She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Leo) Fletcher of Sodus; son, Elmer (Loraine) Buyck of Lyons; two grandsons, James (Karen) Buyck and Jeffery (Lisa) Fletcher, both of Sodus; two great-grandsons, Jason and Andrew Buyck; sister, Dorothy Hendricks of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Adriaansen of Newark and Cornelia (Kate) Buyck of Marion; brother-in-law, Frank (Irene) Buyck, Marion.

Starr, Beatrice M. - Beatrice M. Starr, 94, died Friday, October 16, 1998 at Genesis ElderCare Pleasant View Center, Concord, New Hampshire. She was born in New York State and lived there all her life until going to live with her daughter, Barbara Ryerson, several years ago. Interment at Rest Haven cemetery in Phelps. Mrs. Starr is survived by her daughter Barbara and son-in-law, Richard P. Ryerson of Hopkinton, NH; four grandchildren, Starr (Grover) Daniels of Lincoln, MA, Richard (Michelle) Ryerson of Lebanon, NH, Ann and (Chris) Garrett of Concord, NH., and Tom (Christine) Ryerson of Pembroke, NH; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband E. Paul Starr who died in 1972.

Hendricks, Viola Bramer - Viola Bramer Hendricks of Lyons, age 89, died on September 25, 1998. Interment in the Elmwood cemetery, Rt. 14N, Lyons. Wilcox, Benjamin F. Jr. (PapaBnjamin F. Wilcox Jr. of Sodus, 89, died on October 15, 1998 in Blossom View Nursing Home. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn (residing at DeMay Living Center in Newark); five daughters, Dolores (Kenneth) Kraemer of Ontario, Nancy Amo of Penfield, Kathleen (Roger) Mastowski of Rochester, Bette (Forbes) Willett of N. Fort Myers, FL, Barbara Verge of Sodus; also, Diane (Thomas) Lachlusa, Beverly (Angelo) Mancine and Christine (James) Aquilina; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bette Pfannkuchen of Bath.

Schwartz, Earl Henry - Earl Henry Schwartz, 68, died October 12, 1998 at Rochester General Hospital. A resident of Newark, Mr. Schwartz was born September 2, 1930 in Newark and was the son of Earl C. and Elizabeth Schwartz. He attended Newark Jr. and Senior High School. Served in the US Army in Korea. He worked at Fold-Pak Corp. of Newark until his retirement. Mr Schwartz was a long-time member of the Newark First Methodist Church. He is survived by a brother Mel of Danbury, CT, sister Jacqueline of FL, Aunt Hazel Smith of Newark and several cousins. Honoring his wishes, there was a cremation.

Wheeler, Leon R. - Leon R. Wheeler, 63, of Newark, died on October 19, 1998, at Clifton Springs Hospital. Mr. Wheeler was born July 16, 1935 in Geneva, the son of LeRoy and Pauline Wheeler. He retired from the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital in 1976, where he was a nursing assistant. Leon graduated from Community College of the Finger Lakes in 1980 with a degree in Human Resources. He was a member and past master of the Newark Masonic Lodge #83 and had been District Deputy in the Wayne District in 1991-92 and 1996-97. Leon was a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves in Rochester. Interment in Riverview cemetery, Phelps. Leon is survived by his wife of 40 years, Esther (Lashway) Wheeler; daughter, Sheri Wheeler of Spencer, NY and son, Christopher (Jocelyn) Wheeler of Anderson, SC; three grandchildren; sister, Barbara Sher of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, nephews, cousins.

Lucieer, Shirley - Shirley V. Lucieer of Marion, 65, died October 20, 1998. Interment in Marion cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Erin Kearns, Webster; son, Scott (Victoria) Lucieer, Rochester; grandchildren, Nicole Lucieer, Jessica (Jerome) Gay, Nolan and Elizabeth Kearns, Marshall and Christopher Bertram; great-grandchildren, Kyle Lucieer and Damian Gay; many dear friends and relatives.

