DUAINE "BROOKS" TROUTMAN

Matamoras, Pa. - Duaine "Brooks" Troutman, a ret. stationary engineer for Columbus Gas, Co., Milford, Pa. and area resident since 1970, entered into eternal rest on Saturday July 31, after a short illness. He was 76. He was the son of the late Frank and Rosella Reichard Troutman, born on January 30, 1928 at New Salem, Pa. He married Jean Crawford on April 6, 1950, who survives. Brooks attended The Drew United Methodist Church in Port Jervis. He was a 32nd degree Mason and life-member of the New Bethlehem Lodge of Masons #522 F&AM.; He was a Past Member of the Coudersport Consistory, Coudersport, Pa. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jean Crawford Troutman. He is the father of 2 children: Tim Troutman and his wife Pat of Savona, NY; His daughter Tria and her husband John of Milford, Pa. The grandfather of 4 grandchildren: Jennifer Redmon and her husband Casey of Jersey Shore; Sarah Taylor of Williamsport; Adam and Sean Mason of Milford, Pa.; His sister Ruth Crawford and her husband Boyd of New Bethlehem, Pa.; 1 niece and 3 nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister Martha Hilliard Walters. Friends may Call on Tuesday, August 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 Pm at The Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 4, at 10:30 a.m. in The Drew United Methodist Church, Sussex St., Port Jervis, N.Y. The officiating clergyman is the Rev. Robert Cassidy. Milford Lodge of Masons #344 F & M will conduct Masonic Services Tuesday Eve. at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will take place at Pine Grove cemetery, Matamoras, Pa. PAUL L. DOMINICK

Florida, N.Y. - Paul L. Dominick of Florida, entered into rest Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill Campus. He was 78. The son of James and Elizabeth Wanger Dominick, he was born September 4, 1925 in Jersey City, N.J. Paul was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Florida, and was a retired foreman for the Department of Parks in Central Park, New York City, for 25 years. He served in the Navy Seabees during WWII as a welder, traveling to the South Pacific, Europe, North Sea, Shetland Island, Germany and France. Working on the USS Enterprise, Franklin, Intrepret, Tigershark, LST'S, Europer and Elderfrance. He was an active member of the 82nd Air Borne and the Smokejumpers, Cave Junction, Oregon. He also served as the Quarter Master for the 82nd Airborne. Paul was a Judo-Sixth degree black belt, National Champion, National Examiner who helped establish the YMCA Judo Camp. He was a former Captain for the Pocatello Fire, Department as well as an active member of the American Legion Post # 1250, Florida. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen R. Dominick, at home; daughter, Ann Marie Elethorp and husband Tracey of Ticonderoga; son, Joseph Dominick and wife Gayle of Monticello; sons, James and John Dominick from the state of Florida; daughter, Cindy Depew of Howells; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Marie Dominick and Delores Dominick. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Florida. Friends may call Monday, August 2 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Goshen. MARILYN ELAINE FULLER LEWIS

