Husner, William Edward - William Edward Husner, 80, of Lyons, died June 25, 1998 at his home. Mr. Husner was born in Lyons Dec. 31, 1917, the son of Edward and Anna Lutz Husner. He worked in his early years for the New York Central Railroad, and retired from the Newark Developmental Center as a cook. Mr. Husner was a veteran of World War II where he served in the army, and was a prisoner in Germany during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 5092 of Lyons, and the American Legion of Lyons. Interment in South Lyons cemetery. Mr. Husner is survived by four brothers, Carl of Lyons, Roy of Lock Berlin, George of Clyde, and Harry of Sodus; four sisters, Bertha Baker of Independence, MO, Mrs. Wilson (Dorothy) Keesler of Newark, Mrs. Michael (Anna) Salerno of Lyons, Mrs. Russell (Elizabeth) Moody of Spring Lake, NC; nieces and nephews.

Ketcham, Jane C. - Mrs. Ketcham, the former Elsie Jane Chase, died unexpectedly on June 12, 1998 in Seattle. She and her husband Alfred S. Ketcham M.D. were on an Alaskan tour celebrating their 52nd anniversary. Jane spent her first 21 years in Newark and was the daughter of Gilmer and Mildred Chase. She is survived by her husband; 6 children, 10 grandchildren.

Hironimus, Ronnie G. - Ronnie G. Hironimus, 51, died in Dover, Delaware. He was a teacher for 23 years, and was the Capital School District 1997 Teacher of the Year. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Schlagel Hironimus; brother, Larry of Marion; sister, Dawn Bothnell of Smyrna, DE.

Frederick, Joseph - Joseph Frederick, 73, of East Miller Street, Newark, died on June 28, 1998, at Genesee Hospital in Rochester. Mr. Frederick was born July 30, 1924 in Rochester, the son of Alfred and Louise Mosca. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1986. Joe was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and a member of the Newark Elks Lodge and the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW. He served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theater. Interment in the Newark cemetery. He is survived by his wife Ann (Cill) Frederick, son Joseph D. Frederick, a daughter Rozanne Frederick of Newark and a grandson Mark Frederick. Also surviving is a brother, Nicholas Frederick of Chicago, and nieces and nephews.

Deary, Gerald J. Sr. - Gerald J. Deary Sr., 57, of Savannah, died unexpectedly on June 26, 1998 at his residence. Mr. Deary was born in Seneca Falls on Nov. 8, 1940, son of the late George and Edna Miller Deary. He lived in Savannah for the past year, having moved from Newark. He had at one time been employed by Kleen Brite Lab of Brockport. Interment in St. Mary's cemetery, Waterloo. Mr. Deary is survived by his wife, Joyce Ingersoll Deary of Savannah, whom he married Nov. 24, 1959; two daughters, Tamie Deary of Clyde and Mrs. Carie (Michael) Kickbush of Medina; four sons, Gerald (Connie) Deary of Newark, Mark Deary of Clyde, Wayne Deary of Savannah, and Trevor Deary of Savannah; 12 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Jean (Robert) Duffy of Palatine, IL, Mrs. June (Merle) Hamon of Port Smith, NH, and Mrs. Gayle (Tom) Canull of Waterloo; three brothers, Frederick Deary of Seneca Falls, James Deary of Lantana, FL, and John (Mary) Deary of Coventry, RI; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters, Shirley DeJohn and Marian Smith.

Fecteau, Dorothy M. - Dorothy M. Fecteau, 74, of Gates/Newark, died on June 29, 1998. Dorothy was a member of the Women's Bowling League of Rochester for more than 20 years. Interment at Riverside cemetery Rochester. She is survived by her husband, LaVerne Fecteau of FL; her daughters, Catherine Salber of East Palmyra, and Dorothy Matteson; her sons, Donald Fecteau of FL and Thomas (Donna) Fecteau of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; one greatgrandson; her sister, Catherine Lambiase; her brother, Joseph (Fran) Crawford; many nieces and nephews.

Ritz, Eleanor M. - Eleanor M. Ritz, 74, of Wayne Center Road, South Sodus, died unexpectedly on June 28, 1998, at Via Health of Wayne at Sodus. Mrs. Ritz was born in Hamlin, NY, Feb. 3, 1924, a daughter of Andrew and Marie Flugel Ferris. She was a graduate of Brockport High School in 1942, an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lyons, and had been an area resident for over 40 years. Mrs. Ritz is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gustav; four sons, Douglas (Patricia) of South Sodus, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) of Kansas, Timothy of Lyons, and Daniel (Evelyn) of Newark; three grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Joan) Ferris of Florida, and James (Jan) Ferris of Hamlin; sister-in-law, Ruby Ferris of Rochester, several nieces and nephews.

Chamberlin, Rose Louise - Rose Louise Chamberlin, 88, of Dell Street, Newark, died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at her home. Mrs. Chamberlin was born in Batavia on November 7, 1909, daughter of Conrad and Rose Fetzer Schroth. Interment in Newark cemetery. She is survived by four sons, Donald, Robert, William (Edyie) of Newark, Richard (Melanie) of Rochester; two daughters, June Smith of Newark, and Jean (Leonard) Randow of Port Aransas, TX; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Lester) Beal of Newark, and Clarice Chamberlin of Dansville; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chamberlin was predeceased by her husband, Harold (Pike), Dec. 9, 1981.

