ERIC J. ZIELINSKI

Pine Bush, N.Y. - Eric J. Zielinski, lifetime resident and beloved child, died Saturday, February 9, 2003 at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, Middletown. He was 8. The son of Timothy Zielinski and Christine M. McNamara Zielinski, he was born on January 28, 1995 in New York City. According to the family, "Eric was a very special child. He was unique. He was loved by all who came in contact with him. He loved NASCAR racing, and watching TV all day. He will be deeply missed by all." Eric is survived by his beloved parents, at home; his loving sister, Nicole at home; his loving grandparents, William and Barbara McNamara of Chester, Frank and Margaret Zielinski of Bloomingburg; his aunts; uncles; and cousins. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the William M. Gagan Funeral Home, 1525 Burlingham Rd., Pine Bush, N.Y. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Infant Savior, Pine Bush. Father William Young will be officiating. Burial will be in New Prospect cemetery, Pine Bush. JAMES E. KENNEDY

Newburgh, N.Y. - James E. Kennedy, of Newburgh, a former letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Newburgh and long time area resident, entered into rest Saturday, February 9, 2003 in Cornwall Hospital. He was 84. Son of the late James and Alice Powers Kennedy, he was born March 29, 1918 in Middletown, N.Y. Mr. Kennedy was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, St. Mary's Church, and Our Lady of the Lake; as well as a member of the National Assn. of Letter Carriers and former member of the Moose Lodge in Newburgh. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Hart Kennedy, at home; three sons, James Kennedy and his wife Kathy of Ind., Joseph Kennedy and his wife Roseann of New Windsor and Michael Kennedy and his wife Fran of Hamden; one daughter, Dolores Kennedy of Beacon; nine grandchildren, Deborah DiRubbio, Stacey Okrent, and Christopher Okrent, James, Kevin, Robert, Steven, Sharon, and Sara Kennedy; two great-grandchildren, Michael Okrent and Sadie Jane DiRubbio; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Margaret, and a brothers, Harold and Peter Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Patrick's Soup Kitchen, 55 Grand St., Newburgh. .

EMIL J. JEKER

Kunkletown, Pa. - Emil J. Jeker of Kunkletown, Pa., died Saturday, February 8, 2003 at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, Pa. He was 74. The loving husband of Nicolina (VanLenten) Jeker, they had been married 52 years. Born in Middletown, N.Y. on May 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Emil P. and Mildred (Maskes) Jeker. He was employed at the former Clemson Brothers, Inc. in Middletown as Vice President of Operation for 37 years, retiring in 1982. Emil was a member of the Effort United Methodist Church in Effort, Pa.; the International Association of Machinists; an honorary member of the Orange County New York Fire Police; a member of the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company in Kresgeville, Pa.; a semi-professional baseball player in Unionville, Pa. In addition to his loving wife, Nicolina, he is survived by; one son, John Jeker of Kresgeville, Pa.; one grandson, William Jeker of Sciota, Pa.; one granddaughter, Corrie Jeker of Kresgeville, Pa.; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Jeker of Kresgeville, Pa.; and two cousins. Emil was pre-deceased by a grandson, Thomas Jeker, in 1989. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, February 10 at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert, Pa. Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service, at the funeral home. Internment will be in Gilbert cemetery, Gilbert, Pa. WILLIAM "BUD" EMANUEL

Youngsville, N.Y. - William Joseph Emanuel, a retired craftsman, died on Saturday, February 8, 2003, at Catskill Regional Center, Liberty, N.Y., where he had been a patient since Wednesday. He was born on April 12, 1909, in Hackensack, N.J., he was the only child of Mary (Lauf) Emanuel and Charles Emanuel. Mr. Emanuel attended schools in Hackensack, and was employed as a carpenter for many years. In the 1920's he was hired by P & J Die Company in New York City and worked there as a skilled Steel Rule Die Maker for over 40 years until his retirement in 1974. On May 29, 1944, in Rumford, Maine, he married Dora (desjardins) Emanuel, who survives him. Mr. Emanuel was a Veteran of WW II, who served in the Army Signal Corps in New Guinea, in the Phillipine Islands. On discharge from the service in 1946, he resided first in Brooklyn, N.Y.; and then moved to Teaneck, N.J., where he lived for 28 years. On his retirement in 1974 he moved to Youngsville, and spent several years in Rumford, Maine, and then returned to Youngsville, where his widow resides. For the last three years, he has been a patient at Walnut Mountain Nursing Facility, in Liberty, N.Y. He had been a communicant of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Youngsville. An avid fisherman all his life, Mr. Emanuel was also a talented amateur musician who played the drums in several bands when he was younger and who, until the last few years when he developed Alzheimer's, played his harmonica and sang on senior Citizen trips and outings. In addition to his wife Dora of 58 years, Mr. Emanuel is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Don Kehrley of Youngsville; and three grandchildren, Terri of Troy, Scott of Rock Hill, and Shane of Youngsville. Friends may call Tuesday February 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Funeral services will be on February 12, at St. Francis Church Youngsville at 11 a.m. Officiating clergy is Father Paul Osborne. Burial will be in Greenhill cemetery Youngsville. DORIS "PUDGE" M. CALL

