She was born on January 13, 1930 in Newark, to Elmer and Grace Thorne Stell. She retired from Underwriter's Adjustment Corp. in Syracuse, where she was an insurance claims manager. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Shirley Stell of Newark; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred; parents Elmer and Grace Stell and brother, Edwin Stell.

Sharp, Gerald E. - Gerald E. Sharp, 74, died on August 4, 1999 at ViaHealth in Sodus. He was born June 24, 1925, in Walworth, son of Floyd and Ida Moore Sharp. He was retired from Dole Detective Agency, where he worked as a guard. He is survived by his sons, Gerald (Jessica) Sharp, Joe (Betty) Purdy, Jerome Purdy and his friend Sharron LeClair, Jeff (Jackie) Purdy and Jesse Purdy; daughters, Laurie Sharp and Lena (Don) Horton; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Sharp and Eugene Sharp; sister, Ema (Eddie) Sennler; nieces and nephews. Mr. Sharp was predeceased by his wife, Leila Sharp in 1989; son, John in 1981; and brother, Jupe.

Young, Elizabeth - Elizabeth (Betty) Young, 88, of Marion, died on August 6, 1999. Interment in Marion cemetery. She is survived by a special friend, Gerald Petty; 2 daughters, Barbara Ruple of Marion and Joan (John) Clancy of Palmyra; 5 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Grace Hendricks of Sodus. She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin and a retired Garlock Co. employee.

Bowles, Margaret Lyon - Margaret Lyon Bowles, of Marion and Canisteo, age 89, died on Aug. 5, 1999. She is survived by her daughters, Kay (Roy) Herrmann of Ontario, Lois (Jim) Lewis of West Webster, Debbie (Tony) Lorenzo of Cary, North Carolina; sons, Kenneth (Helen) Bowles of Marion, Peter Bowles of Newburgh, John (Carole) Bowles of Watertown; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Jane Walker of Athens, PA; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Bowles.

Buckley, Donald J. - Donald J, Buckley, 69, of Newark, died on August 8, 1999 at the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua. Mr. Buckley was born in Buffalo on September 29, 1929 the son of James and Johanna (Balogh) Buckley. He spent 12 years in military service, with the U.S. Navy, Army, and Air Force. From 1953-55 he was the Armed Forces Heavyweight Boxing Champion as well as being a former Golden Gloves and Diamond Gloves champion in New Jersey. He was a member of the VFW Post 2883 in Newark. He is survived by his father, James Buckley; a sister, Dawn (Don) Mesler; a brother, James R. (Barbara) Buckley; his sons, Donald, James, and Mark Buckley; and several nieces and nephews.

Greenwald, Josephine J. - Josephine J. Greenwald, 83, died at her Newark home on August 9, 1999. Interment in Newark cemetery. Mrs. Greenwald was born the daughter of Philip and Mary Comella on January 14, 1916 in Canandaigua. She retired from Fold-Pak Corp. where she worked as an assembler for 34 years. She was a member of St. Michael Church in Newark. She is survived by her husband Donald Greenwald Sr.; stepson Donald Greenwald Jr.; brothers George (Vera) Comella of Newark., Anthony (Dorothy) Comella of Florida; Michael (Vernice) Comella of Texas; sister-in-law Mary Comella of Newark; nieces and nephews. Her brothers Edward Comella and Philip Comella predeceased Mrs. Greenwald.

Osgood, Lloyd W. - Lloyd W. Osgood, 64, of Marion died unexpectedly on August 9, 1999.He was a retired Mobil Chemical Engineer. Mr. Osgood is survived by 5 children, Dennis, David, Douglas, Debbie and Dianne Meli. Companion and life mate, Margaret L. Bellefontaine and her family, Hope (Tom) Schul of Marion, Randy Bellefontaine and Gina Tabor of Marion; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

Fisk, Kenneth - Kenneth 'Bubba' Fisk, 69, of Church Street, Newark, died on August 9, 1999 at Via Health of Wayne, Newark Campus. Interment in East Newark cemetery. Mr. Fisk was born June 20, 1930 in Bath, the son of Elmer and H. Gladys Miller Fisk. He lived n Newark for many years and is survived by many friends.

Claeys, Robert - Robert Claeys, 82, of Bath, died on August 9, 1999 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bath. Interment in Newark cemetery.Mr. Claeys was born in Fairport on November 20, 1916, the son of Andrew and Leona DeBlaeye Claeys. He was a retired truck driver and had served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by two brothers, Raymond DePauw and Wilber DePauw both of Newark, and several nieces and nephews. He as predeceased by his parents and a brother Ceriel Claeys.

