Gentile, Mary L. (Anthony)

ONTARIO - Mary was born in Rose, NY on March 5, 1923 and after a long time illness, she passed away peacefully on July 30, 2013 at age 90. Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and Carl Anthony; sister, Lois Mead. She is survived by her husband of 66 years of marriage, Al Gentile of Ontario, NY; children, Deborah Wilson of Sterling, VA, Pamela (John) Pierri of Fairport, NY, Thomas (Shelley) Gentile of Pultneyville, NY and Renee Erb of Evergreen, CO; 8 grandchildren, Stefany Glessner, Lindsey Ortega, Nicholas and Christopher Pierri, Renee Bryce, Korey and Katlyn Erb, Emily and Jared Gentile; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to join the family Monday (August 5), from 4-7 PM at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1961 Ridge Road, Ontario, NY. Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday (August 6) 11 AM at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 5823 Walworth-Ontario Rd. Interment in Lakeview cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, in Mary’s memory.

Hawkins, David N. “Dave” “Hawk”

MACEDON / VICTOR - David N. Hawkins, age 78, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 with his family by his side. Predeceased by his parents, Jean and Norris Hawkins, David is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary; daughter Pamela; son Mark (Lori) Hawkins; grandchildren Chad, Lucas and Jacob; great grandchildren Andrew and Aidan. David is also survived by his only brother Paul (Sue) Hawkins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
David lived a very active life. He had a strong sense of community and could often be found helping out his neighbors. He graduated from Penn State University and then obtained his masters degree from RIT. He was the past mayor of Victor and has been described as being a “hands on mayor”. David loved the outdoors and enjoyed a life time of hunting, especially with his son and friends. He was actively involved in the development of Fisher’s Park. His enjoyment for the outdoors carried over to his gardens. David’s family was a priority and he got involved in activities that allowed them to spend time together. Both he and his son, Mark, spent many years participating in dirt track racing. He was an organizer for the Victor Pop Warner and Vince Lombardi Football programs and was an associate member of the Jaycee Club. The Victor Chamber of Commerce recognized David as 1983 Citizen of the Year. In his early years, David went to work for Stromberg Carlson and then Xerox, before going to work for Ultrafab in Farmington where he became VP of manufacturing and engineering.
There will be no prior calling. A celebration of David’s life will be offered on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 1PM at Willowbrook Christian Church, 619 High Street in Victor. Interment private. Memorials in memory of David may be directed to Lifetime Care.

Prindle, Diana

ONTARIO - On July 31, 2013 at Pines of Peace Comfort Care Home in Ontario. At her request, all services will be held privately.

Friedler, Glenn A.

ONTARIO - Peacefully on July 26, 2013 at the age of 90. Predeceased by his wife Nancy. Glenn is survived by his Children, Katie, Jim, John, Mike (Pam) and Glenn Friedler; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Glenn was an apple farmer in his early years, then went to work for Xerox. Glenn served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Glenn was stationed in N. Africa, Italy and Corsica.
Friends may visit on Monday, July 29, 2013 from 5-8PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1961 Ridge Road, Ontario; where a celebration of Glenn's life will by held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 1PM. Interment Calvary cemetery. Memorials in memory of Glenn may be directed to the Martha Ministry, c/o St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 5823 Ontario-Walworth Road, Ontario, NY 14519.

O'Malley, April (Haase)

VICTOR - passed away on October 3, 2013 at the age of 39 surrounded by her family. April is survived by her husband, Steve O'Malley; children, Lauren, Ashley and Collin; parents, Robert and Harriet Haase; sister, Amy Haase; brother, Rob Haase; grandmother, Doris Sheldon; in-laws, Tony and Brenda O'Malley, many relatives, cousins, and dear friends.
Friends are invited to join the family Friday, October 11, 2013 from 4-6:30PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1040 Route 31, Macedon, NY where a celebration of April's life will be held at 6:30PM. McKee, Judy Lynn

MACEDON - January 25, 1963 - October 4, 2013. Judy was predeceased by her mother and father, Betty and Samuel McKee and Uncle David Osterhout. She is survived by her siblings, Nancy (Harland) Benedict, Gary (Sally) McKee, Sally (Russell) Malkowski, Dale Smialek, Betsy Hughes, Ethel Schneider, Susan (Kenneth) Phelps, and Jill (Scott) York; uncle Alvin (Shirley) Osterhout and Aunt Joan Osterhout; several nieces, nephews & Cousins. Judy touched the lives of all who knew her with her abundant love. She will alway be remembered as a our gift from God.