Swartz, Kathleen H. - Kathleen H. Swartz, 38, of Newark, died Saturday, June 20, 1998 at Via Health of Newark. Kathleen was born in Newark on February 10, 1960, daughter of Gerald and Dorothy Vanderlycke Norrison. She had worked at IEC in Newark. She attended the Church of God in Newark. Kathleen is survived by Jerry, her husband of 20 years; three stepdaughters, Wendy Stapp of Kentucky, Lori Taney and Cheryl Swartz of Newark; her mother, Dorothy Norrison of Levinworth, KS; three sisters, Maria (Mark) Young of Clifton Springs, Vicky (James) Stewart and Jo Ann (Paul) Carabello of Newark; two brothers, Alan (Janet) Norrison, and Nelson (Belva) Norrison of Newark; several step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Shippers, Helen G. - Helen G. Shippers, 85, formerly of Wolcott, died Saturday, June 20, 1998 at Wayne County Nursing Home. Helen was born February 2, 1913, in Junius, the daughter of Eugene and Ethel Scott Groescup, and had lived in Wolcott for many years. She was retired from Hickok Manufacturing in Lyons, and was formerly a member of Wayne County Extension Program, Wolcott American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Wolcott Grange, and Wolcott Methodist Church. Interment at Restvale cemetery, Seneca Falls. Helen is survived by two sons, Eugene (Fan) Shippers of Newark and Lee (Teresa) Shippers of Wolcott; a daughter and friend, Karen Massaro and Robert Schaefer of Jeffersonville, NY; a sister, Joan (William) Pulcheon of Phelps; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Zeger, Ralph J. - Ralph J. Zeger, 78, of Sodus, died on June 19, 1998 at Myers Hospital, Sodus. Interment, Sodus Rural cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth; 3 children, Barbara (Daniel) DeRue, Gary (Mary) Zeger both of Sodus, Lorna Zeger of Port St. Lucie, FL; 5 grandchildren, Nicole and Adam DeRue, Christopher, James and Alexandra Zeger.

Roelands, Priscilla - Priscilla Roelands, 53, of Newark died Saturday, June 20, 1998 in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Interment in East Newark cemetery. Priscilla was predeceased by her husband, William Roelands in 1988, and her sister, Marion Barnes. She is survived by her son, Stephen (Julie) Roelands of Newark; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Roelands Bartel of Illinois; two brothers, Ed (Bonnie) Cooney of Newark and Roy (Judy) Cooney of Oklahoma; a sister, Barb Peters of Belfort, NY; one grandson, Jarrod Roelands; two stepgrandchildren, Ross and Beth Bartel; several neices and nephews and a very special friend, John Schoonerman of Newark.

Bundy, Leonard F. - Leonard F. Bundy, 72, of 2168 Brandt Road, Lot 6, Lyons, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. Mr. Bundy was born in Suffern, NY, March 12, 1926, son of the late Rev. Leon F.E. and Ida Haver Bundy. He resided in Lyons for most of his life. Mr. Bundy was retired from Sybron-Nalge of Rochester. Prior to that, he worked for 16 years at Parker-Hannifin in Lyons. Interment at the Butler Center cemetery. Mr. Bundy is survived by his wife, Alma Wunder Bundy of Lyons, whom he married April 9, 1982; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline (Gordon) Frezzell of Williston, VT, and Patricia Schneider of Penn Yan; two sons, William L. (Kim) Bundy of Arlington, TX, and Leonard (Colleen) Bundy Jr. of Greer, SC; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Frieda (Loren) Spencer of Lyons, and Mrs. Rita (John) Mitchinson of Newark: two stepsons, Louis O'Neil of Lyons, and Leon (Ann) O'Neil of Newark: 22 grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lottie L. Bundy in February of 1977; brother, Leonidas Bundy in August of 1987; and sister, Marjorie Switzer, in 1967.

Scrooby, Joseph M. Sr. - Joseph M. Scrooby Sr. of Marion, quietly entered into eternal rest at home on June 22, 1998 at age 81. Interment at Calvary cemetery. Predeceased by infant sons, Charles & Timothy. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Lottie (Urbanik) Scrooby; children, Joseph (Becky), Richard, Diane (Tom) Smith, Fred (Maureen), Gary (Thomas), Terry (Roxanne) Thomas (Susanne), Michael (Kimberly); 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Parkhouse and Leona Wehner; many nieces, nephews & friends.

Rielly, Jean O. - Jean O. Rielly, 74, of Washington Street, Newark, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at ViaHealth of Wayne at Newark. Mrs. Rielly was born in Utica, Dec., 7, 1923, daughter of Frederick and Louise Ebeling O'Dell. She worked in the office of Rando Machine Company in Macedon. She had lived in Newark for many years. Interment in Newark cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, William A., April 9, 1994. Mrs. Rielly is survived by nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and many friends.

