O'Meal, Frances Carroll - Frances Carroll 'Frannie' O'Meal, 72, of Newark, died June 3, 2000, at The House of John in Clifton Springs. Frances was born March 4, 1928, in the town of Palmyra, the daughter of William 'Pete' and Eloine Gilfus Carroll. She was a customer representative for Chase Lincoln for more than 37 years, retiring in 1990. She is a member of the Park Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Association in Newark. Interment is in East Palmyra cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Sue (Daryl) Martin; and a granddaughter, Samantha Jo Martin all of Newark; two nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Marjorie Fegadel in 1983.

Acchione, Fannie J. - Fannie J. Acchione, 77, of Lyons, died June 4, 2000, at ViaHealth of Wayne, Newark Campus. Mrs. Acchione was born July 17, 1922, in Syracuse, a daughter to Nicholas and Genevieve Rescignano. She was employed by the Lyons Central School District as a teacher's aide. Interment in South Lyons cemetery. She is survived by one son, Bruce (Beverly) of Lyons; one daughter, Arlene (Scott) Lent of Newark; and four grandchildren: Brooke and Bret Acchione, Corrin Lohrmann and Ashley Lent.

Clark, Donald V. - Donald V. Clark, 67, of Marion, died June 6, 2000. Interment in Marion cemetery. He is survived by sibings, Howard (Joyce) Clark, Leonard Clark, Barbara (Jerry) Brown, Judith (Eugene) Taillie; nieces, nephews, cousins; predeceased by his parents, Anna and Vern Clark.

Albrecht, Elizabeth Ann - Elizabeth Ann Albrecht, 41, of Lyons, died suddenly on June 9, 2000, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Macedon. Beth Ann was born in Lyons on Aug. 21, 1958, a daughter to Howard and Barbara Fox Albrecht. She was a 1976 graduate of Lyons High School and was employed at the Wayne County Department of Social Services, as a senior account clerk for 11 years. Interment in South Lyons cemetery. Surviving are her fiance, Stephen DeNeef and his daughter, Courtney, of Lyons; her parents, Howard and Barbara (Fox) Albrecht of Lyons; three brothers, Howard Jr. (Lisa) of Lyons, Scott (Marianne) of Lyons, and Todd (Kelly) of Auburn; nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Terri, in 1986.

Westfall, Lillian - Lillian A. Westfall, 92, of Newark, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at her home. Interment in Rest Haven cemetery in Phelps. Mrs. Westfall was born March 16, 1908 in Clifton Springs, the daughter of George and Mary Brown Walters. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Westfall was a 1929 graduate of the Clifton Springs School of Nursing and for many years did private duty nursing. She had been active with the Home Bureau of Newark and the Amitie Chapter 473, Order of the Eastern Star. A former member of the Newark Senior Citizens, she enjoyed contributing to their quilting and crocheting projects. She is survived by three daughters, Joan (Alan) St. George of Fairview Park, Ohio, Judith (Ben) Lynch of Horseheads and Nancy (Gary) Sproul of Newark; son, James (Sally) of Newark; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Leon A. Westfall on Aug. 1, 1983.

Glerum, Esther - Esther M. Glerum, 94, of Newark, died June 11, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Glerum was born the daughter of Charles and Maryann Hopple Humbert on December 12, 1905 in Lyons, New York. She and her husband owned the Glerum Farms on Route 88 North. Interment in East Newark cemetery. She is survived by her sister Grace Martin of Alabama, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Christian Glerum on May 17, 1979, and by nine brothers and five sisters.

Boeye, Elsie (Everdyke) - Elsie M. (Everdyke) Boeye, 86, of Williamson, died on June 9, 2000. Survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Ivan and Ruth Boeye of Williamson; grandchildren, John Boeye, Laurie (Edward) Winder; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kasey Winder; brothers, Elmer (Alice) Everdyke, Warren (Genevieve) Everdyke, Ralph (Betty) Everdyke all of Newark; sisters, Grace Dubois, Marian VanLaeken both of Newark; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1984 by her husband, Peter Boeye. Interment in Furnaceville cemetery, Ontario.

Monje, Theodore - Theodore 'Ted' Monje, 42, formerly of Newark, died suddenly June 4, 2000 in Kyle, Texas. Ted was born in Japan on June 24, 1958 the son of Jack Monje of Tampa, FL and grandson of Hazel Monje of Newark. He was a graduate of Texas Tech University. A computer engineer with Cirrus Logic in Austin Texas, held a private pilots license and was a member of the Fallen Comrades Model Airplane Group. He is survived by his wife, Rosie; son, Shawn; daughter, Shannon all of Kyle, Texas; brother, Alex (Carrie) Monje of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Barbara (Bart) Mathews of Clearwater, Florida and Sheil (Carey) Frost of Dunedin, Florida; several nieces and nephews.