Withey, Alvira - Alvira D. Withey of Marion, 68, died on October 19, 1998. Interment in Marion cemetery. She is survived by her husband Marion (Red) Withey; two daughters, Sheri (David) Schinsing and Susan (Brian) Cornelius; son, Michael (Tracy) Withey, all of Marion; grandchildren, Jenelle, Jeniffer, Tara and Scott; brother, Ralph Siglin of Rock Hill, SC. Predeceased by a brother, George Siglin.

Schultz, Roger - Roger Edwin Schultz, 87, died on October 20, 1998 at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark campus. Mr. Schultz was born June 11, 1911 in New Windsor, NY, the son of Floyd and Georgia Fitzgerald Schultz. He had worked for many years as a pump operator for the Elizabethtown Water Company in Elizabethtown, NJ, retiring in 1976. In his retirement, he moved to Marco Island, Florida. He came to the Newark area three years ago and was a member of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Interment in St. Mark's Memorial Garden. He is survived by Beatrice, his wife of 64 years; a son and daughter-in-law Ed and Mickey Schultz of Dundee (formerly of Newark); grandchildren, Erica (Michael) McKinney and Griffin (Amy) Schultz; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Sean McKinney.

Greule, Florence A. - Florence Alice Greule, 87, of Newark, died on October 8, 1998 at the DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Greule was the daughter of George and Minna Beal Young, born June 17, 1911 in East Palmyra. She was a graduate of Palmyra High School and Clifton Springs School of Nursing. She retired from Newark-Wayne Community Hospital in 1981, where she worked as the obstetrical nursing supervisor. Mrs. Greule was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Marion), Richards Chapter. She was a member of the Board of Directors for the Newark-Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Interment in Newark cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald F. Greule; daughters, Joan and Jane Greule of Newark; daughter-in-law Kathleen Greule of Willard; grandchildren, Donald E. (Yvonne) Greule of Willard, and Bethann (Frank) Selice of Rochester; great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Katlin and Donald R. Greule. She was predeceased by her son Donald R. Greule in 1992.

Forsay, Eva - Eva Forsay, 84, of Lyons died Monday, October 12, 1998. Friends called at the Norton Funeral Home in Sodus. Interment in Baptist Rural cemetery.She is survived by two sisters, Beulah Adams of Palmyra and Beatrice Voley of Lyons; sister-in-law, Cora Pentycofe of Port Gibson, nieces and nephews.

Bannatyne, James Allan - James Allen Bannatyne, Sr., 75, of E. Miller Street, Newark died on October 12, 1998 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mr. Bannatyne was born in Clyde on February 26, 1923, son of James and Alice Crandell Bannatyne. He had worked at Rus-Pak in Lyons and at Seneca Foods in Newark. He was a member of August Mauer Post 286 of the American Legion in Newark and a former member of the American Legion in Lyons. Mr. Bannatyne was an Army veteran, having served in World War II. He had lived in Lyons for 35 years and also in Clyde and Newark. Interment in East Newark cemetery with full military honors accorded. Survivors include his beloved companion of 25 years, Bertha Stell; four daughters, Deanne Giljam of Tennessee, Della Cooper and Dorothy Baker of Lyons, Deborah Young of Clyde; son, James Jr. of Port Gibson; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; close friends, Nancy VanDenBeckens, Betty Hunter and Arthur Stell.

Wigent, Jeff - Jeff Wigent, 37, formerly of Alton, died October 13, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his parents, Ethel and Roy Wigent (Little W) of Alton; sisters, Becky (Terry) Brown of Alton; Rose Marie Wigent of Buffalo; half brothers and sisters, Charlotte Parker of FL; Jim (Donna) Parker of Hornell; Tom Parker of Sodus Center; Paul Parker of Sodus Point; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; special friends, Mel and Irene Roger of Las Vegas.

