LEANORD "LENNY" CAVALLERNO

Yulan, N.Y. - Leanord "Lenny" Cavallerno, of Yulan, died on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at the Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was 55. The son of Rinaldo L. and Mary Landsfield Cavallerno, he was born on March 27, 1949 in PortChester, New York. "Lenny" was loved by everyone who met him. He was an avid horseback rider and fisherman and enjoyed doing this with his friends. Survivors include his mother, Mary of the Bronx; one sister, Carol Cavallerano Evangelist of Florida; his close friend, Elizabeth; and his extended family for many years at Crystal Run Village. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 26 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 Main Street, Woodbourne, NY 12788. Funeral Services will follow at 12 p.m. on Monday, July 26 at the funeral home. Pastor Nancy Vonerhorst will officiate. ANN MARIE MONTANYA

Marlboro, N.Y. - Ann Marie Montanya, a homemaker, and longtime area resident, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at home. She was 71. The daughter of the late Michael and Mildred Cirello, he was born March 22, 1933 in Astoria. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Montanya at home; sons, Hal Mead of Bloomingburg, Robert Mead of New Windsor, Ross Mead of Marlboro, Richard Mead of Milton, and Michael Montanya of Savannah, Ga.; daughters, Ruth Ann Otero of Springsdale, Fla., Joyce Mead-Colon of New Windsor, Debbie Montanya of Pa., Michelle Montanya of Poughkeepsie, and Tracey Sarlo of Chester; sisters, Jeanette Bonici of Newburgh, and Dolores Kissam of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, July 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. at White and Venuto Funeral Home, 188 N. Plank Rd., Newburgh. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Grand St., Newburgh with Monsignor John Budwick officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. RONALD JOHN LAKE JR.

Warwick, N.Y. - Ronald John Lake Jr. of Warwick, died on July 20, 2004 at his home. He was 41. Born on May 19, 1963 in Middletown, he was the son of Ronald Lake Sr. and Sharon Rich Lake. Mr. Lake was a machinist and designer with Equibal Co. in Unionville. A family statement reads: "A designer and builder, he could fix anything. He loved nature and the wilderness. He helped everyone he came in contact with whether it be a friend or an animal in need." He is survived by his loving wife, Normajean Fusco Lake; three children, Ronald Arthur Lake, Kelly Lake and Kevin Lake; his mother, Sharon and father, Ronald; his stepmother, Carol Ann; brother, Michael Lake; sisters, Sherry Lee and Kiamesha Lake; his paternal grandfather, Henry Grusz Sr.; stepbrother James Schink; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Christine Lake. Visitation and funeral services were held on Friday at the Lazear-Smith Funeral Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to either the Florida Rescue Squad, 19 N. Main St., Florida or the Town of Warwick Police, Kings Hwy, Warwick, NY 10990. CHARLES W. "SANDY" SALERIUS III

Highland Falls, N.Y. - Charles W. "Sandy" Salerius III, a retired boilermaker, Local #5, Manhasset and lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 60. The son of Mary Christoff Salerius and the late Charles W. Salerius Sr., he was born May 24, 1944 in West Point. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Highland Falls; A Friend of Bill W.; Veteran of US Army having served during Vietnam. Survivors include his mother, Mary C. Salerius of Highland Falls; sons, David J. Salerius and wife Karen of Syracuse, Matthew J. Salerius and wife Lindsay of Okinawa, Japan; brothers, Benjamin Salerius of Graves, Texas and Joel C. Salerius of Highland Falls; sisters, Carol Dapra of Fort Montgomery and Mary Jo Schmidt of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. MARK V. "SKILLET" MULLEN

Ithaca, N.Y. - Mark V. "Skillet" Mullen, 44, of 300 Halseyville Road, Ithaca passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 20, 2004. Born on November 1, 1959 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Mark was the son of James and Nancy Sammartino Mullen of Hyde Park. Mark was raised in Wappinger's Falls and worked for the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, NY for 17 years. In 2000, Mark helped open the Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus. A loving father and husband, Mark cherished the times spent with his family. He was a black belt and an instructor in Martial Arts and an accomplished musician. Mark also enjoyed cooking and drawing cartoons and caricatures of family and friends. His vibrant personality and fun-loving spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved Mark. In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by his wife of 7 years, Laurie L. McHenry Mullen; two daughters, Kaitlyn and Jessica; one sister, Pamela Mullen of Hyde Park, and three brothers, Rob and Rick of Hyde Park and Jim of Wappinger's Falls. RICHARD "CHICO" ROMOLO