Noto, Jean F. (Keenan)

ONTARIO - Jean left us on October 3, 2013 at the age of 80, after a courageous battle with her illnesses. Jean was predeceased by her husband Louis Noto; brothers and sister. She is survived by her son, Mark Noto; daughters, Deborah (George Kubishin) Noto and Elizabeth (Jeff Raley) Noto; several nieces and nephews; friend Donald Foster. Jean was a member of the Ontario American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 55 years. She worked as a realtor, broker, and on the Town of Ontario Assessment Board of Review.
Friends are invited to join the family on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1961 Ridge Road, Ontario, NY 14519, where her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 10AM. Her interment will take place at Furnaceville cemetery in Ontario. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Jean may be directed to a charity of one's choice.

Smith, Douglas C. (Doug)

MACEDON - was born to the late Elery and Marjorie Smith, on August 15, 1938, in Marion, NY. As the Head Produce Buyer, he worked for Wegmans for 42 years. He was greatly respected and is remembered for his honesty and integrity in all dealings. He was also an avid reader, walker, and enjoyed working in his flower gardens. He is remembered as a loving husband, doting grandfather, who dearly loved his children, and was an honorable, sincere man with a wonderful sense of humor and a smile and laugh that warmed everyone around him.
Doug is predeceased by his deeply loved wife, Mary Jane (Roegiers). He is survived by his children Michelle (Mark) Hall of Liverpool, NY and Michael (Megan) Smith of Walworth, NY; grandchildren: Matthew Broekhuizen (Cori Blake), Cody Broekhuizen (Rheve Cliff), Austin and Addison Smith; his sister Cindy (Patric) Amarando, his brothers Gary (Karen) Smith, Jerry Smith, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends are invited to join the family on Sunday (October 6) from 2-5 PM at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1040 Route 31, Macedon, NY. His funeral service will be held on Monday (October 7) at 11 AM at The United Church of Marion, 3848 North Main St., Marion, NY. His interment will be held at Marion cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Hildebrandt Hospice or American Cancer Society in Douglas’ memory.

Wixson, William A. "Bill"

PORT GIBSON - Suddenly on September 25, 2013 at the age of 70. Survived by his wife of 49 years Freda; 2 children, W. Allen (Jamie) Wixson and Cynthia (Gary) Amidon; 5 grandchildren, Seth, Joseph, Ashley, Sarah and Carly Jo; sister, Ethel (Don) Bovard, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill and Freda spent many years working together as over the road truck drivers. Most of their driving was done throughout the country east of the Mississippi. Bill was retired from Gypsum Express out of Baldwinsville. Bill and Freda have spent many years in the East Palmyra, Port Gibson area and have enjoyed time spent with their grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 10-12 noon at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 123 East Jackson Street, where a service will follow at noon. Interment East Palmyra cemetery. Memorials in memory of Bll may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Deys, William Jr. "Bill"

Palmyra, NY / Rochester, Michigan - Died peacefully at the age of 93, on Sunday, September 22, 2013 in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Bill was born in Macedon, NY and was a longtime resident of Palmyra, NY. Bill was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Helen; brother, Arthur (Art) Deys of Pennsylvania; sister Elizabeth and brother-in-law Clarence Smith of Geneva, NY; sister-in-law, Ruth (Harry) Deys of Rochester, NY; parents, William and Cornelia Deys of Rochester, NY. Bill is survived by his brother, Harry Deys of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law Elsie Deys of Pennsylvania; son, David (Joanne) Deys of Rochester, Michigan; grandchildren, Matthew Deys of Buffalo, NY, Jessica Deys of St. Petersburg, Florida, Samantha and Alexandra Deys of Rochester, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill was an extremely proud American and veteran. He served his country during WWII and received an honorable discharge on April 2, 1946 as a First Lieutenant, 794th Squadron, 468th Bomb group, 58th Wing 20th Air Force. Bill was retired as a supervisor for Garlock Sealing Technologies in Palmyra.
Friends are invited to join the family on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 4-7PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 123 East Jackson Street, Palmyra. On Saturday, friends are invited to join the family from 10-11AM at the (Note location) Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1040 Route 31, Macedon where a celebration of Bill's life will be offered at 11AM. Interment will follow at Palmyra Village cemetery. Memorials in memory of Bill may be directed to the VFW Palmyra Memorial Post 6778, 4306 Route 31, Palmyra, NY 14522; or the Amerian Legion James R. Hickey Post 120, 128 Cuyler Street, Palmyra, NY 14522.

