He was a member of the Fire Dept. and the Second Reformed Church. Spring interment in the Marion cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughter, Diane (Peter) Dugan, Rochester; son, Douglas (Laurie) VerPlank, Marion; 3 grandchildren, Daren and Colleen Dugan and Danielle VerPlank; 2 brothers, Abram VerPlank, of Marion and William (Evelyn) VerPlank, Marion.

Gotshall, Eleanor - Eleanor J. Gotshall, 68, of Palmyra, died March 3, 2000, in ViaHealth of Wayne-Newark Campus. Interment in East Bloomfield cemetery. Eleanor is survived by her husband, David Gotshall; sons, George Ellis, Martin Ellis, David Ellis, Vance Keeling, Jr., Greg and Michael Gotshall; daughters, Eleanor Reilly, Dorothy Campbell and Laurie Keeling; brothers, George Kachel, Jerry Kachel, Junior Kachel and Carl Kachel; sister, Mary Polowski; 16 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Loraine Ellis and Louella McGory.

Truini, Richard - Richard C. Truini, 82, of Newark, died March 5, 2000 at Via Health of Wayne, Newark Campus. Dick was born Sept. 4, 1917 in Newark, the son August and Mary Toti Truini. He was a service engineer for more than 37 years with Fold Pak, retiring in 1984. He was a 1935 graduate of Newark High School and a graduate of the Mechanic's Institute (R.I.T.), in Rochester. He was a communicant of St. Michael Church. He had been a member of the Newark Country Club, the Newark Elks Lodge, the Palmyra Moose Lodge, and the Hobo's of America. Dick loved cabinet making and working with wood. Interment in Newark cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Josephine, with whom he would have been married 57 years; son, Richard J. (Jeanne) of Pittsford; two daughters, Monica (Gene) Della Pietra of Pittsford and Mary Beth Truini of Penn Yan; six grandchildren, Richard, Jennifer and Mark Della Pietra and Andrea, Sara and Daniel Truini; brother, Carl (Eleanor) of Webster; sister, Betty (Frank) Scalise of Newark; nieces ahd nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; by sisters, Rose Alvaro and Lena Cinquegrana; and a brother, August Truini.

Petitti, Louise - Louise M. Petitti, 81, of Newark, died March 2, 2000 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Louise was born April 30, 1918 in Clyde, daughter of Joseph and Grace Fischette Buttaccio. She retired from Hallagan Manufacturing in Newark, with 23 years of service. She was a member of St. Michael Church. She is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Judy (Bela) Szilagyi of Newark; grandson, Michael; sister, Mary Santelli of Lyons; several nieces and nephews; several grandnieces and grandnephews. Interment in East Newark cemetery.

Smith, Ida Elaine - Ida 'Elaine' Smith, 60, of Newark, formerly of Clifton Springs, passed away peacefully at her home on March 2, 2000. She was born Sept. 12, 1939 in Clifton Springs, to Bud and Dorothy Farnsworth. She was a 1957 graduate of Clifton Springs High School. Interment in Pioneer cemetery in Shortsville. She is survived by four daughters, Kim (Bob) Walker of Clifton Springs, Joette (Tony) Colucci of Virginia, Lisa Collett of Shortsville Jill Trask of Newark; her mother, Dorothy Farnsworth of Clifton Springs; eight grandchildren; sister, Betty Gail (Bob) Mays of Vermont; two special friends, Newton Smith and Francis Bruni; several nieces and nephews.

Debs, Edward G., Jr. - Edward G. Debs, Jr., 48, of Farmington, died March 7, 2000. He was born in Worcester, MA, and was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School in 1969. He earned his B.S. from the University of Massachusetts, his Master's from SUNY Oswego, and Ph.D. from SUNY Binghamton. He was presently a Psychologist for Finger Lakes Developmental Disability Services Office in Newark. Spring interment in St. Patrick's cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Medoro Debs; son, Darren E. Debs; mother, Pauline MacKoul Debs of Worcester, MA; sister, Elizabeth (Steven) Debs-Santora; mother-in-law, Mary Medoro; aunts, uncles, cousins.

Maugiri, Anthony D., Sr. - Anthony D. Maugiri Sr., 80, of Newark, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Clifton Springs Hospital. Anthony was born in Geneva, Feb. 6, 1920, the son of Dominic and Margaret Legott Maugiri. A self-employed painter, he and his wife Margaret operated Edwards Paint Store in Newark for more than 29 years. He was a World War II hero who fought with the 101st Airborne. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, a member of August Mauer Post 286 of the American Legion, and Arcadia Memorial VFW Post 2883, and of the Upstate Chapter of the 101st Airborne. Interment in Newark cemetery with full military rites accorded at the grave. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Susan) Bunce and Diane Maugiri of Newark; two sons, Donald (Eleanor) of Newark and Anthony Jr. (Carol) of Longview, Texas; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Genevieve Ricci of Newark and Rose Smith of Geneva; special friend, Arline Bethkavsky; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in 1988 by his wife, Margaret.

