Napoleon, Louis "Ray" - Louis Raymond Napoleon, 57, of Frey Street, Newark, died March 24, 1998 at his home. Interment in Newark cemetery.Mr. Napoleon was born April 3, 1940 in Waterloo, the son of Frank P. and Louise Van Norman Napoleon. He served from 1957-60 in the Marine Corps. Ray was an owner-operator of a long-distance tractor trailer for over 32 years, recently leasing to Fleischer's Bagels and Newark Florist. From 1976-81 he was employed by C.H. Stuart Co., and was awarded District Driver of the Year in 1978 by Ryder Truck. Ray is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark.He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Caren (Bain) Napoleon; children, Lewis Raymond (Caroline Mills) Napoleon of Palmyra, Kathleen (Dean) Baker of Marion, Carl F. (Kay VanNoy) Napoleon of Farmington, Christopher (fiance Amy Grant) Napoleon of Newark and Raeanne L. Napoleon at home; three grandchildren, Kasie, Korie and Tyler Baker. Also surviving are a brother Dan Napoleon of Marion and three half sisters, Norma Crockford, Charlotte Bradley and Ruth Clark, all of Florida. He is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Frank "Bugsy" Napoleon.

Bliek, Susie E. - Susie E. Bliek, 84, of Marion died March 24, 1998. Interment Marion cemetery.She was predeceased by her husband, Peter A. Bliek. Survived by two daughters, Suzanne Stresing of Mentor, OH, Johanna (Douglas) Williams; two sons, Elwin (Marian) Bliek, Donald (Mary) Bliek, LaVerne (Toni) Bliek all of Marion; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Interment Woodlawn cemetery, Canandaigua.

Beeman, David M. - David M. Beeman, 57, of Palmyra, died March 23, 1998 following a long illness. David was an Army Vietnam Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Crystal of Walworth; sons, Martin of PA and David, Jr. of Macedon; daughters, Marsha and Joy of Florida; four grandchildren; brother, Richard of Palmyra.

Stewart, DeLores - DeLores Stewart, 89, of Marion died on March 11, 1998 in DeMay Living Center. She was a 45 year retiree of Gannett, retiring in 1973. Interment in Holy Sepulchre cemetery.

King, Ruth M. - Ruth M. King, 82, of Phelps died Friday, March 13, 1998 at home after a long illness. Ruth was born Oct. 13, 1915 in the Town of Hopewell, daughter of Harry and Anna Penner, and had lived in this area all her life. She was a member of the United Church of Phelps, and the Plainsville Alumni Association. Ruth enjoyed sewing.She is survived by three sons, Dennis (Nancy) King of Phelps, Charles (Mary) King of Phelps, William King of Phelps; a stepson, Thomas (Rosley) King of Northville, N.Y.; a sister, Helen Decker of Newark; a brother, Elwood (June) Renner of Newark; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Harry in 1976; and a sister, Edna VandenBussche.

Buckley, Patricia J. - Patricia "Patte" J. Buckley, died on March 12, 1998, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Olney, Illinois, on January 9, 1924, to Harold and June Pullar. She married George A. Buckley on June 7, 1947, in Beverly, Illinois. She attended Stephens College in Missouri and graduated from the University of Wisconsin -- Madison. Her professional life included teaching, social work, and volunteering. She and her family lived in Newark from 1969-1979, and Patte taught grade school in Lyons. She was very active at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Newark, volunteering thousands of hours over the years. Patte's life will continue to be celebrated by people who were "touched" by her presence in their lives. One of her greatest pleasures was spending each summer at her family's cottage on Lake Eau Claire, Augusta, Wisconsin, surrounded by family and friends. And among her proudest accomplishments were teaching nearly 100 children to water ski, and water skiiing, herself, at age 70.She is survived by her husband, George, Orland Park, IL; her sons, Buck (Laurel), Evanston, IL; George Jr. (Skip), Streamwood, IL; her daughters, Suzi (Chet) Wisniewski, Lockport, IL; Marne Buckley, Augusta, WI; her grandchildren, Chad Murphy, Worth, IL; Sophie Buckley, Evanston, IL; her sisters, Kay Grootemaat, Naples, FL; Bubbie Jackson, Hot Springs, FL; her sisters-in-law, Marge (Arthur) West, Wilmette, IL; Betty (Bud) Sundstrom, Palos Park, IL; beloved nephews and nieces, and countless dear friends.