Livingston Manor, N.Y. - Richard "Chico" Romolo, a lifetime resident of Livingston Manor, died on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 65. The son of Joseph and Ruby M. Seeley Romolo, he was born April 06, 1939 in Livingston Manor, NY. "Chico" was a retired, self-employed Tile Setter, a life member of the Livingston Manor Fire Co., an Elder of the Livingston Manor Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Hunter Road Hunting Club. He leaves behind his loving wife, Joanne McKenzie Romolo who he married on January 21, 1961 at home; one son, Patrick Romolo and his wife, Kristi; two daughters, Tammy Diescher and her husband, Victor; Sheri Tuttle and her husband Robert; his mother, Ruby Romolo; three grandchildren, Tara Diescher, Paul Tuttle, and Melissa Diescher, all of LIvingston Manor; three sisters, Diane Kowalewski of Omaha; Angela Romolo-Iorio of Millwood, NY; and Lori Romolo of Blufton, SC. He was predeceased by one grandson, Ryan Patrick Romolo. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Herbert C. ELIZABETH WELLS "DODY" BAIRD

Stonington, Conn. - Elizabeth Wells "Dody" Baird passed away at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center in Mystic, CT on Wednesday, July 21st, 2004. Born November 8, 1919 in Newburgh, NY. Daughter of Charles Henry and Elizabeth Hyndman Wells. Beloved wife of Elmer S. Baird, Mystic CT; mother of Nancy Baird Moretta and mother-in-law of Thomas Ralph Moretta, Gales Ferry, CT; sister of Gertrude Wells Laffin of Bethesda, MD; grandmother of Allison Moretta Noonan and Kristin Moretta; and aunt of Wells Duffy and Sarah Brookhart. A longtime resident of Newburgh, NY until moving near family in Connecticut, Dody was an educator and a homemaker, with a teaching career that spanned several decades. She was a 1940 graduate of New Paltz Teachers College (now SUNY New Paltz). She married her college sweetheart, "Bairdy, " of Walden, NY, who enlisted in the Army Air Force at the start of WW II. After he completed his overseas assignment, they lived on a number of military bases throughout the U.S. Fortunately, Dody made friends easily and was loved by all. Her nickname was given her by older sister Sally at a very young age, and it became a lifelong name of endearment. Dody was an avid bridge player, accomplished at doing the Times crossword, an outstanding teacher, and took well-deserved pride in her cooking and entertaining. She was generous in spirit, and family meant the world to her. Dear Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and Aunt Dody will be deeply missed by a loving family and many friends. LISA J. McCRANN ANDERSON

Mont Vernon, N.H. - Lisa J. Anderson, 43, formerly of Goshen, who resided in Mont Vernon, N.H., died on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 due to complications after a courageous fight with Aplastic Anemia. She was born September 13, 1960. Lisa was the loving wife of Charles; beloved mother of Christopher; devoted daughter of Robert J. and Alice Nutley McCrann and adoring sister of Robby McCrann. She was also the cherished niece and cousin to many. Lisa is also survived by her mother-in-law, Barbara Anderson; sister-in-law, Diane Anderson; brother-in-law, Mark Anderson, and was predeceased by her Father-in-law, Richard Anderson. Lisa was employed as a supervisory account representative for AMICA Insurance Company in Manchester, N.H. She was a 1978 graduate of John S. Burke High School and earned a BA in Communication Arts from The College of New Rochelle in 1982. While attending college, Lisa met Charles R. Anderson who was attending nearby SUNY Maritime College. Lisa and Charles were married at Saint John's Chruch on May 5, 1984 in Goshen. Lisa enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. One of Lisa's favorite pleasures was spending summers in the New Hampshire Lakes Region, reading, travel, and walking her dog Monty. Lisa was devoted to her family, friends, neighbors, and community. Lisa regularly volunteered in support of school, athletics, and fundraising activites. A family satement reads: "Lisa's family will always remember her beautiful, warm spirit that matched her rich red hair. During her illness we were all witnesses to her quiet courage as she bravely faced the challenges of each new day. Lisa had a dedication to any task and followed it to it's successful completion. She accomplished this with loving kindness and an infectious sense of humor that we will never forget. Her peaceful determination will continue to inspire us." HENRY N. PEDERSEN

