IRWIN WINDT

Liberty, N.Y. - Irwin Windt, a retired teacher at Sullivan County BOCES in Liberty, NY, and former co-owner and operator of Pollack's Hotel in Ferndale and longtime Liberty resident, died on Monday, June 28, 2004 at Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, NJ. He was 84. Irwin was born in Bronx, NY on March 11, 1920, the son of Harry and Beatrice Neckemias Windt. He was a World War II Army Veteran, and was a member of Ahavath Israel Synagogue in Liberty, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Jewish War Veterans and the American Legion, and was a former Boy Scout Troop Leader. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Marion Pollack Windt at home in Liberty; his daughter, Barbara Limpitlaw and her husband Bruce of East Meadow, NY; his sons, Allan David Windt and his wife Robin of PA; his brother, Dr. Arnold Windt of CA; his sister Diane Brazer of FL and his four grandchildren: Breana, Erik, Heather and Paige, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Morton. Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 1 p.m. in Ahavath Israel Synagogue, Chestnut St., Liberty. Rabbi Marvin Goldman will officiate. Burial will be in Ahavath Israel cemetery, Hy-San-Na Rd., Liberty, NY. Funeral arrangements by Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, Inc. Monticello.

KENNETH E. DECKER

Mill Rift, Pa. - Kenneth E. Decker, a retired barber, Matamoras, and Milford, Pa., and lifelong area resident, died Monday June 28, 2004 at his home. He was 76. The son of the late Donald and Viola Norton Decker, he was born January 29, 1928 in Matamoras, Pa. He was the widow of Georgianna Carlock Decker. He was a member of the Matamoras United Methodist Church; a veteran of the Korean Conflict, US Army; member of Country Cruisers, Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; former member of the Catskill Cruisers Car Club, Monticello; and member of the Matamoras Fire Dept. Survivors include one son, Gary Decker of Shohola, Pa.; one grandson, Matt Decker; two sisters, Carol Pinckney and her husband Ross of Belleview, Fla., Arlene Wagner and her husband Jack of Barryville; three nieces Susan Hill, Jacqueline Baumgardner and Gretchen Stephens. Friends may call Wednesday, June 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. The Matamoras Fire Dept. will conduct services Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 1 at the funeral home with Theresa Latini officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Matamoras, Pa. OLIVER "OLLIE" J. WINSTANLEY JR.

Newburgh, N.Y. - "All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last." Oliver "Ollie" J. Winstanley Jr., of Newburgh, a lifetime area resident, entered into rest Monday, June 28, 2004 in Wingate at Ulster, Highland. He was 85. The son of Oliver J. Winstanley and Grace Hawkins Tierney, he was born November 27, 1918 in Newburgh. Ollie attended Newburgh schools and proudly served his country in the US Navy, where he spent 14 months in the Navy Hospital. He served for the City of Newburgh Fire Department for 37 years, retiring as Deputy Chief; was a member of Local 589 Benevolent Assn., RPEA, and American Legion of Newburgh. Ollie was a very special man and truly one of a kind. He is survived by his best friend, loving and devoted wife, Florence Ward Winstanley, whom he married on October 28, 1966 in Newburgh, at home; two stepsons, David McDermott and his wife Sue of Montgomery and John McDermott of Newburgh; eight grandchildren, Ronnie, Jackie, Rachel, Cathy, Bonnie, Sudeen, Mary and Frank; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Tierney, and a sister, Mary Stant. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 pm on Wednesday June 30 at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. Entombment will be private in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh. .

