VanHall, Jacob H. - Jacob H. VanHall, 96, of Marion died September 27, 1998 in DeMay Living Center, Newark. Interment in Marion cemetery. Jacob was a retired farmer and was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Zonneville. He is survived by his son, Elmer (Betty) VanHall of Newark; 3 grandchildren, Steven and Pam VanHall of Palmyra, James (Nancy) VanHall of White Cloud, Michigan; daughter, Yvonne (Timothy) Lead of Newark; 7 great-grandchildren.

Gilkeson, William H. - William H. Gilkeson, 80, of W. Union Street, died September 27, 1998, at Via Health, Newark. Mr. Gilkeson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, September 27, 1918, the son of Harold and Margaret Gadle Gilkeson. He served in the Army in World War II. Mr. Gilkeson was a resident of Newark for many years.Interment at the Newark cemetery. He is survived by a brother, David Gilkeson of St. Paul, Minn.; sister Virginia Hall of Rochester; nieces and nephews; and close friends, the Thomas Dutcher family of Newark.

Bloomer, Kenneth W. - Kenneth W. Bloomer, 41, of North Rose, died in Strong Memorial Hospital on September 25, 1998. He suffered injuries in an automobile accident. Mr. Bloomer was employed by the Town of Ontario as a water treatment plant operator. Mr. Bloomer is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, Eric and Matthew; step-father, Thomas Rittenhouse of Wolcott; sisters, Kerry Bernstein of Queens, and Melissa Bloomer of Newark; brothers, Keith Bloomer of Clyde, Kelly Rittenhouse of South Butler, Kris Rittenhouse of Wolcott, Charles Bloomer of Newark, Franklin Bloomer of Clyde; father-in-law, James L. Randall of North Rose; sisters-in-law, Beverly Randall Garrison of Rochester and Barbara Randall of Blossvale, ; brother-in-law, James Lee Randall of North Rose; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nittolo, A. James - A. James Nittolo, 50, of Newark, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Clifton Springs Hospital following a brief illness. Jim was born July 1, 1948 in Newark. He was currently employed at Abram Cleason Company. Jim was a member of the Newark Fire Department (Arcadia Hose Company), Newark Elks Club and Sons of the American Legion. He had served as a member of the Wayne County Sheriffs Patrol Division as well as several police departments. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara (Baran); son, Todd of Newark; mother, Hazel of Newark; sister, Judy (John McCarthy) of Rochester; several uncles, aunts, cousins and many close friends. Jim's father Frank died in 1993.

Melendez, Florence L. - Florence Melendez, 83, of Shortsville, died on September 18, 1998 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mrs. Melendez was a nurse's aide at the Canandaigua V.A. Medical Center and at the Newark Developmental Center. Interment in the Rose Ridge cemetery of Naples. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Donley of Newark; sons, Terry Williamson (fiancee Kim Jones) of Shortsville and Thomas Estey; two sisters, Evelyn Miller of Dundee and Helen Miles of Rushville; nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband.

Boehmler, Robert - Robert Boehmler, 83, of Sisson Street, Lyons died at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus on Monday, September 21, 1998. Mr. Boehmler was born in Lyons on February 2, 1915, a son of Albert and Sarah Graf Boehmler. He was a graduate of Lyons and received his music teaching degree at Ithaca College. He taught in the Palmyra-Macedon School District for many years. He is survived by many friends in Wayne County. Interment at the Rural cemetery.

Schoonerman, Frances - Frances Schoonerman, 85, of Marion died on September 21, 1998. Interment Marion cemetery. O.E.S Services were held on Wednesday. Frances is survived by her daughter, Carol (Gary) Hopkins, Hempstead, NC; grandson, Todd Hopkins, Olean; sister, Thelma "Pat" (Wayne) Williamson of Sodus Point; brother, Lloyd (Thelma) Haak of Pultneyville; sister-in law, Inez Gaskin of Pittsford; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ivan Schoonerman.

Taylor, Lois D. - Lois D. Taylor, 57, of Newark, died September 20, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Robert; four sons, Daniel, Douglas (Linda), Donald (Chris) and Dale; father, Melvin Dickinson of Palmyra; and five grandchildren. Lois was predeceased by son David and daughter Diane.

