig of Sacramento, Calif., Bob (Karen) Craig of Boulder, Colo., Jef (Deb) Craig of Grass Valley, Calif., John (Keng-Lianghuang) Craig of Gainsville, Fla. And Bill (Chi) Craig of Westminster, Calif.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond in 1993; her father; her mother, Frances Hasselwander in 1985; her sister, Mary; and her niece, Sheila.

Olga Biletzky

FORT MEYERS, Fla./DUNDEE - Mrs. Olga Biletzky, 87, of Fort Meyers, Fla., and formerly of Dundee, where she had been a resident for many years before moving to Fort Meyers, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006 at Shell Point Retirement Village.
Friends called Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral followed at the funeral home. Father Mark Brewer, parochial administrator of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Community of Penn Yan, officiated. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery in Penn Yan.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or American Heat Association.
Olga was born Jan. 20, 1919, in New York City, the daughter of John and Theodora Stawnycza Blahun.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Christine Woodard-Decelles and Bernie Decelles of Fort Meyers, Fla.; one son, Stephen J. Biletzky of Phelps; two grandchildren, Eric Biletzky and Lisa Doyle; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen D. Biletzky; two sisters, Rose Siwak and Katherine Stasko; and one son-in-law, Paul Woodard.

Judith Anne Nedrow

CLIFTON SPRINGS - Judith Anne Nedrow, of 2855 County Road 4, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Highland Hospital, Rochester, surrounded by her loving family.
The family received friends on Friday, May 5 at the Seneca Castle Church lounge, followed by a memorial service at the Seneca Castle United Methodist Church in Seneca Castle. Burial will be in Whitney cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gynecologic Cancer Fund, University of Rochester, 125 Lattimore Road, Suite 258, Rochester 14620.
Judith was born Dec. 26, 1952, in Cortland, the youngest child of James V. and Arlene P. Nedrow. She was raised on the family farm at Lake Ridge, attended public schools in King Ferry and Lansing, and gradated from Clifton Springs High School. She attended Houghton College and graduated from Cornell University in 1975 with a major in animal science. Judith's most recent employment was with the Integrated Pest Management Program at Cornell University in Geneva, as a technical support specialist. She also had been employed by the Department of Entomology at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, the New York State Fruit Testing Cooperative Inc. in Geneva, the Farm Credit of Western New York in Canandaigua, and Old Fox Chemical in Waterloo. For many years Judith had operated her own business, DataTrak Solutions. She provided computer software support for agricultural related businesses and farmers across Western/Central New York.
Judy's zest for life was seen in everything she did. Her love for nature and animals was apparent in both her professional and personal life. She was an avid gardener and maintained beautiful gardens at her home. Family and friends held a special place in Judy's life. She cared deeply and gave generously of herself to others and she maintained a positive, joyous attitude throughout her life. Those close to her cherish many fond memories. Judy was a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethren and had a strong Christian faith.
Judith is survived by her siblings, Sharon Nedrow of Geneva, Dona (Alan) Soper of Stanley, J.Kevin (Barbara) Nedrow of Clifton Springs; her three nieces, Alicia Jo Nedrow of Fort Wayne, Inc., Katherine Lee Nedrow of Ithaca and Abby Kay Nedrow of Clifton Springs; many cousin; and several aunts and uncles.
She was predeceased by her father, James Nedrow, in 1992; and her mother, Arlene Nedrow, in 2006.

Gerald Hesbon

PHELPS - Gerald "Gerry" Hesbon, 87, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the House of John in Clifton Springs.
A memorial service was held Friday, May 5 at the United Church of Phelps and was officiated by the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau. Interment will be in Resthaven cemetery in Phelps.
Contributions may be made to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs 14432 or to charities of one's choice.
Gerald was born Nov. 27, 1918, in the town of Sweden, Monroe County. He and Mary Redder were married May 2, 1943, at her family home in Phelps where they lived.
Gerry was a World War II veteran of the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1946. Gerry attended public school and completed studies in Labor and Civil Law and Human Resources at the New York State Department of Labor Campus in Albany and Michigan State University. He retired from the New York State Department of Labor.
A longtime Rotary member and past president of Phelps Rotary Club, Gerry was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member of the Phelps American Legion, the United Church of Phelps, the Clifton Springs County Club and Phelps Historical Society. He was a past president of the Phelps PTA and Band Boosters and served on several advisory committees at Midlakes High School, Finger Lakes Community College and BOCES. He also served on the first Planning and Zoning Board in Phelps and was Neighborhood Commissioner of the Boy Scouts.
Gerry enjoyed camping in the Finger Lakes and on the St. Lawrence, fishing with his children and hunting with his sons. For many years, the entire family vacationed in Calabogie, Ontario, Canada. He loved the golf course for its natural beauty and the pleasure of golfing with many friends and his wife, Mary.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; their children and families, Jan Hesbon and his wife, Jo Becker, Barbara (James) Sanford, Rebecca Hesbon and Jeffrey Hesbon; grandchildren, Samantha (Sanford) and John Tumminelli and Tiffany Smith; one great-grandson, Jackson Carlos Tumminelli; his sister, Marjorie Newell; nieces, Shirley (Joseph) Miller and Alice (Kurt) Howell; cousins Betty (Robert) Hirr, Jerry (Elaine) Burch and Althea Knapp, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Doris M. Craig Reigle

WATERLOO - Doris M. Craig Reigle, 74, formerly of 4 Fayette St., passed away peacefully Sunday, April 30, 2006 at the Huntington Living Center.
Friends called Wednesday, May 3 at the Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc. in Seneca Falls. Funeral service followed at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Reigle's sons, Pastor Ralph Reigle of the Valois Community Church, and Pastor William Reigle II of the Phelps Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was at Troxelville cemetery in Pennsylvania.
Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Reigle to the Alzheimer's Association of Central New York, Cayuga County Coordinator, East Genesee St., Auburn 13021.
Doris was born in Waterloo, the daughter of Leslie and Inex Mosher Craig. She graduated from Waterloo High School, Class of 1951. Doris and William H. Reigle were married July 4, 1952, and celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary last year. Doris was a homemaker and enjoyed her crafts such as sewing, pillows, dolls and stuffed animals. She loved and enjoyed all of the children. She was a member of the Living Hope Assembly Church in Waterloo.
She is survived by her husband, William H. Reigle; two sons, Pastor Ralph (Sonia) Reigle of Ovid, and Pastor William (Annette) Reigle II, of Phelps; two daughters, Ruth (James) Reed of Pennsylvania, and Rebecca (Allen) Balch of Waterloo; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Sawyer; sister, Pearl Everhart; brothers, Richard Wetherbee and Bernard Wetherbee; and step-son, David Sawyer.