Miller, Jack Dale - Jack Dale Miller, infant son of Carolyn and Timothy Miller of Fairport, died on Octboer 7, 1998. Jack Dale is survived by two brothers, Jacob and Jordan Miller; maternal grandparents, Sue and Dale VerPlank of Marion; paternal grandparents Donna and Thomas Murphy; paternal grandparents Sheri and David Miller of Sodus; great-grandparents; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Furman, Harris R. Sr. - Harris R. Furman Sr., 95, of Clifton Springs, died September 30, 1998 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. He was born to Roy and Mabel Harris Furman, February 14, 1903 in Penfield. He retired from Gleason Corp. in Rochester. Mr. Furman was a member of the Elder Statesmen Club. Interment in the Macedon cemetery. Mr. Furman is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Harris R. and Mary Ann Furman Jr., of Cape Vincent; grandsons, Peter and William Furman and two great-grandchildren April and Benjamin; a very special friend, Dorothy Johnson of Kansas. His wife, Lillian predeceased Mr. Furman.

Dippel, Perry - Perry Dippel, 88, of Walworth, died October 3, 1998 at home. He is survived by Sue, his wife of 60 years; sons, Jeff (Ellen), Don (Jeanette), Ken (Beverly) and Tim (Sheila); grandchildren; sister, Marcia Dippel.

Pentycofe, Lloyd L. Jr. - Lloyd L. Pentycofe, Jr., 68, of West Sherman Ave., died October 2, 1998 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. Mr. Pentycofe was born in Sodus on June 15, 1930. The son of Lloyd and Hester McDonald Pentycofe Sr., he worked in maintenance at Hanover Division of Sarah Coventry Company. He was a member of the American War Dads, Chapter 29, of the V.F.W. of Newark. He played the accordion and harmonica. He had a great love for his family and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Interment in Huron Evergreen cemetery, Wolcott. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Doris (Clingerman) Pentycofe; two sons, Richard (Valari) and Ron Button; three daughters, Sharon Pentycofe (Robin); Joyce Pentycofe (Ann); and Katherine Pentycofe (Larene); four grandchildren, Richard (Kathy), Staci, Steve and Becky; one great-grandchild, Tessa Marie; five brothers, Floyd, Robert, Irving, Lester and Louis; three sisters, Mary Jane VerHeecke, Juanita Vervalin and Louise Pentycofe; nieces and nephews.

Carrigan, Marcella "Sally" M. - Marcella "Sally" M. Carrigan, 75, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1998, at DeMay Living Center. Sally was born in Waukegan, IL, Jan. 11, 1923, daughter of Albert and Bertha Kenneke Shorman. She had worked for the Rome and Newark State Schools. She was a member of the Newark American Legion Auxiliary 286. Interment in Fairville cemetery. Sally is survived by two daughters, Kathleen DeCann of Port Gibson and Debbie Florack of Marion; one son, Jack Jr. of Newark, 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren: nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" in September, 1996; a daughter, Terri Orbaker in 1981; a granddaughter, Renee Carrigan in 1985; and a great-grandchild, Preston DeCann Gonzalez in 1996.

Koury, John Joseph Sr. - John Joseph Koury Sr., 70, of Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls died Sunday, October 4, 1998 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Koury was born August 21, 1928 in Niagara Falls, the son of the late Joseph and Ellen (Knowles) Koury. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a sergeant, and was in charge of entertainment at Sampson Air Force Base. Prior to the war he was in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He graduated from Rider College in Trenton, New Jersey in 1950. He was an expert in the field of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning which he taught for twelve years at Niagara Orleans Boces. He was a volunteer umpire for Little League for over 30 years. He umpired in many City Tournaments. He was a member of the Crescent Temple Shrine in Trenton, NJ. Interment in Gate of Heaven cemetery, Town of Lewiston. He is survived by his wife, Concetta (Dedomenico) Koury, formerly of Newark, NY; a son, John J. Koury Jr. of Niagara Falls, a step sister, Evelyn Grandin, Niagara Falls, and two grandsons.