Greenville, N.Y. - Doris M. Call of Greenville, N.Y., a homemaker and lifetime area, entered into rest on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at home. She was 68 years old. The daughter of late Albert Nesbitt and Doris Clune Stone was born on January 30, 1935 in Endicott, N.Y. At the age of 64, Doris went to BOCES and earned her GED, she was also a past member of the Pine Island Volunteer Ambulance Corps with CPR and EMT training. Survivors include, her husband, John M. Call of Greenville, N.Y.; stepfather, Ken Conrad of Vestel, N.Y.; stepmother, Roseann Nesbitt of Hollywood, Florida; one son, Mark Rifenbury of Wayne, N.J.; five daughters, Terry Rifenbury Rudy and husband, John, of Warwick, N.Y., Vicky Rifenbury Standish and her friend, Wayne, Wilson of Otisville, N.Y., Michelle Kless and her husband, Gregory, of Wurtsboro, N.Y., Sherrie Tremblay and her husband, Raymond, of Phillisport, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, Sarah and Krysten Rifenbury, Jacklyn Rudy, Brandy and Mark Kennedy, Brandon and Brittany Kless, Shelby Van Strander, and Sheldon Tremblay; one stepdaughter Dawn Call Duran, her husband, Daniel, and their three children Deanna, Dalton and Daniel Jr. of Georgia. Doris also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A family statement reads, "The family wishes to thank all those who helped care for our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, especially the wonderful staff and doctors at Goshen Medical Associates, the caring staff at St. Anthony Hospital and also Arden Hill Hospital, the wonderful staff and friends at the Department of Health and also Hospice. She will be remembered as a very loving and caring, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend." Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pine Island. The Rev. Elwood Mather will officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday, February 11, afternoon and evening, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 Co. Rt.#1, Pine Island, NY. DANIEL L. ALFONSO

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. - Daniel L. Alfonso, formely of Wappingers Falls and a 48 year resident of Highland, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at the Westchester Medical Center in Vaihaiia. His wife and family were by his side. He was 72. He was born September 26, 1930 in Wappingers Falls, the son of Louis Alfonso, Margaret Alfonso Lamberti, and stepson of James Lamberti. On December 3, 1954 he married Elizabeth Bonin. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his six children, Richard Alfonso, and his wife Carole of Las Vegas, Nev., Michelle Watson of Highland, Daniel Alfonso Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Milton, Amelia Alfonso-Brown and her husband, Robert, of Holly Springs, NC, Gina Hansut and her husband, Paul, of Highland, and Frank Alfonso and his wife, Sharon, of Highland; six grandchildren, Melissa Alfonso, Loren Watson, Daneil Alfonso, Megan Hansut, Paul Hansut, and Frank Alfonso Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Kyla Watson; sister-in-law Martha Nannucci and her husband, Marcello, of Las Vegas, Nev; and three nieces, Shawna, Gianna, and Melja who affectionately called him "Grand-Pa." He is also survived by his brother James Alfonso and his wife, Ann, of Wappingers Falls, brother; Dominick Lamberti of Poughkeepsie; and sister-in-law Joyce Alfonso of Milton, and several nieces, and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Louis Alfonso. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Wappingers Central High School. He worked for Western Publishing Company for 37 years, rising to the rank of production manager until the company closed in 1983. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1953. He served for nine years on the Highland Central School District Board of Education, including one year as president. He served in the Ulster County Legislature for 25 years, and was chairman of the Legislature from 1994-2000. His dedication to volunterrism and fund raising was legendary. He volunteered for, raised money for and served on boards for St. Augustines Parish, Highland Little League, Highland Chamber of Commerce, Town of Lloyd Republican Committee, United Way, Rip Van Winkle Council of Boy Scouts, Lions Club, Town of Lloyd Historical Society and many other community organizations. His passion was being a public servant Memorial donations may be made to St. Augustines Church in Highland, N.Y. Calling hours are today 6 to 9 p.m and Tuesday 4 to 9 p.m at The Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St., Highland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated February 12 at 10 a.m., at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in the Spring at Highland cemetery.