ANNA SANTINELLO

Middletown, N.Y. - Anna Santinello of Middletown, NY passed away at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grand-children at her side on Sunday June 27th. She was 93 years old. The daughter of Frank and Anna Giacco DeSimone she was born in Afragola, Napoleon, Italy on June 28, 1910. In 1912 she came to Brooklyn, NY and moved to Middletown in 1982 where she resided with her husband for the past 22 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years Albert; beloved children Ralph of Palm Harbor, FL, Frank of Staten Island, NY, Ernest of Middletown, NY, Pasquale of Del Ray Beach, FL, and Concetta Scott of Bloomingburg, NY. Loved grandchildren Ralph Satinello of Staten Island, NY, Robert Santinello of Palm Harbor, FL Cynthia Evers of Parrish, FL, Valerie Santinello of Staten Island, NY, Richard Santinello of Pine Bush, NY, Lisa Short of Pine Bush, NY, Sean Scott and Albert Scott of Bloomingburg, NY Lauraleigh Gould and Joseph Santinello of Boca Raton, FL, Elizabeth, Frank Jr. and John Santinello of Staten Island, NY; and 15 great-grand children. She was predeceased by her brothers: Joseph, Ralph and Blaise DeSimone and sister, Susan Miller. Visitation will be Tuesday June29th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Morse Funeral Home Inc. A Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated Wednesday 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church Middletown, NY. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery. MATTHEW T. WILLIAMS-JONES

Wappingers Falls, N.Y. - Matthew T. Williams-Jones, 18, a resident of Wappingers Falls, NY died on June 25, 2004, at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY, after a car accident. He was raised in Kingston NY and Liberty, NY. He was currently employed by Sears and American Eagle, in the Poughkeepsie Galleria. Matthew was a graduate of the class of 2003 from Kingston High School. Born in Harris, NY, on September 8, 1985, he was the son of Terrance Jones and Tammy J. Williams. A family statement reads “Matthew was a sweet and loving child who into a matured, responsible young man. He will be missed by all who ever had the pleasure of meeting him and seeing that radiant smile he wore like a badge of honor." He will be remembered his sense of humor and love for jokes. He is survived by his father of Queens, NY and has three children at in his second marriage. Matthew's mother resides in Highland, NY. His maternal great-grandmother, Lucretia Williams, grandmother Karolyn Wilson, aunt Allison Smith and cousin Alexander Smith, all of Monticello, NY. His paternal grandparents Everett and Estelle Jones of Hempstead, NY, uncles, Gerald Jones of Ohio, Pierce and Patricia Jones of Middle Island, NY, aunts Diane Jones of Hempstead, NY and Renee and Howard Forrester, of New York City. He had 12 cousins by father. He was predeceased by his maternal great-grandfather, Fred Williams, and his cousin, Brian Jones. A memorial services will be held at Living Word Chapel, 1555 Rte. 28A, West Hurley, NY, on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Don Moore will preside. A private burial of his ashes will be held in Monticello, NY some time after.

Wallkill, N.Y. - Ryan T. George of Wallkill, a student at Wallkill High School and a lifetime resident of the area died Friday, June 25, 2004, at home. He was 16. The son of Timothy L. George and Denise C. Huber George, he was born February 21, 1988 in Middletown. He was a member of Wallkill Reformed Church Boyscout Troop 76; Wallkill Little League; Wallkill Soccer; and Wallkill Basketball. A family statement reads "Ryan loved animals, cars, sports and video games. He was deeply loved by his family & friends and will be sadly missed." Survivors include his mother Denise C. George at home; father Timothy L. George of Apollo, PA, formerly of Wallkill; sister Megan N. of Wallkill; niece Nicholette Ann of Wallkill; two faithful k-9 companions Ranger and Tiger; maternal grandmother Mary L. Huber of Walden; paternal grandfather Roger L. George, Sr. of Vandergrift, PA; godparents: Mike Hernandez of Middletown and Gina Van Voorhis of Pine Bush; many cousins and other family members. He was predeceased by paternal grandmother Ann L. George; maternal grandfather Charles H. Huber. ISABELLA SOLOW GOLDSTEIN

Middletown, N.Y. - West Palm Beach, FL Isabella Solow Goldstein, former secretary for the N.Y. City Board of Education, Middletown Board of Education, Middletown Psychiatric Center, Otisville Correctional Facility, and law firms of Judge Jacob Alan Ball, Martin Taub, Joseph C. Spano and Warren Kelly, died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at Hospice by the Sea, West Palm Beach, FL. She was 86. Daughter of Nathan Solow and Lizzie Personick Solow, she was born September 3, 1917 in Bronx, NY. She lived in Middletown since 1958 and in West Palm Beach for the last seven years. Mrs. Goldstein was a member of Temple Sinai, Middletown, NY. She served twice as Chairperson for the City American Cancer Society Fund Raising Campaign, former secretary for the Sisterhood of Temple Sinai, member of Hadassah and member of the League of Women Voters. Survivors include her husband, Nathan Goldstein, former owner of Middletown Window Cleaning Co.; two sons: Jerold Goldstein and his wife Diane of Scotch Plains, NJ, Kenneth B. Goldstein of Manhattan and Middletown, NY; two granddaughters: Lindsey Sheridan Goldstein and Raegan Courtney Goldstein; two sisters: Florence Goldman and her husband Meyer of Jerusalem, Israel and Sadie Shebovsky of Delray, FL; also several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. BERNICE ALEXANDER

