He was a communicant of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse. He was a member of American Legion Tipperary Hill Post 1361. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors: A niece, Diane Kennedy of Syracuse; a nephew, John J. Kennedy of Syracuse. Services: 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Edward J. Clasiena M. VanDonsel Lloyd, 83, formerly of Summit Street, Cortland, died Tuesday. She was born in Corcoran, Minn. She retired in 1981 from Cortland County Cooperative Extension after 28 years and worked for the American Cancer Society from 1985 to 1997. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Cortland. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a member and former treasurer of the 20th Century Club. Her husband, Edwin C., died in 1983. Survivors: Two daughters, Kathryn M. Shay of Sayre, Pa., and Marilyn Falsetti of Amherst; a brother, William VanDonsel of Cortland; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Services: 12:30 p.m. today at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, and 1 p.m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland.

James E. MacArthur

James E. MacArthur, 61, of Summerland Key, Fla., died Wednesday in Fair Haven while visiting. Born in Auburn, he graduated from state Agricultural and Technical College at Morrisville. He lived in Fair Haven until moving away about 14 years ago. He was an auditor for Casa Marina in Key West, Fla., and retired from International Harvester in Chicago. He was a member of Fair Haven Yacht Club and was a Boy Scout and Explorer Scout. He was an Army veteran. Survivors: A sister, Anne E. MacArthur of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Philip L. of Summerland Key and William S. of Red Creek. Graveside services: Will be in McArthur-Carter Cemetery. No calling hours. Richard H. Norton, 72, of North Syracuse died Thursday at Loretto. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Vocational High School and lived in North Syracuse 40 years. He retired in 1992 as a warehouseman for P&C Foods in Syracuse after 36 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Liverpool and Teamsters Local 317 and was a former member of American Legion Post 1297. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Survivors: His wife of 47 years, the former Beverly J. Porter; a daughter, Susan E. Terrel of Concord, N.H.; two sons, Kevin L. of Lyncourt and Mark J. of North Syracuse; a sister, Janet A. Norton of Westvale; four grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Howlett Hill Road, Onondaga. Phillip G. Prest, 90, of 512 Lemoyne Ave., Syracuse, died Sunday. He was born in Brooklyn. He retired as a vending machine cashier from Canteen Corp. He was a life member of South Seneca Sportsmens Club and a volunteer for the American Heart Association. He served in the Army National Guard. His first wife, Geraldine, died in 1963; his second wife, Millie, died in 1984; a daughter, Peggy Moore, died in 2000. Survivors: Three sons, Arthur of Syracuse, John P. of Schenectady and Raymond of Florida; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Covert Funeral Home. She was a teacher's aide in special education at Oswego County Board of Cooperative Educational Services and had worked on the cafeteria staff at Academy Street Elementary School of Mexico Academy and Central Schools. Her husband, Harold, died in 1990; a son, Melvin, died in 1991. Survivors: Two daughters, Patricia Hofer of Mexico and Elaine Ruckdeschel of Rochester; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He retired as a salesman for Finger Lakes Wholesale and operated Shaw Variety Store with his family from 1956 to 1966. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and Knights of Columbus Council 207. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart. A son, Richard, died in 1978. Survivors: His wife of 61 years, the former Mary Harbottle; four sons, James F., Leo M., and Dr. John R., all of Auburn, and William E. of Rochester; two sisters, Alice Shaw and Ellen Shaw Evans, both of Auburn; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Robert H. "Honker" Bradshaw, 77, of 67 E. Utica St., Oswego, died Wednesday. He was a life resident of Oswego. He was the former president and pension administrator for the Laborers Local 214 and was former secretary/treasurer of the Oswego Building and Trades Council. From 1975 to 1991 he was the alderman from City of Oswego's 2nd Ward and served as president of the Oswego Common Council. He was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Oswego Lodge. He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II. His wife, the former Mayme Alesci, and a daughter, Antionette, died previously. Survivors: A daughter, Mary Jane Wells of Oswego; three sons, Robert A. of Freehold, N.J., James G. and Blake T., both of Oswego; three brothers, Thomas of Arkansas, James of Oswego and Richard of Syracuse; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
