Thisse, Martha Elizabeth

LOWVILLE/MACEDON - Died Friday April 7, 2006 at age 99 at Serenity House Hospice, Victor, where she had been a patient for several weeks. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Lehmkuhl of Macedon; grandson Kurt Lehmkuhl of Weserville, OH; 3 great grandchildren; & many nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by 4 sisters, Marion Krupp, Theo Loson, Marjorie Hill, Ruth Woolschlager; & son-in-law Thomas C. Lehmkuhl. Martha "Liz" was born November 29, 1906 in Martinsburg, NY, daughter of Arthur & Mae Seymour Stoddard. She attended Lowville Free Academy. She married Elmer W. Thisse on September 1, 1925 at her parent’s home near Lowville. The couple lived & operated the Effley Falls & Mosher Falls Hydroelectric power plants & later retired to Lowville. Mr. Thisse died April 9, 1999. Martha lived on Railroad St. for 30 years before moving to live with her daughter in Macedon in 1999. She was a wonderful homemaker, seamstress, gardener & enjoyed her knitting to her last days. Family & friends are invited to her Funeral Service 11AM, April 22 at the Zion Episcopal Church, East Main St, Palmyra. Burial will be 11AM, April 24 at Beaches Bridge cemetery, Lowville, NY. Memorials may be made to the Zion Episcopal Church Organ Fund or Serenity House Hospice 1278 Brace Rd, Victor, NY 14564 in her memory.

ONTARIO - Entered into rest on March 23, 2006 at age 57, after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife Patti (Imhof) Gropp; adoring children Caitlin Rose Gropp, Christopher John Gropp; mother Mary D. Gropp; siblings, Gary (Valerie) Gropp, Nancy (Don) Anderson; father-in-law Bernard Imhof; sisters-in-law, Anne (Ed) Chatt, CA, Susan (John) Whitaker, MI.; nieces & nephews, Kevin, Steven, Hunter, Olivia Gropp, Meredith Anderson, Andrew, Daniel, Carolyn Whitaker, Alex Chatt; many close friends & relatives. Predeceased by his father John W. Gropp & nephew Shelby Anderson. John was an avid hunter & fisherman who loved the great outdoors. MACEDON - Died on March 10, 2006 at age 84. predeceased by his son, Robert Clark, wife Martha Clark. He is survived by his daughter Alice Weaver; son Larry Clark; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Elmer was a life member of Macedon Fire Dept., serving almost 50 years, 22 as chief and almost 30 as an active member. He was a member of #1420 Palmyra Moose Lodge and had been superintendent of Macedon Public Works for around 20 years.

(Gwen) Gilfus, of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, John Gilfus, Stephen Gilfus, Paul Gilfus (Rebecca Kolstad), Julie Gilfus, Kimberly (James) Sutter, Ashley Gilfus, Quintin Gilfus, Phillip Gilfus; great grandchildren, Sarah Gilfus, Paige Sutter; sister Helen Pardington; brother Grover (Jan) Potter; sister-in-law Hazel Potter; several nieces & nephews. Her Memorial Service will be held 2PM Saturday at the 1st Baptist Church of Manchester. Donations may be made to the 1st Baptist Church of Manchester in her memory. Corky was a lifetime member of Wallington Fire Dept. & worked at the Town of Ontario Highway Dept. His funeral service will be held 2PM Saturday February 4th at the Wallington Fire Hall. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Geraldine Keymel Whitmire; 5 children, Andrea (Lee) Bortle of Marion, Marcia (Mike) Reybrouck of Macedon, Terri (Vern) Brown, Mark (Kathy) Whitmire, Patricia (Sid) Miller, all of Walworth; 13 grandchildren, Emily, April, Hannah, Samuel, Danielle, Dustin, Joshua, David, Paul, Stephanie, Justine, Benjamin & Landon; 8 Great grandchildren, Kyle, Treybien, Jade, Hunter, Susan, Patricia, Cloie, Kayla; 2 sisters, Beryl (LaVern) Morrison of Macedon, Sandra Carr of Tennessee; several nieces & nephews. Grant was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, retired from Xerox and a long time member of the North Ontario United Methodist Church.