Constantia, N.Y. - Bernice Alexander, 73, of Constantia, died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. Born in Newburgh, she had lived in California before moving to Constantia in 1984. She was a member of the Cleveland Senior Citizens and the Central Square M.I.A. Senior Citizens. Surviving are her companion, Milton Trach; a son, Keith Alexander; a sister, Elizabeth Prizant of Florida; two brothers, Raphael Van Voorhis of New Windsor, and John Van Voorhis of Pine Bush. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2 at the Watson Funeral Home, Inc., 631 So. Main St., Central Square, with burial in Constantia Rural cemetery. MURRAY EDINGER

Rockland County, N.Y. - Murray Edinger passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 after a short illness. Mr. Edinger was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1914. He is survived by his wife Bess; son Stanley and his wife Vivian Edinger; daughter, Sheila Gross; grandchildren: Cheryl Dancy, Drew Edinger and his wife Michele, Steven Gross and his wife Valerie, Matthew Gross, great grandchildren: Josef, Jacqueline, Jessica, Brittany and Jeremy. Murray was a Veteran serving in the United States Marine Corp from 1942-1944. He is a member of the Suffern Hose and Ladder Company. He loved to help his neighbors in need by volunteering countless hours for the Rockland County Meals on Wheels Program. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 12 noon at the Hellman's Funeral Home, 15 State Street in Spring Valley, N.Y. All donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

NANCY J. LEEPER

Middletown, N.Y. - Nancy J. Leeper, longtime resident of Middletown and a secretary for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Middletown, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Wingate at St. Francis in Beacon. She was 62. The daughter of the late Harry and Olga Garthausen Dailey, she was born November 11, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY. A family statement read: "Nancy was America's mom; a great mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Survivors include her husband Fred Munger of New Windsor; sons: Jeffrey Munger of Middletown and Joseph Gonzalez of Middletown; step-sons: Fred Munger of Matamoras, PA and Christopher Munger of Newburgh; daughter, Jodi Didio and her husband John of Newburgh; step-daughter, Joanmarie Petty of Newburgh; also two step-granddaughters: Brittany Munger and Tiffany Munger. DeBary, FL - Formerly of Chester, N.Y. Digna E. “Didi” Diaz-Doran, 48, formerly of Chester, NY, died June 28, 2004 at her home in DeBary, FL. Didi, a psychiatric nurse for Seminole County Mental Health, was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and moved to DeBary in 1991 from San Francisco, CA. She was a graduate of John S. Burke Catholic High School in Goshen, NY. Didi was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Altamonte Springs where she was a member of the choir. Didi volunteered for Sanford Mission Outreach along with being a nurse for AIDS Hospice in San Francisco. She collected ladies decorative fans, pigs, eggs and loved jewelry and traveling. Survivors include her loving parents, Frank and Mary Diaz; sister, Diane Chinelli; brother, Dennis Diaz; nieces, Rebecca Formoso, Amanda Osborne and Katrina Diaz; great niece, Aviana Rose Formoso and nephews: Jason, Matthew and Joshua Osborne, and Christopher Diaz. Accord, N.Y. - Patricia Roebuck, 65, of Upper Whitfield Rd., died June 28, 2004 at Northeast Care Center in Lake Katrine. She was born August 26, 1938 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Harry Schwartz and Pearl Fuchs. She had been employed at Nest Fresh Farms as a clerical worker and at Accord Speedway. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Alligerville Fire Co. and a former member of Kerhonkson Accord First Aid Squad. Surviving are a son, Lyle Roebuck and his wife Wanda of Accord; daughter, Jamie Graham of Accord; two brothers: Alan Schwartz of Philadelphia and Guy Schwartz of Hawaii; also, four grandchildren, Brett, Zachary, Karissa and James; a dear friend, Claude Le Barron; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James Roebuck in 1989 and a sister, Roberta. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 1, 2004 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.B. Newburgh, N.Y. - Giuseppe S. Leto, 81 years old of Newburgh, Mason Contractor for 42 years in the Newburgh area, died June 28, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh. He is survived by two daughters, MiMi Naclerio and her husband Michael of Newburgh, Nancy-Leto-Brown of Newburgh; one brother, Carlo Leto and wife Maria of Alba, Italy; four grandchildren, Ricky Brown, Laura Brown, Mark Brown, Anthony Naclerio; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews; loving companion, Judy Jackman of Middletown; and many Piasani in the area. He was predeceased by his wife, Katerine Mandese Leto; and a brother, Salvatore Leto. He was born March 10, 1923 in Santo, Stefano Quisquino, Sicily to Ignazio Leto and Domenica Giunta. He belonged to Circolo Catolico Italiano at Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh and UNICO-Newburgh. He was a musician with the D'Agostino Matching Band, Newburgh; an avid dancer; and an usher at the 10:30 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, July 1 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. GEORGETTE DUNN MILLER