Englert, Julia - Julia V. Englert, 82, of Newark, died June 10, 2000, at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Mrs. Englert was born Oct. 8, 1917 in Manchester, the daughter of Bernard and Prudence VanWaes VanDeMoortel. She was retired from the Newark Developmental Center, where she had been an attendant. Julia was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. Interment is in Port Gibson cemetery. She is survived by her sister, Sylvia 'Sally' Wright of Port Gibson, and 10 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Mary Yost in 1992, and Margaret Molina, in 1993.

Vermeulen, Jacob - Jacob 'Coe' Vermeulen, 86, a lifelong resident of Sodus, died June 9, 2000 at the DeMay Living Center in Newark. Jacob was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church of Sodus and served multiple terms as an Elder and Deacon. He retired from the Sodus Central School District custodial staff and remained an avid gardener and devoted father. Interment in Baptist Rural cemetery. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Rawden) in 1983. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, James and Carolyn, and Wayne and Andrea, all of Sodus; brothers and sisters, Katherine VanHall, Jozina (Boss) Leenhouts, Lavina (John) Sonneville, Albert (Mildred) Vermeulen, Ernest (Thelma) Vermeulen; sister-in-law, Dorothy Rawden; nieces and nephews. He also was predeceased by siblings, Mary, Cornelia, Henry, Samuel, Cornelis, William, Abram, Adrienne 'Jen' Lockwood and Elsie.

Besaw, Rita - Rita M. Besaw, 74, died June 9, 2000. Interment in Palmyra cemetery. Rita is survived by daughters Patricia Bishop, Sheila (Robert) Murphy and Rosanne Venette; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Stiles, Mary Lou (Buck) - Mary Lou Stiles, 69, a lifelong resident of Newark, died June 17, 2000 after a long struggle with multiple sclerosis. She had resided for more than ten years at the Newark Manor Nursing Home and at DeMay Living Center. Mrs. Stiles was born in Newark on September 25, 1930, the daughter of William and Lulu Orlopp Buck. She attended the Newark Public School and graduated from high school in 1948 as salutatorian. She attended Michigan State University and the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston; she worked for the Wright and Livingston Law Office in Newark. When Mr. Livingston became a New York State Supreme Court Justice, she went with him as his secretary and assistant confidential clerk. Following Justice Livingston's death, she retired. Mary Lou had participated in many civic matters, and for many years was an active member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Newark. She leaves her husband of 29 years, Harold J. Stiles, a retired Wayne County Judge and Acting Justice of the New York Supreme Court; she also leaves a brother, William Buck of Silver Spring, Maryland; four stepchildren, Pamela, John, James, and David Stiles, to whom she was a loving surrogate mother.

VanNorman, Anne C. - Anne (Crothers) VanNorman, 46, died June 18, 2000 at her home on Highland Avenue, Newark. She had owned and operated local boutique, 'BackStreet' on South Main Street since 1990. Anne was born July 11, 1953 in Rochester to Lyman and Betty Drake Crothers. Her parents are both deceased. Anne is survived by two children, Amy VanNorman of Rochester and Jay VanNorman of Newark; two sisters, Mary (Creig) Wienke of Holliston, MA and Kathy Seymour of Newark; brother, Charles (Joanna) Crothers of Annapolis, MD; several nieces and nephews. Interment in Newark cemetery.

DePoint, John I., Sr. - John I. DePoint, Sr., of Marion, died June 15, 2000 at age 82. Mr. DePoint was a World War II veteran. Graveside military service was held on June 19 at Marion cemetery. He is survived by his daughter, Diane (Donald) Schoonerman of Richmond, VA; his son, John (Debby) DePoint, Palmyra; 3 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret.

Foretich, Dorothy - Dorothy Foretich of Marion died June 5, 2000 at the hospital in Newark. She made her home with her friend Peggie Phillips and family. Interment in Marion cemetery.

Phillips, Robert Andrew - Robert A. Phillips, 75, of Manchester and of Newark, died June 20, 2000 at DeMay Living Center, Newark. He was born on Dec. 30, 1924, in Watertown, the son of Carl and Florence Beadle Phillips. He was a machinist first class with the Navy during World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Howard, a minesweeper, in the Pacific Theater. Bob graduated in 1950 from Niagara University with a bachelor of science degree in economics. He had worked for 25 years as a machinist in the 'short run shop' for Xerox, retiring in 1987. He was also an Alcoholics Anonymous counselor for 24 years with FLACRA in Newark, the Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Springs, and the Caron Foundation in Rochester. Bob was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and had been a member of the Oatka Masonic Lodge in Scottsville. Interment in Riverview cemetery, Phelps. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beatrice Lange Phillips, and nine children: Robert (Patricia) of El Paso, TX, Michael (JoAnn) of Marion, Sharon (Frank) All of Newark, Thomas of Marion, Patricia (Bernard) Pulver of Canandaigua, Pamela of Newark, David (Elizabeth) of Shortsville, Suzanne of Newark, and Jeffrey (Patricia) of Albuquerque, NM; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and a son, Patrick.