Eddyville, N.Y. - Henry N. Pedersen, 75, of Rte. 213, Eddyville, has gone fishing. He passed peacefully on Friday evening, July 30, 2004 at the Kingston Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Brooklyn, February 10, 1929, a son of the late John E. and Mary Engelsen Pedersen. He was a Marine Corps. Veteran and prior to retirement, was involved in the food service industry. He was an avid fisherman and sportsman and a friend to all. He is survived by his children, Estelle Buono of Staten Island, John Pedersen of Fort Montgomery, Orange County, N.Y. and William M. Pedersen of Hurley, N.Y.; a brother, John Pedersen of Michigan; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother, Olaf E. (Billy) Pedersen. KATHERINE SCOTT

Newburgh, N.Y. - Katherine Scott of Newburgh, entered into rest suddenly on Friday, July 30, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was 57. The daughter of Adrian and Lillian Morgan Scott, she was born February 17, 1947. Survivors include five brothers, Richard and his wife Jennie, William and his wife Dorothy of New Windsor, John (Jack) and his wife Rosemarie of Plattekill, Ralph and his wife Patricia of Newburgh, and Adrian and his wife Rosemarie of Newburgh; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Middletown, N.Y. - Elizabeth F. Formont-Doremus, a social worker for Camp LaGuardia in Chester and 15-year area resident, died Friday, July 3o, 2004 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 46. The daughter of the late Mario Zampardi and Grace Lampasso Zampardi, she was born January 22, 1958 in Queens. She is survived by her husband, William C. Doremus of Middletown; sister, Maria Anderson of Island Park, N.Y.; two nephews, Jonathan and Joseph Anderson. RUSSELL "CHUBBY" FOSTER

Middletown, N.Y. - Russell "Chubby" Foster, of Middletown, a lifelong resident of the area, and a retired therapy aide at the Middletown Psychiatric Center, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 in Middletown. He was 91. The son of Charles and Lucy Brasington Foster, he was born on February 12, 1913 in Livingston Manor. A veteran, Russell served as a staff sergeant during WWII. He was also an honorary member of the Howells Fire Company. Survivors include his wife Phyllis Foster; three children, Robert Foster, Brian Foster and Joy Foster; three grandchildren, Brian, Suzanne and Christina; three great- grandchildren, Sean, Nicholas and Jenna; and several nieces and nephews. BERNARDA MONTALBANO

