Clifton R. “Sonny” Brickhouse
December 4, 2006
Clifton R. “Sonny” Brickhouse, a glazier for Sullivan County Glass in Monticello, died Monday, December 4, 2006 at ORMC – Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 58.
The son of the late Albert Brickhouse and Virginia Sheppard Brickhouse, he was born November 26, 1948 in Exmore, VA.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello, Sonny was also involved with the Middletown 8-Ball Pool League, and both the Independent Pool League and Tap Pool League, also in Middletown.
He is survived by his wife: Gloria J. Dunn Brickhouse, at home; one son: Clifton A. Brickhouse of Monticello; two daughters: Trina of Middletown and Tiffany of Monticello; seven brothers: James (Phyllis), Charles (Karen), John “Johnnie Boy” (Rose), Albert ”PeeWee”, Roy Lee (Gail), Junior, and Donnie (Lisa); four sisters: Loretta (Pete), Tina (Sam), Dorothy & Laura; his loving mother-in-law: Ann Dunn; his stepmother: Emily Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8 from 7:00 to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church Of Monticello, Liberty Street in Monticello. Rev. James Matthews will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rock Ridge cemetery in Monticello.
Memorial contributions made to the family would be appreciated.
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.

Sara Esperanza Velazquez
December 3, 2006
Sara Esperanza Velazquez of Kiamesha Lake, a homemaker and longtime resident of the area, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 63.
The daughter of the late Pablo Fidel Herrerra Diaz and Maria Natividad Pinto cano de Herrerra, she was born December 18, 1942 in Lima, Peru.
A beloved mother, wife and sister with over 30 years of doing God’s will. She was a devoted church member, church secretary and active member and administrator of the Women’s Ministries. With her kind, giving and patient heart, she sought to bring many children to Sunday School. Gory be to God.
She is survived by her husband: Santiago E. Velazquez, at home; two daughters: Elizabeth Mary Velazquez of Richmond Hill, Queens, and Evelyn Maria Velazquez of Poughkeepsie; one son: Jonathan S. Velazquez of Hurleyville; three sisters: Irma Herrerra, Nidia Sadosky and Dora Alfieri; one brother: Eduardo Herrerra; six grandchildren: Sara, Jose, Isabel, Mateo, Alyssa & Elijah.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5, from 5:00 to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 6 at 11:00am at the Mahanaim Pentecostal Church, 48 Spring Street in Monticello with Pastor Ricardo Romero officiating.
Burial will follow in Rock Ridge cemetery in Monticello.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Mahanaim Pentecostal Church, 48 Spring Street, Monticello, NY 12701.
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.

Herman H. Herschel
December 2, 2006
Herman H. Herschel of Rock Hill & Pompano Beach, FL, a local entrepreneur and longtime resident of the area, died suddenly on Saturday, December 2, 2006 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was 75.
The son of the late Herman C. Herschel and Caroline Tenewitz Herschel, he was born June 8, 1931 in Teaneck, NJ. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.
The owner and founder of Blue Sky Manufactured Homes in Wurtsboro, he was also past president of the Emerson, NJ Lions Club and a member of the Elk’s Lodge in Pompano Beach. He loved life, was always happy, enjoyed people and worked hard. He lived life to the fullest and anyone who met him became his friend forever.
He is survived by his longtime soul mate: Linda Kantrowitz, at home; his children: Laurajean Niesel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Michele Graham & her husband Rodney of Wurtsboro and Joseph Herschel & his wife Christine of Bloomingburg; eight grandchildren: Lee Ann (Daniel) Rovetto, Christopher Niesel, Megan Niesel, twin granddaughters Jessica Graham and Jennifer Graham, Victoria Graham, Christina Herschel and Stephen Herschel; a sister: Carolyn Meyers of Pompano Beach, FL; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter: Lee Ann Herschel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Sylvan cemetery in Wurtsboro.

