ANA MARIA GARCIA

Middletown, N.Y. - Ana Maria Garcia of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at the Orange Regional Medical Center at Horton in Middletown. She was 56. The daughter of Nestor Matias and the late Patricia Matias, she was born on June 2, 1948 in Aguada, Puerto Rico. A family statement read: "She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. Ana will always be remembered for her love and dedication to her family, her fun-loving wit and sense of humor. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family and friends and making them laugh." She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Pedro Garcia; her children, Lucy Cordero and her husband, Dante of Yonkers, Nancy Curasi and her husband, Lawrence of Montgomery, Yolanda Morales and her husband, Jose of Cidra, Puerto Rico, Mary Ann Figueroa and her husband, David, of Middletown, and Pedro Garcia Jr. of Middletown; and her stepdaughter, Madeline Garcia of Albany. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Arielle Curasi, Dante Cordero Jr., Jose Morales Jr., Marc Cordero, Celiann Figueroa, Christopher Morales and Matthew Figueroa; her sister, Dolores Maldonado of Milwaukee, Wis.; her father, Nestor Matias of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2004 at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc., 72 West Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at the Spanish Pentecostal Church, 275 North St., Middletown. MR. JOSEPH E. "JOE HOG" VANDERMARK JR.

Port Jervis, N.Y. - Mr. Joseph E. "Joe Hog" Vandermark Jr., of Port Jervis, retired from the Orange County and lifetime resident of Port Jervis, died Wednesday, June 16 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 63. He was born December 17, 1940 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Joseph E. and the late Shirley Price Vandermark, Sr. A founding member, Joe started the 1st Chapter of the Orange County Harley Owners Group and was active with the Zephyr Club, which is an antique car club. He was also a life member of the Port Jervis Fire Dept. and member of the Delaware Engine Co. No. 2 and former member of the CSEA. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Nora James Vandermark at home; son, Joseph Vandermark III and his fiancee, Alice Dunning of Port Jervis, NY; daughter, Penny McGaw and her husband, Walter of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Cindy McGaw and her husband Eddie of Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren: Walter Jr., Brittany and Randy McGaw, Allyson and Heather Vandermark; step-granddaughter, Carrie Dunning, as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis on Friday, June 18th from 1 to 2 p.m. Memorial services will be held at Friday, June 18th at 2 p.m. from Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, with Rev. LENA PASTORELLO

Bloomingburg, N.Y. - Lena Pastorello, a longtime resident of Bloomingburg and formerly of Queens, NY, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at the Horton Hospital in Middletown. She was 96. The daughter of the late Lawrence and Rose Merletto Ricotta, she was born September 23, 1907 in Pittston, PA. Lena was the widow of Salvatore Pastorello, who predeceased her on January 10, 1971. She is survived by her son, Boris Pastorello; her daughters: Rose Dilorio and Teresa Matrochano, all of Bloomingburg; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Lena was predeceased by her daughter Milli and her granddaughter Denise Matrochano. A family statement read: "She was a woman that loved life and family. She had a way of making flowers come to life when everyone else either gave up or simply just couldn't get them to flourish. Grandma took small pieces of a plant and made them full plants, trees or bushes. She had the same way about her with family. Her and her husband came here from Italy together with no friends and family. They made great friends, started a wonderful family and made the love grow through their entire family. She was blessed with a full life and lots of love." Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 20 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home of Wurtsboro, 111 Sullivan St. Her funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Bloomingburg. The Rev. Raymond Bagdonis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bloomingburg Rural cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home of Wurtsboro.

RALPH P. SANTILLO JR.