Newburgh, N.Y. - Marilyn Elaine Fuller Lewis was born May 13, 1935 in Newburgh, the oldest child of Henry Fuller and the late Odessa Baynes Fuller. She has two sisters, Dolores Henderson of Newburgh and Margaret Mathis of Waterbury, Conn. She was predeceased by a brother, Henry Fuller Jr. Educated in the Newburgh School System, Marilyn received her G.E.D. and was licensed by New York State to practice cosmetology. She slept quietly away into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Westchester Medical center in Valhalla. She was 69 years old. Marilyn fell in love with and married her childhood sweetheart, Floyd J. Lewis Jr. and into this union three daughters were born: Sheila Elizabeth, Wanda Louise and Candace Elaine. Marilyn was a devoted and tireless mother who adored her daughters. She instilled in them values that would take them through life. She wanted only the best for them and tried to give them everything she never had. Marilyn coveted her role as "MaDear" (grandmother) to Nia, Craig II and Osmond. She has a son-in-law, Craig S. Campbell, that she called her son. As an adult, Marilyn accepted Christ as her personal Savior and became a charter member of Baptist Temple Church under the Pastorate of the late Rev. Saul S. Williams. She was an active member for 27 years and served in numerous capacities including the Usher Board, and was instrumental in the recent successful installation of current Pastor, Rev. Byron E. Williams Sr. Marilyn had a giving spirit and loved helping people. She raised numerous monies for deserving young people to attend college. Her ministry was in helping others to reach their goals. Marilyn is remembered for her compassionate and loving spirit which was enjoyed by family and friends. She was a champion of civil rights and was always actively involved in the Newburgh community. She registered many citizens to vote and would actually pick them up and drive them to the polls to vote. She was instrumental in the successful bid of many to attain positions in the political realm, school board and community action organizations. Marilyn had a love for finer things and was an impeccable dresser, being a connoisseur of fashionable attire. She loved looking her best, and her husband Floyd, gave her the world. They were entrepreneurs who owned F & M's Variety Store in the community for 13 years. They were blessed to have their 50th Wedding Anniversary in December 2002 at a fabulous celebration hosted by their daughters. To God Be The Glory For The Things He Has Done! Marilyn and Floyd shared a rich life together, traveling, meeting new people, and sharing their love wherever they ventured. Marilyn was a member of the Twilight Chapter #28, Order of Eastern Stars, for 32 years. She also served as "Worthy Matron of the chapter, past District Deputy Grand Matron for three Worthy Grand Matrons, charter member of Mary's Court #11 and past Most Ancient Matron Mary's Court #11 Heroines of Jericho, Prince Hall Affiliation. Marilyn was also the past District Deputy Most Ancient Grand Matron, a charter member of Capital District # 60, Order of Golden Circle, and the Past Illustrious Commandress of Elejmal Court #171. A wake will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4 with an Eastern Star Service beginning at 7 p.m. at Baptist Temple Church, 7-11 Williams St., Newburgh. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 5 at the church. The Rev. Byron Williams will officiate. Entombment will be held in Cedar Hill Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Marilyn E. Lewis Youth Scholarship Fund, Baptist Temple Church, 7-11 Williams St., Newburgh. CLIFFORD C. CURRY JR.

Ellenville, N.Y. - Clifford C. Curry Jr., of Ellenville, a lifelong area resident, and a truck driver, died August 8, 2004 at home. He was 31. The son of Shirley J. Wood Curry and the late Clifford C. Curry Sr., he was born June 7, 1973 in Ellenville. Survivors include his mother at home; three brothers, Kirk Reider of West, Va., Leonard Reider of Ellenville, Howard Reider of Ulster Heights; three sisters, Debbie Carpenter of Wawarsing, Pamela Dunn of Kerhonkson, Terrie Reider of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no services. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Loucks Funeral Home, Inc., Rt 209, Ellenville. IRWIN RONES Newburgh, N.Y. Irwin Rones, former owner of P&J;'s Restaurant on Broadway in Newburgh, died August 6, 2004 at home. He was 79. The son of the late Max and Fannie Rusch Rones, he was born January 31, 1925 in Queens. He was a Master in the Kerem Lodge; and a member of the Newburgh Masonic Lodge. Mr. Rones is survived by his three nephews, Joseph Rones, Clifford Rones and Henry Rones. Graveside services will be held today, August 10 at 3 p.m. in Cedar Hill cemetery, Route 9W North, Newburgh. Arrangements under the care of Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home Inc.

