Westlake, OH/ PALMYRA - Died on October 17, 2009 at 94 years. Predeceased by her husband Robert Jeffery and daughter Linda Jeffery Juliard. Survived by her children, Sue (Neil) Hoffman and Mary (Scott) Fitz; 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. All are invited to attend her Funeral Service, 2PM Sunday, October 25 at Zion Episcopal Church. Followed by burial at Palmyra cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Episcopal Memorial Fund or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Arrangements by McGuire/Hargrave & Murphy Funeral Home.

Knapp, C. Robert

PALMYRA / SODUS - Died peacefully at home on October 13, 2009 at age 92. Survived by his wife Susanna; daughter Lisa (Fred) Kaempffe; grandsons, Erich, Brandon; sister Hulda Pfeiffer; several nieces, nephews & cousins.
Bob was most proud of his service to his country in the Air force during WW II as a B-25 pilot, flying 53 missions in the Italian and North African Theater. At home, he was an insurance agent with his father, Spencer and brother, Sheldon. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the VFW, American Legion and the First Baptist Church and past school board member.
Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Services at 1PM Tuesday at McGuire/Hargrave & Murphy Funeral Home, 123 East Jackson St, Palmyra, followed by his Committal Service at Palmyra cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palmyra VFW or Palmyra American Legion Post in his memory.

Reynolds, Claire E. “Dutch”

PALMYRA - Died on October 13, 2009 at age 84. Survived by his wife Eunice (DeMay) Reynolds; children, Bonnie Reynolds (Jim) Wenham, Deborah Reynolds (Gary) Wood, Norm (Renee) Reynolds; grandchildren, Matthew (Lola) Wenham, David Wenham, Gregory Wood, Allison Wood, Lana Reynolds; great-grandchild Claire Marie Wenham (his namesake); sister Geraldine (Edward) Lonneville; brother A. Eugene Reynolds.
“Dutch” was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, a member of the Masonic Lodge, Palmyra Reformed Church and past Palmyra Village Board member. Friends are invited to call Friday 2-4 & 7-9PM at McGuire/Hargrave & Murphy Funeral Home, 123 E. Jackson St, Palmyra. His Funeral will be held 10AM Saturday at Palmyra Reformed Church, followed by his burial at Palmyra cemetery and church reception. Solea, Paul P.

ONTARIO - Died at 86 years of age. Paul was born in Clifton Springs, NY to Frank & MaryGrace (Goccia) Solea on July 17, 1923 & went home for eternity on October 4, 2009. He joined the Army & served his country with pride during WWII in Europe as a member of the 101st Airborne. For his service he received the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars & the Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 Bronze Cluster. After his military service he started his career as a Roofer which he worked at for almost 60 years. Although he was a roofer by trade, he was a frustrated farmer at heart. He found great joy over the years with his apple orchard, strawberry fields, horses, cows & ducks. His passion for hunting was known to all. Paul is predeceased by his parents, Frank & MaryGrace Solea & 2 brothers, Frank & Peter. Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Joanne; son Steven of TX; daughters, Sandra & Suzanne of NY, Helen (Dave) of MI; 5 grandchildren, Brent (Leah), whose help with his Grandpa’s care was invaluable, Paulette, Christine, Andrew, Stephanie; 7 great-grandchildren; cousin Phil (Irma) of IL. Paul also leaves behind dear & treasured friends, Gene & Abby Sauer, Sandra (the late Joe) & Annette SanFillipo, Joe & Marcia Englert, Tim & Marta Dippel. Thank you to Larry Lozipone & Tammy Lozipone. Heartfelt thanks to “Paul’s Angels” from the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua, Michelle, Cheryl & Colleen for all their support, caring for Paul as he battled with Dementia. Special thanks to the staff of 5 East at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester, Michigan & Hospice of Michigan for the incredible compassion shown to Paul & the support given to Joanne, Helen, Dave & Andrew. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation in memory of Paul to Lollipop Farm, The Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice of Michigan or The Airborne and Special Forces Museum.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 16th at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 1961 Ridge Rd, Ontario. Private interment to follow on Saturday, October 17.

Sluss, Siebert “Jack”

ONTARIO - Jack Sluss, formerly of Ridge Road, died peacefully on October 11, 2009 at age 87. Jack, a career navy man and chief gunners mate, served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Last year, he was honored by the Lyons VFW for being the only Pearl Harbor survivor in Wayne County. Jack’s second career was at Xerox in Webster where he worked for 25 years. Jack was a gentle soft spoken man who loved working on his farm, in his woods and spending time with family.
Predeceased by his wife Cynthia. Survived by his daughter Cynthia (Fred) Miller of Ontario; granddaughters, Amy Herman of Canastota and Andrea Miller-Fluker of Ontario; great-grandchildren Abigail and Caleb; sister Elsie Watkins and family (GA), and step-daughter Muriel Watson and family (CA), and close friends Nona Morrow and Emily Kleman.

