Williamson, Alice R.

PALMYRA - Died Friday July 25, 2003 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons. Alice is survived by daughter Mary Eleanor Laskowski of Texas; son Thomas Williamson of Alabama; sister Mary Stevely of Oregon and 4 grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her husband William. She was an alumni of SUNY Geneseo (class of 1932), and had taught in the Newark School District. A memorial service will be held Tuesday July 29th, 10:30 a.m. at Zion Episcopal Church in Palmyra, interment Palmyra cemetery at the convenience of the family. PALMYRA - Died on July 21, 2003 in Orono, Maine at the home of her daughter. A long time resident of Palmyra, she is survived by daughter Kathleen Nora March; son-in-law Luis Martul; granddaughter Kimberleigh Martul-March; numerous other grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren. Johncox, Miriam M.

ONTARIO - Born May 13, 1909 in St. Louis to Maude and Jacob Meeker. She was predeceased by brother and sister Olin and Naomi Meeker. Survived by her husband Wilson, sister Louise Booker and children Peter and Michael Daly, Mark Johncox and Joanne Mortimer; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. At her brother Olin's request, she moved from St. Louis to Rochester (April 27, 1927) the same day that Lindbergh flew to Paris. She had worked for attorneys in a secretarial capacity and then later as a confidential opinion clerk for the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court. Miriam had an enormous vocabulary and a great memory. Besides her family she was involved in community affairs and programs. She was an excellent pianist, enjoying music to the fullest. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts and playing cards. She was a people person and loved to travel. Through Rotary Club she was able to visit 20 different countries in Europe, Asia, New Zealand, Antarctica, South America and the South Sea Islands. She was a gentle, loving and caring person who will be missed by those who knew her. A graveside service will be Sunday August 10th at Furnaceville cemetery, Trimble Road, Ontario. The family has requested that donations in lieu of flowers should be directed to the John Knox Health Center, 621 S.W. 6th Street, Pompano Beach, FL, 33060. Arr: MURPHY FUNERAL HOME.

Welch, Virginia A. (Ginny)

PALMYRA - Entered into rest after a courageous battle with cancer on July 22, 2003. She will be deeply missed and is survived by her children, Kurt Murray, Tamara (Kevin) Follett, Trevor Murray (Donna Whitcomb), Kelli Murray (Scott Finnerty); 9 grandchildren, Ami (Kevin) Williams, Amber Snyder (Keith Cook), Wade (Shay Lee) Synder, Ryan, Abbie, Adam, Lindsey, Jennifer and Kaitlin; great grandchildren, Tyler and Kennandy Williams, and Kaidance Snyder; sisters, Alice (Jerry) Reeves, Kathy Frey, Geraldine Allen and Eleanor (Bill) Girth; great aunt and uncle, Alice and Tom Ward as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Francis Welch; brothers, Thomas and James and grandsons, Andrew and Eric.

Brown, Sharon Ann

PALMYRA - Friday July 18, 2003 at age 55. Sharon is survived by her husband Joseph L. Brown; daughters Jessica (Aaron) Krocke and Melissa Brown; mother Emma Celso; sister Dorothy Dorizio; brothers John and Robert Celso. Sharon was predeceased by her father Benjamin Celso and by sisters Marian Mass and Grace Doran. Many will remember Sharon for her compassion and helping others. She enjoyed her career working at the Wayne County Department of Social Services, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, DeMay Living Center and the Finger Lakes Performing Arts Center in Canandaigua. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, from 1-3 & 5-9 p.m. at McGUIRE/HARGRAVE & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 123 East Jackson Street, Palmyra. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Anne’s Church in Palmyra. FARMINGTON - passed away Monday, July 14, 2003, age 61 following a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, George Joseph; her sisters, JoAnne (Mark) Hopkins and MaryAnn Lavonas; nephews, Bob and Phil Lavonas, Sean Hopkins; as well as many cousins and friends. Shoemaker, John E. "Jack"

MARION - Monday July 14, 2003 at age 67. Jack is survived by his wife Denise Fischette Shoemaker; children Robin (Thomas) DeWitt and Scott (Cindy Hummel) Shoemaker; grandchildren Scott, Stephanie, Samantha Shoemaker and Stacey and Courtney DeWitt; brother Charles (Olivia) Shoemaker, sisters Margaret Brake and Betty (Don) Eberlin; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack retired from Mobil Chemical in September 1992 as a manager where he had been employed for 35 years. Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years Santa Maimone Gabriel; children Bob (Robin) Gabriel of Ontario, Joyce Sorce of Seneca Falls and Beverly (Robert) Kennedy of Melbourne FL; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Frank was a World War II Army Veteran having served in the Luzon and New Guinea campaigns. WEST WALWORTH - Age 70, of West Walworth & Frostproof, FL, died of heart failure on Jan. 29, 2003 at Lake Wales Medical Center, FL. Robert was born in Sodus, NY. He retired after 30 years as a production worker from Eastman Kodak. Bob was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army. He enjoyed camping, the outdoors & traveling in his RV. He is survived by his wife Eloise (Stalker) Coppens; brother William (Pat) Poole of Ontario; sister Elsie Schrankler of Williamson; uncle Edward Sarazyn of Wallington; several nieces, nephews, cousins & close friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12 at the Walworth United Methodist Church, Main St, Walworth. Interment to follow at Furnaceville cemetery. Ontario NY: Formerly of Buffalo, died July 4, 2003 at age 76. Dorothy is survived by her husband Albert G. Butzer Jr. of Ontario; sons Albert G. (Betsy) Butzer of Fairfax, VA, Timothy A. (Marta) Butzer of Ontario; grandchildren Avery, Emily, Katharine and Albert IV; one sister Ann Cawthorn of Welland, ON. Dorothy had worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at Millard Fillmore Hospital, had taught School of Religious Impression at Westminster Church and more recently had owned and operated Kinderloft, a children’s clothing store in the Buffalo area.