Newburgh, N.Y. - Ralph P. Santillo Jr., a lifelong resident of Newburgh, entered into rest Monday, June 14, 2004 in St. Luke's Hospital, Newburgh. He was 70. Son of the late Ralph and Veronica Danko Santillo, he was born February 24, 1934 in Newburgh. He was married to the late Lois VanVlack Santillo, who predeceased him in 1990. Ralph proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a devoted former member of Our Lady of Hope and a recent parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Newburgh. His many contributions and dedication to his community and to his family will be remembered by all who knew him. He was an honorable individual whose love and devotion will never be forgotten. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include his children, Ralph P. Santillo III and his wife Angela of Cairo; Darlene Santillo of Deltona, FL, Michael Sweeney of Kingston, Kevin Thomas and his wife Jill of Montgomery, Thomas P. Santillo and his fiancée Pamela Stafford of Newburgh, Anne Carmichael and her husband Gordon of Coxsackie, James C. Henry and Lawrence C. Henry and his wife Patty, all of New Windsor, and Lori Henry of Port Jervis; his brother, John Santillo and his wife Valerie of Chatham; his sister, Veronica Cottle of Jennings, FL; grandchildren, Veronica, Miranda, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Shannon, Skyler, Abigail, Michelle, Thomas, Emily, Ethan, Emily, Kyle, Kevin, April, Lisa, James, Jamie, Cassidy, Christopher, Angela, Kathy, Lois, Jason, Desire, Tiffany, Raymond and Jimmy; great grandchildren, Desire, Kayla and Brook; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and an abundance of loving friends. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Carmen and Joseph Santillo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 19 in St. Mary's Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary cemetery, New Windsor.

DONALD LYNN MARSH

Grahamsville, N.Y. - Donald Lynn Marsh, a lifetime Sullivan County resident, passed away in Dallas, TX on January 2, 2004. He was 51. The son of the late Eldred and Mary Rankins Marsh, he was born on August 2, 1952 in Monticello, NY. Survivors include a brother, Clinton Marsh of Liberty; nieces: Danielle Hajek of Grahamsville, Rachel Jarvis of Accord and Megan Marsh of South Fallsburg; a nephew, Joseph Walker of Steam Boat Springs, CO and several great-nieces and great- nephews. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Sullivan County Veteran's cemetery, Sunset Lake Rd., Liberty. Burial will be with full military honors. DOREEN McADOO

Monticello, N.Y. - Doreen McAdoo of Monticello passed away on Friday June 18, 2004 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 23. The daughter of Evelyn McAdoo and Bobby Misner, she was born on Nov. 28, 1980 in Newburgh, NY. Doreen moved to Sullivan County in July 1999 where she was a participant at Sullivan ARC. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn McAdoo of Narrowsburg; her father, Bobby Misner; maternal grandmother Katherin Earl of Cahalan FL; a brother Jason McAdoo of Utica; an aunt Renee Johnson of Brooklyn; an uncle Vincent Everett of Jacksonville FL; 3 cousins, Brock, Sirros and Austin Johnson of Jacksonville FL and her extended family at Sullivan ARC. Plattekill, N.Y. - Elston N. Quiles Sr., longtime Ulster County resident died Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Vassar Hospital. He was 45. The son of Adam Quiles and Anna Martines Carrero, he was born November 18, 1958 in Elmhurst, Queens, NY. He is the husband of Josephine Munoz Quiles. JOHN J. LAVELLE

Chester, N.Y. - John J. "Barney" Lavelle of Chester, a retired painter, died June 19, 2004 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Goshen. He was 68 years old. He was born on September 30, 1935 in Bronx, NY, the son of John Lavelle and Rosemary Cunningham. He is survived by his four sons: Steven Lavelle of Shertz, TX, John J. Lavelle Jr. and his wife Susan of Wurtsboro, NY, Scott Lavelle and his wife Diane of Boonton, NJ, Edward Lavelle of Bend, OR; and three grandchildren. He also leaves behind his good friend, Art Paras. A United States Army Veteran, John was an Airborne Paratrooper in the 101st, a Screaming Eagle and a Rakkasan. He was also a pioneer in early sport jumping with the Hudson Valley Skydivers. He was a voracious reader, an outdoorsman who loved camping and fishing, and was an active member of the American Legion. Burial of ashes will be 2 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2004 at the Orange County Veteran cemetery in Goshen, NY. EDMUND W. BAXTER