Highland, N.Y. - Georgette Dunn Miller, 78, of Highland, passed away June 29, 2004 at the Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was born in Hollis, Queens, the daughter of George and Margaret Dunn on Feb. 24, 1926. On July 6, 1947, she married William G. Miller Jr. at the First United Methodist Church in Sayville, N.Y. Survivors include her husband, William G. Miller Jr. of Highland; a daughter, JoAnn Rasmussen of Denver, Colo.; two sons, William Dunn and his wife Jolene of Conroe, Texas, Peter Davidson Miller and his wife Veronica of Highland; and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Margaret Sunderlund of Fort Pierce, Fla. Georgette taught for a year before her marriage in Harrisville, N.Y. Later she substitute taught in a number of up-state schools before she taught English at Margaretville High School. Locally, she taught English at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie. Following that employment she worked at the First National Bank of Highland until her retirement from the M& T Bank in 1988. Georgette has served her church in many offices and committees. She was also very active in P.E.O., a philanthropic and educational organization. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 2 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sutton Funeral Homes Inc., One Woodside Place, Highland. Funeral services will be held at the Milton-Marlboro Methodist Church, Church St., Milton on Saturday, July 3 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Highland cemetery, Highland. MARY E. SKINNER

Westbrookville, N.Y. - Mary E. Skinner of Westbrookville, retired from Manhattan Shirt Co., Middletown, and lifetime area resident, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Belle Reve, Milford, Pa. She was 101. She was born August 13, 1902 in Cuddebackville, the daughter of the late John and Marietta Clark Piatt. She was the widow of Ernestus Skinner; he died October 25, 1958. She was a member of the Westbrookville United Methodist Church, and the Ladies Aid Society of the Church; also a former member of the Westbrookville Seniors. Surviving are son, Ernestus F. Skinner and his wife, Betty, of Port Orange; four grandchildren, Lee E. VanNess and his wife, Irene, of Westbrookville, Mary Skinner Marra of Catasauqua, Pa., Ernestus "Buddy" Skinner of Port Orange, and Richard Skinner and his wife, Debbie, of Cuddebackville; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a niece, Lillian Flieger and her husband, Bill, of Cuddebackville. She was predeceased by daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Clarence "Ed" VanNess. Friends may call on Thursday, July 1 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. JOHN "RICK" R. HARRISON