Marlboro, N.Y. - Bernarda Montalbano, a homemaker and resident of Marlboro for many years, died July 31, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh. She was 71. The daughter of the late Biagio Volpe and Francesca Cerasa, she was born October 11, 1932 in Palermo, Italy. She is survived by her husband, Luigi Montalbano of Marlboro; daughters, Rosa Montalbano of Brooklyn, Francesca and her husband Lino Napolitano of N.Y., Josephine Montalbano and Maria Gina Montalbano both of Marlboro; sister, Filippa Pecoraro of Long Island; granddaughter, Nicole Napolitano; grandsons, Louis and Joseph Montalbano; granddaughter, Emily Montalbano; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, August 2 and 3 at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Rt 9W., Marlboro. Monroe, N.Y. - Jack Thomas Roque, a letter carrier for the US Post Office in New York, N.Y., died Saturday, July 31, 2004 in Milford, Pa. He was 68. The son of Manuel Roque and Jennie Tama Roque, he was born August 3, 1935 in New York, N.Y. Survivors include his wife, Marlene J. Nestman Roque of Monroe; son, Jack Thomas Roque of Norwich; three daughters, Elizabeth Roque-Gaffney of Florham Park, N.J., Christine Kincade of Monroe, Felicia Kincade of Shohola, Pa.; two sisters, Joyce Bufano of Claryville, Jeannett Thompson of Middletown; nine grandchildren, Steven Kincade, Thomas Kincade, Myles Kincade, Eamonn Gaffney, Shannon Kincade, Kelly Gaffney, Tyler Kincade, Emily Kincade, Julian Roque; and several nieces and nephews. Goshen, N.Y. - Olga Mary Liteplo, a retired bookkeeper for Sperry-Hutchinson Company in New York, N.Y. and 4-year area resident, formerly of New Hyde Park, died Friday, July 30, 2004 at Elant at Goshen, Goshen. She was 77. The daughter of the late Karl Dacko and Katherine Koniuch Dacko, she was born October 23, 1926 in New York, N.Y. She was the widow of Walter Liteplo. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Clones of Monroe, Mary Ann Harasymowycz of Williamsville, Jeanne Carroll of Bronxville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Montgomery, N.Y. - Marjorie Hilton Briggs, a realtor in the Pine Bush area and longtime area resident, died July 28, 2004 at home. The daughter of Charles Hilton and Edith Morrison, she was born in Mina, Nev. She married Jasper Briggs of May 4, 1941. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bullville. She was a member of the Circleville Fire Comp. Auxiliary and the Realtors Assoc. Survivors include her sister, Dorothy Schulz of Cornwall; children Nancy Talarico and husband Brendan of New Hampton, and James Briggs and wife Linda of Montgomery; four grandchildren, Thomas E. Briggs Jr. and his wife Donna, Tammy Downing and her husband Thomas, Nicholas Patrick Talarico, Jamie Nicole Talarico; two great-grandsons, Thomas and Matthew; great-granddaughter, Katrina. Monroe, N.Y. - Thomas Crisci Sr., a retired laborer for New York City Parks Dept., Queens, and 6-year area resident, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at his residence. He was 78. The son of the late Charles Crisci and Maria Geraci Crisci, he was born September 17, 1925 in Brooklyn. He was the widower of Clara Sciambra Crisci. He was a member of the Monroe Senior Center in Monroe. Survivors include his sons, Charles J. Crisci of Wood Haven, Thomas Crisci Jr. of Monroe, Joseph Crisci of Brooklyn; daughters, Maria A. Graganella of Monroe, Denise M. Lanser of Barnegat, N.J.; brother, Louis Crisci of Lyndhurst, N.Y.; sister, Florance Gioncentere of Lyndhurst, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y. - Richard J. Flanagan, an agent for Metropolitan Insurance, in New York City, died July 31, 2004 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Cornwall. He was the son of Richard Flanagan and Nora Hurley, born in New York, N.Y. He was a former member of the Storm King Golf Club in Cornwall and a WW II veteran serving in the US Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945. He was predeceased by one son, Ricky Flanagan; two brothers, John Flanagan and William Flanagan; one sister, Margaret Begley. Friends and relatives may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, August 2 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 2 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Cornwall-on-Hudson. The Rev. Richard A. Caplice will officiate. Cremation will follow the Mass at Cedar Hill in Newburgh. Contributions may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation. Arrangements by Kevin Quigley of Quigley Bros. Funeral Home.

TEOFIL "TED" RAYMOND LAVINSKI SR.

Callicoon Center, N.Y. - Teofil "Ted" Raymond Lavinski Sr., a retired dairy farmer and former farm machinery salesman and longtime area resident, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at CRMC, Harris. He was 78. The son of the late Frank Sr. and Julia Dembeck Lavinski, he was born February 28, 1926 in Florida, N.Y. He was a member of the Sullivan County Farm Bureau. A family statement reads, "Ted was a loving companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. An avid fisherman and hunter, who also enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens, repairing old machinery, watching and feeding birds, talking with and helping his many friends." Survivors include his companion, Patricia House of Callicoon Center; one son, Ted Lavinksi Jr. and his wife Karen of Warwick; two daughters, Connie Horton and her husband Rich of Warwick, Loraine Drown and her husband Tom of Middletown; one brother, James Lavinksi of Naples, Fla.; five grandchildren, Richard Horton Jr., Gregory Horton, Dorinda Leeper O'Dell, Donna Lavinksi Lent and Kara Lavinksi; three great-grandchildren, Arron O'Dell, Devin O'Dell and Elizabeth Lent. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Lavinski and Frank Lavinski Jr.; and a sister, Stella Sullivan. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, August 3 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Services will be held at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. Cremation will be held at Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lauren Hughson Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o First National Bank of Jeffersonville, PO Box 398, Jeffersonville, NY 12748 or the charity of one's choice.