GERTRUDE ABER

Columbia, Md. - Gertrude Aber, of Columbia, Md., originally of Newburgh, died Monday, April 7, 2003. Beloved wife of the late Alexander Aber; loving mother of Shari Aber of New Paltz, N.Y., Joel Aber of Columbia, Md.; loving mother-in-law of Joe Ferri, and Victoria Cofield-Aber; devoted sister of the late Leo Rivkind, and Lillian Roth-Borchardt; adored grandmother of Kendra Aber-Ferri, Olisa Shaina Aber, Dara Aber-Ferri, and Alexandra Aber. Services and internment will be private at the Mt. Ararat cemetery in Farmingdale. In her memory, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Center, 640 Jackson St., St. Paul, MN 55101, to support research for the prevention and cure of Alzheimers Disease. MARSHALL DWIGHT ROE

Boca Raton, Fla. - Marshall Dwight Roe, of Boca Raton, Fla., passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2003 at West Boca Raton Medical Center. He was 82. Mr. Roe attended Courtland High School in New York. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp., the "CCC" in Salmon, Idaho, West Yellowstone Park, Mont., and Williams, Ore. from 1937 to 1939. Mr. Roe was a veteran of the US Army, who served as Chief Warrant Officer with the 77th Infantry Division from 1942 to 1965. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Mr. Roe was preceded in death by his wife, Milicent, in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his two sons, Robert and his wife, Victoria, of Warwick, Mitchell and his wife, Suzanne, of Meadville, Pa.; three grandchildren, Mark-David, Michelle, Miles; and his sister, Chloe. Mr. Roe will be entombed in Las Vegas, Nev. The Babione Funeral Home (East Chapel) in charge of arrangements.

EARL G. BOOTH

Bayonet Point, Fla. - Earl G. Booth, of Bayonet Point, died Friday, April 4, 2003. He was 79. He was born in Grahamsville, N.Y. and has been a resident of Fla. since 1969. He retired from Prudential Insurance Co. after 25 years. He served in the 390th Bomb Group in England during WW II, and was a member of the Elks and Am Vets. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty; three daughters, Cheryl Johnston (John) of Venice, Fla., Laurie Broskey (Ralph) of Sebring, Fla., and Patty Monaghan (Tom) of Englewood, Fla.; one son, Terry Booth (Cathy) of Hoschton, Ga., six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Interment will be at the Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Bayonet Point, Fla. SGT. EUGENE WILLIAMS

Highland, N.Y. - Sgt. Eugene Williams, a 9-year resident of Highland and active member of the US Army, died as a combat casualty on Saturday, March 29, 2003 in Iraq. He was 24. The son of Ulyses Williams and Betty Williams, he was born on April 30, 1978 in Poughkeepsie. He was a graduate of Highland High School. Eugene was active and interested in music, football, basketball, track and field events, and baseball. Survivors include his wife, Brandy Williams, of Hawaii; his daughter, Mya Janicee Williams; his unborn child; his father, Ulyses Williams of Highland; his mother, Betty Williams, of Highland; his two brothers, Gerry Williams of Orlando, Fla., Eric Williams who is currently in active service; his sister, Lori-Ann Ackert of Kingston; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; his maternal grandmother, Betty Ackert of Highland; his paternal grandmother, Emma Williams of Florida. He was predeceased by his uncle, Sammy Browner. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Highland High School, Pancake Hollow Road in Highland. Katherine TURCHEN

Largo, Fla. - Katherine Turchen, of Largo, Florida (formerly of Florida, N.Y.), died on Monday, March 31, 2003 after a long illness. She was a retired office manager with HomeGas Corporation, Middletown, N.Y. Mrs. Turchen was born on April 4, 1911, in Florida, N.Y., the daughter of Augustus and Mary Dimke. She was the organist of St. Edward's R.C. Church, Florida, N.Y. for many years, and a former parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Florida, N.Y. Mrs. Turchen was a member of the Florida Sewing Circle and a member of the Turchen's Timbers Bowling Team. She was the chairwoman of the local Selective Service Board in Goshen, N.Y, during the WW II. Her husband, Edward Turchen, former mayor of Florida, N.Y.; her brother, Herman Dimke; and her sister, Marie Barry, pre-deceased Mrs. Turchen. Survivors include several nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Joseph Tokarczyk on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's cemetery, Florida, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 600 Florida, N.Y. Funeral arrangements were made by the TS Purta Funeral Home, Florida, N.Y.