House, George D. - George D. (Bob) House, 84, of Marion, died on August 11, 1999. He was a retired Comstock Foods employee. Interment in the Marion cemetery. Mr. House is survived by 2 daughters, Roberta (John) Miller of Rochester and Elaine (Larry) Taylor of Fairport; a son, David House of Rochester; 4 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Rena Duger of Baldwinsville.

McSherry, Allen - Allen McSherry, formerly of Newark, died July 28, 1999, in North Miami Beach, Florida. Allen resided in Newark in the 1920's and 1930's. He was a member of the Class of 1930 at Newark High School and attended several of their Class Reunions, which were held every 10 years for the past 40 years. He had been looking forward to the 70th class reunion, which may be held this summer.

Axtell, Eleanor P. - Eleanor P. Axtell, 85, of Mobile Drive, Newark, formerly of Sodus, died at her home on July 30, 1999. Interment in Sodus Rural cemetery. She is survived by her granddaughter, Rebecca Axtell of Marion; step-daughter, Jane (Stuart) Vest of Virginia; several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lulu Austin of Sodus, Doris Ameele of Arizona; brother, Donald (Fannie) Ball of Sodus Point; 2 sisters-in- law, Marion Frine of Rochester, Hilda Ball of Sodus; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Axtell was predeceased by her son, Terry; grandson, Todd and brothers Lawrence, Curtis and Elwood Ball.

Tellier, Edward T. Sr. - Edward T. Tellier, Sr. 79, of Route 31 West, in Newark, died August 2, 1999 at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark campus. Interment in Fairville cemetery. Mr. Tellier was born in Farmington, April 28, 1920, son of Clarence and Loretta O'Keefe Tellier. He was a mechanic for 34 years at Bilotta Enterprises in Newark. He served in the Army and was a member of' the Phelps American Legion and the American War Dads of Newark. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth Miller Tellier; two sons, Edward T. (Sharon) Jr. and Dennis (Sandy) both of Newark; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Marie Nellis of Palmyra; several nieces and nephews.

Smith, John R. - John R. 'Jack' Smith, 76, of West Miller Street, Newark, died on July 29, 1999 at the Living Center South in Geneva. Interment in Newark cemetery. Smith was born Jan. 1, 1923, in La Porte City, Iowa, son of John and Julia Cranny Smith. He had served with the Navy during World War II. Following his military service, he attended Yale University, graduating in 1948. Jack had been an industrial engineering consultant. He was a communicant of St. Michael Church and had been a member of the Clifton Springs Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Eleanor; a son, Dr. Timothy J. (Kathryn) Smith of Liberty, Mo.; two daughters, Linda A. Smith of Bermuda Dunes, CA, and Laurie E. (Clifford) Shields of La Quinta, CA; three grandchildren, Erin and Christopher Smith and Benjamin Shields; two sisters, Kathleen Higgins of Waterloo, Iowa, and Isadora Stahn of Jackson, Wyoming, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Julia Cranny Smith; and two brothers, Joseph and Donald Smith.

Morris, John J. - John J. Morris, 80, of Fairport, died on July 26, 1999. John was a WWII Army Veteran for 4 1/2 years serving both Europe and Aleutian Islands; also an employee for Xerox Corp for 20 years. He is survived by wife Martha (Boynton), formerly of Newark; 2 sons, John and Jim (Jodi); 2 grandchildren, Lexi and Joshua; sister, Polly (Kenneth) Malotte of VA; several nieces and nephews.

Trombino, Josephine S. - Josephine S. Trombino, 92, of Montezuma Street, Lyons died Friday, July 30, 1999 at the Living Center Geneva North in Geneva. Interment at South Lyons cemetery. Josephine was born Feb. 8, 1907 in Lyons, a daughter to Rocco and Grace Montemorano Sappa. As a lifelong area resident, she was a member of St. Michael's Church, Eureka Grange and a member of the former Rosary and Altar Society. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Trombino of Lyons; two sons, Arthur (Marcia) Trombino of Lyons and James Trombino of Westmoreland; three granddaughters, Erin Pica, Sara Trombino and Amy Warner; one step-granddaughter, Gwenda Gulvin; brother, Anthony Sappa; two sisters, Alice Odom of Virginia and Dorothy VanEtten of Highland Mills, NY; many nieces and nephews.