Dye, Gerald R. - Gerald R. Dye, 53, of Williamson, died on March 13, 1998. He was an employee of Xerox Corporation and a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Preston) Dye; sons Matthew (Lisa) Dye of East Williamson, Kelly (Susan) Dye of Newark; daughter Laurel Dye-Schultz (Bruce) of Sodus; stepson, Kenneth (Natalie) Lautner Jr. of Spring Valley, CA; stepdaughter, Deborah (Scott) Carpenter of Pittsford, 4 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Vallon (Barbara) Dye of Bayard, NM, George (Diane) Dye of Denver City, TX; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Israel, Frances Irene - Frances Irene Israel, 76, of Newark, died Saturday, March 14, 1998 in Wayne County Nursing Home. Born in Clyde on May 1, 1921, to John and Mary Marchione Catall, she worked in the office at Comstock Foods in Newark for 29 years. She had lived on Moore Street and at 200 E. Miller St. She was a member of St. Michael's Church and its Altar and Rosary Societies. In earlier years, she was a member of St. John's Church, Clyde. She is survived by her nephews, John (Melissa) Catall of Birmingham, AL and Bernie (Lisa) Catall of Atlanta. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter, in 1988; and a brother, John "Moe" Catall, in 1995.

Michael, Frank A. - Frank A. Michael, 83, died in Canandaigua VA Hospital on March 12, 1998. Interment in Sodus Rural cemetery at a later date. He was predeceased by his wives, Ruth and Doris; children, Pamela Pike, Patricia Loucks, Clifford Herman; grandson, Guy Loucks and sister Eleanore Bell. He is survived by his children, James (Ingrid) Michael, Francine (Merle) Russell, Zaida Bruno, Donald (Dorothy) Herman, Keith (Janet) Herman, Gail Rivers; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; his brother Warren (Marie) Michael; son-in-law Charles Loucks, daughter-in-law Naida Herman; brother-in-law Charles Bell; several nieces.

Turner Sr., Leon, M. - Leon M. Turner, Sr., 72 of Sodus, died at his home on March 12, 1998. Interment Franklin Heights Memorial Park in Lehighton, PA. Mr. Turner was predeceased by his wife Fern in 1984, and daughter Shirley in 1954. He is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Gay of Martville, Barbara Griffiths of Lyons; 6 sons, Richard of Marion, Henry of Rose, Barry and Gary of Sodus, Leon Jr. of Ontario, Randy of Newark; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; one sister; special friends who cared for Leon father and took him under their wings, Jug and Betty Husner of Sodus.

Bailey, Maurice E. - Maurice E. Bailey, 80, of Rochester, formerly of Lyons, died on March 16, 1998 after an extended illness.Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; son, Robert (Debra) of MO; daughter, Judith (Thomas) Newcomb of Rochester; 6 grandchildren; 5 brothers, Donald (Marion) of Tuxedo Park, NY, Floyd (Vivian) of FL, Harlan (Shirley) of TX, Harry of Lyons, Lynden (Carol) of Lyons; sister-in law, Leona Bailey of Clyde; brother-in-law, John Talbo of Newark.

Mason, Leona B. - Leona B. Mason, 88 of Marion died on March 16. She was a retired Marion teacher, a graduate of Brockport and Oswego State, and a member of the United Church. Interment in East Palmyra cemetery. She was born Dec. 30, 1909 in Wolcott, to William and Georgianna Kyle Bigelow. She was predeceased by husbands Kenneth W. Mason and Leon S. Mason and a son William Mason. She is survived by daughters, Margaret Zullo of East Islip, and Wilma Johnson of Marion; son Victor Mason of Marion; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Bruce Durand; other nieces and nephews.

Tansley, Rita - Rita Tansley, 73, formerly of Newark, died Monday, March 16, 1998 at the Wayne-County Nursing Home. Mrs. Tansley was born in Rochester, the daughter of Arthur and Frances Martin Bettner. She was the widow of Dr. Evan Tansley, who died March 28, 1966. Interment will be in East Newark cemetery.

Tantalo, Carol, A. - Carol A. Tantalo, 64, of Ontario, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at her home. She was born in Newark on November 28, 1933, daughter of Carl and Mary Cornell Reeves. She retired from Xerox Company in Webster. Interment will be in Webster Union cemetery. Carol is survived by two brothers, Richard Reeves of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and Carl Reeves of Sodus Point; one sister, Darlene Frymark of Hewlitt, Texas; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 1977.