ALBERT W. TRIPP

Hannacroix, N.Y. - Albert W. Tripp died peacefully at his home in Hannacroix, N.Y. August 7, 2004. He was born April 18, 1934 in Walden, N.Y., the son of Wendell and Eva (Welsch) Tripp. Al was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict, an American patriot and a lifelong supporter of patriotic causes. He was retired from the NYS Dept. of Correctional Svcs. in 1991 with the rank of lieutenant. Al is survived by his wife Anne; sons Albert Jr. and Peter Tripp; stepdaughter Donna Bartlett and her husband Gary; stepsons Douglas and Gordon Carmichael, and Gordon's wife Anne; his sisters Marion Welsch and Mickey Meier, and Mickey's husband Gene, his brother Wendell Tripp and his wife Maria; and his grandchildren Heather and Holly Bartlett, Douglas, April and Kevin Carmichael. Al continued the generosity he showed in life by making an anatomical gift of his body to Albany Medical College. His family and friends will have a private celebration of his life on Aug. 21. Donations should be made to the American Cancer Society. CHARLES A. YAGER Goshen, N.Y. Charles A. Yager, of Goshen, passed away on August 7, 2004. Born in Suffern, N.Y, he was a nine-year resident of Goshen. Charles was the beloved husband of Kimberly and devoted father to his four children, Victoria, Alexis, Savannah and Charles Jr. Two sisters and three brothers also survive him. Charles' funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 12 at 10 a.m. at the Scarr Funeral Home Inc., Route 202, Suffern. Burial will follow at the Airmont cemetery in Airmont. HARRY R. VERNOOY

Warwick, N.Y. - Harry R. VerNooy, of Warwick, a retired vice president and mortgage officer for Key Bank in Chester, entered into rest on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at home. He was 87 years old. The son of George and Margaret Phillips Vernooy, he was born January 11, 1917 in Deerpark. He was a US Army and Navy veteran of WW II. He was a former member of the Black Meadow Hunting Club of Warwick and the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097. Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Zirofsky and husband Mark of N. Franklin, Conn.; wife, Katie Horvath of Warwick; stepdaughters, Katalin and Maria; seven stepgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Florence VerNooy and his brother William VerNooy. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida. Friends may gather at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 12. JAMES I. O'NEILL JR.

Ellenton, Fla. - James I. O'Neill Jr., 82, of Ellenton, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2004 in Manatee Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 12 at St. Frances Carbrini Catholic Church, 12001 69th St. East, Parrish, Fla. with Father Jay officiating. Burial will be at Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton, Fla. He was born in Highland Falls, N.Y. on March 29, 1922 and moved to Colony Cove, Ellenton, Fla. from Cornwall, N.Y. in 1991. He received his Master's Degree from NYU and was employed as an industrial arts teacher and retired from the Beacon City School District in 1978. He was a former member of the Colony Cove Art Club and Woodworkers Club. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II, serving in the Pacific Theatre of Operation. He was predeceased in death by his father and mother, James I. and Vera O'Neill; former wife, Mary O'Neill; and sister, Marie LaForge, wife of Charles LaForge of Bradenton. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Smith O'Neill; daughters, Karen Bell of Dale City, Va. and Marlene Riedell of Lusby, Md.; granddaughter, Arika Riedell and grandsons, Evan O'Neill Riedell; sister, Veronica O'Neill of Bradenton; brother and sister-in-law, John and Helen O'Neill of Bradenton. DAVIDE F. AUGUSTO

Wallkill, N.Y. - Davide F. Augusto, 28 yrs old, of Wallkill, a worker for JMR Concrete of West Babylon NY died August 7, 2004 suddenly as a result of an auto accident in Newburgh. The son of Abilio Luis Augusto and Maria Figueiredo, he was born April 21, 1976 in Danbury, Ct. He was married to Jacquelyn Fitzgerald Augusto. A family statement reads, "He was a tremendously hard worker and a talented craftsman who possessed the ability to make everyone smile and laugh. He was a unique and wonderful person. To know him was to love him. He will be missed everyday that he is not with us. He is at peace now and will live on in our hearts forever. I Love you Honey." Survivors include his wife Jacquelyn Fitzgerald Augusto at home; one daughter, Belle Augusto at home; two brothers: Abilio Augusto and wife Cristina and Jose Augusto both of Portuga; two nephews: Peter & Daniel Augusto; father-in-law and mother- in-law: Thomas and Vickie Fitzgerald of Wallkill, two sisters-in-law: Megan & Caitlyn Fitzgerald. CARL ALLEN