DeWispelaere, Peter - Peter DeWispelaere, of Newark, died June 20, 2000. He was born in Groede, Holland, worked at Garlock Packing Co., was a volunteer fireman and fire policeman, and was active in the Newark Volunteer Fire Department Deluge Hose Co. #1. He had a winter home in Seminole, FL. Interment in Palmyra cemetery. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth (Hickey) DeWispelaere; daughters, Donna (Jim) Fitch, Ann (Dennis) Fosnaugh, Mary (Kevin) McDermott; 10 grandsons; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette (Paul) DeBout and Madolyn Tierson; nieces and nephews.

Steele, Lena Marie - Lena Marie Steele, 72, died June 25, 2000 at Newark Manor. Lena was born Nov. 23, 1927 in Ithaca, the daughter of Luigi and Mary Asunda Cavone. She was retired from the Newark Developmental Center, having worked in food service; she was a member of the CSEA. Interment in Oak Lawn cemetery in Oaks Corners. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Vicki) of Ontario and Stephen of Newark; daughter, Ruth Ann (Delbert) Zuller of Macedon; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Paul Cavone of Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Steele; her longtime companion, William Davenport; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Steele.

Boss, Jennie Everdyke - Jennie Everdyke Boss, 86, of E. Miller St., Newark, died June 26, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Jennie was born May 12, 1914, in Williamson, the daughter of John and Jennie Timmerman DeRue. She was a waitress for over 40 years at Frederick's Restaurant, Steak & Rib and Crockford's. She was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW auxiliaries in Newark. Interment in Marion cemetery. She is survived by daughter, Mrs. Dolores (Gordon) DeVall of North Rose; two granddaughters, Patricia (Gale) Guthrie of North Rose and Kathleen (Todd) Rowley of Wolcott; four great-grandsons; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Rupert.

Porray, Bernard F. - Bernard F. Porray, 85, died June 25, 2000, at the Pines of Peace in Ontario. Bernie was a lifelong member of the Walworth United Methodist Church, where he was Head Usher for 50 years. He was the former chairman of the Wayne Co. ASCS, 30 yr. member of the Walworth Town Assessment Committee, and an avid supporter of Wayne Central athletic teams. Interment in Furnaceville cemetery, Ontario. He is survived by his wife of 66 yrs., Engartha; daughter, Phyllis (James) Kommer of Newark; sons, Bernard Jr., (Katherine), Lyle (Lori) both of Fairport; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Melba Porray, Darlene Strussenberg, Lucille (John) Van Hall; nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by brother Kenneth of Las Vegas; & sister Marjorie Brown of Webster.

Harris, Rochlene Ann - Rochlene Ann Harris, 40, of Jackson St., Lyons, died suddenly on June 24, 2000 at Rochester General Hospital. Rochlene was born in Sodus on Feb. 12, 1960, daughter to Donald and Doris Smith Brown. She was employed at McDonald's in Lyons. Interment is in the Newark cemetery. Surviving are her husband, Arthur; daughter, Jacqueline; stepson, Jamie; her father, Donald Brown of Sodus Center; two sisters, Thelma Orta of Lyons and Lori Mashtare of Herkimer; four brothers, Owen (Jennell) Brown of Brockport, Dale Brown of Rochester, Robert Jr., and Larry Widey, both of California; stepmother, Eleanor Putman. She was predeceased by her son, Jeremy; her mother, Doris Brown; sister, Donna Peets; her twin brother, Leo Brown; and Christopher Wildey.

Schneider, Edgar L. - Edgar L. Schneider, 91, died June 24, 2000 at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons. Mr. Schneider was born Aug. 12, 1908, in Baltimore, the son of Louis C. and Mamie Kappler Schneider. He worked all his life at the family business, Purity Cake Co. in Baltimore, which was started by his grandfather. He moved to Newark in 1991, after the death of his wife of 59 years, Edna Schaub Schneider. Burial will be in Loudon Park, Baltimore, MD. He is survived by his daughter, Jeanne (Maurice) Strobridge of Newark; three grandchildren, Richard of San Diego, Lori (Jeffery) Stanton of Camp Hill, PA and Stephen (Anne Marie) of Fairport; six great-grandchildren.