Blake, Helen E. - Helen E. Blake, 84, of Geneva, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at the home of her son in Newark. Mrs. Blake was born May 31, 1914, in Bradford, NY, the daughter of the late Wendell and Lizzie W. Carr Runner. Mrs. Blake retired from the J.C. Penney Store in Geneva. She also owned and operated her own seamstress and monogramming business for several years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Geneva and of the Ruth Circle. Interment in Gorham cemetery.She was the widow of Harold Alfred Blake, who died in 1956. Mrs. Blake was also predeceased by her daughter, Joanne E. Wilkison in 1976, her sister, Mildred Lambert in 1963, and brother, Arthur Runner in 1972. Mrs. Blake is survived by two sons, Gerald A. (Victoria Smith) Blake of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kenneth E. (Lynda Akins) Blake of Newark; one son-in-law, Thomas H. Wilkison of Severn, MD; two grandchildren, Gerald Thomas Blake of Newark, and Andrew H. Wilkison of New Brunswick, NJ; two brothers, Francis (Clarabelle) Runner and Stewart Runner of Gorham, NY; one sister-in-law, Marge Runner of Stanley, NY; several nieces and newhews.

DeRue, Michelle Lynn - Michelle Lynn DeRue, 31, of Buffalo, died Saturday, June 13, 1998 at her parent's home after a brief illness. Michelle was born the daughter of Gerald and Mary Schoonerman DeRue on August 17, 1966 in Newark. She loved playing basketball and her picture hangs in the college where she attended for scoring over 1000 points. Michelle worked for Lighthart Sales in Buffalo, NY.Family and friends called Monday, June 15, at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc. Interment in Fairville cemetery. Michelle is survived by her parents, Gerald and Mary DeRue and brother David DeRue of Fairville; her sister, Eileen (Paul) Welker of Clifton Springs; her paternal grandmother, Carrie DeRue; her nephews Bradly and Ryan Welker; and three aunts.

Berard, Lena V. - Lena Verbridge Berard, 91, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Berard was born the daughter of Daniel and Katherine VanHaneghan Verbridge, August 3, 1906 in East Palmyra. She worked at C.H. Stuart Co. in Newark as a secretary for 34 years, retiring in 1967. Interment at East Newark cemetery. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmond Berard in 1984, and two brothers George and William Verbridge.

Bavis, Etta M. - Etta M. Bavis, age 85, died June 13, 1998. She was born in Walworth on September 7,1913 to Elmer and Sarah Smith Bristol. Mrs. Bavis was a retired Walworth Post Mistress. Interment in Furnaceville cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray in 1968. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Pam Bavis of Walworth; grandchildren, Angela Bavis of Columbia, SC and 2nd Lieutenant Jeffrey (Lara) Bevis, Fayetteville, NC; great-grandson, Matthew Bevis; a sister, Eva Bevis, Palmyra; several nieces and nephews.

McCartney, Richard L. - Richard L. McCartney, 71, of Lincoln Road, Newark, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998 at the Clifton Springs Hospital. Mr. McCartney was born May 7, 1927 in Clearfield, PA. Dick was a licensed practical nurse at the Newark Developmental Center for 29 years, retiring in 1981. He was member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lyons and was a member of the Odd Fellows in Newark. He served in the US Navy during World War II and with the Army Reserve in Newark for several years after the War. Interment in East Newark cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Doris (Wunder) of Newark, a daughter Sharon (Gary) Rothfuss of Palmyra and three grandchildren Charles Thomas, Heather Thomas and Marygrace Rothfuss. He was predeceased by his mother, Sarah Lois Shaffner on September 5, 1991.

Wilkes, Stella J. - Stella J. Wilkes, 68, of Canal Street, Lyons, died June 4, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Mrs. Wilkes was born in Newark, January 7, 1930, the daughter of Gilbert and Hazel VanNorman. She was a resident of Lyons for many years. Interment in South Lyons cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Lyell; a daughter, Clydette (Domingo) Gonzalez of Newark; two grandchildren, Antonio and Sierra Gonzalez; four sisters, Bonnie Larrios of Palmyra, Hazel Arnold of Lyons, Molly VanNorman of California, and Betty Flaherty of Plattsburgh; three brothers, Arthur VanNorman of Marion, Kenneth VanNorman of Sodus, and Gilbert VanNorman of Clyde: several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard VanNorman, and sisters, Lucinda Miles and Clydette VanNorman.

Phillips, Stanley A. - Stanley A. Phillips, age 86, of Marion, died June 6, 1998. Mr. Phillips was a retired Social Studies Teacher - three years in country school in Sterling, 19 years, Marion School System; and 13 years Fairport School System, where he was the head the Social Studies Dept. He was also President of NYS Council of Social Studies 1955-56. Interment in Marion cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Thelma VanAlstyne; two sons, Richard (Ruth) Phillips of Newark and Thomas (Deborah) Phillips of Marion; grandchildren, Kimberly Duncan, Dan and Lisa Phillips, Randall and Patty Phillips, Cori (Joe) Stapleton and Stacey Phillips; and five great-grandchildren.