Haverstraw, N.Y. - Carl Allen, of Haverstraw, died suddenly on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Nyack Hospital. He was 51. Carl was born on October 10, 1952 in Richmond, Va. to Thomas and Evelyn Allen. Carl was a therapy aide at Letchworth Village for 32 years. He was a devoted Yankees fan and he never missed a Duke Basketball game. Carl was a devoted father and loving husband and was there to help anyone in need. He was not a wanting man but a giving man and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Antionette (Fiore); his children, Styleen Allen of Middletown; twins, Courtney and Kayla of Haverstraw; brother, Donald and his wife Maxine Allen of Wappingers Falls; nieces, Terri Watson, Tonya Strothers and nephew Previn and his wife Debra Allen. Carl is also survived by his father-in-law, Anthony "Cappy" Fiore; his sisters-in-law, Joanne and husband Jerry Accomando, Margie and Lance Haug; many nieces and nephews; his buddy Max "Chico"; and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Allen; mother, Evelyn Epps-Wilson; sister, Everne Allen; and great-nephew, Jonathan Dillard-Strothers. MARION MANZOLILLO

Jeffersonville, N.Y. - Marion Manzolillo, a homemaker and lifetime area resident, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pa. She was 78. The daughter of the late Harry and Lillian Schaefer Layman, she was born July 13, 1926 in the town of Delaware, N.Y. She was married to the late Anthony "Don" Manzolillo who died on November 7, 1996. She was a member of St. George's Church in Jeffersonville. A family statement reads, "She was a very loving and compassionate daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was very creative with ceramics and loved her shells and stone collections." Survivors include her three children, Thomas Manzolillo and his wife Linda of Liberty, Teresa Bendle and her husband Charles of Jeffersonville, Tim Manzolillo and his wife Nora of Cochecton; two sisters, Elenor Mall and Helen Schaefer both of Jeffersonville; eight grandchildren, Cherie DeGraw, Karen Davis, Stacey Bendle, Scott, Jessica, Jackie, Kevin and James Manzolillo; four great-grandsons, Justin, Jacob DeGraw and Tyler and Jared Davis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. ANNA YANCEWICZ GRASSO

Marlboro, N.Y. - Anna Yancewicz Grasso, a homemaker and lifelong are resident, entered into rest on Monday, August 9, 2004. She was 69. She was the daughter of the late Julian and Wilhelmenia Puchalski Yancewicz, born September 5, 1934 in Walden, N.Y. She was married to Carmine Grasso Sr. This September 6, 2004, would have brought the celebration of 50 years of marriage. She was a member of the Marlboro Ladies Auxiliary, Hose Company #1. Survivors include her loving husband Carmine at home; one son Carmine Grasso Jr. and his wife Rachel of Marlboro; one daughter Valerie Navarro and her husband Antonio of Marlboro. She was predeceased by one son, Raphel Grasso who entered into rest in 1961. Also survived by one brother William and his wife Carol Yancewicz of Walden; a sister-in-law, Mildred Yancewicz of Walden, wife of Walter who predeceased his sister and sister-in-law, Lorraine Grasso of Marlboro, wife to Jerry Grasso also predeceased; Grandchildren, Meaghan and Patrick Grasso and Toni Navarro; and several nieces. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Engel Funeral Home Inc., 5319 Route 9W, Newburgh on Wednesday, August 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Thursday, August 12. ETHEL SHERWOOD