New Paltz, N.Y. - John "Rick" R. Harrison, a retired computer engineer for IBM, Kingston, and resident of the area for many years, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at home after a long illness. He was 57. The son of Kathleen Donahue and the late John D. Harrison, he was born December 24, 1946 in Jamaica, Queens. He was married on November 13, 1977 in Linbrook, N.Y. to Barbara M. Mackey. He was formerly of Seaford, N.Y and Wantagh, N.Y. and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. John was a member of St. Joseph's Church, New Paltz; IBM 1/4 Century Club; Knights of Columbus Cardinal Spellman Council #5800; and the Limarc Ham Radio Club, Long Island; he was an avid Ham Radio operator. He also collected guitars and was a motorcycle enthusiast. Survivors include his wife, Barbara M. Mackey Harrison at home; daughters, Kristen Marie and her husband Anthony Jensen, Kathleen May Harrison and Sarah Louise Harrison all of New Paltz; son, John and his wife Tambra Harrison of Blackwell, Mo., N.Y.; mother, Kathleen D. Harrison of Seaford, N.Y.; sister Jeanne M. and her husband Tim Donovan of Massapequa, N.Y.; granddaughter, Makayla Stanley of Albuquerque, N.M.; niece, Danielle Puglia and nephew Zachary Donovan both of Massapequa; and granddaughter, Rachel Biclicke of Blackwell, Mo. Newburgh, N.Y. - Evangelist Mamie Hall, a longtime resident of Newburgh, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 28, 2004 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. She was 83. Mamie Hall was the eldest daughter born to Ezekiel Ware and Druesilla (Robinson) Ware in Batesville, Miss. on January 17, 1921 and moved to Newburgh in 1948. Mamie Hall was the widow of the Rev. Edward Hall, and the mother of 13 children. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Evangelist Mamie Hall was a member of Best Temple Church of God In Christ for over 50 years. She served in many capacities always offering words of love, comfort, consolation, and encouragement with a smile. Evangelist Mamie Hall's leadership and contributions include serving as the president of the Missionary Board, a member of the Sick Committee, a member of the Usher Board, a member of the Helping Hand Committee, and a member of the Ever-Ready Club. In addition to her valuable contributions, she was a faithful member of the church, who will be forever remembered and esteemed for her loving nature, willingness to serve and compassion for all. Evangelist Mamie Hall fought a good fight, kept the faith, and finished her course, moving from labor to reward. Evangelist Mamie Hall was preceded in death by eight of her children; one brother, James Ware; and two sisters, Elgenia McKenzie, and Freddie Lee Ware. She leaves to mourn her passing, celebrate her life, and cherish her loving memory, her children, Edward, Arneva, Charles, Joseph, and Geneva, all of Newburgh; one adopted daughter, Oral Brown of Oakland, Calif.; one god-daughter, Leah Newkirk of Newburgh; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Ilene Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, and Eddie B. Best of Newburgh; one sister-in-law, Bertha M. Ware of Batesville, Miss.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, friends, and the church family. Visitation will be held Friday, July 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Best Temple COGIC, 113 Dr. James Best Place, Newburgh. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3 at 12 noon at the church. Elder Milton Best will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery, Middlehope. Arrangments were made by Brutus W. Hodge, Funeral Home.

ANNE McCABE (NEE O'REILLY)

Yonkers, N.Y. - Anne McCabe (nee O'Reilly) died on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the age of 84. She was born on August 21, 1919 to Matthew and Margaret (Murphy) O'Reilly in New York City. Beloved wife of the late Peter McCabe (1998); devoted mother of Jo-Anne Konrad; and loving grandmother to Kim-Ann, Robert and Kristi; and great grandmother to Kaitlyn Halpin; and sister to the late Margaret Leniston and Matthew O'Reilly. Visitation will be held at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Ave., Yonkers, on Friday, July 2 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Philip Neri Church on Saturday, July 3 at 10 a.m. Interment at Calvary cemetery.

WENDY BETRAND

Newburgh, N.Y. - Wendy Betrand, a homemaker and lifetime resident of Newburgh, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was 41. Born January 20, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Willie Dillard and Lina Hillind Dillard. She is survived by two sons: Raymond and Ramondous Betrand, both of Newburgh, NY; one daughter, Latasha Brown of Newburgh, NY; two brothers: Willie Dillard and wife Brandi and Keenan Dillard, both of Waterbury, CT; one sister, Vandella Wells of Lake Wells, FL; and three grandchildren. Also three grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends. She is predeceased by a nephew, Jonathan Dillard-Strothers. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 3, 2004 from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home, 259 Walsh Ave., New Windsor, NY.