Scott, Jamie - Jamie Scott, 20, of Palmyra, died March 11, 2000, in a car accident. Jamie was an employee of McLouth Chevrolet. He is survived by his mother, Tammy Scott and friend Tim Perry; girlfriend, Leslie Catchman; grandparents, Harold and Sandy Scott of Palmyra; aunts and uncles, Cindy and Rick Ebert of Macedon, Terri Scott of Palmyra, Dale and Donna Scott of Madrid and David Scott of Palmyra; great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and many friends. Interment in Marion cemetery.

Hughes, Elias, Jr. - Elias 'Bud' Hughes, Jr., 74, of Newark died March 11, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Interment in Newark cemetery. Mr. Hughes was born October 23, 1925 in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania, the son of Elias and Viola Killian Hughes, Sr. He was a graduate of Shickshinny High School and a 1946 graduate of Penn State. Bud was the manager of accounting at Beechnut Company in Canajoharie, NY for 13 years. In 1971, he moved to Newark, where he was comptroller for Comstock Foods, a Division of Curtice Burns until his retirement on December 31, 1986. He was a member and had served on the board of trustees of the First United Methodist Church. He had also served on the Advisory Committee of the Chase Lincoln Bank of Wayne County. Bud was a 50-year member of the Canajoharie Masonic Lodge and a member of the Newark Country Club. He is survived by his wife Beverly; two daughters, Karen (Kevin) Fowler of Canajoharie and Linda (Fred) Fitze of Rochester; son, Thomas (Karen) of Newark; four grandchildren, Ryan and Gregory Hughes, Kyle Fowler and Kamille Logan; and three great-grandchildren. Bud was predeceased by his parents, grandson Kevin Fowler, and sister Jane Martini.

Phillips, Dorothy - Dorothy Phillips, 77, of Newark, died March 14, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Mrs. Phillips was born July 23, 1922 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Harvey and Bessie Masshold Hillegiss. Dorothy was a member of the Palmyra Moose Club. Interment in the Ridge Chapel cemetery, Williamson. She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Edwin; four daughters, Linda (Jerry) Julius of Wolcott, Gail (Bill) Draper of Livonia, Becky (Harry) Hilbert of Webster and June (Bill) Brunswick of Williamson; son, Walter (Mary) Cameron of Honoeye; grandchildren and great grandchildren; step-children, Carol De Roo, Edwin (Sue) Phillips, Jr. and Linda (Joel) Hixson, all of Newark; several nieces and nephews.

Hendershot, Doris Elaine - Doris Elaine Hendershot, 69, of Nunda, died March 13, 2000. Doris was born on January 1, 1931 in Nunda, to Leon and Doris Rathbun-Wood. She worked as a switchboard operator at Craig Colony. She was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church & Women's Society. Doris is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Kevin) Gaby of Dalton and Linda (David) Seward of Corfu; two sons, Kenneth (Debra) Hendershot of Nunda and Donald (Gayle) Hendershot of Newark; 16 grand children; one great-grandson; brother, Warren (Esther) Wood of Dalton; sister, Marion (Samuel) Monteleone of Perry; nieces and nephews.

Douglass, Linda Susan Morse - Linda Susan Morse Douglass, 41, of Horseheads, formerly of Marion, died March 15, 2000. Linda was born October 26, 1958 in Syracuse, the daughter of Nelson and Vivian Wilkins Morse. She received her Associate's Degree in Art from The Community College of The Finger Lakes in 1979 and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Nazareth College in 1981. She married Martin J. Douglass on June 5, 1982 and was the mother of five children. Rather than pursue a career in public education, Linda chose to stay at home to teach her own children. She was a devoted member of The Maranatha Bible Chapel in Horseheads. Interment in Maple Grove cemetery in Horseheads. She is survived by her husband, Martin J. Douglass; her children, Susan, Sarah Ruth, Rebekah, James, and Seth, all at home; mother, Vivian Wilkins Morse of Newark; father, Nelson Morse of Newark; sisters, Cheryl Morse of Newark, Sandra (Russell) Carlson of Newark, Patricia (Richard) Betine of Colorado, Dawn (David) Comden of Hilton, and Donna (Scott) Francis of Marion; and brother, Ronald Morse of Palmyra.

VerPlank, Evelyn Q. - Evelyn Q. VerPlank of Marion, 82, died March 18, 2000. She was a former Marion Town Clerk. Interment in Marion cemetery. She is survived by her husband, William A. VerPlank; daughter Anne (Kevin) Rogers of Newark; son, James (Linda) VerPlank of Marion; four grandchildren, Mark and Michael Rogers, Amanda and Jordan VerPlank; cousins and many friends.

Brothers, Daniel L. - Daniel L. Brothers of Williamson, 77, died March 18, 2000. Daniel was a veteran of WWII; retiree of Eastman Kodak Co.; a member of the Rochester Poultry Breeders Assn.; and Rochester Pigeon Fanciers Assn. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary (Johnville) Brothers; son, Daniel (Aileen) Brothers Jr. of Nevada, Missouri; daughter, Karen (Rodney) Wise of Marion; 6 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Robert) Salmon of Fairport; nieces and nephews.