Brevet, Peter H. Sr. - Peter H. Brevet, Sr., 83, of Catlin Road, Newark died July 30, 1999 at ViaHealth of Wayne. Interment in Fairville cemetery. Peter was born on Oct. 6, 1915, in West Walworth, the son of Isaac and Sarah DeBruyne Brevet. He retired in 1977 from C.H. Stuart Co., where he worked in maintenance. He farmed until 1955. He was a charter member of the Fairville Fire Department and a member of the Fairville Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Elnora C. (Boughton) Brevet; son, Peter Jr. (Nancy) of Newark; two daughters, Joyce (Harold) DeRue and Sandra (Edward) DeRue, both of Newark; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Cortright, Carl R. - Carl R. Cortright, 70, of Sodus, died July 30, 1999. Interment, Baptist Rural cemetery, Sodus Center. Carl was an Army Veteran and a retiree from the Newark Developmental Center, a member of the Iron Workers Union, Sodus Masonic Lodge #392, and the Newark American Legion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Carole A. (Vanderzille) Cortright; son, Richard (Peggy) Cortright of Locke, NY; daughter, Carlene (Phillip) Ingrahm of Freeville; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters; brother, Neil (Donna) Cortright of Newark Valley; sisters, Kathlein (John) Lane of Binghamton, Doris Bosley of Richford, Juanita (Robert) Sherwood of Berkshire; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many dear friends.

Greco, Lucille A. - Lucille A. Greco, 73, of Mason Street, Newark died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Interment in South Lyons cemetery. Lucille was born March 2, 1926, daughter of Anthony and Josephine Incarnato Forgione. She had worked in the restaurant business in Clyde for 10 years. For 20 years she helped in the operation of the Newark Grill with her husband. She was also a member of St. Michael's Church in Newark. She is survived by her husband, James J. Greco; son, Dennis J. (Susan) Greco of East Rochester; two grandchildren, Brian and Melissa; brother, Nicholas (Cecelia) Forgione; two sisters, Tinella Ochs and Mrs. Rudy (Anna) Darcangelis, all of Lyons; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Lonneville, Helen (O'Connor) - Helen Lonneville, 78, of Palmyra, died August 4, 1999 at her home. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur E. and son Terry. Survivors include her son, Garry (Barb); granddaughers, Tracy Lee, Tobi DuVall, Tammy Affronti, Dawn DeRycke and Brenda Tromblay; brother, Edward (Alma) O'Connor; many nieces and nephews; also very special friends, Beverly Parker and Vineta Freyn. Interment in St. Ann's cemetery.

Mayeu, Robert N. - Bob Mayeu, 68, died Friday, July 23, 1999. Interment in Riverview cemetery, Clifton Springs. He was born June 15, 1931 to Arthur and Bessie Sweet Mayeu in Williamson. He was a graduate of Williamson High School and retired from Burroughs Corp. in Rochester. He was a member of the Arcadia Reformed Church in Newark where he served as Elder, Choir Director and on the original building committee for the present location. Bob was a past member of the Community Players in Clifton Springs, and was involved with the coordinating of the Williamson Apple Blossom Festival. His hobbies included designing and making costumes, wedding gowns, and wedding cakes. His wife proudly wore her wedding gown, which he designed and made. Bob is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 44 years, Marlene Sadler Mayeu; son, Brian Mayeu of Clifton Springs; daughters, Kimberly Mayeu of Florida, Kelly and her husband, William Thompson, of Florida, and Mindy and her husband, the Rev. Gerald Norman of Illinois; granddaughters, Trinity, Amanda, Bethany, Olivia, and Elyce; grandboy, Aaron; brothers, Arthur Jr. (Pat) Mayeu of Williamson, Allen Mayeu of Wolcott, and Marshall (Judy) Mayeu of Williamson; sisters, Janice (Dean) Sheffield, and Loretta (Morris) Wahl both of Williamson; sister-in-law, Shirley Mayeu of Williamson; many nieces and nephews. His brother Duane predeceased Bob in 1997.

De Torio, Margaret E. 'Marge' - Margaret E. 'Marge' De Torio, 88, formerly of Broad St., Lyons, died Friday, July 23, 1999 at Newark Manor Nursing Home. Interment in South Lyons cemetery. Mrs. De Torio was born August 23, 1910 in Clyde, daughter of Charles and Mary DiSanto Castilano. She was a member of St. Michael's Church and its former Altar and Rosary Society. She is survived by two sons, Gerald (Marie) of Newark, and John 'Jack' (Barbara) of Lyons; two daughters, Mariann (Richard) Vandermark of Lyons, and Nancy Richards of Webster; six grandchildren, Pamela (Eric) Platte, Tina (Jeff) Easter, Renee and Richard Vandermark, Shawn and Brian Bacon; sister, Jane Lawrence of Webster; brother, Robert Castilano of Syracuse; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dominic A. 'Mack' DeTorio, on Sept. 8, 1991; three sisters, Joan Sherman, Helen Covert and Louise Cipriano; and three brothers, Raymond, Sidney and Matthew Castilano.