Grandin, David W.

PALMYRA - Died on October 5, 2009 at age 60. Survived by his wife Diane; sisters Joan, Pat & Donna; several nieces & nephews.

Johnson, MaryAnn

PALMYRA - Died on September 29, 2009 at age 68. Survived by her husband Clyde Johnson; daughter Lisa Johnson.

Pulcini, Henry A.

NEWARK - Age 73 was received into God’s loving hands on September 24, 2009 at home with his family by his side. He fought a long & courageous battle with cancer. Henry ws born April 4, 1936 in Palmyra, son of the late Bernard & Francis Pulcini. He is survived by his loving wife Linda; children, Cindy Baker, Peoria, IL, Alan (Kim) Pulcini & Laurie (Ed) Polle, Palmyra; step-children, Pamela Murphy, Rochester, Rev. Richard (Eleanor) Hack, Elmira, Marcia (James) Henning, Macedon, Wendy Johnson, Marion, Stephanie (Thomas) Knapp, Moore, SC, Tracy (Michael) D’Arduini, Newark; sisters, Elvira (Joseph) Gala, E. Rochester, Betty Thompson, Palmyra; brothers, Walter (Harriet) Pulcini, Palmyra, Albert (Yolanda) Pulcini, Lindhurst, NJ; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Frank, Floyd, Bernard Pulcini; sisters, Margaret Yahn, Anita Orlopp; son-in-law Dr. Steven Baker; grandson Nathan Hack.
He served 2 years in the Marine Corps, rank Sergeant, receiving and Honorable Discharge in 1958. Was employed at Garlock Mechanical Packing for 10 years. Owned & operated Pulcini Restaurant & Grocery Store & Bar 21, both in Marion. He owned his own masonary business for 30 years, retiring at the age of 63. He was a kind & loving man. Respected by all who knew him. Always ready to help someone out or share his workshop. Henry enjoyed visiting relatives in Italy, splitting & selling wood & being outdoors. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren & large family. He will be truly missed & remembered by all who knew him.
Friends & family are invited to call Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 at the PAYNE & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME 1040 Rt. 31, Macedon. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 9AM at St. Anne’s Church, Palmyra. Rottman, Thomas A.

WALWORTH - passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on September 16, 2009, at his home. Predeceased by his father Thomas W. Rottman. Survived by his loving wife Nancy; beloved daughter Kelly; mother Carmela; siblings, Pam (Jim) Bell, Robert (Debbie) Rottman; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; in-laws, Janice, Janie (Jim), Linda, Jerry (Diane); many friends; & our faithful dog Dexter

Osterhout, Mark David

ONTARIO - Died on September 17, 2009, at age 47. Survived by his wife Mechelle; beloved son David; mother Joan; sisters, Laurie (Russ) Zaft, Julie (George) Bolender; brothers, Alan (Nica), Neil (Karie); several nieces & nephews; & many friends. Mark has gone to join his father David Osterhout, sisters, Wendy DeMartini, Angela Osterhout, & niece Angela Bolender. Mark was a man of few words. He loved his family, friends & his music. Mark will be greatly missed by all of us.
His family will receive his friends at a graveside service 10AM Wednesday at Calvary cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pines of Peace. Arrangements by MURPHY FUNERAL HOME.

Wizeman, Nancy M.

PALMYRA - Died on September 19, 2009 at age 78. Predeceased by her Husband Joseph E. Wizeman. Survived by her children James Wizeman, Suzanne (Robert) Schwalb, Matthew Wizeman, Thomas Wizeman, Tim Wizeman, Rev. William Wizeman, Joseph R. (Lisa) Wizeman; 5 grandchildren, James, Sarah, Katie, Lydia, Samuel; several nieces & nephews. Friends are invited to call 4-7PM Wednesday at McGUIRE/HARGRAVE & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME 123 East Jackson St., Palmyra. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9AM Thursday at St. Anne's Church, Palmyra, followed by her Committal at St. Anne's cemetery. Donations may be made to House of John in her memory.