Gertrude W. Lennon
December 1, 2006
Gertrude W. Lennon, 94, of Medina passed away Friday, December 1, 2006 in Medina, Ohio.
She was born February 5, 1912 in Monticello, to Morris and Mary Whipple.
She graduated from Monticello High School and Perry Business School. Mrs. Lennon worked for an attorney and was a Sullivan County clerk in Monticello.
She traveled with her husband, with his church work, especially working with youth and young adults. She also did volunteer work for the U.S.O.
She lived in Medina, Ohio for 20 years, where she was a member of Medina United Methodist Church, Priscilla Circle, Peace Prayer Group and Medina Coterie.
Mrs. Lennon is survived by her nieces, Marjourie Cleary of Lynnfield, Main; nephews, Robert and Richard Whipple; both of Monticello and William Whipple of Averille Park, N.Y.; and sister-in-law, Charlott Lennon of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John P. Lennon; parents; and brothers, Benjamin, Frank and Harry Whipple.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lennon/Berini Scholarship Fund, Duluth, Minnesota, the Lennon Christian Scholarship Fund of Lakewood United Methodist Church, The Lennon Scholarship Fund at United Methodist Church of Barea and the Lennon Scholarship Fund at Medina United Methodist Church, as well as the Library Fund at the Medina Church.

Ginna M. Pantone Jollie
November 26, 2006
Ginna Michele Pantone Jollie, a customer service employee for Crystal Run Healthcare in Rock Hill, died unexpectedly on November 26, 2006 at her home in Rock Hill. She was 30.
The daughter of James Pantone and Madeline Frasciello Pantone, she was born July 20, 1976 in Poughkeepsie.
She is survived by her beloved husband and soul mate: Joshua D. Jollie, and one son: Damon Jollie, at home; her parents: James & Madeline Pantone; two brothers: Jeff Pantone, and Nick Pantone & his companion Justina Havre; two sisters: Erika Pantone and Krissie Pantone, all of Wurtsboro; her maternal grandfather: Isidore Frasciello; a niece: Kali; and several aunts, uncles & cousins.
Her greatest accomplishment was her son, Damon.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. A memorial service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Hoag officiating.

Mary Hoey Spencer
November 25, 2006
Mary Hoey Spencer of Forestburgh, a homemaker and longtime resident of the area, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Place at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis. She was 97.
The daughter of the late Philip Hoey and Margaret Browne Hoey, she was born June 3, 1909 in Tuckahoe. She was the widow of Brian Spencer.
The oldest parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Forestburgh, Mrs. Spencer was also a past member of the Columbettes.
She is survived by three daughters: Jeanne Marie Casanova & her husband Gerald of Verona, Sister Mary Cecelia of St. Pancras, Queens, and Joan Mary Spencer of Forestburgh; one son: Philip David Spencer & his wife Sharon of Sherrill; two sisters: Georgine Shiller of Rosendale and Harriet Mylenski of Wappingers Falls; and an abundance of grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons: Brian Jr. and Michael; a brother: Philip Hoey; and two sisters: Margaret Richards and Bernadette Clymer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 30 at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Forestburgh. Fr. Ivan Csete will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Name cemetery in Otisville.

Deborah L. Stratton Feinstein
November 19, 2006
Deborah L. Stratton Feinstein of Monticello passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006 at home with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 49.
The daughter of Mary Meddaugh Stratton and the late Robert B. Stratton, she was born October 20, 1957 in Heidelberg, Germany.
Debby was a natural gourmet cook who enjoyed cooking for her family. Her pride and joy were her two sons.
She is survived by her loving mother: Mary Stratton of Monticello; two sons: Jason Feinstein and Jeffrey Feinstein, both of Monticello; her grandmother: Rose Meddaugh of Kauneonga Lake; two brothers: Robert Stratton & his wife Melinda of Forestburgh and James Stratton of Monticello; a nephew: Robert Stratton; a niece: Jessica Stratton; and several aunts, uncles & cousins.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her maternal grandfather: Vinton Meddaugh; and her paternal grandparents: Henry B. Stratton and Josephine Stratton.
A private family service will be held on Wednesday, November 22 from 3:00 to 4:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
All of Debby’s family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Stratton family home, 3175 Route 42 in Monticello.

Patricia G. Barone, a part owner of the Wurtsboro Airport died Saturday, November 18, 2006 at her home in Wurtsboro.
The daughter of the late Anthony G. Barone and Theresa H. Montvidas Barone, she was born August 9, 1948 in Middletown.
She is survived by a sister: Roseann Balow Bloom of Paradise Valley, AZ; one brother: Anthony G. Barone, Jr. of Dallas, TX; several nieces & nephews; and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother: George A. Barone.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.