Marlboro, N.Y. - Edmund W. Baxter of Marlboro, NY passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2004. The husband of Willia (nee Wood), he was born and raised in the Hudson Valley town of Marlboro, NY. Mr. Baxter was an Apple grower for more than 50 years. After a short stay in Forest Hills, NY and working as an undertaker for his brother Samuel Q., Ed returned to his home in Marlboro, NY at the age of 20. He then married Frances Devlin and raised three daughters: Lorraine (Lori) Lacy, Ruth Baxter-Aiello and Mary Frances Ostrander. Grandfather of Chris Lacy and Marie Ostrander. Dear brother of Cornelia Winkle of Marlboro, Ruth Smith, formerly of Glen Cove, NY and the late Samuel Q. Baxter Jr. He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces. Reposing at DiDonato Funeral Home in Marlboro, NY on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be in the Milton-Marlboro Methodist Church on Thursday, June 24 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill cemetery, Middle Hope, NY. FRANCES BENVENUTA

San Antonio, TX - Formerly of Pine Bush, N.Y. Frances Benvenuta of San Antonio, TX, formerly of Pine Bush, NY, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at home in Moore, OK at the age of 69. The daughter of James and Agnes Hogan, she was born in Bronx, NY on February 21, 1935. Fran was an extraordinary loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived survived by her six children: John Smith of Kerhonkson, NY, Frank Smith of Rohnert Park, CA, Mark Smith of San Rafael, CA, Deborah Poye of Walden, NY, Janice Owens of Moore, OK and Karen Cavaness and her husband Rick of San Antonio, TX; 14 grandchildren: Amanda, Michael, Katelyn, Laureen, Billy and Jeffery Smith, Christine and Michelle Poye, Danielle and Kristi Cox, Crystal, Priscilla, Lawrence and Christian Cavaness. She was preceded in death by her grandson, John Douglas Smith. A Memorial service will be held in her honor at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2004 at Westover Hills Assembly of God, San Antonio, TX. ROGER G. DAVEY

Chester, N.Y. - Roger G. Davey of Chester, a retired Research Scientist for International Paper and long time resident of the area, died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at Orange Regional Medical Center at Arden Hill in Goshen. He was 67. The son of Edward and Lillian Lowe Davey, he was born on May 10, 1937 in the county of Sale, England. He was a member of the Hudson Valley Bridge Club. Survivors include his wife, Helen Davey at home and his daughters: Lisa Dalling of Ottawa, Canada and Julie Bain of Montreal, Canada. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Evan Dalling, Drew Bain and Emma Bain, as well as his brother, Keith Davey of England and several nieces and nephews. Visitation hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at the Lippincott Funeral Home, Inc. 92 Main St. in Chester, NY. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. BLANCHE GELINSON

Pearl River, N.Y. - Blanche Gelinson, the retired owner of the Pearl Shoppe, Pearl River, N.Y. for 25 years and longtime area resident, formerly of Rockland County, N.Y. and Whiting, N.J., died on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at home in Ferndale. She was 88. Blanche was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on May 24, 1910, the daughter of Max and Katie Gerber Waldman. She was the widow of Harry Gelinson, who died on June 19, 2003. She is survived by her sons, Ira Gelinson and his wife Harriet of Ferndale and Howard (Butch) Gelinson of New City, N.Y.; her granddaughters, Robin Zalben of Jerusalem, Israel and Marcy Sorbello of Cazenovia, N.Y.; her great-granddaughters, Hadassn, Lilly and Ariella and her brother, Donald Waldman of Delray Beach, Fla. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 21 at 1 p.m. at Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 188 Broadway, Monticello. Rabbi Irwin Tanenbaum will officiate. JAMES LEE MAXWELL JR. "DADDY MAC"

Ellenville, N.Y. - James Lee Maxwell Jr. "Daddy Mac" died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at Sullivan County Adult Care Center, Liberty, NY. He was 82. The son of the late James Lee Maxwell Sr. and Gladys Boone Maxwell, he was born April 22, 1922 in Savannah, GA. Mr. Maxwell was a retired Brick Mason for Local # 1, Rego Park, NY with over fifty years of service; a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Bronx, NY; World War II Army Veteran and former member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Savannah, GA. He is survived by his two sons: Michael Pierce Maxwell and wife Sarah of Poughkeepsie, NY, Ashley Welch, Alexander Maxwell and wife Adriene of Bronx, NY; two daughters; Omega Evon Henry and husband Frederick and Addlene Gladys Rhodes and husband David, all of Ellenville; two brothers: Edgar Maxwell and wife Katherine and Alvin Maxwell all of Bronx, NY; Ten grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; three loving sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends. DELLA E. GARZIONE