CARMEN IDAHLIA GONZALEZ STOKAS

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. - Born on April 4, 1946 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Carmen Idahlia Gonzalez Stokas grew up in the South Bronx, the daughter of Fermin Olmo and Casilda Gonzalez who survive her in the Bronx. On April 7, 2003 she passed away peacefully at home with her family. She is survived by her husband, Alexander J. Stokas whom she married on August 17, 1969 at her alma mater, Mercy College; her son and daughter-in-law, Alexander and Mary Stokas of Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Ariana C. Stokas of Red Hook; a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Carmen Olmo of Tampa, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased in 1980 by her brother, Fermin Olmo. Calling hours are 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8 at St. Gregory's Orthodox Church, 1500 Rt. 376, Wappingers Falls. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8 at the church. The burial rite will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9 at the church, and continue at Bard College cemetery. GERTRUDE M. GREEN

Montgomery, N.Y. - Gertrude M. Green, of Montgomery, a homemaker and a 3-year resident of the area, died Monday, April 7, 2003 at home. She was 96. The daughter of Eliol and Anna Andrews Coates, she was born February 14, 1907 in Newfoundland, Canada. She attended Leptondale Bible Church. Gertrude was the widow of the late Edgar Green. Survivors include one daughter, Carol Samson of Spring Valley, N.Y.; two daughters-in-law, Bea Green of Montgomery and Grace Green of Santa Ana, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Sharon Stevens, Jeanette Charini, Karrin Weeden, Mark Green, Kristan Burlingame, Linda Whilen, Stephanie Mills, Floyd Green, Kenneth Greg Samson, Brooke Samson and Scott Samson; and several great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two sons, Floyd Green and Edgar C. Green. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 10 from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pinelawn cemetery, , Pinelawn, L.I., N.Y. JEAN E. FORD

Westtown, N.Y. - Jean E. Ford, the owner/operator of Chris Originals Silk Screenings in Westtown, and lifelong resident of the area, entered into rest on Sunday, April 6, 2003 at home. She was 71. The daughter of John and Gretchen Christle Jados, she was born on January 3, 1932 in the Town of Wallkill. Survivors include her two sons, Richard Ford and his wife, Paula, of Port Jervis, John Ford and his wife, Diane, of Westtown; four foster children, Greg Autolitano and his wife, Linda, Steven Autolitano and his wife, Lisa, Tony Pisanelli, Sandy Monnin and her husband, Butch; several grandchildren; three brothers, Jack, Richard, Robert, and Edward Jados; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Margie Edwards and Agnes Otszel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9 at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 Country Rt. #1, Pine Island from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 9 at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home, Pastor Elwood Mather officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 10 in Ridgebury cemetery, Ridgebury. LILLIAN BROPHY

Deerfield, N.Y. - Lillian Brophy, of Deerfield, previously of New Windsor, entered into rest on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at home. She was 86. Daughter of the late Samuel and Fanny Hezelwood Child, she was born on November 11, 1916 in Cornwall. She was married to the late Daniel C. Brophy, who predeceased her in 1975. Lillian was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of New Windsor (Quassaick) Fire Department, and a member of the North Utica Senior Citizen Center. Survivors include two sons, William and Timothy Brophy, both of Newburgh; two daughters, Kathy Konkol and her husband, Doug, of Utica, Susan Pacione and her fiance, Thomas Sayles, of New Windsor; one sister, Dorothy Simpson of New Windsor; four grandchildren, Peter Pacione and his wife, Joni, Paul Pacione and his wife, Gioconda, Daniele Pacione and Vincent Konkol; and two great grandchildren, Paul and Maddison Pacione. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8 at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9 at the funeral home, Father Bill Scafidi officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn cemetery in New Windsor. MARIE E. KILPATRICK