Buck, Charles Wesley

ONTARIO - Born June 15, 1921 in Fancher, NY. Died September 14, 2009 after a brief illness. Son of Charles Herbert Buck & Isabelle Richey Buck. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Edith Chase Buck of Painted Post, NY; 5 children, Jeffery Buck of Scotia, NY, Cheryl Mascitti of Rochester, John Buck of Mendon, Jamey Buck of Seal Rock, OR, David Buck of Amherst; 6 grandchildren, Jeremy Buck, Stephen Scibienski, Alison Arnold, Michael Scibienski, Scott Buck, Melina Buck; 7 great grandchildren, Mackenzie Buck, Ryan Arnold, Emma Scibienski, Addison Buck, Matthew Scibienski, Nathan Arnold, Ava Scibienski.
He attended Albion HS & holds record for 100 yard dash. He served in US Navy Lighter Than Air Corps, patrolled US coast in blimps during WWII, & played pulling guard for the base football team. He attended RIT for engineering. Charles worked for Morgan Machines, had a hot dog & popcorn stand, worked for Garlock Inc., & as an industrial engineer at Xerox Corporation before retiring in 1982. Charlie also worked tirelessly on his 1838 cobblestone farmhouse. He loved golf, dogs, his family & his church. He was a longtime member of the Ontario Center Presbyterian congregation & served as an elder. He had a piper cub & flew out of Palmyra. He served the community for many years as a town councilman, as well as serving on the town planning, county planning, regional planning & town zoning boards. He had Sea Scout group that sailed on Irondequoit Bay. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 126 & was an advocate for Wayne County’s migrant workers & their families.
Memorial services will held at Ontario Center Presbyterian Church on Saturday September 19 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ontario Center Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by MURPHY FUNERAL HOME.

Houghtaling, Elizabeth "Gertie, Betty"

MACEDON - Died on September 12, 2009 at age 89. Predeceased by her husband, James; son, Frank. Survived by her daughters, "Fuzzy" (Bob) Taber, Elsie French; grandchildren, Robert (Debbie) Taber, Karyn Taber, Robin Mitchell, Sheri French; sisters, Katherine Akens, Evelyn DeBadts; several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Kern Clark, Lois

Lois Kern Clark returned to God Tuesday evening, September 8, 2009, peacefully and surrounded by family. She is survived by her children Charles, Douglas (Donna, deceased), Kathleen, David (Pamela), Mathew, and Karen (John), 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; her siblings- 3 sisters and 2 brothers (1 deceased), numerous nieces and nephews, Edward Kern, and her loving companion dog, “Muffin”.
No matter her jobs or capacity; (security, paramedic/EMT instructor, mental health, nursing/home health aide, patient advocacy etc..) her mission in any day was to be in service to humanity. Her accomplishments through the lives she touched, are too numerous to mention. She is much loved and will be missed greatly.
Because there are no services being held, those who wish to pay respects should offer a prayer privately or you may wish to send a donation in memorial to the Open Door Mission, Box 14236, Rochester, NY 14608 or any charity of choice. Plans for a celebration of her life, in memorial, are being made for mid-October. Please consult www.murphyfuneralservices.com in a few weeks for details, all are welcome.

Hunt-Ingraham, Rachel

PALMYRA - Died on September 4, 2009 at age 86. Predeceased by her husbands, Melvin O. Hunt, Robert Ingraham; children, Janet Orlopp, Albert M. Hunt, Thomas C. Hunt. Survived by her children, Audrey LLano, Clifford (Judy) Hunt, Melanie (Dennis) Blankenberg; daughter-in-law, Jean A. Hunt; 29 grandchildren; brother, Morris (Mary) DePaepe; sisters-in-law, Ruth DePaepe, Audrey Hunt-Renna; brother-in-law; Lester Hunt II; several nieces, nephews & lifelong friend Eva Lape. Gunkler, Robert D. “Bob”

PALMYRA - Died on September 2, 2009 at home, age 66. Survived by his wife Janet; children, Conrad Gunkler, Ten Khuu, Cim (James) McFarlane, Mimi Nguyen, Kathy (Tim) Dumbleton, Tom (Sandy) Gunkler, Angie Gunkler; grandchildren, Emily & Jacob McFarlane; Aunt Connie Vinke; many cousins & friends.
Bob began serving our community in 1989 on the Palmyra Zoning Board of Appeals. In 1996, he was elected Village Trustee and served until 2001, when he became Village Mayor. He also served for 12 years on the Wayne County Fair Board. Bob is an Elder at the Western Presbyterian Church.
All are invited to call Saturday 2-4&7-9PM at McGuire/Hargrave & Murphy Funeral Home, 123 E. Jackson St, Palmyra. WILLIAMSON - Formerly of Somerset, PA. Died peacefully on Sept 1, 2009 surrounded by his family. Survived by his wife Bonnie Lou Greer (Judd); sons, Kevin L. Greer, Jerry “Bub” L. Greer; step-children, Nicholas (Heidi) Kozak, Melissa (Zach) Dumais, Kristina (Chris) Grant, Ralph Judd IV; grandchildren including, Gunner L. Greer, Logan L. Greer; siblings including, Jerry E. (Barb) Greer of Somerset, PA; nieces & nephews.