Oxford, N.Y. - Formerly of Newburgh, N.Y. Della E. Garzione, formerly of Newburgh, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the N.Y. State Veteran's Home in Oxford, NY, where she had been a resident for one month. She was 92. She was born in Middletown, NY on January 20, 1912 to Samuel and Rose Bloise Gentila. She was a graduate of Syracuse University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Sorority. She did her graduate work at Columbia University and taught elementary school in the Newburgh City School District for 30 years. On July 11, 1942, she married John E. Garzione who predeceased her on April 2, 1985. In 1986 she moved to Wellsville, where she was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Monday Club, Jones Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Evergreen Twig, AAUW and various bridge clubs. She is survived by a son, John (Anita) Garzione of Norwich, NY; daughter, Veronica (Daniel) Platania of Wellsville, NY; grandchildren: Katrina Garzione of Providence, RI, Adriana Garzione of Norwich, Jennifer Platania of Burlington, NC and Christopher Platania of Towson, MD. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Coloni Funeral Home, 3001 Rt. 9W, New Windsor, NY. JEANNE H. TRINKNER

Monroe, N.Y. - Jeanne H. Trinkner, of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2004 with the comfort of her family at her side at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern. The daughter of the late Charles Breest and Sophie Rubis Breest, she was born May 12, 1924 in the Bronx. She was 80. Jeanne was a resident of Monroe for 15 years after leaving her beautiful beach home in Seabrook, N.H. to be closer to her family and was a retired administrative assistant at the New Hampshire Extension Services. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Monroe. Survivors include her daughters, Lori Feo of Greenwood Lake and Linda Trinkner of Pearl River; six grandchildren, Michael Feo, Aaron Feo and Ashley Feo, Justin Harkins, Merriah Harkins and Ryan Trinkner; and several nieces and nephews. A family statement reads, "Mum, Mumbie, was the most loving mother and grandmother a family could ever be blessed with. She was a very beautiful and magnificent person; full of life and unmatched humor. Her generosity and love fueled the life of so many. She will be in our hearts forever." Friends may call on Wednesday, June 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, June 24 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe. JOHN (JACK) WILLIS

Monticello, N.Y. - Jack Willis, a retired Executive Vice President for Key Bank in Monticello, former Bank officer for the National Union Bank, and 60 year Monticello resident, died on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at home with his family by his side. He was 81. He was born December 31, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Froman and Martha Cochran Willis. Jack was a World War II Army Veteran serving with the 69th Infantry Recon division, and a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Monticello. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Patricia (Pat) at home in Monticello; his one daughter, Patricia (Pat) Willis of Burlington, VT; and his three nephews: William, Scott and Matthew Miller; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Angela Miller of Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 10 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, 15 St. John St., Monticello. Rev. Ninon Hutchinson will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, St. John St., Monticello. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations in memory of Jack be made to Hospice of Sullivan and Orange County, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550 or St. John's Church, 15 St. John St., Monticello, NY 12701. FRANCIS "FRANK" E. SMITH

Port St. Lucie, FL - Formerly of Middletown, N.Y. Francis "Frank" E. Smith a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL and longtime Middletown area resident, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 18, 2004 in Middletown. He was 76 years old. The son of the late Ernest and Mary Leonard Smith, he was born on August 13, 1927 in New York City. Frank retired from Orange County Trust Company as Vice President and Senior Trust Officer. He was a member of The Disabled American Veterans, The American Legion Post #151, and The McQuoids Engine and Ladder Company No. 3, all of Middletown A veteran of World War II, Frank proudly served his country in The United States Navy aboard the USS Juneau. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Barczak and her husband, Patrick of Newtown, CT; two grandsons: Jeffrey and Jeremy former wife, Patricia Fox of Vero Beach, FL.; sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Edward Klussman of Westbrookville; one brother, Charles Smith of Corona, California; Sister-in-law Dorothy Smith of Boca Raton, FL; two grandchildren; two nephews, Dr. John Smith and Bryan Smith; and one niece, Brenda Seigrist of Marina Del Rey, CA. He was predeceased by his brother, John Smith. Family and friends may call Tuesday, June 22, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A funeral sevice of remembrance will be celebrated at 8 pm At the funeral home. Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements under the direction of Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