Ross, Jeffery T. - Jeffery T. Ross, 42, of Prospect St. Newark, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 22, 1998. Mr. Ross was born Feb. 29, 1956, in Newark, the son of Lewis and Nancy (Goetzman) Ross, Jr. Jeffery worked for Kodak in Rochester, where he was a quality control technician. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Jeff loved baseball and was an ardent Yankee fan. Interment in East Newark cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (DeJohn) Ross; a daughter, Jennifer Ross; a son, Michael Ross; and granddaughter, Allessandra Meehan, all of Newark; parents, Lewis and Nancy; two sisters, Sharon (Michael) Concert and Stephanie (Roy) Raup; several nieces and nephews, all of Newark; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Stanton, Lester N. - Lester N. Stanton, 81, of Ellerton, FL and Walworth, died September 22, 1998 at home after an extended illness. He was a farmer, a retiree of The American Can Company, and served as a member of the Marion School Board for many years. He and his wife Helen retired to Florida in 1972, where he maintained a lifelong interest in sailing, golf, cattle and crop farming. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Helen Paige; sons, Robert (Mary) of Walworth, Paige (Karen) of Marion, David (Fran) of Ontario; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Golden, Grace R. - Grace R. Golden, age 70, formerly of Newark, died in GRHCA at St. Mary's Hospital on September 12, 1998. Interment Sodus Rural cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dewey; 4 children, Valerie (John) L'huillier of Richmond, VA, Rosalie Nealon and special friend, Larry VanDamme of Sodus, Natalie (Edward) Scribner of Newark, Steven (Christina) Golden of Dover, DE; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; her father, George Privatera of Eden, NY; 2 brothers, Giro (Sally) Privatera of Colonial Heights, VA and Charles (Vera) Privatera of North Collins, NY; several nieces and nephews.

McCleery, Marjorie - Marjorie McCleery, of Franklin, PA, formerly of Sodus, died June 26, 1998 in Franklin.

Dobbelaere, Hazel M. - Hazel M. Dobbelaere 87, of Marbletown Road, died Tuesday, September 15, 1998 at the her home. Mrs. Dobbelaere was born January 4, 1911 in Lyons, the daughter of Carl and Winifred Shaw Ormsbee. She retired from Hallagan Mfg., where she had worked for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been an active member of the Newark Fire Department Auxiliary. Interment in Newark cemetery. She is survived by her daughter Sandra (John) Stockton of Rochester, a stepson Robert (Mary) Dobbelaere of Sodus Point; five grandchildren, Kelly Stockton, Tracy Juda, Christen Kennedy, Carie and Jeffery Dobbelaere; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Michael Kennedy, also a niece and nephew. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1994 and by a brother Carl Ormsbee and sister Bernice Ormsbee.

Dorst, Adrienne H. - Adrienne H. Dorst, 84, of 44 Sheraton Dr., Ithaca, died Sunday, September 13, 1998 at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Lula Pray Hougham and wife of the late Rev. Frederick W. Dorst who was the former Rector of St. Mark's Church in Newark. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Ithaca. Mrs. Dorst is survived by her son, Frederick W. Dorst of Richmond, VA; daughter, Martha D. Monske of Seaside Park, NJ; four granddaughters, Anne Monske, Katherine Monske, Sara Plumb and Kaitlyn Dorst; sister, Lucile Carlyon Davis of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Adrienne was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Mills and Ruth Sanderson.

Foster, Mildred M. - Mildred M. Foster, 87, of Heath St., Newark died Sept. 4, 1998 at Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Mrs. Foster was born in Old Forge on Aug. 23, 1911, the daughter of George and Grace Parrish McDougall. She was a bookkeeper for McDougall's Garage in Newark. Mrs. Foster was predeceased by her husband, Ellsworth J. in 1972. Interment in Newark cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. LaVerne (Barbara) Krebbeks of Newark; a sister, Marion Feiock of Newark; two grandchildren, Ted G. and Laurie L. Krebbeks: one greatgrandson, Ed Krebbeks: nieces and nephews.

Blake, Margaret M. (Maggie) - Margaret M. (Maggie) Blake, 42, of Van Auken Road, died at Strong Memorial Hospital, Saturday, August 29, 1998 as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Newark-Marion Road. Maggie was born to George and Phyllis Feller Spiegel, March 4, 1956 in Great Neck, Long Island. She was employed at City Mattress in Penfield. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Patrick Blake; her father, and stepmother George and Barbara Spiegel of Long Island; brother, Eric Spiegel of Long Island; several nieces and nephews and a community of friends who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her mother, Phyllis, and her brother Fred Spiegel.