Purdum, Thomas Lyle Jr.

Wolcott: Age 86, passed away Saturday (September 21, 2013) at the Fairport Baptist Home. Mr. Purdum was born December 12, 1926 in Queens, NY, the son of Thomas L. and Emilie Foster Purdum. Mr. Purdum is predeceased by his wife, Donna Scott Purdum and he is survived by his brother, Ronald Wade Purdum; children Diane (Don) Koch, Mark Purdum and Susan (Jeff) Curtis; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and his very best friend and companion Betsy VanNorstrand. Mr. Purdum was a loving father and grandfather and enjoyed family gatherings. He had a great love for sailing and during the summers he would normally be found on Lake Ontario or Sodus Bay. He was also a fan of the Buffalo Bills and Syracuse Orange football and basketball teams. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Services will be private with immediate family.

Luteyn, Donald A. Jr.

ONTARIO - On September 20, 2013 at age 61. Survived by his wife of 26 years, Christine; daughters, Jennifer (Rich Ahlers) Luteyn, Amanda (Josh) Goetz; son Donald III; father, Donald A. (Clare) Luteyn, Sr.; Mother-in-law Joyce Granger. Predeceased by his mother Elizabeth “Betty” DePoint Luteyn and father-in-law Peter Granger. Also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Donald enjoyed sporting clays/skeet, NASCAR, grilling, friends and family. All are invited to gather on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 4-7PM at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1961 Ridge Road, Ontario where a service will follow at 7PM. Interment private. Rifenberg, Justin Adam

PALMYRA / MACEDON - Suddenly on September 14, 2013 at the age of 17. Survived by his mother Tammy (Tim Schreiber) Rifenberg and father Tim Rifenberg; siblings, Ryan and Dylan Rifenberg, Rachel, Mitchell and Hannah Schreiber; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, niece Bella, other relatives and friends.
Justin was a 2013 graduate of Palmyra-Macedon High School, a member of the National Honor Society, and a long time wrestler. Justin was a freshman at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 2-8 PM at the Cross Creek Church located at 3700 Route 31 in Palmyra. A funeral service will be offered on Friday at 10AM in the church and a burial service will follow at St. Anne's cemetery in the Village of Palmyra. Bassage, Barbara J. (Roethel) “Gracu”

ONTARIO / WALWORTH - passed away suddenly on September 14, 2013 at the age of 74. Survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob; children, Bethany (John) Jaeger, Beverly (Brian Edwards) Bassage, Robert J. (Sharon) Bassage and Rebecca (Kevin) Groff; grandchildren, Jacob, Mitchell, Alexander and Jillian; siblings Mim, Don, Jimmy, Jerry and Tina; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kolstad, Cynthia (Curtis) "Cindy"

ONTARIO / WEBSTER - Died peacefully on September 12, 2013, at the age of 56, after a determined fight against cancer. Predeceased by parents, Emily and Jack Curtis; sister, Sharon Greenhagan; mother and father-in-law, Norma and Ed Kolstad; and sister-in-law Judy Kolstad Stone. Cindy is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Josh (Katrina) Kolstad; precious granddaughter, Piper; her sister Kathleen (Neil) Webster; brother John (Cathy) Curtis; special aunt, Bobbie DeOude; several nieces, nephews, other relatives; and special friends Marcia, Roberta and Leslie.
Cindy was a retiree from GRS and was a "spitfire". An ardent animal lover, Cindy had a special fondness for her dogs Brewster and Castle. She had an artisitic touch which could be easily recognized through her drawing, home decor, and her free spirit dancing.
Cindy loved good times and parties with family and friends. A lasting impression was left upon all who knew and loved Cindy.
No prior calling. A celebration of Cindy's life will take place on October 5, 2013 at 2PM, at the home of both she and her husband, Bill, on Lake Road, Ontario, NY. Memorials in memory of Cindy may be directed to Lollypop Farm.

McAuliff, James "Jim"

MACEDON / WALWORTH - passed away peacefully on September 12, 2013 at the age of 66. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Charlene; daughters, Jackie (Richard) Turner, Kim LaBerge & Christine (Jerry) Gullo; 8 grandchildren, TJ, Tyler, Jerry, Kyle, Hannah, Hayley, Dylan & Joey; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