Newburgh, N.Y. - Marie E. Kilpatrick of Newburgh, entered into rest on Sunday, April 6, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was 87. The daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Russo Aurelio, Marie was born on March 6, 1916 in Philadelphia, Pa. She was wed to Everett "Red" Kilpatrick, who passed away on September 25, 2000. A family statement reads, "How blessed we've been to have you, our matriarch. As you join your beloved husband in heaven, may God watch over you both.You will be sadly missed by all who loved you dearly." Survivors include two sons, Paul Kilpatrick of Colorado Springs, Co., Don Kilpatrick of Plantation, Fla.; one daughter, Joanie Kilpatrick and her companion, Ben Levine, of Salisbury Mills; her goddaughter, Carol Sambataro of Davies, Fla.; one sister, Florence Purifico of Blackwood, N.J.; five grandchildren, Jenn Brooks Knapp and Trevor Hebrank of Newburgh, Brian Kilpatrick of Colorado Springs, Co., Danielle and Lauren Kilpatrick of Las Vegas, Nev.; two great grandchildren, Alyssa and Lindsey Knapp of Newburgh; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband, Marie was predeceased by her great grandson, Shane Everett Knapp; and her three brothers, Albert, Harry, and Salvatore. Family will receive their friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11 at the funeral home, with Father Bill Scafidi officiating. Burial will follow at the V.A. cemetery in Goshen. .

MURRAY GERSHON

Woodbourne, N.Y. - Murray Gershon, of Woodbourne, a retired correctional officer from Eastern Correctional Facility and a long time resident of the area, died Suddenly Sunday, April 6, 2003 in Del Ray Beach, Florida. He was 70. The son of Joel and Alice Gershon, he was born January 3, 1933 in the Bronx. Murray was a veteran of the United States Air Force, he was active in the Boy Scouts, Little League, and a member of the Woodbourne First Aid Squad and Woodbourne Fire Dept. Murray's loving family and numerous friends were devastated by his sudden death. He was an extra-ordinary individual. His kindness and consideration were well known and his humor brought joy and laughter into the lives of everyone who knew him. The most important thing to Murray was his family. His love for them was matched only by his joy of being a grandfather and great-grandfather. Murray is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Martha; his mother, Alice; two daughters, Donna and her husband, Steven, Jamie and one son, Steven and his significant other Cecil; five grandchildren, Julie, Joel, Jillian, Jason and Keith; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Ethan and a large extended family. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main Street, Woodbourne, with Rabbi Moish Frank officiating. Interment will be in Congregation B'nai Israel cemetery, Glen Wild, N.Y. At the family's request, donations can be made to The American Heart Association or the Congregation B'nai Israel of Woodbourne, N.Y. Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, Woodbourne.

JON GEORG WEGNER HANSSEN

New Paltz, N.Y. - Jon Georg Wegner Hanssen, a retired Island Dock Manager who worked at Forrest Landing in Easton, Md., and and 4-year resident of the area, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at home, surrounded by family. He was 83. The son of the late Jon and Georgine Svendsen Hanssen, he was born on January 18, 1920 in Hildra, Norway. He became a very proud citizen of the United States of America on August 13, 1943. He actively served in the United States Army, the United States Navy, the United States Coast Guard, and the United States Merchant Marines. He was a 45-year member of The American Legion Post #70, and an active member of the Sons of Norway. He was employed at Hercules (Dyno), Feeney's Boat Works of Kingston, Island Dock Manager for many years at Forrest Landing in Easton, Md., and he was also a private yacht captain of various vessels. He is survived by his wife, Etta Soper Hanssen of New Paltz; his four daughters, Mrs. William (Gina) Callahan of Easton, Md., Sonja G. Carter of New Paltz, Mrs. John (Kristina) Klassen of Hayden, Idaho, Mrs. Gerald (Beverly) Burr of New Paltz; his brother, Severre Eide of Telemark, Norway; his sisters, Torbjorg Fredheim of Staten Island, Gerd Rasnussen of Flekkefjord, Norway; his loving nephews, Harold Fredheim of Staten Island, Arthur Fredheim of Boston, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Anne Marie (Hans) Domnaes of Oslo, Norway. Visitation will be held at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 So. Putt Crs. Rd., New Paltz on Thursday, April 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lloyd cemetery. Arrangements by Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., New Paltz.