Howard, Whitney Harrison - Whitney Harrison Howard, 74, of Edgett St., Newark, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, peacefully at his daughter's home in Clifton Springs. Mr. Howard was born to Harrison and Myrtle Parker Howard on Oct. 4, 1923 in Newark. He retired from Cohber Press in Henrietta where he worked as a printer. The funeral home proudly flies the Marine Corps flag in honor of Mr. Howard's service to our country during WWII. Interment in Riverview cemetery, Clifton Springs. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Margaret Cheeseman Howard; son, Mark Howard of Arizona; daughters, April Howard of North Tonawanda and Cynthia (Rodney) Ver Dow of Clifton Springs. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Howard DuRei in 1992.

Iocco, James M. - James M. Iocco, 78, of Iocco Road, Savannah, died at the Newark Campus of ViaHealth on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998. Mr. Iocco was born in Savannah and was a retiree of Fold-Pak of Newark. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Harper Iocco; four daughters, Vicky (Ron) Harrington and Laurie (Scott) Anderson all of Pulaski, Cindy (Tony) Castellano of Clyde and Trudy (David) Chapman of Attica, as well as, eight grandchildren.

Ferguson, Helen G. - Helen G. Ferguson of Carrollton, TX, formerly of Newark, died Friday, September 4, 1998, at her home in Carrolton. Mrs. Ferguson was born to Peter and Mary (Mullin) Gresgen on July 7, 1911 in Utica, NY. Helen was a graduate of Oswego State Teachers College. For 38 years, she taught 4th grade in the Newark School District; she retired in 1974. A communicant of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Carrollton and St. Michael Catholic Church in Newark, she was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society and the Legion of Mary. Helen was an avid bridge player, belonging to several bridge clubs over the years. Interment in the Newark cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann (Doug) Josvoll of Carrollton, TX; son, John (Jan) Ferguson of Newark; two grandchildren, Kristin Josvoll and Bree Ferguson; sister, Gertrude Farrell of Melbourne, FL, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, in 1977 and a son, Michael, in 1975.

Jones, Charles H. - Charles H. Jones of W. Maple Ave., Newark, died Friday, September 4, 1998, at the DeMay Living Center, Newark. Mr. Jones was born Nov. 21, 1910 to James and Lulu Hopkins Jones. He was a papermaker at Bloomer Bros. for 43 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Interment in East Newark cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Grace (Soper) Jones and several nieces and nephews.

Caruso, Fannie - Fannie Caruso, 82, of Fairport, formerly of Newark, died September 7, 1998, in Rochester. Mrs. Caruso was born in Newark May 9, 1916, daughter of Anthony and Madeline Nardozzi Furfaro. She worked for many restaurants; the last one was Infantino's Restaurant on Lake Avenue in Rochester as a hostess. She had lived in Fairport and Rochester for the last 30 years. She attended St. Michael's Church in Newark in her earlier years. Interment in Newark cemetery. Mrs. Caruso is survived by two sons, Ralph Anthony of Henrietta and Anthony Joseph (Linda) of Newark; three grandsons, Anthony J. Jr., and Gino A. of Newark, Ralph A. of South Bend, IN; two sisters, Gloria Galtieri of Newark, Peggy DeCola of Geneva; two brothers, John Furfaro of Rochester, Jerry Furfaro of Newark; nieces and nephews.

Courtney, Mary J. - Mary J. Courtney, 77, of Phelps, died on September 7, 1998, in Waterloo. Mrs. Courtney was born in Newark, July 1, 1921, the daughter of the late Edward and Emma Leader Courtney. She had resided in Phelps for 25 years, having moved from Clifton Springs. She was retired from the New York Telephone Company. She was a member of the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, Clifton Springs, and a member of the New York Telephone Company Pioneers, Newark. Interment in Riverview cemetery, Clifton Springs. She is survived by three stepdaughters, Mrs. Elaine (Edward) Williams of Savannah, Mrs. Linda (Edward) Shaffer and Mrs. Karen (Daniel) Cataldi of Lyons; two stepsons, William (Barbara) Courtney of Hamburg, NY, and Ronald (Linda) Courtney of Victor; several step grandchildren; dear friend, Lawton "Rebel" Key of Waterloo; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Rasch, in 1962; second husband, Harry Courtney, in 1990; brother, Richard Johnson, in 1954.

Reynolds, Richard G. - Richard G. Reynolds, Sr., 80, of Palmyra, died on September 8, 1998. He was predeceased by his wife, Caroline Reynolds. Survived by a son, Richard Reynolds, Jr.; 3 daughters, Judith (Thomas) Ruff, Elaine (Jim) Gamble, and Michelle ("Mick") (Robert) Brennan; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harold (Arlene) Reynolds, John (Lena) Reynolds; sister Mary (Fred) Donaldson; and many nieces and nephews.