Plattekill, N.Y. - Ethel Sherwood, of Plattekill, a long time area resident, entered into rest Sunday, August 8, 2004 at home. She was 65. Daughter of the late William and Sadie Smith Bartlett, Ethel was born April 25, 1939 in New Brunswick, Canada. Ethel attended the Newburgh Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her family states she was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who will always be with us in our hearts. Survivors include her husband, James C. Sherwood, whom she married on June 7, 1955 in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada, at home; her children, Daniel J. Sherwood, Linda S. Jillson and Christopher A. Sherwood, all of Plattekill; brothers and sisters, Rilla, Edith, Laura, Donald, Elmer, Barbara, Carol, Cecil and William; grandchildren: Michelle L. Sherwood of Highland and Tammy L. and Jeremy A. Krupp of Plattekill; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Peter C. Sherwood; and brothers and sisters Bud, Annie, Leta and Eleanor. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 10 at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 11 at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Newburgh. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill cemetery, Newburgh. JOSEPH A. LORINO

Kauneonga Lake, N.Y. - Joseph A. Lorino, of Kauneonga Lake, a pioneer in the cable television industry, died peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at his campsite in Forestburgh. He was 73. The son of the late John & Louise Lorino, he was born on June 13, 1931 in the Bronx. He pioneered legal and technical breakthroughs in the cable television industry that allowed the industry to flourish. He founded Master Antenna TV - one of the first Cable TV systems in the country; and MON-TV in Monticello, one of the first closed circuit TV stations. He was also a founding member and past president of the Smallwood-Mongaup Valley Fire Dept. Joe is survived by his eight children: John J. Lorino of Glen Wild, Patricia Mathews of Crofton, Md., Anne Summerfield of Highland Mills, Joseph F. Lorino of Forestburgh, Thomas Lorino of Middletown, Richard Lorino of Forestburgh, Teresa Butler of Harriman, and Christopher Lorino of North Carolina; one brother: Richard Lorino of the Bronx; one sister: Rosemary Malagiero-Forester of Mount Vernon; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews, and many close friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway, Monticello. Firematic services will be held at some point during the evening. It was Joe's wish that burial of his ashes be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Smallwood-Mongaup Valley Fire Dept., P.O. Box 28, Smallwood, NY 12778. Edith Elizabeth Romer of Summitville, a homemaker and lifelong resident of the area, died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at the Valley View Nursing Facility in Goshen. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Judson D. Allen and Florence Hyzer Allen, she was born August 9, 1921 in Middletown. Her husband of 53 years, Edward F. Romer, predeceased her on December 12, 2006.

Romer & His wife Cindy of Bloomingburg; three grandchildren: Kimberly Labianca of Bloomingburg, April Caggiano of Pine Bush and Erik Romer of Wurtsboro; two brothers: Leon Allen of Henderson, TN and Robert Allen of Tucson, AZ; three sisters: Janet Allen of Las Vegas, NV, Betty Goolsby of Las Vegas, NV, and Barbara Brownell of Honesdale, PA; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers: Frank Donald Allen and James Edward Allen; and a sister: Florence Hanlon.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24 from 2 -4 and 7 - 9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25 at 10:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Hewitt officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bloomingburg Rural cemetery.

John B. Spear
January 20, 2007
John Barry Spear, an 11th grade social studies teacher at the Monticello High School, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 20, 2007 in the Town of Thompson. He was 54.
The son of the late Norman Spear and Esther Allen Spear, he was born August 27, 1952 in Syracuse.
In addition to being the Head of the Social Studies Department in the High School, he was also the varsity baseball coach for over 20 years. He also coached in the Monticello Little League and youth soccer leagues.
John was a kind and gentle man who could always be counted on. He was my great support & love, and he will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife: Elaine Misita Spear; two sons: Thomas Spear & David Spear; one daughter: Gina Spear; and a grandson: Adyn, all at home; one brother: Robert Spear & his wife Margery of Syracuse; two sisters: Sally Flagler of Chapel Hill, NC and Cheryl Jeffrey of Pinellas Park, FL; and several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Victoria on March 4, 1988.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 23 at 10:00am at St. Peter’s Church, Broadway & Liberty Street in Monticello. Fr. Robert Ginel will officiate. Burial will be in the Assumption cemetery in Syracuse.