Sipple, LaVerne (Bill) - LaVerne Sipple, formerly of Penfield, died March 16, 1998. He worked as a volunteer at the Rochester Rehalibation Center (a division of the Al Sigl Center) for 15 years. He was a former member of Penfield Vol. Fire Co., Penfield Exempt Firemen, Penfield First Baptist Church, was member of the Penfield Rotary Club, and former committee member of the Boys Scouts of America and Penfield Little League.He is survived by his wife Alvah (Dolly) Sipple; children, Charles (Vicki) Sipple of MI, Beth (Gerry) Palmer of Newark, Scott (Marilese) Sipple of Ontario; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.

Rease, George P. - George P. Rease, 73, of Port Gibson, died Saturday, March 7, 1998 in the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital.Mr. Rease was born in Lyons on March 3, 1925, the son of George P. and Augusta De Weaver Rease, Sr., he was a Walworth area resident for many years, before moving to Port Gibson 14 years ago. For most of his career, he was in the heating and plumbing business, retiring in 1990. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and member of the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW. George was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newark. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Interment in East Newark cemetery.He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth; sons, Stephen of Newark, Gary (Vickie) of Gananda, Daniel (Pamela) of Newark; daughters, Katheryn of Newark, Nancy (William) Schrader of Newark, and Jennifer (Edward) Weykman. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Brown, Ward - Ward Brown, 84, of Port Gibson, died on March 4, 1998 at Clifton Springs Hospital.Mr. Brown was born July 19, 1913, in Flint, the son of Frank and Lena Brown, and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the Village of Palmyra, after which he worked in laundries in Palmyra and Newark, and did farming and truck driving. Interment in Port Gibson cemetery.He is survived by his wife of 43 years, M. Elaine Brown, one sister, Edna Reese of Clifton Springs; brother, Jay Brown of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

Claeys, Ceriel - Ceriel Claeys, 83, of Fillmore Street, died on March 6, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Born Dec. 1, 1914, in Macedon to Andrew and Leona De Blaeye Claeys, he was a farmer for many years. For 16 years he worked in the maintenance department of Newark Developmental Center, retiring in 1973. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Interment in Newark cemetery.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bertha Hamelinck Claeys; a daughter, Berniece (Elwyn) Meyers of Texarkana, Texas; grandsons, David, Michael and Steven Meyers; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Melissa, Liam. Benjamin, Zachary and Brandon; brothers, Robert of Bath, Raymond De Pauw of Sanford, Fla., and Wilber De Pauw of Newark; nieces and nephews.

Humbert, Beryl T. - Mrs. Beryl T. Humbert died on March 5, 1998 at Rochester General Hospital.Mrs. Humbert was born in Newark, the daughter of A. Ross and Lucinda Ellis Thomas. She was a life resident of the area and had lived at DeMay Living Center for two years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Lyons. She graduated from Newark High School, worked at Woolworth's in Newark, at Lyons Community Hospital and Park Bakery in Lyons. Interment in South Lyons cemetery.Surviving are her son Ernest C. Humbert of Lyons, and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest A. Humbert in 1984.

Burger, Donald M. - Donald M. Burger, 55, died at his Sodus Point home, March 7, 1998. He was First Assistant Chief in the Sodus Point Fire Department and had been an avid volunteer fireman since 1961. He was a member of the Electrical Workers Local No. 86 of Rochester, the Buckmasters, and the North American Hunting Club.He is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, Michael Mosher of Ontario, Mark (Carol) Mosher of Honolulu, HI; step-sons, Thomas Shirtz and Terry Kallusch, both of Sodus Point; step-daughters, Traci (Randy) Fillmore of Sodus and Tami (Steve) Knowlton of Rochester; three grandsons; two step granddaughters; mother, Eva Burger of Sodus Point; sisters, Nancy (Alan) Cook of Sodus Point, Sally (Jerry) Billington of Newark; nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews; friends, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Schommer, Ronald G. - Ronald G. Schommer, 85, of Lincoln, died Sunday, March 8, 1998. Spring interment at the Union Hill cemetery.Mr. Schommer was predeceased by wives, Emily (Arney) and Julia (Poulter) and son, Duane. He is survived by son, Nelson (Cheryl), Palmyra; daughter, Marlene (Robert) Chatterson, Marion; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Schommer, Greece; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews; step-daughter, Joyce (Cal) DeWitt, Dresden; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

O'Neil, Laura A. - Laura A. O'Neil, 100, of the Wayne County Nursing Home, died on March 8, 1998. Interment in Baptist Rural cemetery.She is survived by sons, Patrick (Bev) of Sodus, James (Alma) of Ontario, Norman (Betty) of Williamson; daughter, Frances (Mike) Cole of Gastonia, NC; 18 grandchildren; 32 great- grandchildren.