Bender, Eva Mae - Eva Mae Bender, 73, formerly of Newark, died Friday, March 17, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Bender was born the daughter of Henry and Dora Willover in Hindale, NY, on March 29, 1926. Interment in the spring at the Lyons Rural cemetery. She is survived by her husband Frank Bender; her daughter and son-in-law Mary and Eric Dizmang of Newark; grandchildren, David, Shane, and Cody; brothers, Clayton (Dorothy) Williams, Donald (Joyce) Williams and Robert (Jean) Williams; sisters, Thelma (Raymond) Gayheart, Valma Montgomery, and Carol (Kenneth) Gayheart; aunts, Nellie DeWilde, and Ella Osborne; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bender was predeceased by brother Kenneth Goulde, and her sister, Gertrude Pickering.

Teeter, Maurice - Maurice Teeter, age 78, of Homosassa, Florida and Palmyra, died Sunday, March 5, 2000 at his daughter's home in Florida after a long illness. Mr. Teeter was born in Cherry Township in Pennsylvania. He moved to Florida 24 years ago after retiring as a machine operator from Garlock Corp. in Palmyra. The funeral home flew the Army flag in honor of his service to our country during World War II. Interment at Port Gibson cemetery. Mr. Teeter is survived by his four daughters, Nancy (Elbert) Goodman of Homosassa, FL, Kathy Quigley of Newark, Marlene Knorr of Penn Yan, and Heather (Richard) Yonker of Lyons; two brothers, Kelsey Teeter of Wilmington, NC, and Joseph Teeter of Cato, NY; sister, Mildred Marquart of Penfield; six grandchildren. Mr. Teeter was predeceased by his wife, Betty, on Dec. 11, 1995; son-in-law, Donald Quigley on March 4, 2000; grandson, Scott in 1979; brothers, Russell, Harold, and Martin.

Prutzman, Bonnie J. - Bonnie J. Prutzman, 25, of Newark, and formerly of Hamburg, PA, died March 16, 2000 at Rochester General at Rochester General Hospital. She died as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on March 16 in Lyons. Born in West Reading, PA, she was the daughter of Carl R. Prutzman, Hamburg and Gloria J. (Berger) Wisser, Hamburg. Bonnie was a 1992 graduate of Hamburg Area High School. She was a Certified Nurses Aide working for the New York State Department of Health at Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Services Offices, Phelps, for three years. She also worked for Nurse Finders, a nursing placement agency. In addition to her parents, she is survived by brother Carl R. Prutzman II, Bernville, PA; step-sister Kimberly S. Wisser, Exeter Twp., PA; step-father Barry N. Wisser, Hamburg; maternal grandparents Lester W. and Janet A. (Wolf) Berger, Hamburg; paternal grandfather Leroy C. Prutzman, Hamburg.

Beal, Marian F. - Marian F. Beal, 79, of Levitttown, PA, formerly of Newark, died March 17, 2000 in Langhorne, PA. Marian was born in Newark, the daughter of Charles Henry and M. Grace Smallidge Berger. She was the salutatorian of the Class of 1939 of Newark High School. She was a former member of the Park Presbyterian Church and was a resident of Levittown, PA, for the last 45 years. Interment will be in East Newark cemetery. She is survived by her son, William (Nancy) Beal of Levittown, PA; a daughter, Grace M. McCoy of Green Lane, PA; and a granddaughter, Sara. She was predeceased by a son, Lawrence Foster.

Cline, Gerald D. - Gerald D. Cline, 73, of Ridge Rd., Sodus, died March 20, 2000, at the ViaHealth of Wayne, Myers Campus. Mr. Cline was a World War II veteran. He was employed at Cadbury Schweppes in Williamson for 23 years. Interment will be in the Huron Evergreen cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret; seven children, Edward (Katie) Cline, Sheila (Mike) Foss, Mark (Sherry) Cline, Marcia (Lyn) VanLare, Julie Cline, Brian (Karen) Cline and Deedra (Dennis) DeFisher; nine grandchildren, Gwen Cline, Monica (Steven) Fernaays, Jermy and Jason Foss, George, Marcus and Amber VanLare and Breana and Cassidy Cline; and a sister, Mary Cline.

Martin, Kathleen W. - Kathleen W. Martin, 84, of Marion, died March 20, 2000, at the Lakeshore Nursing Home in Rochester. She was a nurse in the Army Air Force during WWII. Interment in Sunnyside cemetery, Williamson. She is survived by her son, Owen Chauncey (Paula) Payne of Palmyra; daughter, Suzanne Zartman of Rochester; seven grandchildren; brother, Jerry Zartman of Medford, OR; sisters, Betty Biedel of California, Bobbie (William) Musselwhite of NC; nieces and nephews.

Roscoe, Aurora R. - Aurora R. Roscoe, 90, of Newark, died March 21, 2000 at the Via Health of Wayne, Newark campus. Mrs. Roscoe was born April 18, 1909 in San Angelo, Texas, the daughter of John and Louise Reese. For many years, she worked in the custodial services for the Newark School District, retiring in 1975. She was a member of St. Michael's Church. Interment in the Newark cemetery. She is survived by good friends and several of her beloved pets. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis and a son, John Louis Roscoe.