Boerman, Susan - Susan Boerman of Marion, 46, died October 3, 1998 as a result of an automobile accident. She was a Medical Secretary at Williamson Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Dale; daughter, Heather Lehr of East Penfield, two step-children, Jennifer Stevens of Marion and Andrew Boerman of Lansing, NY; mother, Patricia (Peter) Densmore; step-mother Elsie Agne; four sisters, Shirley (William) O'Leary, Barbara (Russell) Kuelling, Dianah Murphy, Darlene (Mike) Keller; two brothers, David (Betsy) Agne, Dennis (Kathy) Agne; two step-brothers, Donald Agne, Daniel (Robin) Agne; aunts, uncles, cousins and step-grandchildren.

Tomes, Letta B. - Letta Bornheimer Tomes, 80, of Palmyra died Monday, October 5, 1998 at the Clifton Springs Nursing Home. Mrs. Tomes was born the daughter of Albert and Jinnive Smith Bornheimer, December 26, 1917 in Clifton Springs. She retired from Garlock in Palmyra. Mrs. Tomes was a member of the Rebekah and the United Methodist Church of Palmyra. Interment in the Lakeview cemetery, Penn Yan. Mrs. Tomes is survived by her sons, Thomas (Rose) Tomes of Macedon, Charles (Zelma) Tomes, Sr. of Clifton Springs and Richard (Roberta) Tomes of Palmyra; daughter, Linda (Larry) DeClerck of Newark; granddaughters Dawn Davis and Tracy Tomes; grandsons, Mark (Annette) Tomes and Charles (Pam) Tomes Jr.; four great-granddaughters; sister, Iva Kent of Palmyra and nephew Ronald Kent. Mrs. Tomes was predeceased by her husband Albert Tomes in 1992.

DeMarco, Joseph Michael - Joseph Michael DeMarco, 72, of Stuart Avenue, Newark, died October 6, 1998 in Nunda, at the home of his son. Mr. DeMarco was born January 23, 1926 in Newark, the son of Jospeh A. and Angeline Colacino DeMarco. Joe was a retired carpenter and a long-time member of Local #85 of the Carpenter Union in Rochester. He was a member of St. Michael's Church. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Merchant Marines. Interment in the Newark cemetery. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Thomas C. DeMarco Sr. in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Virginia (Celso) DeMarco; his son, Joseph N. (Jeni) of Nunda, NY and daughter Nancy M. (Herman) Lamare of Monmouth, Maine; four granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Helen Truini and Martha (Owen) Huober of Newark; a brother, Frank of Rochester and several nieces and nephews.

Linehan, George J. - George J. Linehan, 75, of Elmwood Ave., Newark, died Monday, October 5, 1998 at Strong Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries sustained when he was struck be an automobile. Mr. Linehan was born April 16, 1923, in Geneva, the son of Emmett and Anna Gannon Linehan. He had worked in Newark and Geneva offices as a senior clerk for New York State Electric & Gas Corporation for 43 years, retiring in 1988. George was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. He was a long time member of the Newark Elks Lodge, where he had been secretary for the last 10 years. George served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps in England and France during World War 11. He was a member of August Mauer Post 286 of the American Legion. Interment in St. Mary's cemetery, Geneva. Mr. Linehan is survived by his wife, Frances (D'Amico) Linehan; two sons, Ronald (Yolanda) Linehan of McLean, VA and Mark (Nancy) Linehan of Tallahassee, FL.; seven stepchildren: Richard (Nancy) Carlson of Geneva, Sharon (Peter) Stockman of Geneva, Donald Bowers of Arlington, VA, Debra (Michael) Ceravolo of Newark, Douglas (Mary) Bowers of Littleton, CO, David Bowers of Wichita Falls, TX and Daniel Bowers of Newark; four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Marshall of Newark; several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Long); a brother, Robert; and a sister, Anna Margaret Linehan.
